Sunshine Breakfast Bar | Tempe I think I found my new…read morebreakfast obsession! This spot is already at the TOP of my list--and when I say top of my list, I mean I went back the very next day because there was something else on the menu that caught my attention, and I just didn't have enough room to order it the first time! And THAT breakfast item deserves a feature all on its own, so for now, we're starting with sharing my first experience at Sunshine Breakfast Bar in Tempe. Coming from the food industry myself, the very first thing I noticed when I walked through the door was the customer service. And it didn't stop with the person who greeted me. That same level of attentiveness trickled down to everyone working in the restaurant. From the way I was greeted, to being walked through the dining room and seated, to hearing, "Enjoy your breakfast," as I was getting settled--it was the little things. They were attentive to their tables, the time management was on point, and when the food arrived, the quality and presentation stood out. And let's talk about the food! They make fresh croissants in-house daily, and they use sweet cream in place of buttermilk in their waffles. You would NEVER know the difference. That waffle tasted just like the buttermilk waffle I know and love! There are so many dishes between the breakfast and lunch menus that I already know I have some exploring to do. And apparently, I'm doing it FAST because I'll be back again this weekend with family. That's THREE visits in one week. Yeah... I'm hooked. Have you been to this casual breakfast spot yet?

I've been here twice in two months.. the first time I went it was incredible! Loved the lemon…read morericotta pancakes, coffee, and hash browns. The service was great and our waiter was on point, always kept the coffee filled and was really nice. I couldn't wait to come back! The second visit was horrible! It was only maybe half full, slightly busier than the first time I came. The waitress acted like we were burdening her by being there. I ordered the same thing as the first time (why change a great thing?), it was totally different! It took forever for my food to come out, the tables next to us were sat after us received their food before we did... I understand kitchens can back up, but while waiting the waitress NEVER came back, we finished our coffee and we were never offered more. When the food finally did come it was lukewarm and soggy, you could tell it was sitting. When she brought our food, she didn't even offer more coffee, we had to grab her as she was in a hurry to leave our table. I also asked for hot sauce at the same time as a coffee refill that never came. She came over halfway through the meal to finally refill our coffee for the first time, the food was nowhere near the quality of the first time. When she did bring the coffee, she said "oh I forgot the hot sauce, be right back" she never came back except to bring our bill a few moments later before we were done eating.. she made us feel very unwelcome and couldn't wait for us to leave, I'm not sure why... we were (and are always) friendly to waitstaff. 5 star first visit, 1 star second visit... I live close by and was hoping this would be my new go-to brunch place, after how I was treated the second time... sadly I'll find another place, I doubt I'll come back.

Afterwards, he mentioned that he tasted it and agreed about our comments- I appreciate that level of attention. Shortly after, the food arrived. Spicy pork tacos for me, and BLTA for my wife. The tacos looked a little overdressed. I was so wrong. Flavor and texture were balanced perfectly. The tortillas were firm, but again, perfectly suited to the juicy pork, that had a teriyaki vibe. Sprouts, carrot and cucumber toppings worked well, despite my expectations. The BLTA was HUGE. Great flavor. Both entrees were ordered with sweet potato fries. Unusual cut to them, but seasoned perfectly. I paired mine with chipotle aioli and ate every last one. My only complaint is that I'm only spending one evening in the Phoenix area, and won't be back soon. I would eat this food three times a week without hesitation.

I got the strawberry salad as a wrap, which was pretty refreshing. I think next time I'd probably try the pasta instead haha! But the sweet potatoes were deliciously great! The spinach dip was yummy! And the Alex mocktail was SO tart and delicious! It tasted just like those fruity fruit rolls haha! I added a photo because reference! Haha The restaurant was a little smaller, so seating was pretty busy. The girls working were dressed pretty casually in T-shirts and gym shorts. I guess that's the style they're going for? It was a little odd to me, but okay haha! Overall, it was a good place to grab lunch, especially if you're looking for something on the healthier side!

Eureka was such a great find! I really enjoyed this place from the moment we walked in. The…read moreambience was great and honestly a little more than what I expected from a cocktail bar. It had a really nice upscale feel while still being relaxed and comfortable. The cocktails were excellent, the food was delicious, and even the music playing overhead was on point. It was the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to sit back, enjoy yourself and keep sipping cocktails. I did have a few but my favorite was the floor is lava, while my wife enjoyed a classic margarita. They also have a really nice kids menu and some great appetizers, so it worked perfectly for our family. Our waiter, Elias, was very nice and told us that Eureka was known for their burgers. Well, he was right! The burger was excellent and those truffle fries with the fresh grated cheese on top were absolutely delicious. You can have your burger cooked to whichever style you like, I like medium myself. I would order both again without hesitation. The service was another highlight. The manager even came out to help bring our food, and you could tell everyone was working together. The entire staff seemed to be in sync, which was really nice to see. This was easily one of my favorite places we visited while in the area. Great food, great cocktails, great atmosphere and excellent service. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would absolutely come back. All I have to say is... Eureka!!

It's always nice coming back and still recognizing some of the same staff, and they're just as great as I remember. A huge shoutout to Felisha especially! She's always incredibly friendly, attentive, and makes sure everything is taken care of. The food is consistently amazing, the drinks always come out great, and the service has always been quick. I've also had nothing but positive experiences with the management here. Eureka has been one of my go-to spots in Tempe since it opened, and it's awesome to see that the quality of the food and the people working here hasn't changed. Definitely deserves some recognition!
