This location is waaayyy too busy for weekday lunch. It takes a good 15-20 minutes to stand in line, order, and then wait to receive your food. While I agree that in general Panera is a bit overpriced, there aren't really a lot of other options in this area, making it a go to by default. That said, the food does taste quite wonderful - huge fan of the frontega chicken panini. This is my regular Panera which I always really enjoyed however, yesterday when I visited was the first time since the pandemic began that I had been there (to eat inside). Not many employees - long wait to order and general uncleanliness. There was an old bandaid on the table when I first sat down. The cleaning lady wiped it away with a dirty rag - no disinfectant spray. I almost threw my food away. Everything was unclean. Went in to this Panera and placed my order for a Panini and tomato soup bowl. First of all the "Panini" came back as a hot sandwich and my bread bowl soup was not even luke warm. We returned the food and was told the Panini came like that because they don't have a presser. If you don't have a presser then the cashier's should inform customers beforehand so time and money is not wasted. Don't waste your time going to this Panera unless you want a bagel. Absolutely amazed by the great customer service me and my fiancé received from Jessica (we ordered a bread bowl with squash soup, a grilled cheese, 2 bottles of sparkling water, and half a sandwich). She was so sweet! We then moved down to get our food. I saw Abdul and his team handle an unnecessarily rude customer in a very calm and poise manner. This is my favorite Panera. It's clean, their staff is kind and attentive, they have disinfecting wipes stationed around the dining room for customers to use, and they have seltzer on tap at the soda machine!! They also have a lovely outdoor patio area. Thank you for being such a great place to get work done in this crazy time. read more

One of my regular lunchtime spots. After you work in this area a few months, you quickly figure out what your options are, and Panera is one of the better ones. The food is consistent with any other Panera, no surprises here. This place used to be packed at lunch, but Chick-fil-a seems to have pulled some of their business away. They still manage to get your food to you quickly, and the staff is usually friendly. And it won't clog you arteries and stop your heart like the five guys around the corner! Still 5 stars! After my last few experiences at other Paneras which were terrible, I had to update this one. I came here one evening to get some dessert that would last a while - a cinnamon crumb cake. It was still hella fresh at that hour (they had about 5 of them out). The guy who rang me up was so nice (and adorable to boot). He put the box in a bag that didn't have handles, so I would've had to hold the bag like a box anyway. After putting it in, he asked if I wanted a bigger one. He was so nice and gentle with the cake - literally treating it like a baby that I just said no and decided to cradle my delicious treat out of there! read more

They are good about veganizing just about anything, but is always check before I leave with my carry out order. Once in a while some cheese or chicken accidentally gets put in. This place is just amazing! I come here pretty often when I am craving Panera Bread once I am in the area of my home. Every time I come here, they greet me right away and always smile and everyone who works here is just the sweetest. They are very polite and know everything and anything about the menu, because I have asked a couple times on specifications for certain menu items. The manager is also very polite. There was a slight mishap with my order one time and he fixed it right away. I love this location. They really are very nice here and very helpful :) read more

Panera Bread at the Tech Rd location deserves a fairly decent rating! I go this location a lot to do my work. On my recent visit, management was constantly walking around inspecting every detail of the presentation--ensuring the pastries and breads were lined up and looking just right. One manager walked around tidying up and as soon as the line got too long, he got on the register to keep things moving. Anyway, this Panera location will continue to be my office, meeting spot and refuge (when my power was out, this is where I came to stay connected til they closed and we all had to leave - ha). read more

I love Panera, but I've had some really poor experiences here at this location. The manager dealt with me directly and was aware of my award of free bagel for the month, the next day he stated he could not offer it to me because he could not access it....even after he was the one who rang me up for it directly the other day and even remembered me. I spent 15 minutes going back and fourth with him. Even after he agreed he seen and verified my reward he refused to acknowledge it that day. It was honestly ridiculous. Nevertheless, after contacting corporate and getting everything situated I was able to claim my award without issues. It was the mere fact I had to do all of that just to claim something the manager knew about already which was really difficult to deal with. Ever since they took my favorite Panini off the menu....... I just don't come here that much anymore. But the service is always great. The lines can get long but that's only during a lunch rush. There is a mild dinner rush line but it's not that bad. Not as bad as during lunch times. There's plenty of seating. It's not noisy inside like another location that I won't mention, lol. /rant: Horrible!! Every time I come in here the incompetent staff gets my order wrong and the VERY last time I will be in this particular Panera, I received a rude encounter with the manager on duty. My mom wanted blue cheese on her salad instead of gorgonzola and the cashier put the substitution on the receipt. Now mind you, we were not aware at the time that they don't even have blue cheese (that steak blue cheese salad they have is just blue cheese dressing). So when we looked at the salads none was marked with which one had gorgonzola and which one had blue cheese. We were then told by the staff making the food that blue cheese and gorgonzola is the same thing. Yes, they think the two cheese are the same thing. Similar in look yes, but they are NOT the same thing! So at this point, we wanted our money back and the manager storms over and asks "why don't you want it" ummm lets see cos we want blue cheese (again, no one told us we don't even have blue cheese). She then tells me the same thing that the two cheeses are the same and so I asked whats with the steak blue cheese salad then and her reply is "because our cashier is a high school student." Okaaaay sooo she's stupid then? Basically that's what she implied. So yeah, service was horrible here and they seem to not know whats on the damn menu! Would have been a different turnout if the manager would just explain that the steak blue cheese only uses blue cheese dressing and not actual blue cheese crumbles. Yes, I should have read that part of the menu when we were arguing that the two cheese aren't the same but damnit, I wear eyeglasses and she should know the menu! Clearly she doesn't. Sometimes, it's minor- like when you forget our rolls or apples. Sometimes, it's a lot bigger- like today, when my power hummus chicken bowl lacked both hummus and chicken. When we order online, you know you get the exact order. When your menu items have 5 components or less, you'd think you could get it right. Unfortunately, you fail. Consistently. Went into Panera on my lunch break. This location is always very busy. While waiting for my order at the pick up counter you notice all the staff on the line preparing the food. I'm all for having fun at work but when the staff are goofing around along side their manager and the food is coming out slower that's an issue. And when the staff are arguing and one starts cursing that's also an issue. The lady at the counter calling numbers asked me what my number was, I told her and moments later my bag of food was thrown on the counter and smacked her in the face. Highly unprofessional. I won't be back to this location. Oh and if you're in a rush, my suggestion is to definitely order ahead which I should have done. I would have then missed all the unprofessional behavior from the line. read more

I order from here once in a while. I work in Silver Spring but this area is particularly busy so I only go there when I am craving Panera. I always order Rapid Pick-up and it is always ready when I get there. Tonight it was ready and I grabbed my bag and went back to the office. When I got back I opened my salad and saw it was wrong. Sigh... now I have to deal with the manager..... When the manager came on the line at 1st I thought it was going to be an issue because he said I could have a credit when I come back. No no I don't go there that often so that doesn't work. He put me on hold and when he came back he had a good solution. It just shows that customer service is still good and out there. We use Panera for our large office functions sometime. We cater for over 100 people. I am glad we can continue our partnership. And no the manager did not know this. :) read more

Pleasantly surprised - haven't been to Panera in a long time because I didn't like the sickly sweet baked goods. Had the 4 cheese soufflé and hazelnut coffee. Both tasted surprisingly good. Out of all the Panera places I've been to I think this is at my top 3 locations I would dine in at. Any time of day it's always clean and not too noisy. I always order the "you pick 2" soup and salad combo. Normally I would order to go but with the spare time I had I figured I would just dine in. Comparing portions from to go and dining in, there always a huge difference. I feel like the half salad that comes in the small container is just a portion of the bowl compared to dining in. I would happily give this location 4 or even 5 stars. But I can't. Its clean and the employees are always pleasant. The wait generally isn't very long but of course that depends on the number of customers at any given time. And I really like the food. Soups, salads, baked goods and sandwiches. There's only a few I don't like that I've tried. And I especially loved their turkey chili. All this good stuff to say and still not 5 stars? Heres why; Frequently I order a Caesar salad and I ask to add spinach to it. And I even say to the cashier that I want the spinach in addition to the romaine that is on the salad. There's usually a small upcharged and when I get my salad its a spinach salad with chicken (though once they did leave off the chicken). I don't know how else to ask for it. And when speaking with management they offer me a free salad. I don't want free food. What I'd like is for the employees to be told that a plus sign with the word spinach next to it means add spinach. It's not a problem when I add cheese or bacon to a salad. But spinach for some reason seems to be confusing. I usually remember to check before I walk out but on the days I don't and I get to work to find a yummy spinach salad its a bit disappointing. Give them a try if you haven't already. Just double check your salad if you add spinach to it! **edited to add: talked to a different mgr and was informed that their pos automatically removes the romaine when you add spinach.
