I ordered take out for pick up tonight. The whole chicken special, one additional order of dark meat and a side order of yucca. The special was supposed to include 1 whole chicken, 3 large sides, 4 sauces, and 4 sodas. My son picked it up, and when he got home and opened the bag, and the 4 sodas were not there. The additional dark meat I ordered was a leg and thigh and it hardly had any meat on it. The dark meat was in a large box by itself and it looked sad and lonely. I had written special instructions asking for mild sauce only, but 2 of the 4 sauces were spicy. The whole chicken was good. The food here is great. I've always picked up from District Rico on H Street, but it's far. When you order from District Rico on Door Dash, it gets delivered from the Brentwood location, and their chicken is always dry. I was glad to find this location. The chicken is truly crisp and juicy. Plantains and beans and rice are yummy too. The problem with this store is the service. I've ordered takeout from here twice, and both experiences were horrendous. First time they said they didn't get the order despite the confirmation from DD. This time, we arrived 10 minutes after the food should have been ready but waited an additional 25 minutes. Today I ordered a small chicken caesar salad with white meat chicken. Just so you know it's served with romaine lettuce which isn't really separated enough. They give you small amounts of dressing .... Not enough to cover even a small salad . I noticed it once I walked outside. So I came back in & had to ask for MORE dressing. The lady behind the counter huffed and puffed then told me if I asked for anymore dressing I would be charged? The little ramekins were literally the size of my thumb! I got home and mixed the salad with the dressings given and it lacked taste . It didn't even cover the small salad. How dare you short me on the dressings and then try to charge me for extra like dressings REALLY cost much!!! Honestly I've tried giving this place a few chances but I dont know anymore. The ambiance smh..... it's nothing more than a few wooden shiny tables ... colored walls and a counter. You can order on mounted tablets which is what most people do. I'm not sure if you can order from a counter person . I'm disappointed in the experience today & wish I could get my freakin money back not to return again anytime soon. Being completely honest, I did not see that coming-- the food at this Peruvian restaurant in downtown Silver Spring is DE-LI-CIOUS! First, you order on a self-help kiosk which is super easy to use, very similar to one of those McDonalds kiosks. Then you select what type of food you would like to place. They have dark and white chicken options which come with various sizes such as quarter, half, or whole. It was a lunch time so I got a half dark chicken with one hot sauce, one Jalapeño sauce. As a side, I went with medium size French fries. Everything costed me as low as $14.57 including taxes. That is an amazing price! Plus the chickens were freshly cooked actual Peruvian quality. Additionally, a fun fact: for those customers who leave a review on Yelp or Google, they give a complimentary drink as a gesture. Overall, my experience have been great. Normally, I avoid giving bad reviews unless I really feel they are warranted. I believe that this place could easily turn things around with a few needed changes. 1. Lack of flavor: I got the 1/4 dark meat chicken and it seems that the only seasoning that is added to the skin is just a touch of salt. Where are the Peruvian spices and flavors? It's well cooked but is so boring on your palate. 2. Fries: I do not understand why anyone would serve unsalted fries! Yes, you can add salt on your own, but that's not how fries should work. I suggest at least lightly salting the fries and ideally offer some sort of Peruvian inspired fry seasoning. 3. Price: $15 for just the 1/4 chicken with no sides is not a value, IMO. I've been to many other similar establishments that offer at least double the food for half the price. The chicken itself is also quite small, which further leads to my feeling of this meal not being a value. 4. Sauces: Typically, Peruvian style places like this have some tasty sauces that can help mitigate bland food. However, the sauces here were very runny and also were bland. I truly believe that with a few changes to the flavor of the food you can keep the price the same but make everyone happy. read more

Good taste and portions, I had the Crisp and Juicy salad for the first time and I really like the combination of the chorizo and chicken.

There is something seriously wrong with the corporate guidance that Crisp and Juicy chain gets. It doesn't seem like they train the units properly in organizing their interior especially their furniture. I have observed this in most of their stores. It's a shame because the food they serve has good potential(they use real chicken without breading and it tastes good), the service staff are always nice, the service is quick. I do like their food and the many options that they provide. Since the service is so fast, it has that potential for customers who can come and have a quick bite but the interior is so uninviting, nobody wants to eat there. And don't bank completely on take out and online orders. It's a given that online 3rd party sites take a big cut of the profit making your otherwise low cost food more expensive for the end customer. Food is Inexpensive, tasty, quick and relatively healthy for a fast food place. So use it to your advantage and give a little attention to the interior, you ll do great. One other thing, the menu on the wall has no prices making people touch the sheet you put near the checkout. People want contactless options these days. Please avoid this place at all costs. I stopped by Sunday night (1/15) and I received the worst customer service. I ordered the 1/4 chicken combo with a salad and beans and rice and noticed that I only received one salad dressing so I asked for another one. The guy at the front refused to give me one and so I asked him why and he said that I have to pay for it. After explaining that I wouldn't mind paying for it, he still told me flat out no, which was very strange and extremely rude. No explanation whatsoever. I don't usually go to this restaurant because I have experienced bad service in the past, but it was late and nothing else was open. I live right across the street at the Pearl so it is very convenient to just walk over. However, I just can't understand why I was treated in such a poor manner. If I didn't want to pay for the sauce, that would be one thing. But I offered to pay and he still said no and was extremely dismissive. I hate to think that it has anything to do with race, but I find it hard to believe that it doesn't. Please save your hard earned money, especially if you're Black. I am telling all of my family, friends, neighbors, and sorority sisters who live in the area and/or visit me not to ever go here. Also, please note that the salad was thrown together and wasn't sealed all the way, which is a health hazard considering it was in a plastic bag exposed. You can find your fare share throughout the city...and suburbs too. But, Crispy & Juicy joint turns out to be one of the top ones on my list and one of the tastiest birds around. It's a small eat-in and to-go place with tight seating, no decor and bare-bones on the aesthetic. But, its all good in my book because it's all about the chicken when you come here! The chicken is cooked to perfection. Orders come in whole, half and quarter cuts and a number of sides to choose from. The charcoal-grilled chicken, encrusted with spices is so tender. I will admit that it is not as "crisp" on the skin as I would like, but its definitely juicy! The meat is flavorful and seasoned to the bone. The sides on the other hand...beyond french fries and the yucca, are just okay. Nothing special. I tend to stick with a side-salad and/or the fries. I've tried the rice and beans several times. Either it was too watery or not much flavor. I also, tried the potato salad which was marginally good. Last, the plantains were...let's just say a "double entendre"....NOT unforgettable. Fried Plantains and it only came to $25!!! A feast for 3 and it was so cheap. Also came with creamy spicy sauce. There is construction outside the restaurant but it remains open. Small eating area but mostly it is take out. Bathrooms available. Tables were clean. I wasn't really expecting to come to this place. But as I stumbled home from the bar I realized that I didnt have any food in my apartment and my friends convinced me it was a good idea. In addition, the delicious waft of deliciousness you smell as soon as you step off the Silver Spring metro -- well that is their peruvian chicken. They have them roasted over coals behind the counter as soon as you walk in the door. Their chicken is solid. If you want a good moist chicken sandwich or 1/4 chicken and a few sides, this place is the way to go. I ordered the Latino chicken breast -- because I was trying to choose a healthier sandwich. I thought it was delicious but my friends were raving about the Gruyere sandwich. It looked great! In addition, there were a few bones in my sandwich since they just rip the chicken from a whole chicken for this. Beware of the bones, it can be unsuspecting. One thing I will say if the guy is going to ask you " Would you like some extra sauce with that? ". Who doesn't want an extra sauce? So I say "Do I need extra sauce?" and he says " Well it cost an extra 50 cents". If you're a heavy sauce person you might want to go for a little more than the container they give you, but mine worked for me just fine.
