Double stuffed cheesesteak If this was the double meat, I hate to see the regular that episode have to be skimpy as hell. Positives the bread was extremely soft, reminded me of a steam bun. They were very stingy with the everything toppings, literally a couple of pieces of lettuce, barely any, so scarce that I thought they forgot to put them on there. The steak was bland and lacked seasoning. For the up charge for the double meat, the amount that you got and the limited amount of toppings this really missed a mark. Wings I got the soy garlic sauce, I liked that it was a light sauce. The wings were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. For the price, I was not expecting very small party wings like my fingers were longer than some of those wings. I've had cheesesteak Mike's over the years, they're now under different management, and their cheesesteak has suffered. It is now more of a Korean style restaurant, and there is nothing wrong with that, but with the name being the same, it is a little misleading. read more

Today, the girls and I went to our go to Happy Hour place after work. We always enjoyed how low-key Mike's is. We found this place by accident and the very tasty Korean chicken wings. We ordered our beers, wings and LA galbi bowl. The spicy soy wings were nicely flavored with enough kick that I ordered another 10 wings to bring home. My friend Danielle ordered the sweet and spicy which she could have devoured but decided to keep some to bring home. The other gal order the LA galbi bowl with runny egg - she devoured it too and it is new to the menu. We were a little disappointed that they have removed the ramen to the menu - that is why it is scored as 4 star. The person manning the bar was pretty attentive. Friday 11/1/2024 I had originally found this spot through instagram and I think it had something to do with them having the best cheesesteaks so I had to find out for myself. I made a takeout order through their website and got bulgogi $14.49, soy & garlic Korean fried chicken (half chicken) $17, small sweet & spicy D.G.J (dak gang jeong) $9, and the famous Philly cheesesteak $9.49. - the bulgogi is a rather expensive plate that comes with rice, green beans, bulgogi, and more. The bulgogi meat was pretty underwhelming but the meal itself was okay. - The soy & garlic Korean fried chicken was solid but it didn't do much for me as I've had better for about the same price. - The famous Philly cheesesteak was smaller than I expected and it was just alright (not best cheesesteak worthy). - The small sweet & spicy D.G.J is pretty much fried chicken bites with a sweet sauce. It was significantly smaller than what I expected from a $9 (which is very expensive) but it was alright. Overall, the food was alright/decent but I do think that they are tripping with the prices ($55.63 total is pretty crazy). The prices are too much based on the taste & portions of the food. Went here for the first time yesterday from a friend's recommendation! *** restaurant menu is peanut/tree nut free - but did notice one ice cream that had nuts*** *What a nice and cozy little bar they have here! I love the personable and fun LED decorations and the ceiling/window of the restaurant side of the room has beautiful twinkle lights that feel so calming aside the tables. Area is clean. *Beer, multiple flavors of soju (including yogurt which is hard to find), & very simple drinks are served (shots of liquor or something like a Jack/Coke would be fine). *The owner (Mrs. Young) was the only person in the place as it was very slow (on a Monday). She cooked AND served us and was extremely personable, kind & attentive. *despite being in a bit of a congested area- they had a whole parking lot behind the establishment which made parking very easy. *I met my friend here for late lunch and ended up hanging out till dinner to meet my fiancé as we enjoyed ourselves so much we wanted to continue supporting their business. *we tried the spicy soy wings, fried rice cakes, chicken katsu and galbi dish. *spicy soy wings were very crispy, hot & delicious. They were definitely a Korean style- if you've eaten bonchon wings imagine a little less pungent and a little more sweet in flavor. *fried rice cakes were a nice little snack to have while drinking to make sure u have some carbs! They are simple in flavor and are chewy and fun to eat and come with a sauce of your choice to dip them in. *chicken katsu was extremely crispy- exactly what you want when you're looking for that kind of dish. I enjoyed the string bean stirfry side that it came with and the other accoutrements. *galbi was marinated nicely. My fiancé had this dish and the only complaint was that he wished there was more of it! Haha. Kimchi that came with the dish was tart and refreshing as well. *My fiancé has a severe peanut/ tree nut allergy and Mrs. young assured us they do not use any peanuts or tree nuts on the menu. This is a family owned restaurant. I believe the cook is the mom and her kids run the front. They are very busy usually 25min wait well worth it. So go knowing what you want. . Have been frequenting this place for the past year and have had good experiences but will not be coming back. Usually order a lot of food and interact with the waiter. With that said I personally always leave a good tip and go by my day. Today was different as I just wanted to eat and go. Total interaction with the waiter was no more than 50 seconds all together. Didn't need menus, refills or anything. All we did was order a single chicken and even grabbed the check from the counter so the bar tender wouldn't have to come around to give us the check. Paid for our food (without needing/"receiving" service) and went on our way. The owner or lady at the front decided our tip wasn't big enough and decided to chase us down for leaving a $3 on a $25 tab. Clearly broke college students but we still decided to give our money into the business and this lady thinks it's our job to pay her servers and lecture us when we have always been well paying costumers in the past. She decides to run up to me and my buddy yelling that the workers don't get paid enough and that we're not allowed to tip that low. Excuse me? YOURE THE OWNER, pay YOUR workers better??? No offense to the worker but she did no more than 30 seconds of work by taking out single item order, bringing our food, and take our plates after we left. Truly insane for us to get yelled at. Just updating to say this is one of our favorite places to come on Friday nights and we've now decided when it's just the two of us splitting a half-chicken sweet & spicy is an amazing deal and SO good. When we brought friends, we got a whole chicken sweet & spicy and KILLED IT. We've also tried a bunch of the other food at this point, bulgogi, la galbi, dumplings, a friend ordered the tofu cakes (which kind of were like crab cakes but w/ tofu and veggies) and every time we come here there are friendly people hanging out in the bar area. Even if we're not specifically looking for outside conversation, we usually get it and enjoy it. Excellent food, friendly staff, several flavors of bottled soju = a lovely casual bar night. I've eaten at Cheesesteak Mike's a bunch of times over the past six years, I've had the sandwiches and fries and they're delicious! Though after a trip to South Korea a few years ago, I crave Korean food very often. I usually head to Rockville for my fix but I love trying different places. Tonight we tried the bulgogi, dumplings and Korean Fried Chicken from Cheesesteak Mike's. The dumplings can either be fried or steamed. I got the steamed version and they were perfect with a little dipping sauce. The bulgogi was a generous portion of flavorful beef on rice. The egg was 99 cents extra, but well worth it. The bulgogi comes with kimchi, a few fried cubes of tofu, and a portion of green beans and mushrooms in a spicy sauce. I ate a few pieces of the fried chicken and it was perfectly sauced and delicious! For the price, you really can't beat this place. 3.5 stars. Flavor solid!! i got the bulgogi cheese steak (sans lettuce & tomato) and the spicy pork (sans fried tofu, kimchi, and egg). The cheesesteak packs a ton of flavor in a compact bite. Next time I'll ask to add extra peppers and onions. The spicy pork packed the flavor and heat and those string beans were GIVING!! I will definitely double the side order next time. 1.5 stars off for portion size (both were small servings) and my spicy pork was missing the pickled veggies (cucumber, radish, etc) but perhaps when I said no kimchi they thought i meant no to all the veggies. Like many people, I heard about this place on TikTok recently and thought I would check it out. I called in my order; The young lady on the phone was very nice and super patient as I figured out everything I wanted (the menu was much bigger than I expected). I decided on two bulgogi cheesesteaks, two orders of the Korean Fried Chicken "KFC"  bites (one with the garlic soy (?) sauce and the other with the sweet and spicy sauce), and the LA Galbi beef short ribs with rice and green beans. The soy garlic "KFC" fried chicken bites were overfried and very tough to chew. The fried tteokbokki included was almost impossibly chewy, which was really disappointing because I LOVE tteokbokki. The sweet and spicy KFC was much is better. Fried just right, and I loved the sauce. It had a little kick; just enough to leave a tingling on your tongue without being actually spicy. The cheese steaks were pretty good, but when I unwrapped them it looked like there was nothing inside. I'm used to cheese steaks that are bursting with meat and fillings and unfortunately these were not that way. Still good, but not worth going out of the way for. The LA Galbi short ribs were definitely the star of the show. They were so tender with great flavor. The green beans were cooked perfectly, coupled with the rice were an excellent accompaniment to the dish. read more

I don't even know where to start. So I guess I'll start with where I got my first instinct that something was up. Over the phone the lady was rude and hassling me over asking for them to fill up my water bottle - I was on my way to a hike and forgot to fill it. After I had to clarify that I didn't care that it came out of a "faucet" she stubbornly agreed to fill it. I show up, having called 10 minutes out, only to wait an extra 30 minutes for my sandwiches and a small size of their chicken bites. When they finally let me know my order was ready, she comes to the door scowling as I'm holding my bottle and card up. After telling me the order total, she snatched my card out of my hand and left me with my empty bottle. I asked for them to fill it again, and the cook came out, without a mask, and refused - telling me to buy a water bottle "homeboy." I don't support using plastic and felt weird about being called that because of the racial connotation so I said no, took my food and card, and went back to my card. Then I open my food to find that the chicken bites are almost entirely fried batter - barely any chicken. I tried a couple bites however and the sauce was still pretty good so I kept eating. They have the whole menu linked to a scannable QR code outside, so you don't have to wait in the enclosed counter/register/order area to see the available food items. I ordered the Gochujang Burger with everything on it. It was savory and sweet. It might have had a tiny bit of spice to it, but I couldn't really tell. I stop by Cheesesteak Mikes for years whenever I am in the area. I used to go for the cheesesteaks which were always delicious but now really enjoying the Korean food on the menu. My favorite is the buldak. It is spicy chicken and comes with rice, sweet potato noodles, cole slaw, lightly fried tofu and green beans. All of it is sooooo good. This time we also got the bulgogi with rice and the soy and garlic KFC bites plus added a side container of the pickled radish cubes. We enjoyed everything! Wish I lived closer so could go more often. For Covid, you call in your order and they will call you when it is ready and meet you at their front door - very easy. We will be back.
