I came for the fried chicken but fell in love with the BBQ!!! Actually it was all delivered but you know what I mean. I'll get the only fail out of the way. The Chicken tenders weren't tender and the coating was over-salted. The full rack of BBQ Pork ribs was a winner, tender and meaty with great flavor. The Slow-smoked Chicken is delicious and a nice, moist change from the usual chicken treatments. The Smoked Chicken Wings were great too. I wouldn't get the Texas Beef Brisket or the Carolina Pulled Pork again, but they weren't bad, just lots of other choices that were better! The sides here are stand-outs too. I almost didn't get the vegetarian Collard Greens since I love collards cooked with meat but these were delicious -- they never made it to the microwave, they were so vinegary-good when I sampled them cold lol! The Mac & Cheese was good and cheesy. The baked beans were good but again vegetarian where I'd prefer meat included and I didn't care for the sweet sauce. The Skillet Cornbread is the best I've had, slightly sweet with a good corn flavor that made me decide to buy a WHOLE skillet rather than just the generously portioned slice next time, especially since it's such a good value. I do regret not trying the coleslaw and potato salad so again, next time. The little rolls are tasty too, moist and slightly sweet but it's a pity they aren't burger-size so you can make a sandwich with all that delicious meat and sides. read more

I am not a great cook but mine are much better. Hard pass on ribs from this place. I don't recall any meat in the greens. And, the Mac and cheese, I enjoyed the texture, but wish the flavor profile had sharp cheddar cheese, but it was still good. Omg the chicken fingers and the Cuban sandwich here. Fryers is pretty popular roadside cafe and I understand why. We got a to go order here after bowling and went with the Cuban sandwich, chicken fingers, an ice cream cone, and a side of pickles . Before I got home, I decided to try a few pickles and these homemade pickles were amazing so I had to know if the Cuban sandwich was gonna be pretty good. As a heads up the pork and the Cuban sandwich is actually barbecue pork so it's a little different than what you're usually expecting. As predicted it was. The fried chicken fingers were huge and very flavorful and fried to absolute perfection. I got the Kansas City barbecue as the dip, and I love the sweetness of that sauce. The fingers came with two sweet Hawaiian rolls which I can't comment to because the toddler stole them. Could have definitely been better. After driving past this location for years on my way to work, I had to stop. I brought a few family members for a Saturday lunch. When we first walked in, we thought we needed to wait to be seated. There were people working but we were basically ignored. Only one other family waiting for a take out order and one couple with a baby out at the tables. No one greeted us or told us what the procedure was. Not off to a good start. So we flagged someone working behind the counter and she finally told us that we have to order at the monitors on our own. Oh, great. That would have been helpful to know. Yes, there's an "order here" sign but we did not know whether that was for people doing take out. We placed our orders and waited by the front door. Again, no one told us we could just go sit down at the outside patio so we asked if we needed to wait for our food at the counter or will the food be brought to us. We sat down and enjoyed the outdoors while we waited for our food. It wasn't long. I can only comment on what I ordered. The fried chicken was touted as the best in Montgomery County. So I ordered the 1/4 chicken dark with fries and collards. The chicken was juicy on the inside but the skin was too hard. Fries were good and not soggy. A decent amount was given. Collards were okay but plain. There are other items that I would like to try now that I know how the process works. I would like this restaurant to stay because there have been other attempts and they have not stayed long. Areas for improvement: * Greet your customers when they enter. * Instruct them to use the monitors to order. * There was complimentary water but no one offered it. We thought we would have to buy a bottle while we were there. * There needs to be a chart of the spice level of the sauces. I am not conversant of all the bbq sauces out there and need help in this area. If helpful for anyone else, parking was plentiful. There is only outside seating. I love a good rewards program! A couple of weeks ago I was having a terrible day and I stopped into Fryers to get a chocolate/vanilla soft serve custard cone. I entered my information into the kiosk and it said I had Fryers POINTS surprised to find out they covered the entire cost of the ice cream . I told the gentleman behind the counter about my horrible day and he said I'm gonna make your day better and upgraded me to a waffle cone! So I reviewed this Fryer's right after it opened the first time, but it looks like they removed all those reviews (because they weren't that great) when they coupled with Money Muscle. I really wanted to love this place. It's not as good as it could be. I'll save another food review for next time, though we came in an hour before closing for a sundae. There's no seating inside, though there's a bench for people to wait for their food and it was packed. I used the screen to order and then waited around for it. While my order didn't take very long, seemed like a lot of other people were waiting for their food. One of the aggravating things was that the servers would bring food over and place it on the take out shelf without calling out a name/number, so then the people inside would walk over to see if it was theirs. Okay. So I got the snickers sundae and I selected chocolate ice cream. I didn't get chocolate ice cream. I watched the server making this (thinking it wasn't mine) and it was clear that she only read the instructions on what went in the sundae, so she didn't see that I had selected chocolate for my order. While I love soft serve, the sauces weren't anything special, straight out of a tube. There was a fair amount of snickers, I'll give them that. We stopped to satisfy a massive sugar craving. I went with a sundae, and all was good. They definitely hook you up with A LOT of toppings; I kind of wish there was more ice cream rather than the massive amount of toppings. Unfortunately, we arrived maybe about 20 minutes before closing so I think the staff was bit preoccupied with cleaning for closing. I'm not saying that we were rushed or that the staff was rude, but you could tell the staff was ready to finish cleaning and to get out of Dodge. I had not tried Fryer's under the old ownership and was looking forward to trying it under the new one since I'm a fan of Money Muscles and All Set, but I'm not a fan. I ordered takeout through Toast Tab which was very easy and didn't require me to download a separate app. I ordered the 6 piece tender with comeback sauce and blue cheese sauce as my dips, and the honey sriracha Brussels sprouts. The chicken was unbelievably greasy. The first 2 pieces were not too bad because they were on top, but the bottom ones were inedible. This also made its way over to the rolls, which I also couldn't stomach due to the grease. The Brussels sprouts were a little heavy on the sauce but pretty tasty, I'd get it again. I wouldn't completely write off trying it again, but I'll stick with the bbq options and skip the chicken. read more

I love Money Muscle, so when I heard they were taking over Fryers, I was pretty excited. Today was my first time eating there. I ordered the Carolina BBQ Sandwich and a skillet cornbread. The sandwich was pretty good, though I felt that the pickles on it rather quite overpowered the vinegar sauce and even the meat. The portion was good, and very tasty. The cornbread honestly was meh. It was overly crumbly, and I expected a larger bit for the price. I mean. It's cornbread. Inside, it resembles the old Fryers -- spartan, counter, get your food and go. We passed by this place every morning and finally today on the way home we stopped here for an early dinner. Boy am I glad we did! ...aaaaaaaaaaand they're back!! This is an update to the recently reopened Fryer's Roadside (with its new sidekick, Money Muscle). I have to admit that I didn't try any of the chicken as it's allegedly the recipe from the previous owner. I was more interested in the Money Muscle side so I ordered what was available at the time (I went first thing when they opened and the brisket wasn't ready for serving yet). I tried wings, ribs, and pulled pork...and I liked them in that order. The wings came in dry rub and honey sriracha flavors. Both were excellent. cooked beautifully and seasoned just right. Tender and flavorful? Who could ask for anything more?! The ribs had a very nice smoked flavor to them, and their presentation was beautiful. With that said, not all of the meat came off of the bone and they definitely could have used another hour in the smoker. They seemed a little rushed. When I make smoked pork shoulder (the meat one uses for pulled pork), I *never* serve it with any sauce. I don't think it needs it and if you want to add some then knock yourself out...I won't be offended (that's a lie, I am offended). Anyway, their pulled pork comes with a vinegary sauce pre-applied and I did not like it - no one in my family did for that matter. I will see if I can get this without the sauce added and if I can't then I won't order this again. The pitmaster chooses to use cherry wood instead of an oak or hickory which is an interesting choice. The smoke flavor is a little more subtle with a fruit wood but the sweetness comes through so I'm okay with that. Maybe the pulled pork would benefit from the oak/hickory option but that's for them to test out. Obviously, a post oak would be optimal but potentially cost prohibitive. I'll definitely be coming back to get more wings and to see if they might be tweaking the options on the other meats. And I will also need to try the brisket. Note: there is no indoor seating but there are picnic tables with some heaters available outside. read more

We ordered the following: 1 regular chicken sandwhich, 2x Hawaiian rolls, 1/2 chicken DARK, 1 fry, and the greens. So lets start on the service and the overall place. Problem is simply they're now ONLY walk up. On spring and summer days this is fine but on a night when its windy and 40 degrees NOPE. People would go up to the window, then wait in the car, then keep poking there heads out to see if the food was ready. A simple way to fix this is to just take peoples numbers and text them once their food is ready Now the for the customer service. Overall this was good. The young lady who rung up our order was nice, patient and polite. No problems there at all. 5/5. Sadly they didn't have the 1/2 chicken dark so they asked what we'd like to sub it for. So we got the wings. The food came out and it was highly underwelming. The chicken sandwhich seemed to have store bought coleslaw on it. The chicken breast was way over battered though was moist. They accidently gave us fish and told us that we could keep it. No problem there expect the "seasoning" was GREASE and parsely. Theres more I could right but ill leave it there. Overall, i think this place shouldve keep the old fryers recipes OR completely changed over to BBQ. But this half baked attempt is really poking its ugly face out and we all know it. The Mumbo Chicken Sandwich is all you need to order. Seriously, one of the best fried chicken sandwiches I've ever had. I was so sad when I finished it. I had passed by this place a few times and thought the outside was eye catching and was excited to finally try it out. We ordered our food online for pickup. Everything came out great and was ready in about 10-15 minutes from when I ordered so was easy to walk in, pick up and walk out. There didn't seem to be any indoor seating (or maybe it was somewhere else?), there definitely was outdoor seating under a covered spot. Parking was pretty easy, in and out. We also got the potato wedge which were good and the Mac and cheese. I think there's some sort of old bay seasoning in the Mac and cheese...I didn't dislike it, but it was different.
