This Trader Joe is on the small side, and being in Maryland they don't carry alcohol. Nevertheless, it has most of what I need. I want to give a special shoutout to the international foods Trader Joe sources. This is generally a TJ strong suit, but here I want to mention a few they absolutely nail: Mini samosas: most Indian restaurants in the US serve samosas that have thick doughy shells and are overstuffed with potato filling. But the ones I really love are the Gujarati kind, with thin exteriors and better proportioned, more flavorful filling. This is the kind TJ carries. Oh my heart! Beef Birria: cooked long and slow, so the tomato, vinegar and chili meld into a deep, complex sauce to flavor the beef. The meat itself is so tender it falls easily apart, perfect filling for a tortilla. Takes me right back to Mexico. MultiPurpose Japanese seasoning: I originally bought this to make a seaweed mayonnaise that I wanted to serve with salmon. It turned out beautifully, but pretty soon I was sprinkling the seasoning on all manner of dishes, bringing them alive on my tongue and giving me a new reason for being excited about food! read more

Positives: + Cashier employees are super friendly + Flower section is nice Negatives: - The store is relatively small and unintuitive - Less variety than at other stores - Not many employees in the aisles if you need help The parking is also a bit of a negative as it can be a cramped, but that's not TJs' fault. It's fine if if you need basics and household products for less than big brands. Been coming to this TJ location since it opened and love shopping here. Yes, it's compact yet fully stocked with a wide selection of great food, including kosher products, at a very reasonable price. As I'm not a big fan of grocery stores, for me...it's a blessing to get what I need without running my legs off looking for it. This location has excellent management and staff, always friendly and helpful. Nice clean trader joes with friendly staff. It is probably closest one to us in Downtown Silver Spring and the FLASH goes there. Food selection is great. This was probably my first ever Trader Joe's! I remember coming here years ago for their plantain chips. I've always found them well stocked with friendly employees. I came here for the 3rd time today. It's not very close to home so haven't been in a while, but I'll be returning. Attempted to grocery shop with an almost 2 month old, so I was pushing a stroller and shopping cart. The girl helping to bag at the register offered to help me with my bags/cart to the car. There's no service like that anymore, so I appreciated it. The other staff I encountered in the store were friendly and helpful also. It's a small store but has all that you need. Found some interesting foods and snacks that I'm looking forward to trying and also some old favorites like their white cheddar popcorn. The store was clean and well-stocked as well. I have gone by this location a few times and decided that I would make this a stop recently. It was honestly the only thing in the plaza I intended to visit. After my interaction with this place, I am glad it was the only thing I visited in this plaza. This plaza, parking wise, is a mess. You have to fight to get in the parking lot to begin with and then you have to fight to find a parking spot. Word of advice, take the first spot you come upon. It is the only way to get a spot. Then when you leave, try to do it as fast as you can as well. Inside is just as much chaos as it is outside. Be prepared to run through this store and just about tackle people to get to the item that you want. Once you finish with an aisle you get to battle in the next aisle with the people you'd hope your wouldn't run into for the rest of the store. It was honestly like a push and shove event in here. I had to stop being polite in here and just start shoving my way into shelves to grab my items I wanted and needed. A really friendly, well-stocked shop with outstanding service. I absolutely love shopping here because I know I will find what I need and it will be fresh and plentiful. I've always bought multiple bottles of the Kalamata olive oil imported from Greece, but it has been out of stock for some time since the COVID disruptions in trade. Not their fault: I understand that China is now importing more olive oil than ever. I still buy my olive oil there, as well as Greek canned food, low-sugar jams, the enormous chocolate bars from Belgium... a really asset to the neighborhood. read more

I've been shopping here for YEARS!! The best Trader Joe's in the area. I go out of my way to go here. Clean, organized, friendly. Plenty of parking! Most all crew members very personable and helpful. When they had the sampling station man, this place was great to shop at! I was spoiled with friendliness and great dinner ideas!! Kids loved it! This was NOT the case at other Trader Joe's. MOM's organic market used to be this way in College Park. They are still good but Trader Joe's beats them in customer services at this location. MoM's quality and variety is awesome but, for basics THIS LOCATION gets you in and out with a warm feeling. The diversity is employees is also great. Management excellent and it reflects in their hiring and how they service the community. They still have that human, we care about the community vibe. Food is delicious and it's usually very well stocked, with pretty good prices. This is a place where you can also get cards for $1 which is great while grocery shopping. They also have grab and go food salads and sandwiches! Novelty desserts, ethnic frozen food option, grass fed meat, unique chocolates, variety of breads and delicious baked good! Their donuts are my favorite and their dark chocolate. They have their own brand of dark chocolate that's delicious! This location handled COVID AMAZINGLY!! I just went grocery shopping for the first time in three weeks. Trader Joe's made it swift and safe. There was a line outside, but it moved quickly. Once inside, there were no crowds, and they had everything! Milk, eggs, my favorite cookies! Lots of frozen foods to explore. I even bought elote and everything bagel spices for the first time. Now I need to cook my Argentine shrimp with their soyaki sauce. I feel normal again with a fully stocked kitchen. Checkout was easy with only one person in front of me. Keep your reusable bags at home for now. We will get through this. Thank you Trader Joe's staff for all you are doing to keep us safe and well fed. read more

I was heading home in a different direction, saw TJs & popped in. One of the shorter lines I've experienced with the same navigation of staggering customers to get inside while offering complimentary Hand Sanitizer. As with other locations, there's a dedicated employee disinfecting the carts & baskets. Once in, I got all my goodies & even lucked upon a new flavor of Miyoko's Vegan Cream Cheese - Sensational Scallions aka Chives. To note, there is not a wine/beer section here, only at the DC/VA locations. This store has better guidance in ushering customers to checkout. & of course, the helpful & friendly Hawaiian clad employees at one's service. read more

I've honestly never been to a TJs where the customer service was not stellar and this one was on track. TJs always seems to hire the best people. 5 stars for the employees It's your typical Trader Joe's. This location is on the smaller side and the parking lot is a nightmare. For this I deducted a star. It just feels very tight and confined. I've been to this location twice and they seem pretty well stocked. As with all TJ it's probably best to shop during the day and best to avoid on the weekends. I went on a Sunday and you honestly could not move in the aisle with the shopping carts. read more

Any grocery trip that starts with Chuck Brown blaring from the speakers outside the store, I know is going to be a good one. I was so busy grooving that I forgot I was supposed to be grocery shopping. Unsurprisingly, the store was bright, neat, clean, and well organized. Everything was easy to find and come of course, all of the staff were super nice and helpful. I loved that they had a wide selection of frozen and prepared dishes from all over the world. Korean inspired bulgogi and kimchi fried rice. Aloo Chat. Chicken shumai. Beef tamales. Yes please! The floral selection was exactly what I expected from Trader Joe's. They always have such a unique and gorgeous selection of flowers. Plus, Trader Joe's is the only store where I can readily find calla lilies... One of my favorite flowers. To my delight, they sell calla lilies in a variety of unique and gorgeous colors. On this trip, I found some peach colored ones in the bouquet I purchased. Hello spring! I was not prepared for the wide array of sweets and snacks.... So. Many. Snacks. Cookies, pastries, chocolate, ginger, cheese, more chocolate, nuts, crackers, crisps, even more chocolate.... Whether you're 'being healthy' or enjoying your cheat day...Whatever you crave, I guarantee this store has something for it. I love this Trader Joe's not just because it's closest to my house but also because they always have what I need, at a price my stingy self can agree to, and with fresh produce and a huge selection of frozen foods. I was impressed that this Trader Joe's has several kinds of brie perfect for baked brie--French Brie for $8.99 per pound and light Brie for $6.50 per pound and regular Brie for $6.50. The staff are also super, super friendly. Several lanes were open and moving fast! My cashier today was Rebekah, who was friendly, delightful, conversational, and efficient. The credit card console was programmed to make creepy Halloween music instead of the standard beeps. Do not park in front! Go straight to the back--plenty of spots there, it's quiet but well lit, and no dealing with headaches waiting in the front parking lot for people to pull out of spots or repark or agonize over slow walkers or children treating the parking lot as a playground. read more

I love Trader Joe's and never really have complaints about any of the locations. I would definitely say Maryland could do with a few more locations though. It always gives a neighborhood grocery store/ farmers market feel and the staff are so friendly and helpful. The location is very easy to navigate and it's easy to find what you need. I like TJ's but it isn't my regular grocery spot, so going is a treat. This location is super easy for me and is always well stocked of the staples. The good - great diverse selections. I have only once picked something up at TJ that wasn't great and that's because I misread the ingredients and it contained my mortal enemy (olives). The staff is cheerful and remain so even when asked for help. Flow in the shop is pretty good. The meh - This parking lot sucks. It has gotten better since the start of the pandemic (not 100% sure why). They restock constantly (which is good) but usually seem like it is during the busiest part of the day so their trolleys are blocking the displays or cases. The bad - I have seen little enforcement of masking and social distancing in shop by the staff. However, most people have been decent enough when reminded to fix their masks or to back up have. read more

Top notch customer service! The staff are always helpful and accommodating. They go out of their way to help look for an item if it's no longer on the shelves. The lines can get pretty long especially during evenings and weekends but it moves swiftly. Produce and their assortment of breads is the main reason I come here! Fresh and always on point! I am a huge fan of Trader Joe's in general, and this one is one of the better ones in the area (if only they could sell the two buck chuck!:( ) Though crowded, the employees are wonderful and work quickly at checkout. The selection is great, and products move quickly. The worst thing about this TJ's is the parking. A few things to note. Trader Joe's doesn't trade, he sells. I suppose exchanging items for cash could be considered trading, but to be that is just selling. Tons of free parking in the shopping center. Takes cash, credit card and mobile payments. This grocery store is located on a busy Columbia pike road. They have tons of produce, frozen foods, protein, kitchen pantry, bakery and plants. The express lines are approximately 4-6 lanes. However, you have to wait in 1 line to find an opening cashier. Otherwise, the place is great. The staff here are extremely friendly and they have tons of seasonal plants here throughout the year that are rotated each week. Their fruits and veggies are very fresh and it appears the quality control set by management in this location is great. I normally come here after my workout which is on the way and very convenient. Parking can be tricky especially if you come here during rush hour and weekends. There is parking behind the building in case the front parking lot is full. There is also a gas station in the shopping center if you need gas too. Also, it's located near Starbucks and California Tortilla. read more

Visiting from California, I was so happy to see something familiar- TJ's. The parking lot in the front is pretty crazy so I'd recommend just bypassing that mess and driving toward the back lot which eventually loops around to the front anyway. In terms of stock, they have everything you'd expect from any TJs but their frozen section was only 1 aisle. I was still able to find everything I wanted, but I'm not sure if their products were more condensed or if they did truly have a smaller section. The organization of the store was a little funky for me because of the checkout lanes. There's only 3 lines in the store as each line is for 3-4 registers so the lines are ridiculously long and stretch far into the aisles which made it impossibly difficult to shop and patrons and their carts blocked everything. Sure, it's a little crazy here but people need their Trader Joes! read more

I like this one, and I like the one near Costco in Elkridge, but given the choice I would choose this one. They seem to have most things in stock all the time, and if you are looking for something obscure (gluten free Norwegian crisp bread? Weird English cheddar?) the employees are always happy to help. What I really like though is how fast they are to check you out and get you on your way. Sometimes, I stand there thinking for a few minutes about whether I should buy the dark chocolate wedges and wishing they had milk chocolate ones, and, whoa... they're done already and I'm all bagged up. If I had one wish it would be that the parking lot was less busy and the spaces were a bit bigger but I'm useless at parking that's on me and you can't blame TJs for the Burnt Mills parking lot. I like that there is a Chicos and a Starbucks here. I wouldn't say I am a massive fan of either, but I like both occasionally. There is a fancy pet food store which is also nice, but I prefer the one up the road in Maple Lawn because it's better lit. read more

Trader Joe's is great! The produce is always fresh, and so much better than Giant or Safeway. They have so many unique products, and always have a tasting in the back left hand corner of the store. The prices are great! I recommend trying the blood orange seltzer, and mango salsa. The roasted peanuts are a better price than any grocery store even when on sale. The staff is super friendly and the store is always stocked and clean. The only downside is the parking lot, as it is always busy. I feel like that is the case with most Trader Joe's though ... Given the circumstances, I think people working in the grocery stores should be extra appreciated. I waited in line for 20 minutes before the store opened. I estimate by the time it actually did, at least 100 people charged in as well. Many shelves were bare and employees could be seen stocking up as much as they could before the store opened and while the store was operating. Somehow in 5 minutes, I did $70 worth of damage, stocking up on rice, milk, frozen Indian food, avocados, and bananas. Our cashier was super friendly and polite given the chaos and crowd. read more

I usually come to Trader Joe's in the afternoon and there aren't many people but this time I ended up stopping Sunday evening and that was no bueno! Sunday night is a nightmare with lines all the way to the back of the store. I almost couldn't navigate store because of all the traffic. I gained renewed appreciation for Trader Joe's after a stop at Safeway to pick up some party food, in the form of Bagel Bites, which cannot be purchased at Trader Joe's. And yeah, I brought Bagel Bites to a party. I know my audience. (Audience = drunk people) I hadn't been in a non-TJ's food aisle in a while, and I found myself looking at all the higher price tags in disbelief! Sure, $3.29 isn't that much more than $2.88, but all those little differences add up! Like, to a whole 'nother package of Bagel Bites I could've bought! Also, no one in a Hawaiian shirt suggested a dip, garnish or side dish for the Bagel Bites I picked up, which definitely would've happened at Trader Joe's, if they had Bagel Bites. Plus, there were no samples. I had to pacify myself with a stolen peapod. Not the same. Trader Joe's all the way! Oh, but yeah the parking sucks. However, insider secret, there's parking in the back! Drive straight past the lot on your left when you enter, there's almost always a spot in the back, and no trauma when you pull have to back out again. Enjoy! read more

There are lots of vegan options (jackfruit crabcakes, roasted seaweed,edemame, breakfast patties etc.) and very unique pre-made meals here. I love the decor of a Hawaiian-yet-local design with all the checkout stations having local street names on them. Joseph and George have been especially helpful whenever I've had an issue there. Wish the parking lot was bigger but I actually worked at this shopping center so I wouldn't discredit them for this. read more
