What are you looking for when you visit a local grocery store? I need a clean store, fresh looking fruits and vegetables, a nice selection of sale items, and great service. Well, Harris Teeter checks all of those boxes. I am usually there twice a week and the people who work there are the nicest. They help me, if I need anything. They stock a wide variety of products. I started buying baby bok choy here. And, they have loads of sauces whether you are looking for rice vinegar or sesame oil. They have a variety of gluten free baked products. I always buy their gluten free cupcakes, cookies, and pastas. My favorite day is Thursday, when they offer a prime rib dinner for $20 dollars. You get a large piece of prime rib with vegetables and potatoes. You do pay a little more for the great service and convenience, but, I think it is worth it. So, if you are looking for a grocery store, I recommend Harris Teeter in Park Potomac. read more

Nice location but horrible parking options. Coming here on the weekends and especially is a huge pain. This store is on the smaller side when it comes to products and size but keeps the HT quality and customer service you'd expect. This location is super close to where I receive my PT. Parking is plentiful. It's never busy on the weekdays around 3pm. I'm still learning my way around this store as it is set up differently than my usual location. They always are fully stocked with what I come in for, though I have never done a big shop here, just essentials after my therapy. I feel HT has great sale prices. I got snow crab legs for $6.99/lb; cheaper than Aldi. I really like that I can make a quick, hassle-free stop here, then be on the Beltway before there is too much traffic. read more

I needed to buy a bouquet of fresh flowers, and I was in Park Potomac, so I decided to drop in to see what they had. FYI, I've purchased flowers here before that were ok, so I thought I might get lucky again. To my dismay, the floral department wasn't staffed, and there was a note instructing clients to help themselves or ask someone from the produce department for help. Really? So you're going to understaff to maximize profits, and then you're going to add additional responsibilities to a sister department? Not cool. I looked around, and the majority of the flowers were in poor shape, with the exception of the pricey refrigerated flowers. I wanted to have 2 bouquets assembled with the flowers of my choice, but given the condition of the flowers, this just wasn't going to happen at Harris. I left, and headed to Giant (minutes away) where I found exactly what I was looking for, and the florist assembled two beautiful bouquets for me. Do better, HT. read more

This grocer store is amazing. The produce is fresh and they offer a wide variety. The apple pie in the bakery tastes like homemade. The staff is friendly and helpful. I am a big fan of HARRIS TEETERS. We moved here from Florida and we were use to shopping at Publix an excellent grocery store. So happy we found HT here in Maryland. read more

I visit the location several times a week. I find the selection and quality of products to be excellent. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I find that timing is important for some products such as produce. They have excellent produce and their inventory sells quickly so get there by 2:00pm at the latest. I also shop at Food Lion for some products to save money. If you follow their sales handouts and app you can save substantially. As a senior, I always go on Thursday to save 5% on my total bill. Also, I love their pharmacy staff who is always very friendly and helpful. Thankfully, their pharmacy isn't overwhelmed like CVS so you get quick service. read more

THere's a lot to like about this grocery store. Convenient location, frequent good sale prices, nice layout and it's my go-to spot for food shopping since it opened. But over the years, there's been a significant and noticeable change in the quality of the management. The managers on duty in the past were very customer oriented, accommodating and kind. In the past couple years, I've observed quite the opposite. Not only have I seen managers treating people with aloofness and impatience, but at times, they are downright snarky. I would give this store one star if it wasn't for the fact that many of the staff are very nice and helpful - but of course they don't make the decisions that result in out of date or spoiling product being left on shelves for days beyond having spoiled. My family have been shopping here for three years because before we moved we were using the Harris Teeter near Rio, Gaithersburg and it was very good. This one however I have noticed the overall quality going sharply downward in the last 18 months. The vegetable section often has older, near spoiled products. The fish section is of particular concern since the fish is rarely fresh and I often forgo fish once I have looked over what's on display, which is generally drying, discolored fish - dangerous! I asked when they get their deliveries and was told, "I dunno, comes when it comes...." I have on more than a couple occasions picked up milk and found it almost sour, in spite of the sell by date not having always passed. I recently purchased some humus which was moldy a couple days after opening. I checked and found moldy humus can have mycotoxins, among other severe food poisoning risks and had to dump it, but only after inadvertently having a small taste... read more

This store was disappointing. There wasn't a two seat cart for my kiddos. I tried to put her in the main basket but staff wouldn't allow it. My one kiddo was too short to be walking around in such a tight store. She was squished between adults pushing through 3 times in the store -- one time it pinched her finger. The design of this store was terrible. I won't ever return with kiddos and because I do most my shopping with my kiddos, I probably won't return. With the lack of space to maneuver, I would be surprised if this place was ADA compliant. read more

I have been going to this Harris Teeter for years, and have consistently been happy with the store's cleanliness, selections, and staff. Today I was in a hurry to find a few things that I needed to make a key lime pie, and was having some difficulty finding two particular items. A friendly store employee named Damon came to the rescue, helping me to quickly locate the items, and I was on my way. The team at the check out counter were also friendly and efficient. Sean, the Meat Manager from the Old G-Town Road store called here on my behalf to see if they had the Beyond Beef in stock. They did & he said Scott would be waiting for me. As soon as I approached the Meat Department, Scott had the notion it was me & had my packages ready to go. In addition to his friendly customer service, Scott offered me a few more packages. I didn't want to be greedy, yet he said he had many boxes to stock. Plus, they were on sale by $3 which is a steal...no pun intended. Before heading to the register, Scott told me to feel free to call him anytime in advance & he or his team would put some on hold for me. Great sale & even better service. read more

This is my local HT. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Items are well stocked although I have had a couple visits where the produce section looked like someone wiped them out, but they usually re-stock within a day. Lines can be a little long at checkout. But I think it's mostly cause people have their carts full. I'm not a big fan of self checkout but when I do use it, there's always staff available if something goes wrong. read more

Not my favorite Harris Teeter location but definitely still a great store. I think its only really convenient for people who reside in the Potomac area. Much of their items are pricey and there isn't a ton of deals or coupons available that I found personally beneficial. I do have to say though, their groceries, produce and other items are well verse and they generally have much healthier items compared to other common chain grocery stores. I believe this location may have different operating hours with COVID-19 going on, but it's still open with to the public. Please be kind and mindful for the employees working here to help keep our community pushing forward during this time. I've tried my best to limit any type of cross-contamination and exposure onto others via contact or airborne. There's only a few employees running the stores and mostly everything is just self-check out at the moment. I believe the store also is requiring shoppers to use credit/debit cards over cash options to minimize any risk. 5 stars for its excellent seafood dept and lots of seafood variety. What makes it 5 stars in my book are the fabulous lobster rolls for only $7.99. 5.5 oz of delicious sweet lobster meat with mayo and small pieces of celery. They even have lobster salad too. It's my goto place for steaks and they also have dry-aged steaks. Just need to get those steaks when they are on sale. A bit pricey. Great prime rib Thursday ($9.99) with huge cut of beef and two sides and other weekly specials. Wish Giant and Safeway did these specials too. My neighborhood grocery store. Located in Park Potomac, this Harris Teeter shares its parking lot with two very popular restaurants - so parking on the weekends can be tough. I usually park in the indoor garage. The pluses about this store is really the meat section. The steaks are top quality and I always buy them here. They are thick-cut like restaurant size and usually very tender. They also have dry-aged steaks which are a little pricey, but worth it if you like that flavor. The seafood department is pretty good too. Now, this store really needs to up it's prepared foods section. I've tried several items and they taste like it's been sitting in the case for days and is usually really dry. Maybe we are spoiled by Whole Foods and Balducci which have an excellent prepared foods section, but they need to do something to attract more customers. Now, on occasion, they did offer some weekly specials. They did offer a Prime Rib deal for $9.99 on Thursdays which was an excellent. They gave you a huge piece of Prime Rib with sides. For several weeks, they offered excellent BBQ - huge portions with three sides. If you subscribe to the Washington Post, they usually have a $10 off coupon when you spend more then $50 every other Wednesday so it helps with the bill. read more

I don't have a harris teeter near my house but I was in the area and had some time to kill so I decided to check it out. It's basically like any other grocery store you go to but just a little different. I usually go to giant because it's near my house but this is definitely better than giant. Most of the items are decent priced. Nothing too expensive but at the same time, nothing too cheap. Like other stores, they have a self check out and an actual cashier in other lanes. The cool thing about this place is that they have pizza, sushi, and other foods you can grab on the way out. Probably good for you if you work in the area. They also have a little coffee spot where you can sit down and eat. It doesn't have an actual barista but they do have a coffee machine. The best thing about this location is how clean the location is. read more

I visited the Park Potomac store on Thursday April 16 around 7:10pm. There was a note on the door saying that the store would close due to covid-19 at 8pm. I entered the sliding doors and got a shopping cart. While I was getting a cart, a store employee walked into the vestibule and locked the sliding doors I had just come in. He then locked the internal sliding doors there. The doors are marked with stickers that say in case of emergency, they will open by pushing, so him locking the doors did not affect this safety feature. I went to the vegetable section and started shopping. I noticed an employee drive an electric shopping cart (for people with disabilities) in front of the sliding doors and block them. I approached them and said, "you can't block these doors, it's against the law, this is a marked emergency exit." I was told very rudely and forcibly by an employee, "I WILL MOVE IT, GO DO YOUR SHOPPING, SIR". I stood there and he didn't move the cart, he started stocking some fruit. I asked if he was going to move it, and he repeated his forceful statement, "I WILL MOVE IT, GO DO YOUR SHOPPING, SIR". But he took no action to move it. I said I was going to send a picture to the fire marshal, took out my phone and snapped a picture of the cart in front of the doors. I then turned to the employee and to my shock he had his cell phone out and was taking my picture. So I took his. I walked away, very frustrated, and a few minutes later I noticed the cart was gone. When I finished my shopping and got in line, I noticed a young lady push a regular shopping cart in front of the doors, blocking them. On my way out I said to the man who initially locked the doors (not the one who took my picture), "you know it is illegal to block emergency exits?" He said "OK" and I left. What I want to know is why did this employee take my picture? Are customers not allowed to complain about things in your stores? Is this photo going to be circulated among Harris Teeter employees? Will I see it on facebook somewhere? Is it Harris Teeter's policy that employees should take pictures of employees that they don't like? What guidelines are employees given to take photos of customers under any circumstances? I have attached photos for your convenience. read more

I went to the fish/meat counter on 6/13, staffed by a Caucasian guy in a black face covering and hat. He served me the raw fish with his bare hands and glove on only one hand. I asked him to please change into two gloves and serve me again. He was obviously annoyed which bothered me not one bit. In this time of COVID how dare he! I reported the incident to an acting manager, a young woman at the front desk, who assured me that she would speak to him. Without supervision I have little hope that he will comply with health guidelines that he should have been following , COVID or no COVID. In a time when there is unemployment he should be sacked for posing a health menace to customers and find someone with brains and a conscience. Let him go sell beer at Trump rallies. This store is close to myself and others but that is the only positive (and maybe the sushi). The rest is horrible. For example, the dairy products WILL consistently spoil weeks prior to their expiration or be spoiled upon purchase (including milk, cheeses, etc). The produce is equally low quality. All this along with high prices make for a pathetic grocery store. Update 11/24/19- Since the store is so close, someone bought yogurts there last week. Guess what? All spoiled! Seriously, you must have your refrigerators at a low temp or leave products out prior to stocking! On our last isle, which is the eggs and cheese isle, I went to get some sour cream and the HT employee was stocking the shelves and he threw open the door and nearly hit my face. I visited (5/6/18) in search of Swiffer Wet Pads. Great for quick cleaning. They were sold out @ North Bethesda location. They are on sale this week. My friend, (a frequent shopper) @ the Potomac Woods location called their customer service for said stock update. Score! Potomac Woods had some & held them @ customer service. Off we went. We arrived & inquired & as promised the "Swiffers" were @the counter. We thanked store associate "Ben" paid & mission accomplished. Added bonus we used our coupons too. A lot of things wrong with this place but you should make sure to CHECK EXPIRATION DATES ON EVERYTHING YOU BUY. I've noticed recently that this store is stocked full of items that are within a week or past their expiration dates. I understand stuff like that can happen but I feel like this store knows what's going on but they are perfectly okay with selling people expired/about to expire groceries. Generally, this is one of the smaller HT's around with less options than the other ones in the area but it is in a convenient location for many people, which I assume is the only reason people would go here. Also, I had a really bad experience with a cashier ("Sarah B") who was so rude and unprofessional. Maybe she was having a bad day, but I have bad days too and I don't take it out on strangers I don't know, especially not if they are a customer. She threw my basket and was being snappy when answering simple questions I had about a price variance I noticed. And then she got frustrated when I was entering my phone number into the cc machine...sorry your cc machine is crap and being laggy but maybe you could just enter it yourself into your terminal or better yet, open up the self-service kiosk so I don't have to deal with miserable people like you in the first place? Go to the Harris Teeter down the street on Old Georgetown Road or the one in Copley Place which are much better options. read more

I'm a fan of the Harris Teeter chain except this location. I only come here coz its open all night. But Lord help you if you come here after midnight. They have just the ONE checkout lane open! The self checkout counters are closed! So you have to stand in line to get thru checkout. Would be better if they keep the self checkout open and use that one employee to monitor the lanes! Also, parking is a pain too since it is shared with the other retail and restaurants in the area. read more

It's like walking into a fish market. No matter what time is it, 8 AM or 8 PM, a powerful smell of raw seafood slams your face as soon as you step foot in this place. I understand they have a small section for seafood but that shouldn't mean that the whole place should smell like the ocean 24/7. This is as clean, well-lit, spacious, and extensive as any grocery store can be, with some extra amenities to boot. My wife and I have been shopping here since it opened, owing both to our relative proximity and the multitude of coupon-oriented sales "The Teet" offers. There are tons of great deals every week throughout the store, and selections are extensive. I love the cheese selection and their dry-aged beef. As far as parking, there is street parking, a medium-sized above ground lot, and spaces underground. Although you can't buy beer inside, there is a beer/wine shop next door! read more

The croissants and lemon poppy seed muffins are very good. The white flour croissants come frozen from France and they bake them daily. Flaky and buttery goodness. Their lump crab cakes are also very good. Full of crab meat and tasty. This past week, they marked down their lobster rolls, so I decided to try them. Had low expectations, since Maryland is a long way from New England, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that they were superb. Just the right amount of mayo and chopped celery. The rolls weren't so great, but so what. The lobster meat tasted great. I'd give this store 5 stars, but I have a beef with their beef. Bought a tough steak and ground beef that didn't taste freshly ground. I will try another time and hope that they improve. Also, they run out of meat by 4 pm on weekends sometimes. Almost all of the staff are friendly and greet you and ask you if you need assistance, which makes the shopping experience enjoyable. Once, an older guy barged in on my self check out. He just took over and gave me a disdainful look. I asked him why he did this, and he told me I was too old to learn how to do it. I stood up for my abilities and explained that he was age shaming me, and he's been trying to be more respectful. There used to be a woman near the front of the store who was just plain aggressive toward customers, so I used to avoid her like the plague. She doesn't seem to be there anymore. read more

Update 06/2018: Harris Teeter Park Potomac Pharmacy should not be in operation. My hospital discharge medications mistakenly got sent to this pharmacy, probably due to my former primary care physician getting involved. What a disaster! HT didn't have common blood pressure medications or pain medications in stock. But the worst thing they did was fill only partially a steroid Rx that was a vital part of my chemotherapy, and they left out important instructions on dosage on both the bottle and accompanying printout. They provided only 24 tablets, and I was supposed to take 10 tablets twice/week (they provided only two full doses). The result: For two weeks I took a dose of one tablet only (one-tenth of the intended dose) for important chemotherapy. As soon as I transferred the prescription to CVS, everything was cleared up, but my oncologist was very upset. See accompanying photos comparing HT bottle and printout with no dosage instructions, to transferred CVS bottle with clear instructions on dosage. Review 04/21/2018: This store started out so well, and managers used to bend over backwards to please customers. Since shopping here for the past five years, everything has gone downhill--from customer service, to product stock, to the pharmacy. That's too bad because it's only a mile from our home. Why do they constantly advertise products on sale in the Park Potomac Store, when that store does not have the items? To get emails, I had to designate Park Potomac as my store. Then HT sends me emails claiming they are my Personalized Weekly Specials. A few items on my personalized ad I have bought there before, but most I would never buy. This week I went to buy only one item on my Personalized Weekly Specials, and it took about 40 minutes to determine that the store had discontinued the product, which I had bought there a couple weeks before. The Crown/Gaithersburg store has items that the Park Potomac store claims they cannot get in stock or have been discontinued. Sometimes the store is totally out of a product. I was there once when they had no brown sugar. No brown sugar in a grocery store? Some of the managers there berate their employees in front of customers. One of the most helpful and friendly employees I count on in the produce dept. (who can find ANYTHING for me in the store) was chewed out by the nasty produce manager. I heard the grouchy pharmacist say to a young male assistant, "What-- are you blind?! It's written right there!" Another customer and I looked at each other in disbelief. The lower level employees there are mostly very nice and helpful, so it's management that's the problem. Forget it if you're in a hurry and need customer service. There are never enough managers working so that one can stay behind the customer service desk more than a couple minutes, because they have to run back to a checkout register to help customers waiting in the long lines. I was in the store once when Corporate was there, and every single employee I have ever seen in the store was there to make it look like the store was always fully staffed. The pharmacy will call you over and over with their robocall if you don't pick up your prescription as soon as it's ready. I requested multiple times that they stop the robocalls, but they kept coming. When I finally got them to REALLY remove my phone number from my profile, then I was prevented from ordering refills via phone menu. Recently I brought an empty prescription bottle in for a refill and left it with the tech at the pharmacy drop off counter. I told her I was going to do my shopping and would stop by in about 30 minutes to pick up my refill. I went back 40 minutes later to get my refill, and she said it wasn't ready because they had to "verify it." Huh? Then she asked for my name, and when I told her, she said okay, that my prescription would be ready in 20 minutes! Since when does verifying my own prescription bottle involve stating my name way later? I am already transferring my prescriptions elsewhere. The deli counter used to have a nice variety, but recently it looks like they have only a few items. I do like the sushi counter, where the employees (independent of HT?) will customize my order with minimal wait. read more

I'm just going to leave the facts here and you all can make up your own minds about what happened with my Frankenchicken! Friday night my husband stopped off to get a cooked chicken from the store on his way home. I was working in the basement when he got home and he served me a chicken leg (which he knows is my favorite) with some potato salad he also purchased from the store at the same time. He also had a leg on his plate. We finished our plate and he asked me if I would like another leg?!!! What other leg? You bought two chickens? Nope, there was another leg in the package! I get up to inspect said chicken and it frankly looked as if it had been chewed by a Rottweiler. The spine of the chicken was broken and was on the outside, and there were no wings on the chicken at all. So, what we purchased was a busted up carcass, with only one leg actually attached, and two other (random) legs put in the package (presumably to make what they considered to be a whole chicken, given that the two wings were missing for some reason). Aside from the two legs that we already had eaten, the whole lot went in the bin. I will leave it to you all to decide what caused this chicken to be sold in this state but in my imagination it was nothing good. Shame on them for selling this. And, no I don't want my money back - it is neither worth my time or gas money for a $5 dollar bird, but know that I am done and will never return. If you wanted my $5 dollars so bad that you would serve food like this, you are welcome but it will be the last $5 of my money you will ever see. Just disgusting! read more

Eddie is the head chef of his sushi business in Harris Teeter park Potomac and he is absolutely wonderful. His work, his personality, his team are all extremely talented people who care deeply of what they do. I recently ordered a tray from him for my younger sisters birthday and it was beautiful, delicious, and absolutely stunning.
