The owner was incredibly friendly, and we ended up striking up a conversation. During our conversation, we discovered that we're both originally from New York and both small business owners, which made for such a nice and unexpected connection. He was genuinely kind and welcoming, and interactions like that are one of the things I appreciate most about supporting local businesses. I also really enjoyed the atmosphere. The space was relaxed and quiet without feeling empty. There were people enjoying their food and drinks, working on their laptops, and simply settling in for a while. It felt like the kind of neighborhood coffee shop where you can grab a great drink, get some work done, have a meeting, or just enjoy some peaceful time to yourself. Great coffee, warm hospitality, and a comfortable environment made this a wonderful find. I'll definitely be stopping back in the next time I'm in the area, and I'm looking forward to trying more of the menu!

Ironically, it's close to a Starbucks in Spring Valley in Northwest D.C. Walk inside and order a pastry or one of their many coffees. Their almond butter latte is among my favorites. The actual space is large with plenty of seats from tables, booth seating, to high top tables. There are plenty of outlets and strong free WiFi. Restrooms are in the very back.

The seasonal Donuts and the Croissant Tarts keep me coming back! Best Donuts - Pumpkin Pie Donut, Tiramisu Donut, Key Lime Pie, Boston Cream, and Hot Cocoa Nutella donut. The Strawberry and Raspberry have a Jelly/Jam filling. I wasn't a big fan of the Cookie Butter Donut, Cannoli donut, or the Dot Cake Donut, or S'mores donut. The Kitchen Sink cookie was an interesting blend of salty flavors (chips, pretzels, toffee). For Valentine's Day, the Linzer sugar cookie filled with raspberry jam was delicious! So glad I grabbed the last one by 11am on Saturday! For Mother's Day, there were colorful macaroons. All of the fillings with the donuts and croissants are whipped and pretty light. There's a parking garage next door and you can get parking validated for 1 hour. While there's plenty of seating inside, it can get packed over the weekends. My main issue has to do with the WiFi. I'm sure there will be people who say "why can't you just enjoy your coffee and some nice conversation with a new friend, or read a good book"? I appreciate that sentiment, but I do a lot of freelance work at coffee shops because the atmosphere allows me to get a lot of work done. But the WiFi at this location has two things going against it: 1) You only get an hour of WiFi per visit; 2) The WiFi is awful and virtually useless. My kids have dance rehearsal close to this location so I have an opportunity to visit every weekend. But I often find myself going to Starbucks (please put down your torches and pitchforks!) for a much more consistent experience.

This lovely little shop is a bit different from their Georgetown counterpart -- for one, they don't have any indoor seating and consist of just a tiny little window that you can order from and a small patio you can pop a squat on when the weather is nice -- but sports the same outstanding coffee and friendly service. Their coffee is great, all roasted in their historic Georgetown spot and featuring great caramel-y, fruity undertones. And, while they have a small shop in Bethesda, it is mighty; all of the drinks are prepared with expert precision and efficiency. You might have to wait in line for a bit, since there are only two people working here and it gets pretty busy, especially during the weekends, but it's 100% worth the wait.
