I can't tell if the reason the customer service is so awful is because of the lack of good training by CVS management in general or if it's because of the younger generation who work there. I don't mean to insult most of the younger working generations. I'm hoping it's a minority of individuals, but when it comes to being helpful, CVS is very weak. Recently, my prescriptions changed for the Gramercy location, which is closing, to Upper Rock. One prescription had no refills. Therefore, the way I understand it, they didn't have it (technically) added to their system? This is even though it was in the system of Gramercy. But, what makes it worse is the pharmacist would neither phone my doctor's office nor the Gramercy location to help get the refillable prescription in their store's system. Is this laziness? Is this policy? Whatever it is, it doesn't make sense. I should add that when I talked to an individual from that pharmacy a few days before and mentioned all the prescriptions that needed to be refilled, that individual did not inform me there would be a problem with them contacting my doctor. To highlight the ineptness of the location, I have requested receiving text messages informing me when prescriptions are ready for pickup, and I am not receiving them. read more

I am so happy with my CVS store. My prescriptions are always ready when I need them. The people who work at this pharmacy are fabulous. They are so nice and helpful. They have a great card selection. I always pick up greeting cards when I am there. They usually have my Hershey's miniatures which have been hard to find in the dark chocolate flavor. I always enjoy looking through their holiday decorations. I always end up getting a few for my home. I have the CVS care card, so I can earn money back when I use their coupons. This is a great CVS. Not sure if the cashier was having a bad day or what, but she was very rude to me and several other customers. I did not see her wearing a name tag, so not sure of her name. She gave 1-word replies to the guy in front of me. I had a trouble scanning my coupons at self-checkout and told her the exact ones I put in. I told her they got voided. She said "oh that's because they're probably not from the same card", after she had just given me those coupons literally one minute ago. Not sure if they have a big theft problem here and are just seeing all their customers as thieves? There were 2 employees walking around talking very rudely to one another too, so clearly everyone here is miserable. It was the middle of the day and not crowded so I can't imagine how it'd be during rush hour. read more

6.13.23 I normally go to the Elkridge location in Howard County, but the service has been terrible the last few months due to a staffing shortage. Calls go unanswered, prescriptions take long to be filled, and the lines are always long. This location is the closest to office so I thought I'd give it a try. I called them to see if I could have my prescription transferred over. It was a good first sign when my call was answered. I then checked online and saw that the prescription was transferred. The following day, the prescription was ready by the time promised and I received a text notification. I was so happy to find this location is responsive and timely. This will be my go-to location going forward. read more

I heart this location. A clean and fully stocked CVS. The coupon machine is always working, which is a plus for me because I coupon a lot! On this particular trip, I was in dire need of a pharmacist. I forgot her name, but she helped me get the right meds so I can get back to my old self. There was lots of Valentines day candy on clearance . I like how there is a cashier to check you out. Pharmacy staff was rude and had me waiting over 35 minutes for my prescription because no one told me it was ready. Bad customer service

11/14/22 It would seem I finally found a reason to set foot inside this store. Even before I set foot inside the store I saw an old man wearing a National gray t-shirt appear to be urinating right infront of his vichele. My timing was impeccable. This was back on November 5th 2022, but I still wanted to write out my experience. This store is located in a residential area that is new to me. The area is nice and the store is well stocked. I did not see much of the Halloween stuff, but after some looking around, I came across some masks, costumes, blankets and most importantly Candy Corn and Candy Pumpkins mixed bags. Great stuff for people was ho have sweetthoothes. Bad news for diabetics who like candy. It is amazing how fast Santa stuff comes put, but my guess Santa stuff was already out while Halloween merchandise was out. Just more Christmas stuff was put out after Halloween. It would be nice if Halloween became a Federal Holiday like Thanksgiving and Christmas, but I digress. Anyhow, I came in for deodorant and ended up buy Women's Secret. This Secret happened to be Aluminum Free. It works wonders and doesn't make my armpits itch like Lume does. I have found my go to product. Yes, guys use Secret too. This CVS location was so great when two pharmacists - Kevin and Melissa - were working there because they actually helped me with my prescriptions each month and they would make sure that they would have it in stock by refill time especially if it was often low in supply. I have been to several pharmacies throughout the country over the decades and this was the first place I found that was like this. I had a few major surgeries years ago and they were always helpful and reliable. Unfortunately, they both moved to other places in their careers and this place has become just another pharmacy and it's almost impossible to get them to answer the phone even after 30+ minutes and they were not willing to help me the same way even after I explained how they previously did it. The new pharmacists are nice and I understand they are swamped but I'm looking for someone that will be willing to help out like the others did because it's not against CVS policies and a tremendous help. read more

in general cvs pharmacies don't have a good reputation for their customer service but they are convenient so you keep going back but some cvs locations are so bad that it would be better to go the extra mile to another pharmacy to save your sanity. I recently moved and the cvs at 20 upper Rock circle in Rockville is within a walking distance from my apartment so I transferred my prescriptions to this pharmacy. huge mistake: it takes days for them to get your medications ready even though they have them in stock! they never answer the phone, they have a drive through service but you keep waiting and no one shows up to the window and when you go inside, you have to wait in line for ever because, actually I don't know why. yeah do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. read more

In all fairness, I have to update my previous review. Whatever problems this Pharmacy had before they appear to have been resolved. For the last several months, I have received my prescriptions in a timely manner. You actually get a quick callback when you leave a message for the pharmacist. So I struggled to write this review but have to shed light on this issue. I randomly popped into this specific store a few weeks ago to pick up some laundry detergent and a few other miscellaneous items. However, from the moment I walked into the store, I felt like I was being overly watched, and even followed. Normally, I wouldn't suspect racial profiling at a drug store, but I felt very uncomfortable because of the store associates', and even assistant manager's behavior. They all were watching me, and would even stare incessantly into my shopping basket, but no one actually made direct eye contact with me, or even greeted me, like they would with the white customers (i started to notice that too)... When I was ready to check out, only one store associate was kind enough to help me (this store associate was black). While he was ringing me up, the other store associates would infrequently stare at me and him throughout our transaction. Also, one store associate quickly and sneakily snatched my shopping basket from the ground, as I just finished placing my remaining items on the very limited counter space..(there's a huge plastic partition on the counter for COVID social distancing). It seemed as though he did this to see if I was stowing away items in my basket??? I have never experienced a CVS employee removing a basket while still in a customer's possession, and even if they attempted to do so, they would at least ask before taking it away. Either way, the energy, the behavior, the lack of proprietary at this location is disturbing and disappointing. I might even try this location again, and document my experience because CVS Corporation needs to be made aware of how some of their employees (even the assistant manager) are misrepresenting their brand. This is the CVS in the new Upper Rock Circle area off of Shady Grove Rd. Across from the Red Lobster and the Home Depot. Things I notice that are different about this CVS: *Clearly marked bathrooms *More spaces in the parking lot *Drive through pharmacy *Cleaner *And the customer service at the front was top shelf. The woman cashier was very nice. She asked me if I wanted bags for the ice that I was buying, and made sure that I had the right size and that they were strong and sturdy enough to handle the ice. I was in and out, it's a pretty convenient location ( right off 270 exit 7) No problems with this CVS. Would definitely recommend (though that's off of first impression). read more

Okay so I try to never go to the restroom in a public place but I really needed to go and hey, it's a pharmacy so of course they will be clean. I mean, hospitals, doctors office...pharmacies all suggest some level of cleanliness right? Ummm, wrongggg! I was so disappointed in the condition of that restroom, especially since it was just 9am!! I LOVE this CVS. Pharmacy: I don't usually like CVS pharmacy's but this one in particular was a winner for me. The pharmacist was super nice and took his time to answer my questions in thorough. I never really ask the pharmacist questions but this time I had some insurance questions and he was happy to help (even on Christmas Eve 20 minutes before they closed...ooops). Store: the aisles are always so clean and well organized. All the surrounding CVS's are just so janky and everything is misplaced. Not this CVS! I didn't feel stressed out trying to locate items. Employees: EVERYONE was saying "Can I help you find something?" And wishing everyone happy holidays. This was so nice! I was blown away that they were interactive. All in all, this is my go to CVS now. I wish the store was closer to my apartment but it's worth the 10 minute drive. I truly love CVS and all their knick knacks! read more

I went to drop off a prescription for my daughter in law who was in serious need of a prescription and 2 of the guys that work in the pharmacy were clearly finish with the customer ahead of me were just chatting it up, catching up as I stood there for almost 10 minutes. Finally one of the guys ask me could he help me? I wanted to say, no I'm standing in line for no reason just to be told they didn't have what my daughter in law really needs. I wasn't surprised to compare this CVS's rating with others around Rockville. I basically only use the pharmacy but like others here I travel farther to come here because they are so much better than the other ones I've been to in MD which I hated. Hated Walgreens too. Some good people at those others but the pharmacies sucked. There are 2 main pharmacists, Kevin & Melissa, who have always been helpful with my questions, helping get through the mud of prior authorization and have even called me to tell me updates from difficulties getting a new prescription through my insurance. And the ladies who are their assistants are (usually) friendly and helpful too. Getting my Covid booster next week there instead of my Primary Care Physician. That's gotta say something. Worst pharmacy in town. One of my meds needs to be refrigerated at all times. When I went to pick it up today and it was inside an unrefrigerated bin. When I mentioned the problem they looked at me like I have a third eye. The entitlement and attitude of the employees at this pharmacy is really bad but when they play with our very expensive medicines and let them go to waste is a criminal act. It is robbery, neglect and totally unacceptable. Also, they stopped picking up the phone and now if you want to reach them you need to go to the store every time. read more

They used to be a great pharmacy with wonderful service. In the last month they have not filled my prescription on the days that I need them and it almost killed me. For both medications where there is a shortage and common medications that are always in stock, they are always filled days after the date needed. One pharmacist will tell they are out when another says they have it. They also never pick up the phone anymore. I've dialed from multiple numbers at different times thorough out the day and have had no luck. They have also picked up and hug up. Still waiting on my life saving prescription that was supposed to be filled 2 days ago. Thankfully my doctor sent me samples otherwise I'd be in the hospital. I came here for a money order and a few other odds and ends. This is a big store. I got everything I needed and the young man in the store was very helpful. I found some smart water in sale 2 for $4 so I got a few bottles. Its in a great location in downtown Rockville town center close to the local gym which is golds gym and the regal theatre. There's plenty of chain restaurants in the town center also. An overall great area to get things done. read more

I've always wished for a CVS close to my work and it finally came true! Spacious, organized, and always fully-stocked! I loved this pharmacy when it first opened! But I think they got a new manager or cashier who is very rude. She told me to put back my item and basket from where I found it because she was going to close soon. In a previous visit she told me I couldn't use my extra bucks because I had handed it to her too late. She has very poor customer service skills. But this CVS is very clean and has a wide selection. If you can deal with rude people on a frequent basis, I recommend going here bc of their wide selection. read more

My wife and I were visiting Rockville and as a result of my wife being hospitalized, we had to stay longer than expected. I had only brought enough pills for my expected stay. My prescriptions had been filled in my hometown CVS. I explained my predicament to Kevin, the pharmacy manager in the Rockville store. He looked up my prescriptions, gave me three extra pills for each of them and wouldn't charge me for them. That's customer service to write home about! read more

The Upper Rock location has become my go to CVS because it's always tidy and there's a super friendly guy named Demetrius who always makes me feel welcomed whenever he's there. I also end up spending more when he's there because he's so helpful but I don't mind since it's so hard to find genuinely good people these days.
