I just went grocery shopping for the first time in three weeks. Trader Joe's made it swift and safe. There was a line outside, but it moved quickly. Once inside, there were no crowds, and they had everything! Milk, eggs, my favorite cookies! Lots of frozen foods to explore. I even bought elote and everything bagel spices for the first time. Now I need to cook my Argentine shrimp with their soyaki sauce. I feel normal again with a fully stocked kitchen. Checkout was easy with only one person in front of me. Keep your reusable bags at home for now. We will get through this. Thank you Trader Joe's staff for all you are doing to keep us safe and well fed.

I was heading home in a different direction, saw TJs & popped in. One of the shorter lines I've experienced with the same navigation of staggering customers to get inside while offering complimentary Hand Sanitizer. As with other locations, there's a dedicated employee disinfecting the carts & baskets. Once in, I got all my goodies & even lucked upon a new flavor of Miyoko's Vegan Cream Cheese - Sensational Scallions aka Chives. To note, there is not a wine/beer section here, only at the DC/VA locations. This store has better guidance in ushering customers to checkout. & of course, the helpful & friendly Hawaiian clad employees at one's service.

The parking lot is pretty darn small, but at around 11 AM on a Monday, there were still several spots open. So that's a winner in my book! Just like all their other locations, I was easily able to find all of my usual Trader Joe's wants and needs. The people were friendly, too!

Spacious floor plan, wide isles! This location is not as congested as other locations.

I've been shopping here for YEARS!! The best Trader Joe's in the area. I go out of my way to go here. Clean, organized, friendly. Plenty of parking! Most all crew members very personable and helpful. When they had the sampling station man, this place was great to shop at! I was spoiled with friendliness and great dinner ideas!! Kids loved it! This was NOT the case at other Trader Joe's. MOM's organic market used to be this way in College Park. They are still good but Trader Joe's beats them in customer services at this location. MoM's quality and variety is awesome but, for basics THIS LOCATION gets you in and out with a warm feeling. The diversity is employees is also great. Management excellent and it reflects in their hiring and how they service the community. They still have that human, we care about the community vibe. Food is delicious and it's usually very well stocked, with pretty good prices. This is a place where you can also get cards for $1 which is great while grocery shopping. They also have grab and go food salads and sandwiches! Novelty desserts, ethnic frozen food option, grass fed meat, unique chocolates, variety of breads and delicious baked good! Their donuts are my favorite and their dark chocolate. They have their own brand of dark chocolate that's delicious! This location handled COVID AMAZINGLY!! The best food shopping experience during a very hard time. This is a local gem! Love this place for my grocery shopping needs and a good dose of friendly!

I love this Trader Joe's not just because it's closest to my house but also because they always have what I need, at a price my stingy self can agree to, and with fresh produce and a huge selection of frozen foods. I was impressed that this Trader Joe's has several kinds of brie perfect for baked brie--French Brie for $8.99 per pound and light Brie for $6.50 per pound and regular Brie for $6.50. The staff are also super, super friendly. Several lanes were open and moving fast! My cashier today was Rebekah, who was friendly, delightful, conversational, and efficient. The credit card console was programmed to make creepy Halloween music instead of the standard beeps. Do not park in front! Go straight to the back--plenty of spots there, it's quiet but well lit, and no dealing with headaches waiting in the front parking lot for people to pull out of spots or repark or agonize over slow walkers or children treating the parking lot as a playground.

I like this location cuz the parking is always ample. The price are always lower than all other places especially for veggies and fresh fruit, there is a decent selection of frozen food and veggies a huge aisle for nuts and snacks. My favorite area is the cheese and dairy products which they have a lot of to choose. Staff are friendly and the store is well kept and very clean.. Cashiers are always nice and fast.

I've seen shoplifters just pack up their backpacks with laundry detergent and security does nothing. The outside sidewalks are dark and grimy - anyone heard of pressure spray? Downtown Silver Spring deserves better than this for people who can't afford to shop at Whole Paycheck or Mom's. I've written to Giant Corporate and store management: no one does anything.

Why install self-checkouts and then not make sure that they are operating smoothly and moving along? This is the big problem at this store for me, and it has only gotten worse over the years. The lines are often slow, long and longer. I want to emphasize that other aspects of shopping here are pretty okay, although I have had to adjust my standards several times over the years.... Produce is better than it used to be in terms of freshness and availability, and staff like shelf-stockers are generally pleasant and happy to answer questions. There is good variety/selections in most departments, but prices are higher than other stores in the area. (For example, donuts are about $1 each most other stores in the area, but Thayer sells them for almost $1.50 each.) I mean, this is a neighborhood grocery store, not a tourist spot. My last point is about Safeway in general, not this store: so many products are listed as on sale for electronic discounts only while there are also other discounts like member prices and store coupons, etc. Life is much too hectic to be coordinating list making, online tagging, and all that. I gave up. I live just a couple of blocks from this store but go to the trouble of a drive to local Giant for a less frustrating experience. I hope that management checks these reviews and makes necessary changes-- I don't want things to get worse bec of the negative reviews. Too many people cannot make the drive to another store and this needs to be neighborhood grocery store that is meets local needs.

While browsing produce, I briefly placed a bag of kale in my backpack while continuing to shop openly in plain view. An employee approached me near the seafood counter and essentially implied I might be stealing, telling me I needed to take it out of my bag because he "didn't want me to get in trouble." The interaction felt unnecessary, humiliating, and accusatory -- especially since I was not hiding merchandise or behaving suspiciously. What made it worse was that the store seemed understaffed in areas that actually affect customer service: most checkout lanes were closed, customers were forced into self-checkout, and basic assistance throughout the store was lacking. I understand stores have loss prevention concerns, but there's a respectful and professional way to handle those situations. Instead of making paying customers feel singled out, management should focus on improving customer service and staffing.

As to the store itself, it has a lot of standard things you'd expect to see, but I found some nice items on clearance. Self-checkout was available, if marginally functional, and I found a set of single-stall bathrooms to be a welcome development, but they were only available after checking out at the register.
