    Sundubu with banchan
    HK H.

This market is great! As a SoCal gal, it is so great to find authentic Korean, Latin American, and Japanese groceries in one convenient location. Stopped by the lunch counter behind the banchan and had a great quick lunch of spicy tofu soup (sundubu). If you get a chance, swing by and grab a bite. Staves off the hunger and helps ensure you don't shop too much on an empty stomach.

The coronavirus has definitely made going outside a bit weird these days but coming here during the middle of the week and middle of the day was ok. Parking wasn't too bad as there were still quite a few open spots towards the back of the lot. There was an employee at the entrance making sure we all had face masks on (not sure if they were keeping track of the number of people entering the store as well but there was signage indicating that face masks were required to enter via governor decree). People were generally cognizant of the 6 ft social distancing recommendation especially by the checkout lines where there was tape on the floor. Produce, rice and meat were decently stocked. There was signage about how they were running low on kimchi but there was still some left. Obviously the food court was closed but you can still get some take out food. Cashiers had face masks and shields on. It seemed like some people were able to push their shopping carts out to their car but we opted to pull our car up to the curb to load our groceries in the car like we've always done in the past.

Two unique fruits I love. The pink strawberries are overpriced here.

I brought my pal. She couldn't believe how cheap the produce was. I agree but some things are not. The pink strawberries (as they call them) are $7.99! At Aldi, where I went afterwards they were $4.99 ( and called pine berries). I almost bought the golden berries, but ALDI has them too. Alas, not at my location. I will have to come back for those. (I call them physalis or ground cherries).

Fairly small sized H Mart Location compared to their other stores in the area. It's a very convenient place to pick up some asian food and groceries with ample parking available. The parking lot is often busy and filled with many cars and pedestrians so just be careful and mindful when driving around. I arrived yesterday afternoon to pick up a few ingredients to make Ramen for a yelp event and of course a few snacks. Prices are fair or even pretty low so I do appreciate shopping here. The store is also taking appropriate precautions with COVID19 going on, but I noticed a lot of customers weren't necessarily staying 6 feet apart. Instead, I would prepare a list of necessities and try to shop as quickly as possible for anyone needing groceries here.

Pro: variety of food to buy, has a bakery inside, big parking space, next to other stores. Con: terrible main exit. This store is a good place to buy ingredients for any Asian food but they don't tend to have everything you might need. There is a bakery in the inside that we order a slice of red lever cake which was delicious but a bit pricey. The biggest con is the main exit because at the stop sign and if you need to turn left to get into Georgia Ave there are cars park on both side of the road that block your view of oncoming car which make it dangerous!

My family favorite. This tonkatsu soup is very flavorful

I really liked how this H-Mart carries certain hard to find Japanese items for less relative to nearby competitors. I stopped by during late Friday afternoon. The store had moderate amounts of customer traffic. It was easy to park near the entrance without having to look too hard. The store carries some of my favorite Japanese items much to my surprise. It has frozen eels for less than $11; my favorite Japanese curry roux for only $2.99; all of my favorite refrigerated noodles were available: the Sanuki udons, the yakisobas, and the fresh ramen noodles. These are amazing compared to the dry variety. I liked how this location also had the Sriracha Mayo by Kikkoman and the Bulldog sauce (Katsu sauce). The meat section had a good amount of squids and sliced pork and beef ready for shabu shabu or homemade Korean BBQ marinade. I also discovered that I can purchase the dorayakis, Orange Brand Swiss Roll Cakes, Cream Puffs, and Eclairs here. Best of all, all items were more inexpensive than purchasing them at Maruichi or Great Wall. Lastly, the checkout experience was fast and efficient. Despite moderate amount of customer traffic, there was no line and no wait time. In sum, I can understand why some of my Japanese friends prefer this store more. I am excited to come back again in the future.

    I wasn't that curious.

In comparison to the H Mart I visited in Woodbridge I am forced to reevaluate my feelings toward this one. I like being able to find items that I can't find in other places. That was what I loved originally. Those things were snacks. As far as fruits and vegetables, I feel like Great Wall has a slightly better selection and better quality. A lot of this could be due to the size of this H Mart. It is on the smaller side, which of course means that they have to stock what sells. I understand but I'm also confused. There's an abundance of Central American mercados en Wheaton so I wish that more shelf space was devoted to more goods from the Asian diaspora. I will continue to shop at H Mart. The location is closer for me and I know what they have but my heart does reside elsewhere right now.

Update review - we finally checked out the food court here. It's tucked away next to the refrigerated drinks section. Don't let the strangeness of having a food court inside a grocery store fool you, the food is well worth it. Their prices are very reasonable and are served in quality bowls. Their tofu soups are delicious and comes with tons of side dishes. If you are hungry, definitely check out the grocery store. Plus, the staff here are very nice. You can also order some of the pre-packaged side dishes in front of the counter.

Overall, I had a decent experience at this Lidl...considering the circumstances…read more I visited this Lidl a few hours before the big snow storm of Jan 2026 was expected to hit. Having seen pictures of other local grocery stores with bare shelves, I was not expecting much from the Lidl. To be frank, I visited to pick up some dishwasher pods and some winter storm snacks. To my shock, I was quite surprised to see that the grocery store still had plenty of staples (e.g., milk, eggs, veggies, bottled water, beef, etc.). I thought the store was pretty easy to navigate, and I did not have much difficulty finding what I need. Although the general layout of the store was "easy", I thought the shelves were a bit disorganized. However, I think the disorganization might have been due to folks picking over products prior to the storm. So, I can cut the store some slack in that aspect. Regarding pricing, I thought the prices (especially for the generic products) were significantly lower that other grocery stores in the area. Even the reusable bags were cheap. Normally the big reusable bags are like a couple of bucks at other popular stores in the area; however, they were 89 cents at this location. Although the grocery store shares a parking lot with a gym, I thought there was plenty of free parking. Since this grocery store is super close to another business that I frequent in the area, I have a feeling that Lidl might become my go-to grocery store.

I had one of the most disturbing and upsetting shopping experiences of my life at this Lidl…read morelocation. It was around 8:45 PM and the checkout line was long. I politely asked a female employee if another register could be opened. She ignored me completely and walked away. Two other employees were kind enough to call a manager, and shortly after another register was opened. Unfortunately, the same woman who ignored me was the one assigned to check me out. She looked visibly angry and irritated. During the interaction, she suddenly became verbally abusive and called me a "bitch," then escalated to calling me a "white bitch" and told me to "get the f*** out of her store." This was said loudly and aggressively in front of other customers. I was shocked, humiliated, and genuinely felt unsafe. No customer should ever be spoken to this way -- especially by a retail employee. The manager, Augustina, did take the situation seriously and even asked another customer if they heard the name-calling, which they confirmed. While I appreciate the manager stepping in, the emotional damage was already done. I left shaken and will not be returning to this store. There are cameras at the registers and this incident should absolutely be reviewed by Lidl corporate. This behavior is unacceptable and should not happen to any customer.

There is a parking garage underneath the store and you either take an elevator or a steep escalator up to the ground level. There is what I guess is a security device at the entrance and exits to the store. It's much brighter and bigger than most of the Safeways I've been to. We entered near the deli section. There were a number of prepared meals that looked really good, a full service deli and already packaged selections. The bakery had plenty of desserts and sweets but it didn't seem like there were a lot of breads. Maybe I just missed something. We browsed through the meat department and went up and down the aisles. The floral department didn't have as large of a selection as a nearby store but what they did have looked fresh. We didn't really need much and had little interaction with employees. We did ask a lady in the produce section for the code to the rest room and she unlocked it for us. We were intrigued with the bargain book bin and selected a few novels and a cookbook. Near the self checkout I couldn't resist a very cute dish towel. I'm not crazy about garage parking and am very familiar with my go-to grocery store so I doubt this will be my regular store, but it may be nice for a change once in a while.

The store is small and the aisles are crammed together. I was carrying a basket and not using a shopping cart. It would have felt more challenging navigating a cart in smaller aisles.
