Overall, I had a decent experience at this Lidl...considering the circumstances. I visited this Lidl a few hours before the big snow storm of Jan 2026 was expected to hit. Having seen pictures of other local grocery stores with bare shelves, I was not expecting much from the Lidl. To be frank, I visited to pick up some dishwasher pods and some winter storm snacks. To my shock, I was quite surprised to see that the grocery store still had plenty of staples (e.g., milk, eggs, veggies, bottled water, beef, etc.). I thought the store was pretty easy to navigate, and I did not have much difficulty finding what I need. Although the general layout of the store was "easy", I thought the shelves were a bit disorganized. However, I think the disorganization might have been due to folks picking over products prior to the storm. So, I can cut the store some slack in that aspect. Regarding pricing, I thought the prices (especially for the generic products) were significantly lower that other grocery stores in the area. Even the reusable bags were cheap. Normally the big reusable bags are like a couple of bucks at other popular stores in the area; however, they were 89 cents at this location. Although the grocery store shares a parking lot with a gym, I thought there was plenty of free parking. Since this grocery store is super close to another business that I frequent in the area, I have a feeling that Lidl might become my go-to grocery store. read more

I had one of the most disturbing and upsetting shopping experiences of my life at this Lidl location. It was around 8:45 PM and the checkout line was long. I politely asked a female employee if another register could be opened. She ignored me completely and walked away. Two other employees were kind enough to call a manager, and shortly after another register was opened. Unfortunately, the same woman who ignored me was the one assigned to check me out. She looked visibly angry and irritated. During the interaction, she suddenly became verbally abusive and called me a "bitch," then escalated to calling me a "white bitch" and told me to "get the f*** out of her store." This was said loudly and aggressively in front of other customers. I was shocked, humiliated, and genuinely felt unsafe. No customer should ever be spoken to this way -- especially by a retail employee. The manager, Augustina, did take the situation seriously and even asked another customer if they heard the name-calling, which they confirmed. While I appreciate the manager stepping in, the emotional damage was already done. I left shaken and will not be returning to this store. There are cameras at the registers and this incident should absolutely be reviewed by Lidl corporate. This behavior is unacceptable and should not happen to any customer. read more

It took me a while, but I finally made it to the original Lidl in Montgomery county. I was in Wheaton and I figured I'd go the extra 2 miles to come here and check it out since I was in need of milk. Lidl and Aldi always have the cheapest prices for milk. First off, the bakery section was pretty bare for a Tuesday. They did not have the chocolate twists that I like so much. No worries, I have pastries at home. I couldn't find the steelhead trout or the scallops that were on sale. I guess I will just have shrimp and veggie gyozas for dinner. They were just $3.99 for a two person serving. OK, but not as good as Trader Joe's version. What totally made me elated were these chocolate covered oat & wheat biscuits. They look just like Hob Nobs, and guess what? They taste just like the real thing! There are 9-two packs in the package and they are just $2.49! I'm glad I bought two packs, but I will be back for more!! I pray they have them at the Takoma Park store, which is a tad more convenient for me. I also bought their German version of the Merci chocolates. Dark for my mom, and milk for me. I guess you can tell I'm chocolate obsessed. read more

While visiting my daughter in Maryland, we stumbled upon Lidl. It seems very similar to Aldi. I was especially amazed and pleased with their European array of holiday products: jellies, chocolates, gingerbread houses, cookies.... I could go on and on. Their prices were extremely reasonable. This is probably one of my least favorite Lidl locations out there. It's too bad because it's hell of a lot closer than having to drive way out to the one in Fairfax or College Park. But I really can't stand how often things are out of stock and how unhelpful and unfriendly the workers are. Last night, I swung by to get some Half and half but it had none. Water by the gallon was also more expensive than Target. I will just stick with the Fairfax location even if it means I'll be driving 45 minutes from home. read more

So fresh, so good, so deliciously unhealthy, so abundant--I can't wait to go back! Come early to get the freshest batches of baked goods, although LIDL is committed to constantly baking all day, so any time would be suitable for their bakery. Their prices are incredible on things like bakery goods, produce, spices, and dry goods. The checkout lines are not intuitive and jumble together, and it's unclear who is in which line. There appears to have been some odd localized looting at the Lidl at Glenmont (/sarcasm). There were spilled pallets in numerous isles, and massive sections of empty shelves. The first Lidl I went to in the US was last week in Columbia, MD. It was clean, well stocked, and overall a lovely place to shop. I was excited because I knew there was another Lidl near my house (this Glenmont one). The store not only resembled a war zone, it seemed to lack any useful leadership. There were only two check out lines open with at least 15 people in each line. After what felt like an eternity, a guy who appeared to be in charge (holding a clipboard will give you that impression) showed up and wondered why only two lines were open so he opened one himself...and then had another opened. Where had he been for the past fifteen+ minutes? The stuff that was available seemed good but the place lacks any talented leadership. It's probably time for HQ to come back and retrain or remove the management of this store. Maybe they could have the Columbia manager come over for a couple of weeks and right the ship? read more

I was so happy to see this new grocery store pop up in my neighborhood! First impressions: it's clean, has a great selection of commonly used AND unique items and the prices are almost too good to be true. Since it's new, the lines have been a bit of a drag, but I am looking forward to when the novelty wears off and less people start going. I also downloaded the app and love the rewards like "$10 off of $30 on next purchase". The prices are already great, but combined with all the deals it's even better! My favorite things at Lidl are the fresh baked goods, large selection of dairy products (I love that they have fresh cheese curds) and the unique frozen food selection. Okay, so...let's start off with Lidl's fruits and vegetables. Yes, they're less expensive than the major chain grocery stores. There's some "howevers" though. The first, you have to be very, very careful looking over the produce because the quality has become hit or miss. And, when it's a miss, it's a big one with the bagged veggies, like potatoes and onions. They're often moldy or spoiled...go with the loose produce. They do have great prices on both name brand and store brand items. The bakery is excellent, btw. Checkout...stinks. Never enough open registers and lines can get long. You have to bring your own bags (that's okay) but also pack/load them which gets kinda chaotic with large orders because the next order is coming down the belt as your desperately try to bag yours. read more

Tried to get garlic bread to go with my soaghetti cashier said snd i repeat "its not coming up in our system" didnt offer a solution or anything but when i asked to speak to a manager all of a sudden he says he offered me that . Inwouldnt be going back and forth with anyone if ibhad the price of the garlic bread but Paris as he has let his self be known very aggressively(check photos and see his mannerism towards a black woman) as well as the security guard who harassed me and followed me as i grabbed my bread . This used to be a bigger grocery store, but when Lidl opened, it now seems very narrow and small. Today was their first day and the store was packed with customers and employees still stocking shelves (which should've been done earlier, not an hour after opening on their first day). This made the already narrow aisles seem more narrow. Each aisle seemed to have a column which made navigating around difficult. Only one side of it could fit the shopping cart. The items they have in stock also didn't make sense... I looked for ground chicken, but they only had turkey (3 shelves full). No box tissues, only pocket tissues. read more

I love Lidl. I was going to the one in College Park but now this brand-new store that took over the space vacated by Shoppers (went bankrupt) is amazingly close to home! Love Lidl's fresh bakery products, flowers, and its section dedicated to international foods that rotates every three or four weeks. Since Lidl is an an international company, they bring many products that meet high-quality European standards. The also have Grass-fed beef products at much lower prices than Whole Foods or Safeway. Their produce is also very fresh and lower in price. Who cares if they don't have the branded products! In my experience, the Lidl-branded products are always superior to whatever is the branded counterparts! read more

Tbh, this is the worst location, I've been to. Its sad that this location isnt that old and it has gone downhill. The parking lot says alot, poorly managed. A lot of items are out of stock due to the global supply blah blah, that shouldnt be an excuse for the store to look the way it does. Employees are ok, one rude male employee with the fake color eye contacts, who isnt any type of manager is rude. However, pay him no mind. You could find some good deals. The bakery department seems to be good only when they are fully stocked in the early morning. I dont recommend buying any plants or flowers, as they tend to wilt or die faster than if you would buy it at WF or Costco. They try to get you fast. I just hope that they can bring this store back to when they had their grand opening. read more

A friend of mine told me about this store few years ago, but I've never had a chance to stop by until recently. It is located in the shopping center where the shoppers food warehouse grocery store used to be at the intersection of Randolph Rd and Georgia Ave. The store was very well organized except many shelves were empty, which seems to be the norm nowadays. I think the prices were reasonable and their produce section had a lot to choose from. The bakery had a nice selection, however I don't eat sweets and I try to stay away from carbs, so most likely I will not be buying anything there. I will definitely go back, because it was a cool experience. They provide something different from other grocery stores which I like. I also liked their plants selection. read more

My visits here have been hit or miss but today was an epic fail. The bakery hardly had anything & I arrived before 6pm - I foolishly lackadaisically did my shopping picking up mire than intended & went back to check again. I come out of my way to come here b/c the fresh baked bread & pretzels are THAT good - the same quality as when I lived in Europe. I spoke to a manager and he was polite & apologized the bakery has evidently now stopped baking at 5pm. The epic fail was the checkout person - the customer before me was trying to say the least - very challenged & lacking in common sense - I don't know how many similar customers she'd had but that one put her over the edge. The smart thing to have done would've been to change lines but ... I apologized b/c I needed a price check & she was rattled. My order was quick & efficient aside from the price check but there wasn't an ounce of goodwill or customer service left in her. A simple grumpy thank you would've sufficed. We decided to visit Lidl after having trouble finding fresh produce and meat at the grocery store where we usually shop. We were so impressed with Lidl. The crowds from the opening days when we first went there were gone and so were the long check-out lines. The store was fully stocked with plenty of fruits, vegetables and salad ingredients. And there was a huge selection of beef, chicken and turkey products. The seafood selection was amazing, though most of it was frozen. The prices were cheaper than the larger grocery chains, and were similar to Aldi. But compared to Aldi they had a much larger selection of items and a lot of name brands; Rao's, Stouffers, Butterball to name a few. I didn't think the "special" aisle was as nice as Aldi's but that's pretty minor. Since this Lidl is close to our home and an easy drive, we will be going back again definitely. read more

We loved the Lidl in College Park so we decided to give this closer Lidl a try. I think we are going back to the College Park Lidl. We went on Sunday. About half of the bakery trays were empty. We also went to the cookie / snack section, in addition to be smaller than College Park's Lidl, the shelf were about 30% empty. The selection is not close as good as the one in CP. It seems that they are still stocking, with boxes everywhere. On top of that, we were told by one of the employee to wear masks so I went outside to grab them, on the way back in, I see the poster on the door indicated masks are recommended (not required). I also seen multiple people unmasked in the store, so why did the employee told us masks are required? It left a bad taste in my mouth (pun intended). But no worries, I won't coming back to this one. If you can, go to the CP Lidl or wait until the one in Montgomery Village opens up. read more

The store is a real asset to the neighborhood and part of town. I need them to open one in the Rockville Pike area, it would do great business. I think this store is getting better at stocking sale items and restocking overnight. Keep it up. Staff should be trained to be courteous. Waits at the registers can be long, go at an off time. By the weekend they are out of many sale items. Lidl needs to REPLACE the defective old refrigerators (and sometimes freezers) that leak water all over the floor, it's unhygienic, gross, and a hazard. This has been going on for years. P.S. There are often very good plant deals in the hallway outside the main doors, but do you have shrinkage? Cameras? I always come inside and pay, but I hope you are not losing money there. read more

Now that we've moved to a slightly different neighborhood. This Lidl is our closest grocery store. So I've gotten to visit at a couple times now. I do appreciate the pretty decent prices on produce, especially berries!. You can also find some good cheeses! Lots of essentials and then some unexpected things and housewares and such. Recently I moved for the second time since August of 2021. I moved from Cincinnati to Silver Silver MD with my grandchildren and my daughter & son-in-law. Now I am living in a different part of Silver Spring less than a mile away from this store. I had been an occasional shopper until this current move. This has become a frequent stop for me to pick up most items that we run short on at home. Otherwise I go to the closet Target. The prices here are compatible to Aldi and the produce is of a high quality. The dairy & prepackaged meat sections have the basics and then some with prices as good as and sometimes better than Target. There's also a very good selection of bagged snacks. My daughter and grandchildren really like the organic sea salt popcorn. This is also were I take care of my craving for dark chocolate bars. I've looked for Oreos here & was very happy to find they have their own brand of double stuffed Oreos. Recently I was over charged for 2 cartons of ice cream that were on sale. The cookies & cream flavor was good but the chocolate chip cookie dough didn't have very many chocolate chips or pieces of cookie dough. On the positive side I was given a quick and full refund. Not sure how the health department has not closed this place down.I was happy to see a grocery store was going to be near me since there are no others near Glenmont area HOWEVER This is the worst Lidl location I have ever visited. Opening week they had a $10 off special which was nice and their selection was a tad better that week..after that everything went downhill. This store is filthy with most their produce rotting on shelves, fruit flies/gnats everywhere. Most items especially on sale are never stocked (I will try different hours of the day with no luck) empty shelves everywhere - I was so happy to find spelt flour pasta here and bought the whole shelf out opening week and that item never made it back in store after-this is the case with a lot of items I find I buy them and think that I can continue coming here to purchase them and they are never there again meaning it was a one time thing. A big complaint I have about this store is that they barely have any organic items -smallest selection. I was hoping to find organic canned coconut milk today (I mean what grocery store doesn't have that) I left disappointed not only at the fact they didn't have it but at the condition of the store. First off the parking lot is filled with lots of trash everywhere on the ground. Their grocery carts are so large they barely fit through the stores front door and are never cleaned/disinfected by employees. There are no shopping baskets when your going in for a couple items as I've noticed many do--which only leaves these huge carts crowding the space in the store and people getting frustrated with each other trying to get by when aisles are blocked off by others or by employees unloading boxes- today the employee blocked off the entire produce section as she had not one but two huge carts carrying boxes and boxes of items for unloading. She was throwing the empty boxes on the only space left for the customer to come by -I needed to go to that section so I patiently waited and when she saw me and made no effort to move for people to get through I said excuse me I need to get by and she rolled her eyes at me and looked annoyed. Also during my visit today I saw in the sales paper they had Fall Mums for 3.99 or 4/$12 they looked beautiful in the sales paper and when I got there I will post pictures of what I found-they were all dead...trash but they were being displayed anyways. I checked out their pumpkins for Halloween and only found crushed open& rotting pumpkins with tons of gnats and flies coming out of them..and a MOUSE - yes a mouse right in the cardboard box.I went to at least pick up some eggs and only found three cartons left and more than half the eggs inside were cracked open -the insides of the eggs were dripping off the display shelves. The last couple of times I visited the store there has been lots of water leaking all over the store from the refrigerators.. instead of properly cleaning this up with towels or shop vacuum employees throw entire rolls of paper towels on the ground next to the wetness and do not do anything else except throw them there. What a waste of trees I counted over 30 rolls on the floor and this happens on the daily as I counted as well last time I was there with the same issue. Their bakery is always out of stock on pretty much everything or they have old stuff laying around-they seem to always be understaffed. There is one cashier and worker here who is the nicest and goes out of his way to make sure you're helped other than that everyone else is hating their jobs-and being rude to customers. I wish I took more pictures but I only thought of it during my last couple of minutes. They had 6 registers in the store with only one open today-I counted 25 people waiting in that one Isle reaching the back of the store and there was a hold-up at the front because someone's item did not ring up the correct sale price so they were waiting for a manager with 25 people waiting in line. We waited there for about 20 minutes before it started slowly moving-during that time to employees walked by - pretending to look busy but not doing much -&speaking of A customers item not ringing up the correct sale price that has happened to me probably 9 out of the 10 times I've been here-Costed me another half hour for a manager to come and instead of them just honoring the price doing the research taking me back to the aisle determining that I was correct not knowing why it wasn't ringing up the correct price in register, going to the back they couldn't find the correct item number for sale item so they couldn't give it to me at the sale price after 30 min of waiting. If it's only a dollar difference why don't you just give me the dollar or subtract it from total and try to not upset the customer so they can return. I can go on&on about this place I really do not see how it stays in business..I guess because the people in the surrounding area really have no choice with no other grocery store in the area. read more

I get that some stuff isn't going to be there during a supply chain crunch and you're bound to be disappointed. But with so much less stuff to manage, a store should be able to get certain things right. Like shelf tags matching the products directly under or above them. (I'm not talking about a stray can or two misplaced by a customer, I'm talking whole cartons of cans/boxes mis-tagged.) Or no price tag anywhere. Badly dented cans and crushed boxed products. Produce that is literally rotting and moldy. This I saw just walking up and down the aisles at full speed--how do employees and management miss it? Or more likely don't miss it and just don't care. Breaking news, Lidl: people won't buy this stuff. Just get rid of it. Other Lidl stores are equally impacted by supply chain issues, but are properly handling the inventory they do have. I just don't get it. The parking lot is a mess. Stray carts, cart corrals overflowing while zero carts are available as you enter the store. And it's on a slope, so the chance of having your car hit by an abandoned runaway cart can't be ignored. I chose this location as the drive to the equidistant (and far superior) Montgomery Village location would have been much longer given a major accident on 270. Never again. read more

Started shopping here when the store opened and was pleased. Had to stop and return to Giant for my weekly shopping due to the lack of grocery carts. I think there are now only about 10-12 carts total. You must arrive early to get one. I have never seen a grocery store that does not provide carts . However it is fun to watch people walking around trying to balance 25-30 items in their arms. read more

Love!!! I traveled here from Rockville with high expectations.... I wasn't disappointed. I found several great deals on organic ground beef and chicken thighs, blocks of sharp cheddar cheese, fresh Mozzarella and shredded Colby. I wanted to stock up on our pantry goods too, found no salt canned veggies for .50 each and $4 bags of coffee. I'll be back if they don't open the one in Montgomery Village first. read more

I went to Lidl yesterday for the first time. I thought it was a good experience. I got there at 8 AM. The store was pretty empty. Shelves were stocked. I typically shop at Costco and Aldi but I thought the Lidl prices were better. My only complaint was that there are places where there's not enough room to get those huge shopping carts through the aisle; rather between the aisle and whatever is stacked in the middle of the aisle. read more

I would normally give 5 stars but latel it's been slow lazy service the cashiers are hanging over the counter and or registers , no smiles barely speak , never greeted customers are having to gather there own carts and or get them from the parking lot because there is no one to continuously replenish the carts to the front of the store I waited almost 15 minutes one time just for a cart I spoke to the manager and told him and or ask him if he could get someone to go retrieve the carts from the parking lot and he act like I was bothering him 30 minutes later someone was sent out to retrieve carts ! I shop here at least once per week. I love the products, when they are in stock. I love how not one employee knows where any thing is located in the store. I love how inconsiderate and rude the Asst. Manager is when you need a shopping cart. I am so sorry that I called it a grocery basket. I just loved how he corrected me, then left, never to return. I really am in love with standing in line for 15 minutes while the asst. mgr is correcting the incorrect price for a customer refund, which could have been prevented if the price was correct on the shelf or the product was placed in front of the correct price. I really love the Wheaton store, because the College Park store where I live is worse. The security guard is very customer service oriented and nice. Go figure? read more

Very disappointed in this place. Its a tiny store to start, yet they devote about 3 aisles to crap like flip-flops and games for kids. They should use this space to increase their very limited selection of food. V8 is apparently too exotic to carry. I have been twice, on a Saturday morning and 6pm on a Thursday night-both times there were only 2 cashiers working (they have 6 registers) and the lines were halfway down the aisles. Dont try to pop in on your way home from work, you'll be in there 25 minutes minimum. Even the parking lot was a hot mess, no one had collected the carts all day, so they were blocking half of one lane. Guess I will stick with SFW. I would do one star but I can imagine how important this place is to people without cars who live nearby. read more

Duh, anyways she then also she would try to give it to the outdoor they didn't eat it either so she new something was up and wanted to return it. That process went smoothly. The worst customer service I have ever experienced at a grocery store. It's like they just don't care. They blame everything on their systems, not working and offer no solutions. The sign will give one sale price and the register will not ring that up and they will tell you sorry it's not coming up with that price. They are way understaffed with no one to ask questions to around the store & only two registers open with lines wrapping around the store. Today I came here to get some blueberries - only blueberries that's it. 45 minutes later, I left the store with no blueberries. I grabbed the blueberries which had a sale price of $2.69.. I waited 20 minutes in line for 1 item to get to a cashier, who obviously hated his job. He rang them up for double the price, and I told him they were on sale. He tried to tell me they were not on sale because they were the organic ones.. I told him he was that they definitely were ..He said sorry can't help you. I went over to the grocery section to take a picture of the sale price since the customer service in the store is nonexistent. When I came back with it, he said yeah that sale ended yesterday.. I told him that's not my problem they forgot to take the sale signs down and it's being advertised as that. Again, he tells me he can't help me so I asked for a manager which happened to be at the register right behind him. I was hoping the manager would care to take care of the small issue /adjust price. after I waited now going on half an hour. He then proceeded to make matters worse, putting more energy into arguing with me, then solving the problem. I told him I was in a hurry, and I just wanna buy the blueberries at the sale price that's advertised... he goes on trying to explain to me that the other cashier would have lost his job if he tried to alter the price and why he didn't do it and why he couldn't do it. Again, I told him I don't need to know all that I just want to purchase the blueberries in front of me. He started getting smart with me, and continued to tell me that the other cashier couldn't do it because he didn't have the authority but he does and I said great since you have the authority just ring up the blueberries. He spent more time trying to be defensive then Assess the problem and find a solution. Is it worth losing a customer who shops at your store all the time over $2.69!? Apparently to Lidl, it is. If I was the manager of the store and a customer waited in line for half an hour and then the cashier lied to them and then they had to go take a picture and prove they were right about the sale and then the cashier blames register and says he can't honor price and then tries to send me on my way.. at this point if I couldn't get my system to ring up the blueberries, I would give them to the customer for their time and for the inconvenience. Manager only defended the cashier and made excuses, and instead of just ringing up the blueberries kept me there for an additional 10 minutes We are talking 40 minutes total and I left the store with no blueberries because he said sorry my cashier won't allow me to take your EBT card. I wouldn't even be writing this review if he tried to help me in a caring, respectful way, but he was rude, inconsiderate and could care less. The manager goes on to say I'm getting an attitude with him. When I was not, I was just repeating the same thing over and over." I just want to purchase these blueberries at the given sale price" I just can't believe the experience I just had. I wish I had recorded it. I've rarely been in a store so poorly run. Not that the staff is the problem; most of the ones I've encountered have been kind and helpful. But there clearly aren't enough of them, and the store policies are not helping. The lines are always long, and registers are sometimes closed without warning, leaving the people who've been waiting in line to have to go start over in another long line. The sale items often aren't available, esp the weekend specials. I've gone early, to find they haven't come yet, and gone later, to find they're sold out. They cannot keep up with the sanitizing supplies. The bakery is often out of exactly what I'm looking for, and the wrong things are in the marked bins or the bins aren't marked. Milk is often expiring in a day or two. And some of the clerks have been very nice, but some don't say a word to you and seem unhappy to be there. What I do get there tends to be cheaper than I can find it elsewhere. But with the frequent empty shelves and the long lines, it's not often worth the trip. I don't recommend it unless you live close and bring a book to read in line! read more
