While visiting my daughter in Maryland, we stumbled upon Lidl. It seems very similar to Aldi. I was especially amazed and pleased with their European array of holiday products: jellies, chocolates, gingerbread houses, cookies.... I could go on and on. Their prices were extremely reasonable. There can be lines at the register but that probably why their prices are low.

This is probably one of my least favorite Lidl locations out there. It's too bad because it's hell of a lot closer than having to drive way out to the one in Fairfax or College Park. But I really can't stand how often things are out of stock and how unhelpful and unfriendly the workers are. Last night, I swung by to get some Half and half but it had none. Water by the gallon was also more expensive than Target. I will just stick with the Fairfax location even if it means I'll be driving 45 minutes from home.

Great store but busy since the demise of the Shoppers Food Warehouse that was orginally in its retail space. The bakery selection at LIDL is phenomenal. So fresh, so good, so deliciously unhealthy, so abundant--I can't wait to go back! Come early to get the freshest batches of baked goods, although LIDL is committed to constantly baking all day, so any time would be suitable for their bakery. Their prices are incredible on things like bakery goods, produce, spices, and dry goods. The checkout lines are not intuitive and jumble together, and it's unclear who is in which line. The store is clean and neat and items are logically organized and free of messes and clutter. It's enjoyable to shop here! Get the app to get a $5 off $30 coupon.

Be prepared to wait. Lines sometimes extend halfway through the store. That said, Lidl does have essentials at a good price

Tried to get garlic bread to go with my soaghetti cashier said snd i repeat "its not coming up in our system" didnt offer a solution or anything but when i asked to speak to a manager all of a sudden he says he offered me that . Inwouldnt be going back and forth with anyone if ibhad the price of the garlic bread but Paris as he has let his self be known very aggressively(check photos and see his mannerism towards a black woman) as well as the security guard who harassed me and followed me as i grabbed my bread . I believe they both shall have some type if punishment because this situation went way further then it had to go .

    New Lidl Store.

I love Lidl. I was going to the one in College Park but now this brand-new store that took over the space vacated by Shoppers (went bankrupt) is amazingly close to home! Love Lidl's fresh bakery products, flowers, and its section dedicated to international foods that rotates every three or four weeks. Since Lidl is an an international company, they bring many products that meet high-quality European standards. The also have Grass-fed beef products at much lower prices than Whole Foods or Safeway. Their produce is also very fresh and lower in price. Who cares if they don't have the branded products! In my experience, the Lidl-branded products are always superior to whatever is the branded counterparts!

A friend of mine told me about this store few years ago, but I've never had a chance to stop by until recently. It is located in the shopping center where the shoppers food warehouse grocery store used to be at the intersection of Randolph Rd and Georgia Ave. The store was very well organized except many shelves were empty, which seems to be the norm nowadays. I think the prices were reasonable and their produce section had a lot to choose from. The bakery had a nice selection, however I don't eat sweets and I try to stay away from carbs, so most likely I will not be buying anything there. I will definitely go back, because it was a cool experience. They provide something different from other grocery stores which I like. I also liked their plants selection.

Skip the jelly filled donuts. Pretty tasteless. Not much flavor in the dough. Croissants are crusty and flavorful as are the custard tarts.

There is a parking garage underneath the store and you either take an elevator or a steep escalator up to the ground level. There is what I guess is a security device at the entrance and exits to the store. It's much brighter and bigger than most of the Safeways I've been to. We entered near the deli section. There were a number of prepared meals that looked really good, a full service deli and already packaged selections. The bakery had plenty of desserts and sweets but it didn't seem like there were a lot of breads. Maybe I just missed something. We browsed through the meat department and went up and down the aisles. The floral department didn't have as large of a selection as a nearby store but what they did have looked fresh. We didn't really need much and had little interaction with employees. We did ask a lady in the produce section for the code to the rest room and she unlocked it for us. We were intrigued with the bargain book bin and selected a few novels and a cookbook. Near the self checkout I couldn't resist a very cute dish towel. I'm not crazy about garage parking and am very familiar with my go-to grocery store so I doubt this will be my regular store, but it may be nice for a change once in a while.

The store is small and the aisles are crammed together. I was carrying a basket and not using a shopping cart. It would have felt more challenging navigating a cart in smaller aisles. I like the personal interaction with a cashier. So many stores are encouraging customers to use the self check out. I had a few issues ringing up items. The employee was nice when helping me. Watch out for other drivers when getting back on Georgia Ave.
