First time here today and I got it pretty good. I saw some reviews here that was complaining about the service, but maybe they finally decided to step it up...well a small notch at least They have a pick 2 special where you pick a soup, salad, or sandwich for $6.49. If you happen to pick signature items though, it goes up to 7 something and 8 something, so take your pick. I got the Signature Italian sandwich...whatever the full name of it was with the cream of chicken and wild rice soup. The soup wasn't as hot as what I had hoped for and it was just barely lukewarm, they could work on that. The sandwich was actually really good. I couldn't stop eating it. As for the service problem that people have been complaining about, from what I saw today it was pretty damn good. Only problem is that it still does move slow and the lines go outside, kinda ridiculous. They had 3 people working on cashiers, so it's not like I'm complaining about not enough there, but they should do the line a little better so not everyone has to stand outside if they want something. PROBLEM: Since the place gets pretty packed, you see groups of 3 and 4 cramming into a 2 person table, pretty sad. Okay, this is where I am EXTREMELY conflicted about how good the service was. I can say they probably have a good mindset but WOW, either they are not trained or something is wrong with them. So a server comes up to a family and offers to clean the table next to them (they just left) so they could move over. They were being lazy and said it was okay and that they didn't want to move. Visited this week and it was filthy. 60% of tables were covered with dirty dishes and food like this and the entire carpeted area was covered with food and trash. The tea dispensers were dirty and left open and had no lids. The mob of employees that were "working" we're all huddled in the corner talking and not one attempted to clean up. I was going to write a bad review due to the fact that my order was missing my Mothers lunch and we did not discover this until we got all the way home. I was disappointed and upset due to the fact that my Mother had not eaten since breakfast. We had a doctor and were stopping to get something to eat in our way home. Once I got home I called and spoke wit the Manager Devon. She was so apologetic. She asked me to please come back and she would make it right. It was just too far to drive back. She asked me to please stop in whenever I was close for she did not want this experience to stop me from visiting her store. The meal we did receive was wonderful. The chicken Avocado sandwich was divine and my Mother enjoyed it along with the bag of chips. The following week I went back and saw Devon. She was so kind and apologetic. This place has unfortunately been up and down for me. The concept is really great. A bakery like atmosphere with lots of newly created desserts, breads, and other complimentary items on sale, and you're able to order soups and sandwiches that go along with their delicious bread to have a great filling meal. The problem I have with this place is that it is not consistent at all. A meal that is great one day might be terrible the next. One example would be them halfheartedly toasting a sandwich meant to be toasted. Fresh fruit one day, rotten apple the next. Fresh flaking bread one day, stale and hard as a rock the next. Service is up and down, cleanliness is up and down, everything is just random. And I'm tired of spending my money here just to find out what I'll get. And it is tempting to try again, because when it has its ups, it's really delicious! It's a little expensive too, upwards of $10+ for the expected soup and sandwich. Panera has always been one of my favorite spots. Between soups, sandwichs and salads, there's a good variety to choose from. Their food is always so fresh and I like the feel of the restaurant inbetween a sit-down and fastfood. Their "Pick 2" option is one of their best choices, but on my most recent visit, I have a simple craving for soup. I ordered their Broccoli Cheddar bowl ($5.71), which has a creamy base with bits of broccoli. It also comes with a side of chips, bread or apple. Oh my Gosh. This Panera Bread is absolutely amazing! Yes, they do take a bit sometimes. However, they are understaffed like everyone is and I salute to those people working there that are working very hard and doing amazing! Devon is one of the best! She is able to handle any situation amazingly! Their food is absolutely amazing, their drinks, and even their service. I cannot believe how welcomed I feel when walking into the store and when they take your order they gave me suggestions, and were helpful in letting me know if something has dairy in it or if it is something I cannot eat. I have been to this location several times, never any problems, average service, but today was different. After I placed my order, I was informed by the manager that they were out of the main ingredients or my sandwich. He was very apologetic and kind :) He was helpful and patient with me while I made another choice, he even suggested a few items. I didn't have to wait too long for my food, it tastes great and the manager came to check on me couple of times, asking how everything was, I was very pleased with the service and food. I wish I had asked the manager his name because he was very kind and professional! Had a ham sandwich and a soup here and all I can remember is I loved it. Bread was really fresh and so were the ingredients. You can really taste how fresh the lettuce is when you hear the crunch. My roommates and I started on the Panera app but it would not accept our cards. For context, we have used the app multiple times for different locations. We tried the website and then some of our order was unavailable through the website that worked fine on the app. We then decided to come to the store and order take out. We had to wait at least forty minutes while we waited for two orders ahead of us. The kitchen could not handle a big order and we saw them turn people away two hours before closing. However, one employee put together our second order of bread without making us wait after getting the first order. Except they had zero cookies and that was most of our second order. I ordered the Tomato Basil Mozzarella Hot Panini on Chibatta bread that came with a complimentary bag of potato chips to go (you have a choice of chips, an apple, or some bread). Yum!! When you bite into it, the outside crust gives you the right amount of crunch, while the inside is holds warm soft bread. OMG!! to die for! Panera Bread is the most amazing place to eat! I love all the fresh salads! I always get their Cesar salad and pesto pasta! The new pick 2 menu is perfect for those who can't choose between their food. This Panera that is located at the riverside plaza is always busy but they are fast. Horrible service! Waited for 40 minutes for a dozen bagels because the cashier didn't process my order! I didn't get a receipt and I patiently waited. There were at least 4 or 5 tables full of people's food and plates left sitting outside, so in turn the birds were in full force trying to get at them!! They just added a "Plant Based" option on their menu which holds all the vegetarian options (!!) It's nice not to have to look at every food item and read the ingredients so I appreciate that! Food recommendation: Mediterranean Veggie Sandwich! The single best sandwich I've ever had and it's healthy. Mac & Cheese: Creamy and delicious Candy Cookie: It has the texture of a cake. and it has little m&m like candies. It's my all time favorite cookie and I refuse to share it. Panera bread is good. The sandwiches, soups and bagels are tasty and that wont change. But this location in riverside has one major flaw, the staff. I notice that I wait forever in line during lunch and on occasion I have waited being the only person in line. They are constantly running out of stuff, like not having bagels or quiche at 9am on a saturday morning, having NO coffee on the coffee bar, or running out of key ingredients. I ordered one chocolate chip cookie for dessert to go with the larger order of salad and sandwiches. The cookie was so stale and crunchy that I didn't even want to finish it.
