We have been here a few times since my last review, and the place continues to satisfy. On the latest occasion I enjoyed a Patty Melt on Rye prepared medium rare as requested, with French Fries. Small onion cubes added to the classic diner-food effect, and the Rye Bread used, with rye aplenty, was outstanding. The Fries, smeared in ketchup, were tasty, too. And Diane once again liked her Meat Lovers Skillet with crispy Hashbrowns. The only problem we encountered was that as we arrived I could see a waitress looking out the window with an "Oh no!" look on her face as she saw me parking our car in front of the diner. It was 8:40 p.m. on a Sunday night, and the restaurant closes at 9. Sure enough, I was told that all soups and salads--even Chili--had already been put away, and were unavailable to order. This is not what I expect to encounter when I arrive at a restaurant over 15 minutes before closing time. Our server, Sara G., who had been the person I saw looking out the window with a sorrowful expression, explained that the night had been exceptionally slow, and no further diners had been expected. Fortunately for me and Diane, the taste of the food we ordered made up for my disappointment at not having a full menu to draw from, including the wonderful Albondigas Soup made here, and Chili. So it was still at least a four-star experience in any event. And a mixture of piped in music soothed our spirits as we ate. read more

I've given this place many chances as it's a routine Sunday breakfast spot for my family. Service was always slow but we dealt with it. Last time we went, we waited at the podium, got seated quickly, sat for 15 mins, no server to come get drink orders. Two sets of tables came in after us, were seated, got drinks, and their food, still before anyone even came to take our drink order. When I got up and left and told them we didn't have a bill because no one came to our table yet, they suddenly wanted to provide service. This has been a common thing that occurs every time I went. Before it was just slow to where you'd have empty drinks for majority of the meal, now they won't even come to the table at all. Do better. read more

Finding a good restaurant in a new city can sometimes be frustrating, especially when you're hungry and it's getting later in the evening. We had a couple places turn us away because they were closing within that hour, but fortunately we came across Brandon's Diner, and hostess Marisol was more than happy to accommodate us. Their comfy and cozy space had all the good smells of a good diner, and server Alfredo helped us settle into our booth, and made some good food suggestions. They have an extensive dinner menu, as well as nightly specials. We decided on a couple of their Mexican Dinners (served all day), and I dove in to the Fish Taco Friday special. The menu could be changed, so it's not deceiving. I ordered a roast beef sandwich, and the menu shows it comes with mashed potatoes and gravy. On the side of the page, there's a section which says all sandwiches come with one of the items listed below, but doesn't list mashed potatoes and gravy as an option. I assumed, as would most people, the items listed are a complimentary side dish. Below the list, it stated fried zucchini could be substituted for one of these items for an additional dollar, so I elected to do so. When it came time for the bill, I was charged an extra nine dollars, instead of one, and when I asked about it, I was told the mashed potatoes ARE the side dish, and the section on the page didn't apply. Even when I said I felt deceived, and threatened to never return because of it, they still charged me the full amount. I have never felt so infuriated in a restaurant before, and I actually cussed out the staff as I left. read more
