Speedy service, fresh food and friendly staff. Pick 2 option is where you can get the most bang for your buck. There are a lot of options for different diet types. But whatever you do you must get you the Passion Papaya Iced Green Tea. Its so delicious. You can get it in a bottle or one of the bubble cups. Fresh pastries and baked goods. Terrible service as always. I had to personally ask for my food, and I even saw it sitting open faced on the line. The cheese became hard and the food was cold. Add the fact that all of the tables are covered in crumbs and other food scrap I would never consider coming back. The only saving grace was the employee hunter. Maybe I'm just too nice or I have a high threshold for patients. Panera is a chain restaurant that price to sell on Whole Foods but a lot of this food is premade even though they advertise otherwise. I just don't think that this location deserves to be the worst Panera in central Pennsylvania. Anytime I've gone they've always treated me with kindness and gone out of their way to make sure all of my desires were being met. I've only been here twice, once in the morning for a bagel sandwich and coffee and another for dinner (half a sandwich). The staff at the counter are generally very friendly and chatty if no one is in line behind you. I wasn't super impressed with my Frontega chicken Panini I had recently. The chicken seemed a little slimy and the sandwich seemed "uneven." I took off one slice of bread and it looked like the ingredients were just thrown on there. Onions on one side, a chunk of melted mozzarella almost in a ball on the other side, etc. It was a mess. It tasted ok, but I had to fix it myself. Unfortunately this was my last trip to a Panera. The portions no longer justify the price for us and the employees no longer seem to care about how the food is made. Stopped by last night for a quick bite to eat, ordered a you pick 2 with the chicken fontega panini and garden salad with chicken and a tea, husband ordered mac and cheese with a southwest salad and a soda. Ordered via the kiosks and sat down. Waited about 15 minutes for our order (in a mostly empty restaurant) buzzer went off and husband went to retrieve our food. While his was ok, my sandwich was burned and looked more like the end of a chard loaf of bread than a sandwich. Had about a teaspoon of chicken, melted blob of cheese and 2 slices of tomato, missing the basil. Salad was alright but seemed small. A disgruntled employee was sitting behind us complaining to someone on speaker phone about having to work late and not getting enough shifts on the weekends. Went to top off my tea only to see they had taken the tea machines down for the night. (they were full when we arrived and it was only 8pm. They close at 9:30) Needless to say after tonight I'll be making my own sandwiches at home and save some money. read more

20 minutes after picking up my order, I sat down to discover that the greens in my Fuji Apple salad were wilted, slimy, and old. Furthermore, my red side Apple was still green inside when I bit it. A little annoyed with this location. For the amount of money you're paying, you have a few expectations like getting what you ordered. My husband orders a roasted turkey BLT with avocado and I ordered a pick two with the same sandwich and a cheese and broccoli soup. On his sandwich they didn't put any bacon. On mine, no avocado. Yes this is minor but there are only a few ingredients on the sandwich. They also ran out of soup bowls so they gave me their to go cup which seems smaller than the regular bowl. Today, my co-workers and I called in an order for Pick Up. The order was ready in a timely manner according to our request of Rapid Pick up as scheduled for 12:08. Upon arrival I was greeted in a pleasant manner. The order was accurate except for 1 small item missing. Realizing this, I called the manager at the Jonestown Road location. Bobby listened to my concern, and he offered to refund the entire order as a compensation for the error. To me, this is an excellent example of service, and ultimately demonstrates doing what is right for the customer. Bobby and his staff went above and beyond to make things right. Always have really good food! Haven't really had any experiences with them getting any of my orders wrong. Their drive-through is usually a little backed up and slow. You need a fresh breakfast option on the go? These guys have you covered. Everything works like it is supposed to and the food is fresh, reliable and good. I like me some Starbucks breakfast but those sandwiches are all pre-made in some sandwich factory and then shipped to the store. Panera bakes the bread and cooks up the sandwich. And the stuff is tasty. Drive thru works like a charm as does the to-go ordering inside the store. Kiosk-based ordering is a bit soul-less, but you get what you want and see all the potential options and modifications to each sandwich. read more

This location needs to update their hours of operation . Driving to this site and finding that they are closed at 4pm most days is very frustrating. Also be very diligent about checking your orders. We had a rapid pickup ordered the night before for an early morning 610 pickup, we showed up at 620 and not only did they not have it ready but they completely forgot half our drinks. This is simply unacceptable as we were already running behind and could not stay any extra time to check our order, especially given that the order was already late. Oh Panera. This location is closer to home for me but I feel its consistently lacking in some aspect each time I go. Normally the good thing about a chain is consistency but this location is just not that great. I love the order ahead option on the app and I use the frequently because I am often here over a short lunch break while I am working. The last time I came in here I came back with a chicken panini that had no chicken? WHAT? I called and they offered to get me something for free next time. I kind of forgot that today when I went to get my grilled cheese sandwich with tomatoes and bacon. $8 later I got what I had hoped to be deliciousness but it was charred bread (literally tasted like char...), good cheese, awful tomatoes that I couldn't even take bites out of without the skin literally stuck between my teeth and the cheese and not breaking down, and really really bad practically raw bacon. First time here for breakfast... they really did nothing special to make me return... this store is clean, and the staff is friendly and well groomed. I had what was described as a maple bacon glazed cheese wrap... surprise! There is an egg in there...the content was in the center of a surprisingly tough wrap... gooey but edible... I was amazed to see "Fresca" on the drink menu... it's not the grapefruit soda from the 60's.. but the term for teas and lemonades.... the blood orange lemonade has a off putting flavor. Not as Advertised: fresh ingredients with no artificial flavors, etc. My husband and I shared a grilled cheese, bacon and tomato sandwich with negligible cheese, dried up bacon and sundried tomatoes? (Thought they would be fresh.) We ended up pulling out the bacon to eat. The chicken and wild rice soup and the tomato soup were passable. The frozen strawberry lemonade tasted artificial and had a funny taste. There is little pride in this place: dirty table, cashier was bland and slow, etc. I had a gift certificate so that was less painful, but we certainly won't be back. read more

I have been at this location twice this month. The first time was a week ago to pick up one bagel. No problem and it was pre-lunch around 11:00 am so I was in and out in a few minutes. Today, I made the HUGE mistake of arriving at 12:00 to get my bagel. BIG MISTAKE! Here's why. One of the employees encouraged people to try out their new kiosk ordering system. If I had given this much thought, I would have passed on the idea. Instead, I got out of line to order my bagel, thinking this might be cool to try. I was now put into a queue to wait for my order at the pickup counter. Now I was #7 for pickup, whereas previously #3 in line. As the minutes passed, I quickly realized I would have been gone much sooner if I had stayed in line. I did politely offer feedback to the lady employee (who apologized for the wait) and also to a manager so they would be aware for future customers in my situation. The place was crazy busy and seemed chaotic while there. When it was time for pickup, there was some kind of sauce running down the bag. The one redeeming feature was the complimentary cookie for using the kiosk system. Note: I'm not typically an impatient person and am careful not to exhibit rude behavior as I realize restaurant workers have a tough job. Moral of the story: if you have a simple bakery order, stay in line or use the drive through lane. The kiosk system is nice for sandwiches, etc., but DON'T use it for small orders! I was so excited when Panera came to our area, but this particular location needs help. I have been there now quite a few times since they have been opened ordering bagels both in person and on-line. More times than not, I have had issues. On multiple occasions I was shorted bagels and I have simply had it with the way they slice their bagels. (see picture I posted). If you cannot slice a bagel properly, then do not offer the service. This last time I had EIGHT out of the 12 bagels ruined because they were sliced like this on in the picture. I am not sure if they bake bagels all day long, but the two times I purchased bagels at dinner time, they were obviously sitting out all day (a bit stale) and the selection was limited. So I am guessing they do not bake bagels all day long - which seems odd since that's one of your main items. On the plus side, the couple of sandwiches we had gotten were very good. read more

For the record, we have no slurp shops in Harrisburg, so I was really hoping this would help fill the gap. Sorry to say this is not Panera's forte. But, my friend asked me to take her there (she couldn't drive at the time) and I said of course I would.. and I was absolutely incorrect in my uninformed opinion of Panera. They have a much, much larger and wider selection of food choices than I'd ever considered! Now, when the store is busier, the customer service becomes much more impersonal and each order seems to have no order, regarding whom ordered first or how long they've been waiting. And to be totally honest, although there have been many pleasant experiences, for me, there.. I do take into account that most of the employees are high school aged and don't know what it is to be a good customer service representative, but they need to be taught. Anyway, overall I'd give Panera a slightly above average rating. read more

The manager, a lady was talking to her co- worker about potty and potty training while I ate without my cell phone near the window by the entrance. Today I go again. My sandwich is burnt black in the bottom. I peel of the burnt part and eat as I am hungry. Take the burnt part to the manager who wants to give me a cookie. I tell I don't want anything. Just let your employees know they should be careful. As I am walking out, I see him going away from the main area into the back. I hope he addresses it with the cooks later. read more

I did a mobile order for this location and it was done fairly quick. Although when I got there to pick it up I had picked up the bag and it was leaking from the bottom. Furthermore before I left I sat the bag down and realized that both of my teriyaki bowls were throw in the bag and were leaking. I used to really enjoy eating here but the quality of the food and the service is terrible! I tried the 4-cheese Grilled Cheese sandwich when it first came out and it was pathetic - literally looked like they took store-bought shredded cheese, sprinkled a little bit on one side of the bread, slapped the 2 pieces together and threw it in a toaster. I never complained because I guess I should've expected that for a $7 sandwich at Panera (pretty sad to say this when I could get a hearty meat sandwich from Subway, Sandwich Man or Mother's Subs in Harrisburg for the same price). I work about 20 min away from this location so I tried the delivery service and each time it took about 2 hrs for the food to get to me! They claim it takes about 50 minutes normally and sent me coupons and included a free coffee cake slice. I've since learned and now place my online order around 10:30 am so I can specify delivery for noon -- this works great as I get my delivery on time. BUT, today I ordered a Whole Ancient Grain, Arugula & Chicken salad online. THERE WAS NO CHICKEN WAS ON THE SALAD and the arugula tasted so SOUR! With every screw up, they offer to send a coupon so you'll keep coming back. The store manager apologized for their growing pains. If I said that to one of my clients, they'd laugh at me and then take their money elsewhere. I'm officially done with Panera!!!!!!! read more

I eat food from this Panera bread location fairly frequently. Although occasionally an order here or there might have a slight mix up or missing item, a majority of the time the food is right and is enjoyable. Since the onset of the pandemic, I've utilized curbside pickup many times and usually don't wait very long. I have never utilized the drive through so I cannot provide feedback for that. Lunch service is fine, but breakfast is ABYSMALLY slow. I sat in the drive thru to wait for a smoothie for 20 minutes with 2 cars in front of me, and when I finally pulled up to the window to get my drink, no one opened the window for over 5 minutes and I could see them just starting to make my smoothie after another employee pointed at me and then at the computer screen. The car in front of me only ordered a bag of bagels (I saw their order on the screen) and they also sat at the window waiting for 10 minutes. I don't know if they are understaffed or inadequate, but this happens frequently for breakfast and I will not be giving them another chance. Rule to Self: I won't leave a negative review until a place has "3 strikes" for me. Unfortunately, Jonestown Rd Panera has just that! I would say nine out of 10 trips to Panera bread resulted in me not receiving all of the food I ordered and paid for. It's not like I'm ordering a bunch of specialty items or extras; I'm simply ordering the regular menu items, and, often times, the chicken is forgotten on my salad, there are no drinks in the bag, or no $0.99 pastry. I also think that you never get your money's worth with Panera Bread if you order To-Go. I am not sure why, but the portion sizes seem so much larger when you dine-in at the restaurant. This was definitely the case today (see attached photo). Apparently, a half-salad is no longer the portion served in the half-size salad box. . .nope!! It's now HALF of the half-size salad box so expect a QUARTER salad when you order the half-salad for a You Pick 2 combo!!! ‍ I gave two stars instead of one because the drive through stuff is usually quick, prompt, and very friendly. this is only for their breakfast sandwiches. got an egg and bacon bagel sammy and swear they must have tripped and lost some of the bacon when making my sammy. there was ONE tiny piece of bacon broke in half on the darn thing. the other sandwich was a steak and egg and same thing, hardly any meat and some weird cheese (asiago maybe).. the bagels were decent but not worth the price. mcdonalds is much better. read more
