Puerto Rican cuisine includes, in addition to the homemade pizza sauce and dough, subs, cheesesteaks, etc., which are already known to the community. I attended a fun game night and had the opportunity to experience a Spanish entree and dessert. The relatively new owners, Jose and his fiancée Desiree, welcomed our group for a fun night of childhood games. Desiree shared the long history of Linglestown Village Pizza as a community fixture that longtime patrons know and love. If you live in the Linglestown area, you must dine at Linglestown Village Pizza, not just for pizza, but for delicious, freshly made Spanish food and dessert. If you enjoy a sweet treat, try one of Son, JP's Creamery's 8 flavors of Spanish ice cream; you won't be disappointed in the service, Spanish food, or Spanish ice cream.

Don't be fooled by the sign - inside there is a menu for Jose's Lil San Juan, offering Puerto Rican cuisine! During our group game night they set up a buffet of Yellow Rice and Bean, Grilled Chicken, and Picnic Pork. The Yellow Rice and Bean was perfectly cooked, fluffy and fragrant - oh I love cilantro! Both proteins were tasty, though the pork was a bit tough. The garlic dressing was a must add - it's so good. I used it for my entire dish. I also tried the coconut flavor of their Spanish ice cream (Limber). It's more like an ice pop than the traditional ice cream. My wife had the Oreo flavor which I sampled. Both were very satisfying! The restaurant is located right next to the Linglestown circle, so please be careful with traffic. There is a small parking lot across the street and a bigger lot behind the restaurant block.

That was the best spot to get some food to recharge, so I decided to take a walk down memory lane and get an Italian sub when I got off of work. The staff was inviting, and the place still looked and smelled the same as it did when I was a kid. There was plenty of meat on the sub with all the fixings, and of course, I complemented it with plain Middleswarth chips. Being from Pennsylvania, you have to eat it with Middleswarth chips! My mouth was drooling looking at the sub, even though the roll itself felt very hard. With the first bite, I went right down memory lane, sitting in my grandfather's green Ford Ranger. I scarfed it down, but well... I was disappointed. The bread was so hard that it almost scratched the roof of my mouth. The cheese was just bland, not bursting with flavor, and the salami and pepperoni slices had no flavoring to them at all. I think the only thing that saved it was the hot peppers that I added. To make matters worse, I also noticed the bathrooms were dirty, which is never a good sign. I also felt very slow and sluggish afterward. I don't think food is supposed to do that; food is supposed to give you energy, not slow you down. I do not recommend this place for a sub at all. I'd rather get one from a pizza shop or even Sheetz--and I think all Sheetz food tastes like cardboard, but that's just me. I hope my review helps you decide where to get your sub next!

When I realized I'd be just minutes away late Friday afternoon on one of the nicest days of the year so far, it felt like the perfect time to finally give it a shot. Friday afternoon, 74°, end of a long work week...this absolutely screamed "patio dinner," and Greystone delivered on that front! I arrived around 4:45pm and asked for patio seating, and was seated at a great table in full sun. The vibe was exactly what I was hoping for -- calm, quiet, and a really beautiful setting. When I got there, the patio was about one-third full, but by the time I left around 5:30pm, it had nearly emptied out. That said, I could definitely see this being a go-to spot when the weather is nice, so reservations are probably a smart move if you're aiming for patio seating. For my meal, I went with the shrimp salad wrap with a Caesar salad and a Diet soda. On paper, it sounded like a solid, light dinner option. In reality...it didn't quite hit for me. The shrimp salad was very mayo-heavy with minimal seasoning, and it was loaded with large chunks of celery (like...a lot of celery). The menu also indicated the wrap would include tomato but it didn't. The shrimp were left whole, which made it tough to eat as a wrap -- I ended up just picking out and eating the shrimp and leaving most of the wrap behind...along with what felt like an entire stalk of celery. Not exactly what I had in mind. Service also missed the mark a bit. My server checked in shortly after the food was delivered, but then disappeared for quite a while. I finished eating and waited about 20 minutes for my check, with both my Diet soda and water empty and no refill in sight before she eventually came back. My total came to $24.30 before tip, which put the experience right around $30 for one person, one cold wrap, one side salad and a Diet soda -- and for that price point, I was expecting something a little more elevated, both in food and service. Greystone definitely has the look of an upscale, country club-style dining experience. The space is beautiful, especially the patio, and the overall atmosphere is appealing. But right now, it feels like the execution isn't quite matching the vision. The food lacked that "oh my god this is GOOD" factor, and the service didn't support the price point. Also worth noting -- a few small maintenance details stood out, like a broken toilet paper dispenser laying in pieces in the women's restroom and loose floor tiles near the bar that shift when you step on them. Not dealbreakers, but noticeable in a space aiming for a more polished experience. Overall, Greystone is a great spot for the vibes -- especially on a sunny day -- but the food and service didn't quite live up to expectations for me. I'd come back for the patio, but I'd probably manage expectations (and maybe try something different on the menu next time).
