Most chinese restaurants here (and in general across America) do the fake, la choy version they think Americans want to eat. News flash: general tso isn't a real person or even a thing. If you want legit chinese food and are willing to be adventurous, this place delivers. Service is also excellent. Don't let the strip mall location fool you. BEST CHINESE FOOD around! We ordered the Mapo Tofu (our favorite dish!), Beef Lo Mein, kung pao chicken with fried rice & wonton soup (lunch special), and a scallion pancake (all pictured). We also ordered vegetable dumplings, dumplings in chili oil, and soup dumplings which are not pictured. The service was very good despite a slight language barrier. Our order was correct, our waitress did her best to explain some of the ingredients, our food came out quickly, and our waters were refilled. The amount of food we ordered was plenty for a group of four. The portions are generous and the prices reasonable. The restaurant was clean and well lit with a steady arrival of customers but we didn't have to wait for seating at lunch time on a Friday. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area in the mood for delicious Chinese food and flavors. We will be back again. read more

I was a weekly regular. I drive 30 mins to support this gem of a restaurant. Each month I went, I noticed small changes here and there. Shrinkflation right? After three consecutive strikes in a row, I decided to give these guys a break. I Even went as far as going to the Lancaster location in hopes of a better experience. (Lancaster is not as good in my opinion) I need to drop a star because the last 3 times I came here the service was very bad. 1 of the times it wasn't even busy. People who came well after my party of 4 was seated, already had their tea, and dishes served before we were even offered water. It was my daughter's birthday lunch too, which soured the whole experience. Another time, my order was messed up and I was told that I made the mistake (even though I ordered that item nearly every week since the place opened). Dishes are hit or miss with translation. It depends on the server. There is one lady that has a huge language barrier. When it's busy, she is very careless, I believe she is part of the ownership. I do understand how overwhelming it is when they are busy, hence only 1star is being removed. I don't want to be upset over a small business owners attempt to keep everything orderly while there was clear chaos and under staffing. Overall I am only dropping it one star because their food is still filling a vast need for authentic style Chinese in our area and there are no competitors. The food has still been a good experience depending on who's in the kitchen and what day it is. I will return once the weather is warmer (I hate the seating set up because if you are by the entrance, you freeze each time the door opens) I will see if service improves. read more

As someone who is quite particular about my Chinese food preferences, I can confidently say that the twice cooked pork dish here is by far my favorite version that I've ever tried. The flavors were rich and the oiliness of the dishes were not too overpowering. Not only that, but the food came out fast and the staff were very friendly. I've been wanting to try this place and decided to get a few things as takeout recently. I ordered sori grills, but got eggrolls instead. They were good, but I was hoping for the fresh, cool crispness of a good spring roll. We also got pork dumplings that were amazing! The beef with broccoli was excellent and the beef was tender. The sesame chicken was a miss. I ordered that for the kids, but it was tough and lacked flavor. The chicken lo mein was very good. I'll definitely go for in-person dining. Extreamly good food. The service was very friendly and tried very hard to understand. I used Google translate to clear up my wanting an additional white rice to put in the soup. Our waitress had purple highlights in her hair and she was amazing. The ambiance reminded me of several authentic locations I have been to. We were placed at the staff table due to it being crowded. This place was great. We ordered a half duck (which wasn't on the menu), Chinese broccoli in oyster sauce, and two small white rices. The duck comes with an amazing soup, that really tasted like duck but not overpoweringly so. It accompanied the duck pancakes beautifully. At the time of this writing, Yi Pin had been open for a week and a half. Others have noted other related locations in Philly and Lancaster. Legit Sichuan food is hard to find. (Even though what we ordered isn't especially Sichuan.) Next time we'll try one of the pepper dishes or the garlic ribs. With a generous tip it came out to $70. Seemed like great quality. read more

Went here for lunch after stumbling across this restaurant on social media. I was so excited to see some authentic Chinese food in the Harrisburg area. After spending years traveling to Maryland every time I had a craving. The food was amazing. The service was excellent and it's one of the cleanest places I've ever been. The bbq bow buns , dumplings in chili sauce, shrimp and chive dumplings, salt and pepper fish and eggplant were all on point with restaurant hours away. We will definitely be back. I was super excited to see a different Chinese food option open in the area. Each of our dishes was unique, flavorful, and delicious. We called our order in and it was ready in 25 mins. Spicy beef dry pot and tofu and fish filet in spicy sauce were stand outs. Great portions, quick service, fair prices. We will certainly be returning. The food is different but good. I went in to place an order after work. I got the menu and the server told me to sit and take my time. She then brought me a glass of ice water without me asking. I love that they have authentic, regional food. I dropped a star because they are not always consistent. I always get the home style tofu but sometimes it's perfect, sometimes it's too oily and sometimes the taste is completely off. I like the Dan Dan noodles (with and without pork). Dropped another star because service needs improvement especially when it's busy- the staff seem to be overwhelmed and it comes out as confused, rude and unhelpful. read more

Was very impressed by this place. Had been looking for good Chinese food in our area and finally found it. They have an extensive menu with some unique options. We started out with pork dumplings which rocked. Then I had the Kung pao chicken and my husband had the chicken and broccoli. Both were outstanding! They give you complementary salted peanuts before dinner and a jelly soup after dinner. I wasn't sure about the jelly soup, so I passed but my husband thought it was ok. Staff were very attentive too. It's small inside but with comfortable leather couch seating. I would highly recommend this place and hope that they do well in our area. Give them a try! read more
