This place used to be Hong Kong Buffet until about 2 years ago when Jade Buffet took over. It wasn't until recently did I know about its existence when Ho Wah closed and people on social media were discussing the alternative for Chinese food. The ambience was awful. The old buffet stalls were still there with empty boxes in the back. The good news is they offer authentic dishes according to their menu. There is one page on the menu that lists authentic dishes from 3 different regions in China: Northeastern, Sichuan, Cantonese, plus a selection for special noodle soups.   What threw me off immediately besides the ambience was their menu pricing. It's understandable that prices have gone up faster than they can print due to inflation. But what about the single copy of menu they taped on top of the ordering counter? Can't they simply scribble the corrections on it?!  Now they finally did have some newly printed menus but they wouldn't give out that version unless you specifically ask. See my photo showing them side-by-side. You can see there're many updates.  Unfortunately, even the newer version had the wrong price for the dish I ordered. I ordered Z8 - Chinese Twice-Cooked Pork. All versions of the menu said $13.75, but the owner lady said it's now $15.99. OK.  The order took 20 minutes to prepare.  The serving size was small considering the price. It's the smaller 6" round takeout box. This dish's supposed to stir-fry with leeks, but cabbage and green pepper were used instead. There goes the authenticity.  Granted, the taste for the double-cooked pork belly was on point.  So overall a bit of a disappointment but I'm not writing it off as yet. Was gonna eat here but after walking in a seeing the pace I looked up the health inspection report and YIKES!!!! One of the worst ive ever seen. Given the state of the place and the info on the health inspection report we walked away. read more

Food earns this place a four star but the service would take it down at least one. If you are patient, you will be rewarded with some decent eats. This is one of the only places in the area that actually has a few more authentic dishes than most cheap and cheesy Chinese fast food places. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Americanized Chinese dishes... they have their place in our culinary journey. On the back of the menu where the header is Chinese characters, skulks the dishes that I encourage you to try. We had the Beef in Hot Chili Sauce and The Story of Cross Bridge Rice Noodle. Both were great. The Beef had a great spicy broth-like sauce which I poured on rice but would be equally (or maybe better) good on noodles. The noodle soup was clean tasting and a good portion. We also had the Taiwanese Basil Chicken, General Tso's Bean Curd, Beef Ho Fun, and crab Rangoon. Decent Americanized grub and the basil chicken, despite looking like normal stir fry, had a very good flavor. Beef Ho Fun was a solid choice. Very worth the try, bring your patience. Our Christmas Day looked a little different this year,so our Fam opted for Chinese food. We had a hankering for Peking duck. Hard to come by these days and did I mention it's Christmas Day? We were thrilled to see Jade Cafe's menu could satisfy our cravings AND actually offers dine-in, which is unheard of with most of our local Chinese restaurants going to take out only ‍. Knowing great Peking duck takes time, we called in our order early. We arrived and were very pleased at the cleanliness and service despite being severely short staffed. Our food was served hot and made to order. We enjoyed the pork egg rolls and were blown away with the flavor profile of their pork lo-mein! Their Gen.Tso's chicken tasted fresh! For our eagerly awaited Peking duck, it was deliciously prepared and succulent!While the taste was truly phenomenal, we were looking forward to sharing "the full experience" w/ our kids, but All we received were the pancakes. Slightly disappointing, but again,Christmas day, so we were just happy and grateful to enjoy this glorious meal!! We ordered a full duck which was sliced prior to serving along w/ the bones, so be aware of that if you order it. We will definitely be back when on the west shore, as we all felt this not your average run of the mill Chinese food, but was THE BEST Chinese Cuisine around!! So disappointed in their scallion pancakes! Had us waiting for 45 minutes after our scheduled pick up time! They were so substandard and greasy! We ended up having to throw them in the trash, they were that bad! Forget going back for a refund! We hade decided to cut our losses and to take our business somewhere else! I used their online order to put my order in for me to pick up. The order went through on my end because I got a 4-digit code texted to me to prove I put the order in. I got a time the order would be ready for pick up and a price. Their website would not let me put the order through until I added a tip. When I got to the restraint they never received my order. So I gave the lady my order and sat and waited for it to be made. However, even with adding the tip online I still paid more to put my order in at the restaurant than the online order. I have not tasted the food yet but just because of the poor service I won't be back. read more

Very authentic Chinese food with a wide variety of selections . Each dish has its own distinct taste of sauce . We were very happy with everything we ordered . My favorites here is their Szechuan tofu , eggplant in garlic sauce and steamed perch in ginger & scallion. Their Peking duck is served more like a roast duck, skin is not separated from the meat and it is served with pancakes not buns but still good . Hot and sour soup is excellent, next time I'd like to try their fish maw & crab soup . Most people order take out but we prefer to eat our food straight out of the kitchen so we put up with slow service . However if you come before 6, you will get served right away. Ambience is like any Chinese restaurant in small towns but the food makes up for it . read more

If I could put zero stars I would. terrible service. Drove all the way home for them to not add all my food in the bag and had to drive all the way back. The shrimp eggrolls had no shrimp only cabbage. Terrible won't be back ever again read more

Today for dinner I decided to try Jades Cafe, I ordered sesame chicken combination platter it came with roast pork fried rice I substituted it for white rice, egg roll and one crab rangoon over all everything with yummy, the lady that took my order was very nice. read more

this is the 2nd time in 10 days we had dinner with another couple. We had tried many Chinese restaurants in the past 40 yrs we live her. This is a hidden gem n really authentic from steamed fish with ginger n scallion, tofu in szechuan sauce, eggplant in garlic sauce, sizzling beef n scallop n Mongolian beef with onion are superb. the chef Chao is from China n real nice. We have ordered from Jade probably about 8 times now. The food is always fresh and hot. Our orders have always been correct too. Everything is tasty. Our favorites are the Generals chicken, Hunan beef, and chicken Lo Mein. We also always get spring rolls and egg rolls which are delicious as well. The "Fish Fillet in Hot Chili Sauce" was awesome--great garlic, ginger, Szechuan peppercorn flavors. I also really enjoyed the steamed pork dumplings--they were good with the sweet sauce they came with and even better with a simple combination of vinegar and soy sauce. read more

The Chinese in this area has been lacking for years, which is why I'm so excited about this place. The food here is fantastic and the owner is so nice.
