Food earns this place a four star but the service would take it down at least one. If you are patient, you will be rewarded with some decent eats. This is one of the only places in the area that actually has a few more authentic dishes than most cheap and cheesy Chinese fast food places. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Americanized Chinese dishes... they have their place in our culinary journey. On the back of the menu where the header is Chinese characters, skulks the dishes that I encourage you to try. We had the Beef in Hot Chili Sauce and The Story of Cross Bridge Rice Noodle. Both were great. The Beef had a great spicy broth-like sauce which I poured on rice but would be equally (or maybe better) good on noodles. The noodle soup was clean tasting and a good portion. We also had the Taiwanese Basil Chicken, General Tso's Bean Curd, Beef Ho Fun, and crab Rangoon. Decent Americanized grub and the basil chicken, despite looking like normal stir fry, had a very good flavor. Beef Ho Fun was a solid choice. Very worth the try, bring your patience. It took about an hour to get my food.

Peking duck

Our Christmas Day looked a little different this year,so our Fam opted for Chinese food. We had a hankering for Peking duck. Hard to come by these days and did I mention it's Christmas Day? We were thrilled to see Jade Cafe's menu could satisfy our cravings AND actually offers dine-in, which is unheard of with most of our local Chinese restaurants going to take out only ‍. Knowing great Peking duck takes time, we called in our order early. We arrived and were very pleased at the cleanliness and service despite being severely short staffed. Our food was served hot and made to order. We enjoyed the pork egg rolls and were blown away with the flavor profile of their pork lo-mein! Their Gen.Tso's chicken tasted fresh! For our eagerly awaited Peking duck, it was deliciously prepared and succulent! While the taste was truly phenomenal, we were looking forward to sharing "the full experience" w/ our kids, but All we received were the pancakes. Slightly disappointing, but again,Christmas day, so we were just happy and grateful to enjoy this glorious meal!! We ordered a full duck which was sliced prior to serving along w/ the bones, so be aware of that if you order it. We will definitely be back when on the west shore, as we all felt this not your average run of the mill Chinese food, but was THE BEST Chinese Cuisine around!! They also offer smoothies and boba tea, which our Daughter raved about.

This is next door to the goodwill in the plaza. I ordered online and wasn't able to pay in advance. I had no idea they charged an extra 4% for cards until I got there to pick up the food (not mentioned online anywhere), PLUS an extra service fee charged and I had already tipped 10% online. There's a sign on the register about a free two liter with $30 purchase, but I was ignored when I asked about it. My food was put on a table before I paid for it and I was ignored when I tried to double check that it was my order. It was chaotic inside with so many people in a tiny space. This cost me more than delivery with delivery fee and a tip from a really good Chinese place that is ~10 miles from us each way, but it wasn't as convenient for me to pick up on my way home from work which is why we tried somewhere closer to home. Big mistake. The crab rangoons are okay in terms of the filling, but ours were burnt and very crunchy. The sweet and sour sauce was okay. I was sad they didn't have honey chicken, so I went with the bourbon chicken since that was one of my favorite foods in our previous town. 0/10 - do NOT order. I have no idea what this was, but the sauce was too thick and congealed and the chicken tasted weird. I tried to check their google pics to make sure it looked similar to the kind I ordered before, and it did, but that's not what I received. The lo mein isn't terrible, but I definitely recommend getting it without veggies. I wasn't a fan. My fiancé liked his shrimp lo mein without veggies. The worst thing was the shrimp fried rice. It smelled so fishy and rancid as soon as I opened the container... terrible. The only saving grace and thing I'd ever go back for are the boneless spare ribs. Those were incredible and the only reason for two stars instead of one.

Crispy outside and perfectly seasoned tofu. For our main dishes we had the chicken general tao & chicken in garlic sauce. The general tao was perfectly prepared and full of flavor. The chicken was crispy and so good! The chicken in garlic sauce was okay, but probably wouldn't order again because it wasn't spicy and I've had better other places. I had the black sugar boba tea (oat milk) which is by far the best boba I've ever had!! It was so flavorful and creamy. I would definitely come back for just the boba and maybe the crispy tofu!

The chef put an entire onion into the meal. There was green pepper, some measly zucchini slivers and two carrots. I tried to salvage the meal by adding the rice into the container but as the photos will reveal the sauce was thick, slimy and only an abysmal amount. I was left disappointed and still hungry. I suppose I can eat the plain rice.

Those are fine if you're grabbing a quick lunch, but for a nice evening out with your date it's nice to be served. So we were excited to hear about Chen's Asian Restaurant in Carlisle. On the Sunday night that we visited the dining room was about half full. The tables were clean and comfortable, and the waitress gladly accommodated our request for a booth. We sat and were eager to look through the expansive menu that included many Thai dishes and sushi in addition to the Chinese. After dinner our overall assessment was a solid "meh." We started with a couple cups of soup (egg drop and hot n spicy). For our main meal we ordered the orange chicken and asked them to dial down the spicy-ness. We also ordered the chicken chow mein. The egg drop soup lacked character. It had the consistency and flavor of chicken broth. The orange chicken was extremely mild; a little sweet but otherwise bordering on being flavorless. Was that my fault for asking them to dial back the spices? Possibly. If there is a next time then I'll know better. The chow mein too was surprisingly lacking in personality or flavor. One of the things we like about chow mein are the crunchy noodles, but in this case we were given a bowl of fried wonton instead - the same fried wontons we snacked on when we first sat down. The menu said the chow mein was served with crispy noodles, but we were served crispy wonton skins instead. Am I making a mountain out of a molehill? You can be the judge. As for dessert, there were a number of surprises on the menu, like cheesecake. But given our experience up to this point, we decided to pass.
