If you're looking at this, just leave now and go next door to get something from the hot bar at the grocery store!!! If you like to read the long version then carry on below... Foolishly, we were giving this place a second chance after not being "wowed" the first time; but anyone can have a bad day, right? We should've taken a pass. We learned from our previous experience to call with lots of advance notice --- the young man that took our order said "30 minutes" which we thought was perfect timing as we would arrive at that time after a long day of driving home. We were wrong. We arrived at the restaurant at the 30 minute mark and went inside --- 3 tables of people eating and 4 people waiting on take-out. The young man was quick to take our payment and then we waited.... .....and waited .....and waited..... After the 4 take-out orders ahead of us left the female proprietor asked us what we ordered (uh-oh!). Turns out she never made it and acted like it was our fault!!! "When you call?" was her response. "I make it now...." .....and we waited.... .....and waited .....and waited..... An hour after we'd called in our order we requested a discount on the meal and were told "It's Friday. No refund on Friday!" Pretty good scam that they run your credit card upon arrival so that it makes it near impossible to leave!! Took our food home and hoped we'd get over being "hangry" shortly. Hot and Sour soup was good. Egg Rolls are 99.8% cabbage. Fried Rice is anything but that --- flavor and consistency of Minute Rice. Chicken and Broccoli had no flavor and seems to be jarred sauce dumped on chicken. General Tao's Chicken was frozen breaded chicken with jarred sauce dumped on top --- similar to a frozen meal from the grocery store. Shrimp in Lobster Sauce was just nasty --- who dumps a bag of frozen peas and carrots in that sauce? Seriously?! (See photo attached). Bad food and horrible service; plus my husband felt sick the next morning. (If you think I'm just being mean then check out the rating distribution in my profile and you'll see this is legit).

Checked in on 1/26/2016. I took one of their lunch specials. When I walked up to the counter, I asked the lady which one of their dishes is the spiciest. She suggested General Tso's. I asked her to make it even spicier and asked for Chicken. The order took few minutes. They cook it after the order is placed, it's not pre-made. So either have patience, or call ahead (which I'll do next time). While I waited, several customers walked in for take-out. There were couple seated in too. The place is small, but very neat and clean. I loved the prices too. The lady who took the order was polite and had a smile. When I told her this was my first time trying them out, she pointed out other dishes in the menu for next time. Was my food spicy enough? No! It did not meet my standards, BUT, it was flavorful. I won't be shy to order it again.

The old buffet stalls were still there with empty boxes in the back. The good news is they offer authentic dishes according to their menu. There is one page on the menu that lists authentic dishes from 3 different regions in China: Northeastern, Sichuan, Cantonese, plus a selection for special noodle soups.   What threw me off immediately besides the ambience was their menu pricing. It's understandable that prices have gone up faster than they can print due to inflation. But what about the single copy of menu they taped on top of the ordering counter? Can't they simply scribble the corrections on it?!  Now they finally did have some newly printed menus but they wouldn't give out that version unless you specifically ask. See my photo showing them side-by-side. You can see there're many updates.  Unfortunately, even the newer version had the wrong price for the dish I ordered. I ordered Z8 - Chinese Twice-Cooked Pork. All versions of the menu said $13.75, but the owner lady said it's now $15.99. OK.  The order took 20 minutes to prepare.  The serving size was small considering the price. It's the smaller 6" round takeout box. This dish's supposed to stir-fry with leeks, but cabbage and green pepper were used instead. There goes the authenticity.  Granted, the taste for the double-cooked pork belly was on point.  So overall a bit of a disappointment but I'm not writing it off as yet. There are a few more dishes I wanted to try that you simply can't get anywhere in the area.

This is next door to the goodwill in the plaza. I ordered online and wasn't able to pay in advance. I had no idea they charged an extra 4% for cards until I got there to pick up the food (not mentioned online anywhere), PLUS an extra service fee charged and I had already tipped 10% online. There's a sign on the register about a free two liter with $30 purchase, but I was ignored when I asked about it. My food was put on a table before I paid for it and I was ignored when I tried to double check that it was my order. It was chaotic inside with so many people in a tiny space. This cost me more than delivery with delivery fee and a tip from a really good Chinese place that is ~10 miles from us each way, but it wasn't as convenient for me to pick up on my way home from work which is why we tried somewhere closer to home. Big mistake. The crab rangoons are okay in terms of the filling, but ours were burnt and very crunchy. The sweet and sour sauce was okay. I was sad they didn't have honey chicken, so I went with the bourbon chicken since that was one of my favorite foods in our previous town. 0/10 - do NOT order. I have no idea what this was, but the sauce was too thick and congealed and the chicken tasted weird. I tried to check their google pics to make sure it looked similar to the kind I ordered before, and it did, but that's not what I received. The lo mein isn't terrible, but I definitely recommend getting it without veggies. I wasn't a fan. My fiancé liked his shrimp lo mein without veggies. The worst thing was the shrimp fried rice. It smelled so fishy and rancid as soon as I opened the container... terrible. The only saving grace and thing I'd ever go back for are the boneless spare ribs. Those were incredible and the only reason for two stars instead of one.

The chicken was crispy and so good! The chicken in garlic sauce was okay, but probably wouldn't order again because it wasn't spicy and I've had better other places. I had the black sugar boba tea (oat milk) which is by far the best boba I've ever had!! It was so flavorful and creamy. I would definitely come back for just the boba and maybe the crispy tofu!

The chef put an entire onion into the meal. There was green pepper, some measly zucchini slivers and two carrots. Those are fine if you're grabbing a quick lunch, but for a nice evening out with your date it's nice to be served. So we were excited to hear about Chen's Asian Restaurant in Carlisle. On the Sunday night that we visited the dining room was about half full. The tables were clean and comfortable, and the waitress gladly accommodated our request for a booth. We sat and were eager to look through the expansive menu that included many Thai dishes and sushi in addition to the Chinese. After dinner our overall assessment was a solid "meh." We started with a couple cups of soup (egg drop and hot n spicy). For our main meal we ordered the orange chicken and asked them to dial down the spicy-ness. We also ordered the chicken chow mein. The egg drop soup lacked character. It had the consistency and flavor of chicken broth. The orange chicken was extremely mild; a little sweet but otherwise bordering on being flavorless. Was that my fault for asking them to dial back the spices? Possibly. If there is a next time then I'll know better. The chow mein too was surprisingly lacking in personality or flavor. One of the things we like about chow mein are the crunchy noodles, but in this case we were given a bowl of fried wonton instead - the same fried wontons we snacked on when we first sat down. The menu said the chow mein was served with crispy noodles, but we were served crispy wonton skins instead. Am I making a mountain out of a molehill? You can be the judge. As for dessert, there were a number of surprises on the menu, like cheesecake. But given our experience up to this point, we decided to pass.
