I used to live in the area but found my fav places were all closed or not open. We stumbled upon this small restaurant and were very pleased! The owner was very nice and offered very tasty food. Should have known when I went in to look at the taped up display of the menu with prices covered up I was in for a bad experience. I asked for a regular menu to look at, and at first she could not find one? When she finally located one with prices on it, she stated the prices were not correct, and started to cross some out and inflated the prices pretty extremely? Lin's Wok has some solid dishes and options that would likely appease anyone looking for a generic Chinese restaurant. There's a small dining area and they have quick service. They don't do delivery (at least not when I was there) but their pickup is fast and seamless. The food is good but a bit pricey. read more

Great tasting Chinese food. zero complaints - it's average menu - but above average quality. Service & takeout is a little slower than the average Chinese place, but there's always a bunch of kids hanging around and the order taker is usually on her phone...could be why they aren't as speedy. Foolishly, we were giving this place a second chance after not being "wowed" the first time; but anyone can have a bad day, right? We should've taken a pass. We learned from our previous experience to call with lots of advance notice --- the young man that took our order said "30 minutes" which we thought was perfect timing as we would arrive at that time after a long day of driving home. We were wrong. We arrived at the restaurant at the 30 minute mark and went inside --- 3 tables of people eating and 4 people waiting on take-out. The young man was quick to take our payment and then we waited.... .....and waited .....and waited..... After the 4 take-out orders ahead of us left the female proprietor asked us what we ordered (uh-oh!). Turns out she never made it and acted like it was our fault!!! "When you call?" was her response. "I make it now...." .....and we waited.... .....and waited .....and waited..... An hour after we'd called in our order we requested a discount on the meal and were told "It's Friday. No refund on Friday!" Pretty good scam that they run your credit card upon arrival so that it makes it near impossible to leave!! Took our food home and hoped we'd get over being "hangry" shortly. Hot and Sour soup was good. Egg Rolls are 99.8% cabbage. Fried Rice is anything but that --- flavor and consistency of Minute Rice. Chicken and Broccoli had no flavor and seems to be jarred sauce dumped on chicken. General Tao's Chicken was frozen breaded chicken with jarred sauce dumped on top --- similar to a frozen meal from the grocery store. Shrimp in Lobster Sauce was just nasty --- who dumps a bag of frozen peas and carrots in that sauce? Seriously?! (See photo attached). She then stopped me from ordering and laughed to tell me I didn't need to specify that and rudely asked me if I was done. Checked in on 1/26/2016. I took one of their lunch specials. When I walked up to the counter, I asked the lady which one of their dishes is the spiciest. She suggested General Tso's. I asked her to make it even spicier and asked for Chicken. The order took few minutes. They cook it after the order is placed, it's not pre-made. So either have patience, or call ahead (which I'll do next time). While I waited, several customers walked in for take-out. There were couple seated in too. The place is small, but very neat and clean. I loved the prices too. The lady who took the order was polite and had a smile. When I told her this was my first time trying them out, she pointed out other dishes in the menu for next time. Was my food spicy enough? No! It did not meet my standards, BUT, it was flavorful. Bad. Can't speak for the food because I never received it. After being ignored for 45 minutes while waiting for my online order - and watching several people do the same/be served the wrong orders - I left. 15 minutes after leaving, I received a call demanding to know why I left. I told the worker, who then blamed my late order on someone receiving the wrong order some time before. It was somewhat insulting being blamed for the restaurant's incompetence. I decided to patronized this restaurant over a year ago ​ because there aren't many Chinese restaurants in the area. I ordered the lunch special pepper steak with pork fried rice and was charged $9 - $10 each time and this at least a total of 5 times. Until Friday, April 21st I ordered another lunch special and the total price was $6. I went to pay via my debit card and she stated a $9 or $10 minimum. So I asked if they sell fried chicken wings and she said yes 6 pieces for $5.50. I was charged a total of 14.57 and told I owe another $2.92, the math was not mathing. It should have been $11.50 plus tax, she proceeded to ring me up and charged me another $16.86. This lady will cheat you so please use cash as she will overcharge you everytime and change her prices to suit her own business. I will never patronized this place again. So, I would say that overall, Lin's Wok is a very good Chinese restaurant...if you know what to order! The spring rolls (but not the egg rolls) are light, crispy, and amazing. Most of the main dishes are quite good, and flavor tends to be fresh and unique compared to some of the other local Chinese take-outs. Also, they have some amazing Thai dishes, though the menu is very limited in this regard. What to avoid: As I mentioned, the eggs rolls are not up to par; they are doughy and lack meat. Also, the soups are atypical compared to other Chinese restaurants in the area. Their soups have a lot of starch and very little flavor. I would definitely avoid any/all of the soups! Other than the soups and the eggrolls, I think you will have a very good experience. Also, be sure to ask for more mustard, duck, hot, soy sauce etc..., if there is not enough in the bin. My sense is that these folks have not been here so long. They put the minimum amount of condiments out for customers. However, I think this is a "cultural" issue, i.e., more like a "waste not, want not" approach. Similarly, their lack of familiarity with the region's standards for Chinese soup and egg rolls also seems to be a "cultural issue." I suspect the family is not from the same area/region as other local proprietors, but these are very friendly and accommodating folks. If you ask them to make a dish spicier, for example, they are only too happy to accommodate. If you stick to the above guidelines, I think you will be pleased. Lins has always been decent-good, i dont order a wide variety of items here but the fried rice dishes are normally pretty good and at worst just need a little extra soy sauce (totally personal preference though). I stopped in around 3:30 when they weren't busy. I ordered the general Tso's chicken, but asked if they could use the chicken that's NOT breaded and fried instead. Basically use the type of chicken they would use in the chicken and broccoli but with the general Tso's sauce. The lady flat out said "no." So I explained to her I had corrective jaw surgery 3 weeks ago and cannot chew anything for 6 weeks. I need to be able to cut it up small and swallow without chewing, and that's very hard to do with anything fried. She again said "no we can't do that" so I put the menu down and walked out. We enjoyed lunch from Lin's Wok last Saturday (they were so new they weren't in Yelp then). We got takeout when we finished grocery shopping next door. It was about 2 pm but still had several customers present. We ordered fried dumplings, shrimp egg rolls, cashew chicken, beef with vegetables and shrimp fried rice. The dumplings were a little doughy but tasty. The shrimp egg rolls were fresh and you could see the shrimp in the roll (a delight as you don't often see them in the rolls). The cashew chicken was hot and fresh. We loved the vegetables with the beef. Best yet each item was not drown in sauce as often happens with Chinese food. The shrimp fried rice was outstanding. The cost for the meal was on par with other restaurants on the area. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for Chinese food in the area! read more

They have great lunch specials -- which you can substitute out the meat for tofu if you're a vegetarian like me. I was excited to try a new Chinese takeout that is 3 minutes from my house. Sorry to say I was disappointed. Normally when I order chicken or pork with broccoli, there are a few pea pods and maybe some carrot for color. This was bland pork and broccoli only. The wonton soup was not good at all. The wontons were thick and chewy and the soup had too much soy sauce and was very salty as a result. So, the food was not good and the woman at the counter is not too pleasant. She told me that the quantity of rice that came with my meal was very small. It's like she was trying to sell me more food. Regardless, she is not very friendly , although not nasty and it was the same when she answered the phone and when dealing with other customers. For now I'll have to stick to takeout from Hong Kong Buffet which has gone down hill but better than this place. read more

We also got the Singapore mai fun which was also delicious , only suggestion would be to make it spicier. I visited Lin's for the 4th time, and ordered the Orange Chicken. The presentation was beautiful. The vegetables were all so fresh, and crisp. The flavors were all so delicate. The chicken was perfect. My 3rd trip was for the Four Seasons . It was truly fantastic. This is the BEST Chinese food I have found between Carlisle and Harrisburg. It is not a greasy spoon. Purchased a order over 40$ in the late evening at Lin's Wok and once getting meal home was displeased with one meal the beef and Chinese vegetable meal priced at $10.50. I took two bites and covered meal back up to return it to Lin's Wok tomorrow it had absolutely no flavor at all. We've eaten at Lin's Wok several times in the past and have had no problem. I am thinking there should be no issue returning this bad meal and getting a meal replacement. I returned to Lin's Wok and spoke with the female manager who informs me she remembers us purchasing these meals. She also states this particular meal even she does not like something to do with the brown sauce that is in the dish. If you know it does not taste good why have it on your menu? She then informs me that she cannot give me my money back nor can she give me another meal to make this right. She stated that she could give me $4.00 off my next meal, which is absolutely not acceptable! Needless to say Lin's Wok has lost our business. They kindly took mine anyway, since I was rushing on my lunch break and had no cash, but in this day in age restaurants and stores can't really have that expectation. Most people don't carry cash.
