Stoped coming here completely. Used to come all the time but it's just got bad. No more delivery unless you want to pay outrageous door dash prices. The reason I stopped coming was the smell that hits you as soon as you walk in. It's either OVER POWERING BLEECH or sewage. It's just nasty. The place really went down hill read more

This spot is legit. This is what I look for in a takeout spot. Iykyk Fast service, nice staff. Food was clean and flavorful. I will definitely be hitting this place on a weekly basis. read more

I ordered this Chinese food while staying near the Harrisburg airport. GrubHub took forever to deliver it but it was not the restaurants fault, the food was still warm and it was tasty so nice job guys. read more

The inside of this place stinks like sewer. Also they are very rude called 40mins before closing one persons picks up phone ready to take my order then another lady hops on the phone and say their closed then hangs up on me. With the smell and mediocre food I will not come back here. read more

Two words: just wow. Everything from New China was simply, delicious. The rice, orange chicken, egg rolls, vegetable--I can keep going. I'll definitely be coming back here again! Pro tip: get the general Tso's chicken! read more

New China Resturant - General Tso's Chicken - Chinese Near Me - Middletown, Pennsylvania

This was at least our 2nd time here, I remembered it was ok the last time, and thought we would try it again. - I wish I hadn't, now I'm in a lousy mood from crappy food, I was really looking forward to some good chinese. Our egg rolls were undercooked and mushy. All of the chicken dishes we got had an off taste. The fried rice, wasn't really fried... It was just rice, it was sticky, mushy and bland. Portions seemed a bit small. This was honestly the worst General Toes chicken I've ever had... It just tasted off, and with the bland fried rice, it just made for a lackluster meal The rangoon's were ok... And I got Szechuan beef too - and it was ok also. I feel bad leaving a bad review in this pandemic, but this was 60 bucks ... And it really wasn't very good. We won't be going back here again. read more

Well this restaurant has really improved! We ordered hot and sour soup and it was perfectly flavored plus they now have the better bigger crunchier noodles. Very pleased read more

EXTREMELY fast service. Food is delicious. Chicken and broccoli is wonderful as is the rice. Thank you !

They always get my special orders right the first time and the Chinese food is the best that I've had in Middletown. They also take COVID-19 seriously there and it shows, I love that. read more

*sighs* Ok, Ok, Ok. My search has ended! I relunctantly tried New China, located in the Giant shopping center in Middletown, right next to Blockbuster and Midtown Pizza. Boy, am I glad I did. I was about to give up on Harrisburg Chinese restaurants, but this place may just have one of the best takeout Chinese food I have tried anywhere. We got the combination dishes which run from $6.50-$7.50 and include an egg roll. Before I ordered I asked about the Hot & Spicy Beef dish, which wasn't a combo, but I wanted an egg roll, so I didn't get it. They had the beef schzeuan combination so I ended up ordering that, but she gave me the Hot & Spicy Beef combo anyway! They were fast, took less then 10 mintues to make. I was happy leaving needless to say. When i got home, wow. The portions while not huge, definitely is enough to fill you up. But what impressed me was the freshness. The vegetables were crisp. The spices were perfect. The beef was tasty, tender and there was no trace of mystery or fat. I wish I had ordered 2. Even upon opening the carton, you could tell the food was fresh and just different. I dont know what they do differently then the others but this is the only Chinese place I will patronize unless future visits disappoint. I sure hope it's this way everytime. BTW, the chicken with garlic sauce is equally impressive. AND, THEY ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS. AMAZING. My search is done! For now. read more

I would not eat here. The Harrisburg Patriot News regularly publishes the results of health/safety inspections for restaurants. I cannot recall when this restaurant has NOT failed such an inspection. Animal droppings, food temperature control and other issues are regularly detailed. Patronize at your own risk. read more

No air conditioning just a fan very uncomfortable. Staff smoke and the fan circulates tobacco smell throughout the restaurant. Staff cooked our order but did not serve us while waited at a table instead they ate their diner while ignoring us. Bathrooms dirty. But food good I would only order take out. 1 star service 4 star food read more

New China Resturant - the entrance to the new china resturant - Chinese Near Me - Middletown, Pennsylvania

I have lived in Middle town for about 2 years now. I have eaten Asian american here from 3 of the local restaurants (lin gardens and a forgetful restaurant inside of the giant food). This restaurant food quality it very good and they have never messed up my order (knock on wood). It is more expensive in price than the other two but not by much. Kudos on their rice flavoring! The dishes i recommend from them: 1. Hunan Chicken with white rice! 2. Szechauan chicken 3. dragon and the phoenix (with mixed veggies you have to ask for it to be made this way). 4. chicken and brocolli 5. egg drop soups with wonton(ask for scallions). 6. egg rolls shrimp I always order the above and have never been disappointed. read more

3/21/19 I ordered delivery chicken w broccoli, house lo mein and several other items. It had been at least a year since I had been in and gotten pickup. I remembered I liked their food and they did not disappoint. The broccoli was very fresh and the other items perfect. My son has a restaurant and he said call them it means a lot to them. Well I put it off but this is my Thank you. I am ordering again right now! read more

For what this restaurant is and the price you pay, it is a fantastic deal. The food is as close to authentic as you will get on the East Coast. The atmosphere is quite authentic except much, much cleaner. I have read several comments about the serving staff being indifferent or perhaps even rude. Well, get over it. You wanted authentic; you've got authentic. That is exactly the way they behave in China. They don't fawn over you, or smile, or act happy. You don't hear "Welcome sir, my name is Ming and I'll be your server today". Instead you hear "What you want?" Have fun with it and enjoy the expansive menu. read more

I not recommend this place. I'm by myself asking for one cheeky Wings and rice. Day refused to deliver. Day don't care you feel hungry or not. Day just interesting your Money. I not recommend. read more

5 STARS ALL THE WAY! Awesome restaurant for indoor eating or on the go. I'm usually always taking food with me but they have quite the spot in Middletown which is located in the same district as Giant. They have a mounted television that displays chinese shows which is beast mode only because you never really see chinese broadcasting where we live. STAFF IS FRIENDLY AND LOOKS LIKE A CLEAN ENVIRONMENT SO DON'T BE LOOKING THROUGH THE NEGATIVE REMARKS FOR THEY ARE JUST BAD MOUTHING FOR NO REASON OR BECAUSE THEY ARE JUST PARTY POOPERS! read more

On the surface, New China is your average Chinese takeout place. I give it 5 stars because the quality is consistently good. It's takeout, but it's *good* takeout. The service is always friendly. I live about 15 minutes away and delivery is usually quick, 30-45 minutes (up to an hour at peak times). I've never had any issues with incorrect orders. If you go in, make sure to check out the menu on the whiteboard. They have some more "authentic" Chinese dishes there. Some of them probably aren't to Western tastes, but some of them are amazing. Definitely try the dumplings in hot chili oil. read more

This restaurant is following all COVID guidlines while serving great food. As a Chinese lover, coming from NY I wanted to taste if there was any similarities and they were many. I felt like I was at home. However, the prices are little high but overall great Chinese place! read more

Extremely rude owner. Penn State students are suppose to get 10% discount, but it never is 10% (considering they are Asians they can't do math, shame). Food is good quality, and in good portion. I guess if you don't care about customer care it is a good place to get take out. read more

Out of the few Chinese food spots that deliver to Penn State students, this is the best one. Their food is bomb. They even delivered to me 10 minutes before closing once. And the delivery guy is always cool. Never actually went inside though. read more

Definitely not the best Chinese restaurant they don't have music in the restaurant it's always empty and boring the people seem nice but they can really improve there restaurant. And the food isn't that good but I would like to see them do better I think they can I would really like it if they made these improvements as for now I won't eat it sorry read more

Food is fine. Delievery service is awful: last time they were fine delivering to where I lived which was like 5 min away now they're telling me it's too far and I live even closer read more

Generic Chinese Food. Nothing to rave about but nothing to complain about if you have reasonable expectations for the price. Not very spicy even when you request it, but OK none the less. General Tso's Chicken is OK. Tofo is a bit bland. Did not see any reason for the health concern haters. read more

New China was the worst Chinese restaurant I've ever been too. I ordered general tso's chicken with fried rice and an egg roll. Instead of serving me chicken, they served me cat. Yes you heard me right. I received general tso's kitten. They also served me an egg roll with a BITE out of it. Not only that, but my delivery was 45 minutes late which is what really pissed me off. After driving to the store and nicely asking for a refund, they told me I was a liar and that I had bitten the egg roll, refused claims of serving me cat, and told me never to come back to their restaurant. 0 stars. read more

Food is decent and delivery service is usually fast. Be VERY clear when asking for delivery, they sometimes hear takeout or pickup instead.

Great Chinese take-out food. I practically lived on this stuff before I decided it would probably be in my best interests to learn how to cook for myself. I especially loved the sweet and sour chicken/pork and the hot & spicy beef. You can eat there, but it's a pretty small place. read more

Never ever will I eat at the China Wall in Middletown by Giant...after paying nearly $25 for food and waiting for it to be done...had one of the cooks come out and eat at table...I could hear him licking his lips smacking his mouth together while he ate which is so disgusting and then finally getting me and my little boys food only to take a few bites and have to listen to screaming, yelling confrontation between 4 of the workers....I get indigestion now due to surgery all the time but this made it all the worse...Who wants to pay that much for a meal and feel stressed out while eating,,,unbelievable! Was my first time eating there food and eating it in the restaurant. I went back to wash my hands and said something to the women saying how I dont know what they were saying but it turned me off so much had to walk out without eating much because my stomach was so upset...not to mention they had a door opened up near bathroom...someone sleeping in there with a bed like someone living there..place stunk when walking in and very dirty. What little food I ate was okay...Not the best...certainly made a lasting impression...first impressions mean the most not only by your food, cleanliness, atmosphere and customer service but your demeanor especially when people dine in and especially with children...AWFUL! Should be fined and shut down! read more

Thought it was ok for a bit. I ordered a couple times. I wanted to like it because I would be here for a number of years. People warned me but despite their warning I thought I would like to see for myself, but I am done. I prefer places that respect their customers. My friends are completely right. There is a reason they are where they are in a business sense. With Middletown growing and they are preferring to upset consumers rather than help when they are in the wrong says a lot. If you do not mind your order being wrong and given attitude when you politely and justifiably complain, go for it. So many other asian places near here have way better quality and customer service. Walk into the run down dump next to Giant and you will understand even more. You will find its "dining room" devoid of customers even at the busiest of hours and has storage, dirt, and darkness in the dining room. We as local residents deserve better. If New China does not appreciate the customer base it has the potential to have and treats customers like this I would love for all locals to join in ignoring this place till they clean up their act or hopefully leave and allow another business that appreciates the town to move in. I wish this was not the case and hate to run down a business but New China does not deserve any of our business and they are taking the place of other potential businesses and families that love their clients and can grow their business and help grow the town. It is time to forget this place and allow them to move somewhere else so we can allow someone else the opportunity to benefit us all. Out of curiousity I decided to check out the health inspections of New China (436 E. Main St, Middletown, PA, 17057). Even I was surprised. They have aleady ruined me or anyone I know as a customer, but I thought that they must have some sort of track record of being a respectable, sanitary, and infestation free business if they were willing to treat consumers the way they do. I guess I have to say I was surprised. If my business had these violations on public record I would make every effort not to upset loyal customers. Especially if I was in the wrong, but again that is just not how New China operates. - HEALTH PROBLEMS - October of 2015 - - 14 V I O L A T I O N S T O T A L - https://www.pafoodsafety.pa.gov/Web/Inspection/PublicInspectionSearch.aspx (HIGHLIGHTS below-please check out the link for more) - Inspector Comments --Observed opened raw meats, intended to be kept for more than 24 hours, stored in the walk-in cooler without any date-marking. --The Person in Charge does not have adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection. --Observed raw chicken stored above pork in the walk-in cooler. --Women's toilet room is not provided with a covered waste receptacle for sanitary napkins. --Observed 3 roaches under the 3-compartment sink. --Observed old rodent droppings behind the shelving units in the dry storage area. This is when is gets interesting again because they get to November of 2015 and decide to be in compliance with only two disgusting violations. (1 month later) https://www.pafoodsafety.pa.gov/Web/Inspection/PublicInspectionSearch.aspx but then... Less than a year later - October 11, 2016 - - 9 VIOLATIONS TOTAL - https://www.pafoodsafety.pa.gov/Web/Inspection/PublicInspectionSearch.aspx Some highlights - --The Person-in-Charge of this non-compliant facility is not performing the duties as required by the PA Food Code to actively manage food safety in this facility. --Food in the walk-in cooler and freezer stored open with no covering. --Raw chicken was stored above cabbage and other produce in walk-in cooler. --Observed egg rolls placed on a tray that was set on top of an open trash can. --Observed dirty aprons and rags being laundered in the three compartment sink. --Observed cleavers are not being immersed for a minimum of 10 seconds in the chlorine sanitizing compartment of the manual warewashing sink. --Observed scoop and ladle in hand wash sink. --Screen door located in the rear of the food facility has a gap and and screen is torn and does not protect against the entry of insects, rodents, and other animals. close Now on an inspection on 10/28/2016 they are back down to 2 disgusting violations...for a few months maybe until they are covered in fecies and insects again? ....I am actually thankful they treated me so poorly so it encouraged me to look further into their business so that I might be able to help other people avoid this death trap of an establishment. I myself am already finished with New China. Everything in this report is completely accurate and gets even more ugly looking into the details. I have provided just some highlights.
