I ordered using Grub Hub. The food arrived hot. Unfortunately the Scallion Pancakes were dark brown and overcooked to the consistency of leather. They were inedible. The Hot and Sour soup was also a disappointment. It lacked the spicy hot /sour dimension that traditionally defines it. An odd floral taste dominated the soup instead. I regret ordering a quart. I regret ordering it at all. The rice in The Shrimp with Lobster Sauce combo plate was hard, the Lobster sauce was nothing more than a salty gelatinous goo. The shrimp, however, were tender, perfectly cooked, and piping hot. So, I guess not all was lost. But I expected more for $58 (includes 20% tip for Grub Hub). Grub Hub deserves 5 stars for fast service and delivering my order while it was still hot. read more

Grabbed take-out for my gf's birthday from here and was blown away. I walked into the restaurant not knowing what to expect. A new restaurant is always an unknown territory, after all. The food was ready when I got there: 2 appetizers, and 3 meals all out in a big paper bag all done in 20 minutes. On the drive home, the delicious smells coming from the bag made me feel like I was driving a car full of flavor and I was happy to be a part of it. When I got home me and the birthday gal were salivating over everything. Egg roll cheesesteak, chicken rice soup, sweet and sour chicken, beef fried rice, and house special mei fun; and we chowed down. This was all done on the 4th of July. Asian Cafe is definitely on the top of my list now, and I can't wait to go again! read more

This is an unfortunate review, and not one I would regularly write, but the absolute bananas situation that the Asian Cafe in Carlisle presented this evening is worth noting. The food is fine - I've had it before, so as long as the place isn't busy, you'll likely be satisfied with your order. That said, this is crazy. It's understandable that on Christmas Day, they'd be crazy busy. It's one of the few places open and I appreciate that the folks working are truly working right now (the guy behind the counter had two phones that are literally ringing nonstop). They have two websites, likely because they switched at some point from one provider to another. The one that came up for me on Google was "carlisleasiancafe.com" but after waiting an hour and calling in wondering where my order was, they said their website is "asiancafecarlisle." They said to just "cancel" the order on the other website, but there was no way to do that. I had to create an account and it took my credit card info (AND sent me a confirmation email), but they claimed they don't operate that website any longer. The guy took my order on the phone, and when he said it would be an hour for delivery (we'd already been waiting for an hour at that point), he said it would be 30 mins for take out. When I got there, it was packed with people waiting for their orders. Other people said they had the same issues with the website, and that they'd been waiting around for 30 minutes or more. It's a clean establishment, and there's a little bit of seating inside. It was packed but not super uncomfortable, so while I have legitimate concerns about this place, the taste of the food and the cleanliness of the facility are not concerns. I truly hope they figure this website nonsense out because this was a very disruptive way to end our Christmas! read more

I'm very impressed with this restaurant. Ordered the chicken broccoli over the phone and it was ready within minutes of me picking it up. Had never been there before and found it just by looking up Chinese restaurants in the area that were on the way home. Though I only wanted take out, it looked like there is no area to sit down to eat ( maybe just at this time during the Covid pandemic that is lingering). In any case, they have one of the best system setups to be safe from Covid. There is complete plexiglass shielding from ceiling to floor between the order/cooking area and customer area. They have a drop pipe to give them payment and double plexiglass mini doors are used to provide you with your order. Excellent caution system. It looked more secure than a bank. The employee was friendly too and the one meal was enough for two of us. The food was savory and perfect. The only one negative aspect of this place is the outside from the parking area doesn't look very appealing ( kind of very bla and plain, almost as if they are closed up). Also the waiting area isn't very welcoming. But aside from that, kudos to their staff, owner and manager! read more

After A long drive I didn't feel like going out so I wanted something delivered to my hotel. I read the reviews and decided to try it. I ordered a small Mongolian beef, and because I could not decide on one I ordered steamed dumplings and friend dumplings. The items were delivered right to my room within 45 minutes from the time I placed my call. The cost was cheap! I say cheap because I live in CT and everything is so expensive. But. Ack to the food- it was all very flavorful and good and I am glad I ordered a small Mongolian beef, it was enough for 2. The dumplings were good but the thick wrapper style so you're getting mostly carbs. I prefer the thin skin style. But either way still good but they are so big 1 order is enough for 3 people. I gave them 4 stars because it's typical quick Chinese food. But definitely worth trying. read more

Getting Chinese takeout is one of my favorite things to do on the weekend, however, this one was sub par. The food itself was not up to the standards I am accustomed to. The lo Mein has little flavor and the rice was pretty dry. Customer service was good with the exception of not being able to identify my order when I picked it up by last name. Worst service! I ordered delivery and was told it would be about an hour. After an hour and ten minutes, I called and was advised they were extremely busy tonight but my order was on the way. After another 40 minutes, I called to cancel the order and was told it would be delivered in five minutes and that it would be hot. They offered half off to not cancel. Upon delivery, I was given cash for the "half" off but it was slightly less. We finally sit down to eat and the food was cold. This place is the worst. When you order it's always 30-35 mins to pick up! I have never known a Chinese restaurant to need more than 15/20minutes to put together a meal. Then to add insult to injury they don't start your order until you arrive to pick it up 35 minutes later Resulting in almost a one hour wait from phone call order to pick up!!They need to figure out how to manage time better and get the orders out faster. Food is OK for Chinese takeout but Pala e China is so much better and delivers within a reasonable amount of time. Worth the drive over to downtown Carlisle. I just recently ordered take out from here. The food arrived within 15 minutes of the time I placed the order. It was stll hot when I opened the containers, in fact I had to wait a minute or so before I could est it. I had egg rolls, spring rolls, fried rice (plain), and pork lo mein. I ordered a quart of both the fried rice and pork lo mein. Needless to say I had leftovers for lunch the next day. The only regret I had was I should've had ordered pork fried rice. The plain was just to plain for me. My mistake. I will know better next time I order. The young lady that delivered was very polite and helpful since I'm temporarily in a wheelchair. Moved to Carlisle 7 months ago, still trying to find a good dependable place to eat. Then I found Asian Café! They have CONSISTENTLY good dishes, the phone staff are easy to communicate with and always polite. Delivery is quick and easy. You can pay by card over the phone or cash with the driver, I've never had any issues with different amounts being charged to my card then I was quoted. The food is fresh, not weighed down in sauce and you can tell the oil is changed regularly on the fried items. A variety of fresh veggies in each dish! Each sauce looks and tastes different. The rice is cooked correctly, and isn't mushy or slimy. Dumplings are filled out with yummy meats, cheese or seafood. I L-O-V-E the General Tso's Tofu. Yes, tofu! Lightly breaded and quickly fried, making the tofu cubes take on a delicious crunchy bite. The General's sauce is to-die-for! Not too sweet, not too hot...they'll make it any way you want it. Tip: Substitute pork fried rice for the regular white rice. It has BIG pieces of pork, carrots, peas and onions in it. Costs an extra $2 for a pint but is absolutely worth every penny. read more

Since I was nearby and hungry for Asian food, I had lunch here today. This is certainly primarily for take-out. I arrived at 11:55 and was finished eating by 12:35, being the only one eating in. There did seem to be many take-out orders while I was there. The scallops with garlic were served to me on a paper plate in a rather dingy, small dining area on the other side of the short wall that separated the few tables from the cooking area. There was no music, which is all right by me. There were about 5 or 6 small scallops with a plentiful portion of veggies, which were not overcooked. I asked for less seasoning, fearing it would be too spicy, but that made for a rather bland dish. The food was served within 6 minutes and was all piping hot. I've been here twice. First off, the parking lot is terrible and difficult to get out of if its busy. Not much seating inside, the place is definitely designed for take-out business. First time was for lunch last week. Ate in, got the General Tso lunch special. The flavor was underwhelming and the chicken was not very crispy. The sauce was a little too gooey, and the white rice was fine. It came with a spring roll that tasted like every other spring roll. Maybe 3 stars, good enough to try again. I ordered bean curd, Szechwan style over the phone, and when I arrived, was told they ran out of bean curd. That's an automatic one-star if you cannot order the right amount of supplies. The problem is Carlisle has plenty of 3-4 star Chinese places, so I feel little need to take a chance if a place runs out of a main ingredient. They were apologetic, and I may try a final time, but for now I will stick with Chen's for a sit down meal, or China Palace for take-out. read more

While I will agree that a majority of the food is pretty well on-par with stuff you can get just about anywhere else, there are some menu items that have stood out on their own. (Seriously, try the chicken lettuce wraps. They're amazing.) However, what gets my rating is that the staff is friendly, they always get my order right, the delivery drivers never get lost, and by the way? THEY DELIVER. There was only one Chinese place in town that delivered to my home before, and they lost my business because of their complete lack of customer service.
