I choose this place because it is advertised as farm to table. The smoothies were great. The chicken was slimy and stringy obviously old and packaged. The bread was not fresh obviously store bought. The dining experience was unique. The food was high quality, with a focus on local and "actually healthy" food (meaning offerings like grass-fed beef), and the environment was nice. A big difference from the typically chain-restaurant. This restaurant had decorations that were eclectic, which were fun to look at. There were not traditional wait staff service, but rather we ordered and paid for our food at the register, which was fine. They brought it out and everything was delicious. When an hour in my morning unexpectedly freed up, I decided to take a break and go out for breakfast. I'd heard good things from friends about this spot, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I'm glad I did. The restaurant is homey, with a wooden interior, a couple of tables and lots of natural light. There's a ramp entrance from the back parking lot, making this a relatively accessible space. Once it was time to order, I felt rushed. The menus were on the walls, so there wasn't much opportunity to peruse the offerings before the wait staff wanted to take my order. The staff member taking orders at the register seemed impatient or distracted; she kept looking at the group who came in behind me as I placed my order. It didn't feel very mellow in that moment. Despite that temporary awkwardness, the smoothie I got was great. (It was so good I forgot to take a photo!) The Super Green Berry Beet had a rich, deep red color and a well balanced flavor. The spinach and beet flavors were recognizable and tempered the sweetness of all the other fruits with their earthiness. If you don't do seeds, skip this smoothie--there were a lot of seeds, which I liked, because it indicated they didn't skimp on the berries. My drink was made quickly and was very refreshing and satisfying. I'm looking forward to returning and trying the food and seeing if the vibes are different. I love coming to mellow minded for lunch, quality ingredients at a reasonable price. I always get the turkey club with a lemon mint tea, both are delicious. The waitstaff is friendly and food comes out quickly even when they're busy. Little did I know someone was hosting their Christmas party in the small cafe but the restaurant was open, I asked the staff and everyone seemed indifferent to me being there so I ordered dinner. Very glad I decided to stay because the meal was delicious and has been the highlight of my week. After sharing my dietary restrictions, the staff suggested a couple options and I decided on the Veggie Fajitas with tempeh and portobello. Additionally she told me the soup of the day was flavorful so I tried a cup of their vegan friendly vegetable soup. Given it is the middle of December, the hot and savory soup truly hit the spot. The location is technically Harrisburg, but I guess it's in one of the little adjoining towns that reeked of country charm, but with a liberal twist. Mango-Pomegranate Smoothie ($6.25) My picky son would have none of the house-combination smoothies, but they were kind enough to make one for him to his exact specifications: Pomegranate Juice & Mango. Ah, kids these days... Anywho, I took a taste and it was quite refreshing! 4* Southwest Tofu Bowl ($9.95) This dish isn't part of their regular menu, but a daily special. It consisted of quinoa, tofu (or chicken), kale, peppers and topped with avocado. I really enjoyed the freshness and flavor throughout. My only complaint was it could've used a little heat (which I added with Sriracha) and it was a touch oily, but otherwise terrific. 4* Service & Ambiance Service was very friendly and personable. The interior felt so homey with it's all wood flooring and walls, and the décor was very modern and a bit hippy-dippy―but in a classy way. I really enjoyed the chalk murals, in particular. 5* Value Really good prices for organic and fresh ingredients. As dishes ranged from the $9-15 range. 4.5* The entire process at MMC feels like one is dining in the home of a good friend; from the friendly service to fresh and tasty food, one can't wait to be invited back. Mellow Minded is a delicious little spot with a number of healthy options! This time I tried the grass fed burger (no bun) with a side salad. E everything was very good! They dress the side salads with the perfect amount of balsamic dressing, a skill I definitely haven't mastered at home. It's a small place and it gets busy over lunch. It can be hard to get a table and it may take some time to place/receive your order. It is definitely not what I'd consider a quick bite. Today it took about 10 minutes to get through the line and place my order - the cashier apologized for the wait and was very courteous (a long line is to be expected at lunch, I get it!). It took about 15-20 minutes before I received my food. The friend I was with ordered a salad and they had that out much faster. Again, I understand it takes longer for a burger, but it's important to go in with patience. They have a ton of cool smoothie options and a nice list of specials. Everything I've had has been a solid choice. I wish they offered more of a lettuce wraps for no bun burgers, but I get that it's quite a specific request.
