Had lunch here with my sister. I got the Rachel with chips and a mango smoothie. Both were really delicious. My sister got homemade iced tea and a tuna melt, I tried both of hers and they were really delicious too. The bathroom and restaurant were clean and the staff was so nice. It was such a relaxing and clam place, I am already thinking about the next time I got and try something new.

Forgive the bite taken of the gluten free crab cake sandwich with chips.

Great to have some wholesome and gluten free options nearby. The crab cake sandwich was good and tasty. Service was fairly quick and the inside was homey. I came the last hour before closing so there wasn't a big crowd but I will definitely stop back in for a casual lunch.

When an hour in my morning unexpectedly freed up, I decided to take a break and go out for breakfast. I'd heard good things from friends about this spot, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I'm glad I did. The restaurant is homey, with a wooden interior, a couple of tables and lots of natural light. There's a ramp entrance from the back parking lot, making this a relatively accessible space. Once it was time to order, I felt rushed. The menus were on the walls, so there wasn't much opportunity to peruse the offerings before the wait staff wanted to take my order. The staff member taking orders at the register seemed impatient or distracted; she kept looking at the group who came in behind me as I placed my order. It didn't feel very mellow in that moment. Despite that temporary awkwardness, the smoothie I got was great. (It was so good I forgot to take a photo!) The Super Green Berry Beet had a rich, deep red color and a well balanced flavor. The spinach and beet flavors were recognizable and tempered the sweetness of all the other fruits with their earthiness. If you don't do seeds, skip this smoothie--there were a lot of seeds, which I liked, because it indicated they didn't skimp on the berries. My drink was made quickly and was very refreshing and satisfying. I'm looking forward to returning and trying the food and seeing if the vibes are different. I sure hope they are because I could see this becoming a great place for a healthy treat!

We stopped in for a little Saturday Brunch ... counter service ... reasonable prices ... simple tasty fare. Deceptively larger seating inside and out than I expected. All the service ware is disposable ... also sorta surprising based on the awesome atmosphere, decor and artwork. Only downside things were a little dirty ... our table hadn't been wiped down and the restroom could use a little attention. Totally coming back though!!

Gluten-free items were good. Wishing they had a bigger menu. I like eating there but wish they would advertise their specisls.

The kitchen sink breakfast and strawberry ricotta pancakes are highly recommended after a weekend outdoors. My group of eight dined out on the patio for Sunday brunch on a beautiful day. We had two dogs with us as we were rounding out a camping trip in nearby Halifax, and the staff was more than accommodating by bringing out a bowl of water for them. The restaurant itself is a sprawling campus featuring beautiful vintage architecture inside the main building, alongside a modernized covered patio for comfortable outdoor dining all year round. Service was excellent throughout our meal. We made these reservations a few weeks in advance for such a large party with animals, and they were completely ready for us when we arrived. The food was above average and exactly what I have come to expect from slightly upscale American brunch spots. I opted for the kitchen sink breakfast, which is rightfully named since it includes eggs, a thick slice of country ham, biscuit and gravy, and home fried potatoes. Everything was well prepared and really hit the spot after being outside for a few days of camping. I also split an order of the strawberry ricotta pancakes with my wife and was very impressed. I am not usually one to eat pancakes, but these were incredibly light and fluffy. The ricotta complimented the strawberries well, making the dish taste very similar to a strawberry shortcake. Overall, this is a solid brunch spot with great ambiance that I can highly recommend if you are in the Harrisburg area.

This week's Friday Night Solo Date Night destination took me to Greystone Public House -- a spot…read moreI've heard people talk about for a while but had never tried myself. When I realized I'd be just minutes away late Friday afternoon on one of the nicest days of the year so far, it felt like the perfect time to finally give it a shot. Friday afternoon, 74°, end of a long work week...this absolutely screamed "patio dinner," and Greystone delivered on that front! I arrived around 4:45pm and asked for patio seating, and was seated at a great table in full sun. The vibe was exactly what I was hoping for -- calm, quiet, and a really beautiful setting. When I got there, the patio was about one-third full, but by the time I left around 5:30pm, it had nearly emptied out. That said, I could definitely see this being a go-to spot when the weather is nice, so reservations are probably a smart move if you're aiming for patio seating. For my meal, I went with the shrimp salad wrap with a Caesar salad and a Diet soda. On paper, it sounded like a solid, light dinner option. In reality...it didn't quite hit for me. The shrimp salad was very mayo-heavy with minimal seasoning, and it was loaded with large chunks of celery (like...a lot of celery). The menu also indicated the wrap would include tomato but it didn't. The shrimp were left whole, which made it tough to eat as a wrap -- I ended up just picking out and eating the shrimp and leaving most of the wrap behind...along with what felt like an entire stalk of celery. Not exactly what I had in mind. Service also missed the mark a bit. My server checked in shortly after the food was delivered, but then disappeared for quite a while. I finished eating and waited about 20 minutes for my check, with both my Diet soda and water empty and no refill in sight before she eventually came back. My total came to $24.30 before tip, which put the experience right around $30 for one person, one cold wrap, one side salad and a Diet soda -- and for that price point, I was expecting something a little more elevated, both in food and service. Greystone definitely has the look of an upscale, country club-style dining experience. The space is beautiful, especially the patio, and the overall atmosphere is appealing. But right now, it feels like the execution isn't quite matching the vision. The food lacked that "oh my god this is GOOD" factor, and the service didn't support the price point. Also worth noting -- a few small maintenance details stood out, like a broken toilet paper dispenser laying in pieces in the women's restroom and loose floor tiles near the bar that shift when you step on them. Not dealbreakers, but noticeable in a space aiming for a more polished experience. Overall, Greystone is a great spot for the vibes -- especially on a sunny day -- but the food and service didn't quite live up to expectations for me. I'd come back for the patio, but I'd probably manage expectations (and maybe try something different on the menu next time).

Squires, located at the Colonial Golf and Tennis Club on Linglestown Rd., has both indoor and outdoor dining/bars. The outside patio is amazing and a relaxing way to spend the afternoon or dine. Service was top notch, professional and very friendly, which created a welcoming atmosphere. On this visit we sampled a few items from their new fall menu, starting off with the buffalo chicken dip. Served with grilled pita triangles, the dip was delicious with a nice balance of heat and flavor. Plus they actually serve enough pita pieces to finish the dip. We also sampled two meals on this visit. The first was the Colonial Burger, which was a grilled burger, cooked perfectly, and topped with fresh topping on a bun that was not too bready for the burger. I found the burger very good, satisfying my burger craving. The second item tried was the Gouda Chicken Sandwich on a pretzel roll. Large chicken breast cooked nicely and topped with bacon, cheese and a mildly spicy ranch sauce. Both sandwiches came with French fries, which were amazing! Just the type of crispy fries that we love and served in a large portion, which really hit the spot! In addition to the good food, a nice selection of beers on tap is available, including a rotating Troegs and yards choice. Overall, Squires exceeded our expectations and we look forward to returning to try some of their entrees in the future.

While looking for a new place to try, I found Squires to be just down the road from my location at…read morethe time. It sounded good, menu looked good, and according to the website I had 2 hours to get there; so I went. To clarify, Squires is the restaurant located at Colonial Golf and Tennis Club's clubhouse. It is a pretty fancy dining area with a nice little menu and a good choice in music. When I arrived I was instantly reminded of the officer's club I used to go to in Mechanicsburg before it closed. Unfortunately, Squires didn't live up to my initial expectations. My first disappointment came while reading the menu; the full menu is only offered after 5. This is noted on their menu, however the website states the restaurant closed at 4 and only the bar is open after that: rather confusing. Perhaps this is why the staff seemed so aloof. So, forced to order off a limited menu, we settled on the Caribbean Bites, a Fisherman's Sandwich, and the Autumn Caprese Salad. The bites were pretty tasty, coated with Caribbean spices and a very good coconut sauce. The fish sandwich was also good; it was a nice sized and came with what I assume was house tartar sauce. My salad however was a disaster. The Autumn Caprese sounded good because it was a combination of spiced, grilled apples, candied nuts and mozzarella cheese. From paper to plate however, the ratio became gravely disproportioned. There was about half an apple, four nuts and half a pound of cheese. As much as I like fresh mozzarella, I was expecting a blended salad as opposed to cheese on lettuce. Aside from the decor, the biggest highlight of the place was the onion rings; they were excellent. I believe this place would be good for events and I very much would like to try their dinner menu -they list a variety of unique options. So, if ever I make it back to do so, so will I return here to update my review.

My husband who is not as picky as I, was even having a hard time with the quality of the food. Everything that we ordered was clearly purchased from a frozen food store; chicken cordon blue, processed and previously frozen, mozzarella sticks (which typically are previously frozen), tasted like they were cooked in oil that has not been changed in ages, boxed mashed potatoes, broccoli tasted like (and had the texture) as if it had been on a steam table all day.

We used to come here when it was Gordons and I think we've been here before it was that. Neither one blew my hair off but Gordon's was okay for a breakfast and even some lunch options weren't too bad. Enough about them this is a new owner/manager and I had high hopes. So there appears to be some construction that started before this new management but it doesn't appear to be finished so the layout is kind of weird. When we came in we were greeted by a friendly woman who wished us a Merry Christmas and let us know of the buffet and the "Jewelry show" which was really a woman displaying her Paparrazi jewelry to sell. This isn't a "show" this is a MLM person trying to sell her wares. Not a show. Anyway we sat near the buffet and thought we'd give it a try. It was a bunch of pans with sterno underneath and everytime you lifted a lid water poured from it. So everything was soggy and water logged. I craved homefries the most and they were literally sitting in water. Oh man. They also had floppy waffles and overcooked meats floating. There was some cut up cake that was stale from sitting out and cut up fruit that was browned from sitting out. Just not appealing. So I ordered off the menu. The breakfast I got was just meh. Nothing horrible but definitely not good. It appeared that they tried to refill the food on the buffet while we were there and maybe that would have been the only way to get it not waterlogged. The service was friendly enough but the restaurant felt cold inside and they were blasting C-Span which wasn't like a cozy Sunday morning breakfast feeling. Also the servers were kind of sitting by the register between working so the overall vibe was just odd. There's so many restaurants to choose from this was just a waste of time for me. I won't go back unless I have confirmation that things have improved.
