filthy, unappetizing floors etc. 10/2024
Matthew B.

It's 4pm on a Monday so they are not busy but they are too busy to clean ANYTHING in the dining room. The floors are filthy, the seating is filthy and the tables are sticky. The bathroom is a mess as well as the overflowing trash cans. The food portions are small and pricey. This place needs to management to fix this location.

Sad chicken Cobb salad.
Cynthia W.

Seriously disappointing. Just close this restaurant down. It's not worth saving. I placed an online order for pickup which was easy and the app is great. I ordered a chicken Cobb salad and a tea. Upon entering to pick up my order I was told where my food was to take it myself which was fine. I had to ask for the drink cup and make it myself. Still fine. Then I get home and open the most pitifully depressing Cobb salad ever. The greens barely covered the bottom of the bowl. The eggs were just cut in half and cherry tomatoes that looked mangled. I paid extra for extra avocado. I wouldn't have done that had I known they would get 4 or 5 large of avocado. Some chicken thrown in. The chicken was juicy (unnaturally so) and flavorless. Little to no effort put into the salad. Didn't even bother to chop up the ingredients properly. It's a salad! It doesn't require that much skill. I can't believe I paid money for a salad that is worse than a salad kit at a grocery store. Never again.

You can see how dirty the wall is and the runs from liquid

The food tasted good overall. The don't see how this restaurant is still open. The restaurant is dirty as can be dust hanging from the ceiling. The floor is not being cleaned. Cushions are not being repaired. Walls and tables are not being wiped down on regular basis. Disgusting.

The food was always wonderful. Many selections of iced tea. Really good service. They take good care of my mom there.

Dirty and lukewarm water rather than hot in the carafe for tea. Nice and friendly staff made my visit bearable.

No condiments. The cashier asked for a tip, so I gave her 20%, then she made me fetch the cold meal. Unpleasant experience.

I am sad to say that I just left Panera bread drive-through and noticed that the dining room was closed and it's due to lack of employees.

LUMORA - Buffalo Chicken Pinsa at Lumora

LUMORA

Today, we enjoyed a Valentine's Day lunch at Lumora Kitchen and Bar in Covington. Lumora is…read morerelatively new and is by the same folks responsible for The District in Ponchatoula, which is one of our favs. Located on Highway 190, Lumora has a stylish, contemporary persona that is decidedly upscale, but still possesses a comfortable, laid-back vibe that is quite appealing. Service was friendly and efficient and Taylor took excellent care of us. General Manager Josie dropped by our table to share info on Lumora and her visit was appreciated. There is a full bar and a wide selection of specialty cocktails. Today I had a Blood Orange Mezcal Margarita and my wife had an Ex-Presso Martini. Both were great! I highly recommend the Mezcal spice served up on the Margarita's rim in place of the standard salt. We then enjoyed the Zydeco Eggroll appetizer, which the pepper jelly garnish made truly memorable. I then followed with the Buffalo Chicken Pinsa and my wife had the Hot Honey Pepperoni Pinsa. Both were excellent; hot, pleasantly spicy, and generously portioned. We took home a lot of food. Although we had no room for dessert, several on the menu looked quite sumptuous. In short, Lumora Kitchen and Bar is highly recommended! It's a great spot for lunch, happy hour drinks, or a special date night. We will return.

We were a table of 7, ordered appetizers, and were brought the check immediately after--before anyone ever asked if we wanted entrees or dessert. It felt extremely rushed and unwelcoming. The servers were rude, inattentive, and made us feel like they just wanted us out of there. To make matters worse, we were overcharged, and my credit card was run before I was even shown the final bill, which is completely unacceptable. Great food, but the service needs serious improvement. Sadly, that alone would keep me from returning. Disappointed coming from southshore for Christmas dinner.. owner of this restaurant, really needs to get with his staff!

Okay, this is my fifth visit here in five months so it's safe to say I'm either a glutton for…read morepunishment or that this place is great. Fortunately, it's the later, by a wide margin. Why you ask? Simple, it's great. My reasons: 1) Every time we've been here the service has been great. Not good, great. We've taken the time to meet/talk to the serving staff and they all have been friendly, attentive, and really good at their jobs. We have also met the owners and they too are lovely people. 2) The setting, given that's it's in a small strip mall is great. They have a large patio, plenty of umbrellas as booths, and multiple water features including a water wall. Inside the restaurant is equally beautiful. This is not Chi-Chis or some place trying to faux up the setting. 3) The food is great. If you are looking for typical Americanized Mexican, Spanish, South American food, this is not your place. If you are instead looking for great food that is more interesting, this is the place. For example, tonight we had a chicharron that looked liked two of biggest fried slices of hog heaven you could hope for. It was amazing! We also had the chimichurri sauce which was slightly different from what we have had in the past but it too was awesome! We even asked for some to go to which they said of course. 3) The portion size of most of what we've had over the five visits have almost always fit the price while things such as the steak fajitas were on the generous side for 2026. Bonus, big bonus- They are very dog friendly so your four legged and well behaved dogs are more than welcome in their spacious outdoor patio. And since the tables (not the booths) are not tightly together it's a good place even for the truly big dogs! That about covers it. So bring your fur baby, have a drink (they have some nice concoctions ) and enjoy a restaurant that recreates so many things from one of the owner's youth. And if you can sit outside, you will enjoy it even more! As always, apologies for my usually long and hopefully epic review. Cheers and happy dining all!

I've tried everything from appetizers to dessert, and not a single dish has disappointed. Every bite is packed with flavor, fresh, and clearly made with care. The aesthetic gives total "I'm-in-Disney-World" vibes -- think epcot. And yes, they totally pixie dust us with samples of drinks (which is such a cute touch). Speaking of drinks, do not skip the cucumber margarita. It's hands-down my favorite and super refreshing. Whether you're planning a romantic dinner, a fun lunch with friends, or just need a quiet spot to catch up over great food and conversation -- Kantunil has you covered. Can't recommend it enough.

We gave ourselves an hour and a half, enough time to eat and get to our next planned and scheduled event that day. So, we weren't in a rush. We get in the quickly moving line to order our food at the counter. I order a salmon bagel and the hubs ordered a meatball ciabatta. We sit down and I noticed it is a very busy place. It is a very large place and I noticed how clean everything was and how efficient all the workers were at getting the food out. One after the other, food was coming out like an assembly line and the food looked good, too. But the assembly line apparently stopped, no orders were coming out, and we waited about 20 or 25 minutes. At least we had our drinks because it is a counter service type establishment. We noticed stacks and stacks of 'to go' orders were being placed in the counter area. After nearly 35 or 40 minutes we get our food. Some guy had ordered a 'football teams' worth amount of food. So, although it was not the restaurant's fault, it was frustrating the timing that our order was f course put in right after the guy that ordered 20 dishes. I get my bagel to try to eat quickly, since now we are in a little bit of a rush. And the bagel couldn't have been more complicated to eat. I just wanted a complete lox bagel but it was a deconstructed bagel where I had to put the thing together. I would have enjoyed the meal a little better had my bagel been properly served, like for example, the way Flour Moon serves their bagels to customers. I don't know if we will be back because I rarely visit the Northshore, this was a special occasion. I guess if I do come back, I would like to try one or two of the desserts from the case. Those looked really good.

We have our favorites on both sides of the lake, but I recently read some great reviews somewhere online about Crazy Pig Southern Kitchen with locations in both Mandeville and Covington. After speaking with our friends we decided to dine at the Covington location of Crazy Pig Southern Kitchen. Inside the entrance, the restaurant posts their policy that you will not be seated at a table until all parties have arrived, which is understandable considering the huge amount of business they have. My wife and I arrived before our friends who were running a little late. The Hostess, Jill, asked me how many in our party and I told her four, but the other couple was running late and would be arriving in about 20 minutes. We took a seat in the empty waiting area inside the entrance. The restaurant appeared to have only one or two empty tables available inside when I arrived on a beautiful day. Five to ten minutes later the waiting area was full (approx. ten people). The restaurant was extremely noisy with all their customers enjoying their meals and conversing with friends/family. I noticed that there were approximately ten tables located in front of the restaurant in a beautiful covered patio, so I asked Jill if we could have a table outside once our friends arrived in about five more minutes because one of them was somewhat physically handicapped. There was only one empty table in the patio at the time. Jill explained that since she had a reservation in the patio for a party of eight that would be arriving soon, so she had been holding it for another available outside table to put together to accommodate this party. However, she said she would gladly give us the table. By this time, the waiting room was full of people and overflowing outside the entrance. I had given my seat to a lady and stepped outside to wait for my friends, who I noticed had arrived and parking their car. I told Jill and she seated us at the table in the patio. The four of us ordered different things on the menu, which were fantastic. Although the restaurant was packed, the waitress AND Jill visited our table several times to ensure we were enjoying our meals. Crazy Pig Southern Kitchens' ambiance, service, menu items (along with portion sizes) and prices were absolutely astounding. We were all very impressed and grateful for a beautiful dining experience. Special thanks to Jill who was abundantly pleasant to deal with. Crazy Pig Southern Kitchen certainly placed Jill in the right position.
