My mom and I ventured in here for lunch, and she's a huge Newk's fan (she frequents the one in Hattiesburg when visiting my grandma). I have a gluten allergy and know there are slim pickings on the menu, but the cauliflower crust is gluten free, and some of the salads are as well. When we walked in, it wasn't busy at all, but the staff was extremely friendly. The restaurant isn't large, but there are tons of seating options. Our food was served shortly after we ordered at the counter, and my pizza was piping hot (as desired). I wish Newk's would get gluten-free bread, but until then, I'll just get the cauliflower pizza. Immediately greeted, which was nice. Huge establishment. I'd heard about it the mom group locally. Thought I'd take my patient for lunch after outpatient surgery. Talk about uncharging. 40$ for two combos (half salad/sandwich) every half was 2$ each add on to the 10.79$ price, so it was actually 14.79$ per option, the almost 4$ per fountain drink. My 1/2 salad was the pasta chicken one. 1 piece of chicken in it. The sandwich again smallest amount of protein ever. I use to go to paradise bakery/Panerai and they give you real sizes. They of course slap the monitor in front for automatic gratuity, while ordering. You get your own silverware, fill your own drink, go to counter to order. For me it was not a win, sadly. For the price and 95% self service I will look for other options. I wanted to try it and we did, I'll stick with other options for that price on a lunch. I can see why it was empty. read more

What a great lunch spot! I have been to Newk's in other states but I'm happy it's finally in Mandeville! This location has lots of spaces with plenty of seating. The staff was very nice and the food was quick. I love their macaroni and soups! I hadn't tried anything else yet from the menu, but I'm sure it's delicious! My wife and I tried out a new place in Mandeville today which, all in all, was a good experience. Newk's Eatery was quite busy at lunchtime on a Monday, but counter ordering was courteous, welcoming, and efficient. Newk's decor is contemporary and the ambiance of the large dining room has sort of a bustling, urban, industrial lunch room vibe. With the full crowd we had today, it may have been the loudest restaurant I've ever been in. The menu is extensive, featuring signature sandwiches, salads, wraps, pizza, Mac and cheese, a kid's menu, desserts, etc. Orders are delivered to your table with very little wait. Fountain drinks and iced tea were self-serve. I had the signature spicy jalapeño ranch salad, with chicken, which was generously portioned, prepared with fresh ingredients, and quite good. My spouse had a lunch special that featured an Italian sandwich, with a tomato bisque that she thought was excellent. I look forward to seeing how Newk's Eatery develops, as I think it will do quite well for this Mandeville audience. Take-out and catering are available. read more

Just a bad experience. My wife and I were looking for a new spot to try something a little different. Well, this is not the place we hoped for. Soup: barely passable. Sandwich: overpriced, overhyped, again barely passable. Mac-n-cheese: if I had a dog, I would save him from having to eat this horrendous concoction. Ambience: not too bad for a suburban yuppie hangout. I am not a fan of the novo-chic let-the-customer-do-the-work ideology. Service: not here. Where to start with this train wreck...I dined here a few times after it opened and forgot about it. I came tonight and got a pick three. A white BBQ sauce chicken sandwich which wasn't bad. The salad was supposed to be a Cesar pasta salad but it was a weird mess. The pasta salad...well one bite and it was pushed aside. I paid $23 for the worst meal in a very long time. I can say the gal who took my order was friendly and the food came out fairly quickly. There's a reason there were only 5-8 people in the restaurant the entire time I was there. Is that ambiance enough? I suspect the place will be closed in a year or two...or it's a great tax write off for a business owner. read more

Imagine my surprise when I went to my car to pick up lunch today from the Mandeville location of Newks, and my car wouldn't start! I called Newks directly, since I ordered in the app and asked if they could change the order to delivery. Since I made the order online there wasn't a way to change it to a door dash unfortunately. But the lady on the phone said "Where do you live?" and "I'm on my way!" Even though Newks doesn't handle deliveries. Then imagine my surprise when Katie showed up and she's the General Manager of the location! I was floored that she did it herself. She said "We try to make it right for the customer." Mind you this wasn't a huge order either. All I can say is Katie is, hands down the most inspiring, get-it-done general manager of a restaurant franchise I have ever witnessed in action. Newk's is a family favorite roadtrip stop every time we travel to AL/FL beaches or really anywhere east. I was so happy to finally have a location near home! Well, this was my first and last visit to this little eatery. It's not a bad concept. You look at the menu board place your order pay your bill they give you a number you sit at your table and then you watch your food. Come out and sit on a Counter until someone decides to go pick it up and bring it to you. That's the first thing now they're broccoli and cheese soup was excellent, but the French dip sandwich was absolutely horrible. They do have good free bread and butter pickles but they don't have any Louisiana hot sauce except for Tabasco which everybody hates so didn't have a good experience and I won't be back. read more

Placed my ordered through the app to be delivered. Unfortunately the Uber delivery person didn't realized to grab my drink and my dessert. Therefore, I called the restaurant and spoke to Sarah. She immediately apologized and suggested that she took one offer a refund or I can come up there and grab the missing items. I explained to her that I did not have a vehicle as my vehicle was being worked on. She immediately stated that she would be more than happy to bring it to me in 20 minutes after she got off if I was willing to wait. And explain to her that was not necessary, but she insisted. Ate at this Newks shortly after it opened on a Saturday morning. Food was good. Floor was dirty and had to wipe off our own table.

Today, my wife and I decided to go eat here. I wanted the Philly & Chesse on this Special Bread. I have had Philly sandwiches all over the United States even in Philadelphia, PA.. Jersey Mike's subs even makes Phillies and they do a real good job with them, they cook all the vegetables and meat together then puts it on your bread of choice which is severed pipping hot. When the Philly came it looked like a normal roast beef sandwich with some vegetables and it was luke warm at best. Their menu reads New - Newk's Philly - Roast Beef, Caramelized Onions, Red and Yellow Bell Peppers, Cheddar, Our Pimiento Cheese, Mayo. You would think it would be all cooked together but it was not. I love Sweet Ice Tea - it tasted like either old tea or the container not wasted out. The place looks nice but service is quite slow for being lunch time and a lot of people coming in after us. Pontchartrain PoBoys does a lot better of job for speed of service during lunchtime & dinnertime then Newk's, & the food is severed piping. hot. I have been dining at Newk's at other locations , Gulf Port in MS and Monroe , LA. I was happy to see that one finally opened here. I have been here 3 times since it opened and I find the staff very pleasant and very accommodating. They are also very quick with the food service and the food is delivered hot.I appreciate that they have let you pick your sides because I have never been a fan of the limited choices . I love their chicken salad sandwich on the sourdough bread and the chicken tortilla soup.I also love their supreme pizza, which had not been short on toppings . Keep up the great work read more

I was looking forward to having this place open, but it was really disappointing. There are no windows in the main dining area. It reminded me of a hospital cafeteria. There is no acoustic material to absorb sound, so it was extremely noisy. We found it hard to have a conversation. I ordered a chicken pesto sandwich. It was really small, and it literally had one layer of chicken that was about 1/8" thick and loaded with pesto. It was too expensive for the portions. The baked potato chips were terrible. No, I won't be returning. There are too many other good options nearby. read more
