This place is general run pretty well. I love their sandwiches and salads especially! Today I'm trying the Ciabatta Cheesesteak which is actually a pretty good spin to the classic Philly Cheesesteak. The sweet peppers add a really nice sweet touch to it and balanced by the caramelized onions and aoli sauce and the traditional provolone cheese. Yum! Join their club/app cause today I got a $5 off code added to my account and my lunch was a deal!! Btw the drink membership thing they have is great if you get coffee everyday (or soda, juice, tea, etc). I get a 32 oz ice coffee and sip it all day! Just make sure as you're filling your cup (if you do the iced) that you can't see thru the coffee cause it's supposed to be double brewed but sometimes they make it watery (hence the 4 stars instead of 5) read more

I got a gift card to Panera for my birthday, so I went to the one nearest me at 9901 Capital of TX Hwy. I've never been, so I was really looking forward to it. I invited a friend, and off we went. First thing, the temperature inside was freezing! Luckily I had my rain jacket, but even so by the end of my meal I was so cold that going out in the driving rain seemed like a release. It wasn't just me, my friend complained about it, too. Next, it seems that despite their breathtaking prices ($8 for a bowl of soup, $4 for a soda!) they couldn't afford someone to attend the register. All through my time there, lines would form of up to six people with no one around to take their orders. Lots of noise in the back, nothing going upfront. Once my order was ready, I asked for someone to carry my tray to my table, as I am mobility impaired. Would you believe the woman behind the counter argued with me that they didn't have to do that? But finally a young man behind the counter walked up and helped me. What kind of place would hassle me over that? It is visually obvious that I am disabled. So rude and inconsiderate!! I had the bowl of squash soup I had was a surprise. It was a sweet soup, not a savory one. It was good, once I got used to the idea. Still, I wished that it had said something about that on the menu. But I had another surprise coming,, there was a chunk of chicken at the bottom of my bowl. Clearly carelessness on their part, good thing I'm not a vegetarian. My friend's mac and bacon soup was noticeably low on bacon. They forgot it at first, and when he reminded them he saw the woman behind the counter measure it out with a tiny scoop. This is one of those franchises that started off amazing and now is just so-so. I remember when Panera first opened. I used to crave their food and probably had it at least once a week. Now, it's something I'll have when I'm really hungry and they are the closest option. I chose to go in today simply because they were next door to the other business I was in. They are conveniently located in a small strip mall and there is usually no problem with parking. The store is clean and it's a lot easier with the self serve ordering. I had the half sandwich and cup of soup. For the sandwich, I had the turkey. For starters, their bread tastes like it is only halfway cooked. The meat is just some processed turkey meat. Not fresh turkey. I don't recommend the turkey. For soup, I had the cheddar broccoli. Again, there is no consistency. The soup used to have a very rich cheddar taste to it. But now it's just a weak taste of cheddar. I'm guessing there really isn't any actual cheddar but just a added flavor to a generic soup stock. I had the baguette for the side and again, not what it used to be. For whatever reason, all the bread products seemed to be half baked. The baguette was like eating those half baked cookies. Sadly, the French baguette used to be something I really craved. But now when it is undercooked, it's just fair. The restaurant was clean and the staff seemed nice. But I'm coming for the food and it was just satisfactory. Meaning if you are starving, it's probably not a bad option. I purchase a Panera gift card at a big box store as a gift. Never gave it away so decided to use it for myself. The Paneras said there was money on it but it could only be used at a company Paneras store, not a franchise Paneras. I asked where a company Paneras was in Austin but clerk had no idea. I have been a regular at Panera Bread since May of this year. My mom in Dallas talked about the unlimited drink club for about 13 dollars a month. I called the store to ask about it. They were in a big afternoon rush and couldn't answer the phone. Gladly the manager called me back about 15 mins later. I told him I was interested in signing up for the drink club. He told me all about it and how to sign up online. Y'all, it's the best value out there and I am so glad I did. I live off of Jollyville and had previously gone to Dunkin each morning and was spending 5 bucks a day. This Panera club pays for itself within less than 3 days. I usually also go in at lunch for an iced tea, and after work for an iced coffee. I work around 10 to 11 hours a day Monday thru Friday and they help keep me caffeinated. lol. The staff is all very nice and respectful. There is Jackie who is always fun to talk to. She is always super friendly. During the week and in the morning there is Callolain ( don't think that's the correct spelling of her name though). She is always friendly and has a smile and we sometimes make morning small talk. At night there is a younger guy named Joshua . He is super nice and very polite. The managers are all great also. The general manager is very good at her job. There is Jaxon and Nick. Those guys do a great job running the store. There is also another manager who does a good job. I don't know his name but he is probably in my age group ( early 40s). He usually has a black polo on that he wears to work. One of the expo food prep guys named Andrew is a great guy also. We talk sometimes and he works hard at his job and seems to really like his job. There are some other cashiers that are friendly but I don't know their names. The food is good also. Being a drink club member you get points and discounts on food. For breakfast I like the soufflés . So good! For lunch and dinner I get the pick 2. Usually soup and Mac and cheese with a baguette. I would def recommend coming here and being a member! You can save money with the club and also enjoy some good food. read more

I love Panera! It is my go-to anytime. I love their salads, sauces, and sandwiches. Love the green goddess-lots of avocado and bacon! Yum! It was my first time entering the building itself (because I usually get it delivered). There is nice self-service and you can see your name on the wall for the progress of your order. I frequently work remotely from this location. I recognize the manager who has been here at least for the last few years, and he is a great manager- never afraid to do what's necessary to keep running, from wiping down tables to reupholstering the booths. I've had a lot of different food here. I tried the chicken sandwich (spicy) and found it grossly overpriced for what I received. They are trying to play into the spicy chicken sandwich phenomenon, but it misses the mark in many ways. Asian citrus salad is great. Flavorful and decent portion. Bagels are great. Soup and salad combo woohoo! We decided to stop by after doing some Costco errands. Their self-ordering kiosks are SO MUCH MORE EFFICIENT and fun to order from. Selecting meals was pretty easy: pick what you want, customize your order if you'd like, grab a tracker (so they know where to bring your food to), pay and find a table and wait for the staff to bring your order to you. We ordered a soup/salad combo with low-fat chicken noodle soup and a half order of Asian sesame chicken salad customized with wonton strips, cucumbers, extra side of basil pesto dressing and tomato wedges. Side was a bag of chips. Hubby got a bowl of their chicken and wild rice soup with a side of bakery pastry. A scone! Food came and tasted like it always does from Panera: fresh and delicious. Soup was hot and salad was not too soggy with dressing since they put them in small containers on top of the salad. Very nice flavor to the dressing. Hubby's soup came out nice and fresh as well. I went to get two bowls of chicken noodle soup for my sister. I did the same yesterday and came home with mostly broth. I asked to make sure there were plenty of noodles and the two new bowls I received were mostly broth. I then asked if they could add more noodles. The response I got was no. Corporate policy is few noodles and the rest broth but then it is false advertising when the picture of their chicken noodle soup shows noodles to the top of the bowl. I have always loved Panera. This is more about DoorDash. I've ordered many times in the past with no issues but beware. I ordered on 5/30 and watching the in transit come to where I live on for it to say delivered without actually getting my meal. I got a reward (credit) for about the same amount. Okay, thought it was a one-off. Decided to use my credit only to find that all the fees and tip are not included in the $5 minimum so I just decided not to use it this time. Again I watched the in transit come to where I live and again said delivered and did not receive it. This time I got much less as a credit. So do these drivers just scam people for tips and drive by waiting while eating my lunch and keeping a tip? I cannot trust that this won't happen again so I'm going to try to get an actual refund. Horrible. They Really don't have their act together. I ordered a cup of chicken noodle soup and a roll with butter. The soup was lukewarm and the bread was hard as a rock, although it's not meant to be. I went to the counter to complain about the bread and, By the way, no butter. I was told to put the bread in the microwave. REALLY? The bread was so darned old they wanted me to nuke it? A nice man who was a member of the staff who delivered food said he would get me another. He did. When he took the old bread, he said, "This really IS hard". The soup was so bland (and warm) that I went in search for salt. My search was not rewarded. Another woman started to get iced coffee from their machine, but it was very "light" in color. She tasted it and found that it was iced tea. The waitstaff didn't seem to believe her, so the staff person poured some herself and tasted it. Realizing it was indeed, tea, she re-made the contents of the dispenser. Management seems to have been absent from this Panera. The staff needs training, although each one was very polite.
