I'm not sure why I have never tried Newk's, but today was my first visit. It is conveniently located near my office, and the restaurant is clean and well-maintained. The staff were friendly and said hello immediately when we walked in. After ordering at the counter, we found a table and waited for our food. Service was quick and the staff delivering food arrived with a smile. The food is prepared in an open kitchen and it was fresh & delicious. I had 1/2 turkey sandwich and a cup of soup. Boy oh boy, do I love me some Newk's! There's something about their chicken bbq sandwich that I can't resist. It's just too good lol The restaurant itself is quite large so I presume they get rather busy. I've only ate there physically twice and both times it wasn't too busy. Perhaps the most underrated eatery in Austin. Simply put, you must come. 1.) Ambiance The ordering process is easy, and the tables are always clean. Notably the music is at a perfect volume where you can enjoy the song, and still hear the conversation from your friends. I particularly like the washing area for your hands that is not in the bathroom. 2.) service is quite fast, and I have not met an unfriendly employee in the last few years. 3.) The food is consistent and just healthy. I particularly enjoy the Cobb salad(without pecans-nut issue) and the lobster bisque. The perfect balance between dressing and salad can be found here. I took my daughter to Nuke's Eatery in the Great Hills area yesterday, and we had such a great experience. I tried their 3-for-$12.99 deal and also ordered the kids' mac & cheese meal for her, which came with fresh fruit. Everything tasted great--hot items were served hot, and everything was fresh. Our food came out in a reasonable time. Not sure if traffic is increased more on the weekends. The restaurant was clean, nicely decorated for the holidays, and the kitchen area looked spotless. It's also very kid-friendly, which I really appreciate as a mom of a toddler. Overall, it was a very enjoyable visit for both of us, and I'll definitely be back. read more

This Newks Eatery is located in the Arboretum right here in Central Texas. The menu has quite a few options, such as pizza, sandwhiches, soups, and salads. I ordered a large Greek salad, along with a cup of tomato basil soup and an iced tea. The soup had a creamy texture with a slight tomato taste. It wasn't too hot, and since I ordered a large salad, the cup size was just right. My Greek salad was super large with just the right amount of dressing. The veggies were all fresh and crunchy. Both of the dishes were delicious. The next time, I'll get the smaller sized salad. The iced tea was fresh, and it did not have that after tea taste left that comes from unfresh iced teas. The service was excellent from the interactions with the cashier until you get your order. The staff keeps the place clean. The restaurant is laid out nicely with lots of space. It has both indoor and outdoor seating. Parking is shared with many businesses, so timing is everything when trying to find a parking spot. Uber delivery. Took a while, but apparently that was an Uber issue, not a restaurant issue. Three salads and a tomato soup. The soup is delicious, tasted homemade in a good way! I had shrimp salad with arugula and some feta and avocado. Great choice! My wife had the salmon salad and enjoyed it. I decided on soup and salad this time. The potato soup is rich and creamy with just the right amount of bacon. The bacon, BTW, is not soggy or fatty but just the right amount of crispness. The salad was a perfect size for a late dinner with not too much dressing. The sweet tea is not too sweet and goes great with the strawberry cake. I've ordered from NewK's through UberEats enormous times but have never dined in until last night. The times when I did order were often when my husband wasn't in town and the girls demanded Mac and cheese and pizza. It can sometimes be hard to please everyone's wishes so we often take turns ordering but I'm thankful Newk's can fulfill my kids' wishes at once. I was a little clueless on how things work when I walked in but quickly realized we order at the counter and grab an order # to place on our table. There were plenty of indoor seatings when we walked in at 5:30pm. My youngest demanded pimento Mac and cheese, my oldest got margherita pizza, and my husband shared a bowl of tomato basil soup and a half sized Cesar salad. My husband was also happy he could order a bottle of beer here. These are me and my daughters' normal go-to items and I'm glad they know what they like so we can order quickly. My husband was pleasantly surprised by how fresh the food was as this was his first try on Newk's. We enjoyed everything and had a really nice bonding time over our meal. It's a cozy establishment with current holiday decorations. The outdoors dining area seems really nice too so we might choose to dine outside next time. read more

Went to Austin to visit some friends over the weekend and I feel like it's almost a tradition to eat at Newk's at this point when coming back into town. Newk's has such a great environment, it's very relaxed and has lot of windows so that natural light is really nice. We quickly got our order in without much of a wait and the food was brought to our table fairly quickly as well. I highly suggest you get the Mac and cheese if you do go, it's one of our favorites for sure! Newks sandwiches are great, however the last time I ordered a club to-go I got super sick almost immediately upon eating it. I ate half the sandwich and I'm not sure if it was something on it or what, considering my first experience at Newks was completely different. Been visiting Newk's for years since I discovered the eatery while traveling for work in Mississippi! Each dish is prepared fresh and the portions are hearty. There use to be a help-yourself station of cheese, jalapenos, croutons, etc, but that is no longer available as it changed from the pandemic era. You will have to ask and it will still be provided. The packaged breadsticks are still available to grab and it is great to snack on while waiting. This location gets pretty busy during lunch with almost every seat occupied. Parking is plentiful as it is shared with other businesses in the center. Great experience and will definitely be back. Enjoy! read more

We ordered online and when when there to pick it up it was not to be found. The manager was very rude and dismissive with us. She basically said that wasn't her problem or the store. That was on us and when we told her that we were were loyal customers even have the app with points on there currently and that we would not be returning to this location because of her attitude. She said oh well. Is this the kind of customer service that is taught by newks? Is this something that happens in every city or just Austin? We will not be returning after this. We were in this part of town for an event and needed to eat some dinner. We were looking for something quick and had an outdoor patio. This fit that bill. I think a better lunch spot, but we weren't looking for anything heavy. I will say if you have a nut allergy, PLEASE read the menu in detail. I ordered the Cobb salad and one bite in; I knew it had nuts in it. My fault. It is clearly listed on the menu, but I have never had pecans in a Cobb Salad before. I got soup and salad, so I was able to eat my soup and a piece of my husband's pizza. I believe this is a chain or a franchise. You order at a counter and then they bring out your food. This Newk's has become an office favorite amongst my peers. They should be thanking me! We now come here almost 3 times in a 5 day work week LOL. I used to eat at Newk's growing up with my mother in College Station and it was always solid. I consider it a cheaper, elevated Jason's Deli. How can I give this place 5 stars? The staff is so friendly it's nearly overwhelming. Need a recommendation? Someone will definitely tell you their favorite menu item. I love how clean this restaurant is and how the tea is never out and the lemons are always stocked. I saw the restroom today and it smelled nice and was super clean. The Chicken Caesar salad has been my go to but I recently tried a seasonal sandwich called The Royal and the Creole mustard is insanely good. There was generous deli ham and turkey that was crazy, tasty.  This is a hot sandwich, which surprised me, so the lettuce and tomatoes weren't particularly lifelike.  But I enjoyed having the melted cheese on the bread. I guess it's a trade off.  The bread is firm, with a solid crunch. Loved that! Their cole slaw has a mild flavor and was very fresh. On to the strawberry cake: DO NOT ORDER.
