My fam likes Panera Bread, their sandwiches are better than say... SB and DD... but would skip their coffee. We stayed near by to help the college kid move in, and this location is conveniently right by the hotel. Opens early, to accommodate for the hospital staff for sure and it's great. We ordered on the kiosk, it was simple and easy to use. This branch is kept clean and lots of seatings for breakfast (then again, we were there at like 8:30 on a Sunday... ppl are still sleeping). This place is nasty. Garbage on the floor, boxes piled above where food is prepped. We watched a woman who was wearing gloves scratch her head, pick at her armpits to pull her shirt out from them and then go prepare a sandwich with the same gloves. We watched them microwaving bags of Mac n cheese and just dumping it into bowls, saw rolls of bread being laid on counters...it is clear the employees here do not care about cleanliness and food handling rules because there was a lot of standing around and talking and touching things and then touching the food and throwing food around...will NEVER eat here again. My experience was marred by other customers. This Panera was a 4. I like Panera. In front of me is a fogie witch-doctor from the nearby 'Hospital' where all the morbidly obese 'technicians' and 'nurses' come for the daily ritual of pigging-out on and stretching their guts to the max on heavy sandwiches, sugary drinks, coke and cookies, while they tell us to 'be healthy'. This person is complaining about some order 2 weeks ago.. she wants free stuff.. AKA 'free shit'! It took 12 minutes of me standing there, while the staff kept heaping her with drinks, gifts, paper sacks of cookies, donuts, muffins and more sugar bagels than you can count! The nurse then quips: "I served food". Covid's over. Nobody cares - get lost. For sale were only 1) ultra-sweet sugary bagels (which I can't eat) and 2) French bread loafs. I bought a loaf. None of the items, and I mean none, had any prices. So I guessed. And unlike the women in front of me: I paid for my own food. With my French loaf under my arm, I also made a fateful impulse buy of a 'lemon sandie' up front. The little cookie was c25 more expensive than an entire loaf of bread. How does that add up? Panera needs to seriously look into their prices. A cookie should not be nearly 10% more expensive than a loaf of bread! That's price-gouging. Okay? But the lemon cookie, was very good. This is a simple Panera that is located at the bottom of the surgeous pavilion. The location is an amazing pro for the place. Its nice and warm in the winter and it attaches to Surgeon's pavilion for AMC. Some real pros of this place is the fact that there is free wifi there and you can have unlimited refills on coffee/tea/soda. The food there is okay, there is nothing incredible about the food. I usually get the chicken turkey bravo with the bread on the side. Then I usually add on a bowl of turkey chili. This usually will fill me up. Wow, best Panera we've been to in this area, small though it be. It's tucked inside the new medical office building at the ever-expanding U Albany Medical complex, and you can get to it from the street or from the lobby of 50 New Scotland. The service was particularly good, with the order clerk patiently taking orders from our junior members and then bringing everything out to where we sat, which I've never had done at a Panera before. Very happy with the efficiency of this particular Panera Bread. Being located next to a major medical center, I went here for lunch as my training sessions were located across the street. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Although I knew they had ordering kiosks, I chose to go to the cashier as I had forgotten my Rewards card. Consideting the time I went, noon, which seemed to be the peek lunch time, the wait was not that bad. Would definitely recommend them if you are in the area. read more

In the last week in my experiences at Panera I've seen: 1. A line out the door with one poor trainee by himself working the register with managers sticking their head out of the back when he gets overwhelmed enough to ask a question 2. Waited 20 minutes for a bagel, asked for the bagel, and there was no bagel. 3. Ordered a salad online. Gotten there. No salad. Was told "we're out of romaine" when I asked. Were they never going to make it if I hadn't said anything. Last but not least, two veggies were left off the salad and they were "out of salad dressing cups." I don't know what is going on with this place whether it's under new management or they just don't train employees, but the owner should take a look at how this place is being run. read more

When you only have 30 min for lunch and it takes 8 mins to walk each way it sucks when you get to your desk and have no idea what they gave you. This Panera is walking distance from work and it's a large space! Many Albany Med and college students in the area flood this Panera. The service was particularly good, I did the online order for Rapid Pick up, man that was fast. Honor system comes into play. I did mention 12:35 pick up and the receipt had showed my sandwich completed T 12:18pm, so when I got there at exactly that time the sandwich was a bit cold but other than that it was perfect. I like Panera they offer rest sandwiches and salads. A meal can out you over $10 with a drink. I particularly love getting the Frontega chicken panini with Asiago focaccia bread and basil pesto drizzle and peppers and spinach. I think their sandwiches could be a little bit bigger but all in all its a place I don't mind stopping in for lunch. read more

I was craving some onion bistro soup since as of right I can't eat much due to having my wisdom teeth extracted. I decided on Panera bread but decided on delivery since I was told I shouldn't drive since I got my wisdoms remover yesterday. I opened my panera bread app order the onion bistro soup for myself ,broccoli cheddar soup and sandwich for my daughter. It was super easy to use the app.. I paid the delivery fee plus added tip for driver. The app is pretty cool it has a tracking systems as well tell you who your driver is and when food would be delivered. 25 mins after placing order I received email saying my food was on my porch I was so excited. However, NOPE no food was there I became very sad and waited ten minutes more thinking maybe the email was ahead of the driver. Nope still no food I called the store and was told Panera doesn't offer delivery they actually use door dash and was redirected to call them. I called door dash and they stated since I order food from Panera bread app I need to call them back. I was pissed off at this time I called Panera again spoke to the Manager who was really nice and explained to me Yes door dasher did pick my food up and I needed to call door dash back up because they are responsible to give me a refund. I called again spoke to door dash the rep asked me if I would like a refund or a redelivery my silly self said redelivery. She kindly asked me to stay on the line while try to call the driver who that stated the delivered my food and contact Panera to remake food . She was not successful contacting the driver said he didn't answer I guess it because he was enjoying my food. The store she said they were busy and asked if I could call them back... I called back and they answered super quick it actually was the Manager who apologized to me again and remade my food. One hour passing by still NO food I called door dash to ask when my food was coming and the rep did not know smh. I called Panera back they said my food was on the table waiting to be picked up. The manager apologized again and asked if I could kindly come pick up the food. I did just that with a swollen face and all. He threw in some pastries and all. Door dash I'm still wait for them to give my tip and delivery fee back. They sent me an email telling me again I need to contact Panera but WHY their driver is the one that stole my food and got a tip for it. read more

What can I say, I'm a fan of Panera. I know it's not haute cuisine, but it's hearty, tasty and reasonably priced. I've been waiting years for this location to open, and couldn't be happier that it's finally arrived. We got there around 1pm and it was packed. We didn't have a long wait in line and there were still tables available. The staff is a mix of folks from other locations and newbies. The newbies don't really know the menu and had to call a manager to answer an ingredient question, but the girl who took my order (and question) apologized for not knowing and got an answer quickly. One of the nice things about this location is that (for now), instead of a pager to let you know when you can pick up your food, they give you a numbered card to put on your table and bring your food to you. It means that the counter area is a holding area only for people taking their food to go and you can have multiple orders without losing one or another member of your party as they go to retrieve their order. One of the employees, Kizzy, knows my mom and she was happy to see people she knew coming to her new location. She introduced us to the manager, who was very friendly and concerned with making sure everyone in the restaurant was having a good experience. When he saw that my party's food had come, but mine had not (we ordered separately and I was having a hot sandwich - they both had cold sandwiches), he went to the prep area, expedited my sandwich and brought it to me personally. I'm always impressed with that level of service, especially when it's neither requested nor expected. Parking is a major issue, which is unsurprising in that area. Because of the combination of hospital employees, construction and residences, there's never enough parking. If you go to this location, expect that you'll have to park several blocks away. That said, it's a very walkable area, so the few blocks isn't obnoxious at all. I have a good feeling about this location. It seems like the biggest problem they'll face will be the scorn of other nearby food joints as they lose customers to the new kid on the block. read more

I had not been into this Panera since before the renovations. After going there today I do not think I will be going back. Although the service was great my meal was disappointing. I had ordered a small bowl of the Mac and cheese to which is looked like it had been microwaved, the temperature was uneven, it looks gritty and clumpy and I found a hair in it. I couldn't give this place more than 3 stars because it's a chain, but that being said, this is the best Panera in the Albany area in terms of service. They bring your order to the table. It is always quick. You can order online or call and pick up your order, which is convenient. The food is as good as can be expected for Panera. I clearly stated my order at the register and waited on the bench, after 10 minutes of hearing the person preparing the food talk to another employee (runner), joking about STD's and video games and various swear words and then seeing one employee sneeze into his hands and not wash them right away.... my order was WRONG!!! I really enjoyed the food there. Great location near the hospital. Love the atmosphere of the place. They have ordering computers so you can put in your order and pay with a credit card. They assign you a table tracker so they know where they have to serve the food at. The place also has delivery to local places as well as takeout. It's a great and has healthy foods. The food here is fine for what it is, but 8/10 times they mess something up on our order, and it usually isn't a complicated one. They also got rid of the salad bowls and serve the salad on a small plate, which makes eating some of them ridiculous. Came here after class one day when I was sad and it was 100% the right choice! Not only was the food good and comforting, but the staff was great. With that being said. I've been to a few Panera Breads all in the name of bringing my mom something for lunch. I've never been much of a fan. I find the food makes me sick and usually takes forever to get. It doesn't ever help that they are always overcrowded. However, this was the best Panera I've been to. The staff was very friendly, it wasn't overcrowded when we went, and they got our order right. It was also super fast. We had a rather large order for 4 people and not a thing was amiss. I have not been to Panera in a while. My husband and I went for lunch. I paid $12.00 for a ham and fresh mozzarella on ciabatta bread and asked for it to be put in the press. BTW I have ordered this sandwich many times and was quite satisfied. What I got was about 1/2 oz of ham and a bit of cheese on some kind of baguette that had been in the toaster oven a bit too long.
