If you didn't know, Panda Inn is the high end version of Panda Express. They recently renovated this location, so my group was excited to check out. First off, I have to say that I was SO impressed with the ambiance--it was way nicer than I expected. It's a super beautiful space. The vibes make it a great spot for a date night or a fancy celebration (which I saw multiple parties doing, from a retirement party to what looked like to be a more informal wedding party). It was packed here, so I highly recommend making a reservation if you can. We had one and still ended up waiting about 15-20 minutes to be seated. Service was extremely attentive and friendly. Food wise, I would say that it was okay. Everything was enjoyable but I'd say that I was expecting more, and that was with me coming in with expectations of it being Americanized Asian food. Our party of 4 ordered the orange chicken, beef chow fun, honey walnut shrimp, spicy eggplant tofu, and a sushi roll. My favorite item was probably the beef chow fun. Overall, this was a cool spot to check out. I don't know if I'd necessarily come back, but I wouldn't be opposed to it either.

panda inn: fun fact, apparently this location in pasadena was the og location. they remodeled a few yrs ago and the interior is v modern and nice. higher end panda express. the food is alot higher quality. our fav item by far was the smoked duck. perfectly smoky flavor, w crispy skin. the honey walnut shrimp is a classic and cant go wrong. lobster crispy noodles were crispy but not that many lobster pieces. yangzhou shredded tofu was light and flavorful. i was surprised they had sushi on the menu, and the fish is v fresh. the sushi menu is def on the pricey side i would say. overall, would come again. staff were attentive and service was p quick.

The service here is horrible. It was my first time at Panda Inn and I was pretty disappointed. We made a reservation for last Saturday and requested booth seating. We came here to celebrate a birthday which is why we prepared by making a reservation. When we checked in they had us wait for a few minutes and then they led us to a table. I confronted the hostess about the seating request. We were told to wait another 10 minutes and once again led to a table. The hostess were super rude. What's the purpose of making a reservation/ seating request when you don't even look at the information or take it into consideration. After being lied to about making our accommodation which again was requested way ahead of time we sat at table. Once we were seated I noticed one of the booths open up. It was clear to me that these hostess could care less about their customers. They gave the booth to another party. The only person who even gave us a smile was the man who served our drinks. Our waiter seemed annoyed to be there with the kitchen and bar running extra slow and I don't blame him. It took forever to get our drinks. It took forever to get our food. Panda Inn isn't new so I'm not sure why they haven't figured out a good system to not over book or at least hire more staff. The food itself was ok. Yes it's better than the fast food Panda Express but I wasn't blown away. The braised pork was rushed. It wasn't tender at all. It's pretty irritating trying to bite tough meat when you're only provide chopsticks and a fork, no knife. The orange chicken has a good sauce but the texture on some of the pieces was off putting. The green beans were tasty but a little over cooked. The best dish we had was the walnut shrimp. No complaints there. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. My local Chinese fast food restaurant makes food just as good or even better actually. And at least they treat me with kindness.

This place 10000% hits the spot. I'm so happy I finally got to give this place a try. I've been here three times since and everytime I'm left feeling completely satisfied with my order. The space is beautiful. There are also things on the menu that you can only get at this specific location. Some of my favorites included the chargrilled beef short ribs, braised pork belly, and the lo-mein. You also can't go wrong with the walnut shrimp and the panda beef here. You'll wrap up your evening with their complementary white chocolate dipped fortune cookies which is such a great way to wrap up the evening. Would highly recommend this place to anyone!

We had reservations through open table even though they no showed me. It was fixed after contacting open table. We were seated promptly in their beautiful dining area. The service was excellent and efficient. The food was definitely the star of the show. Everyone agreed everything we ordered was phenomenal. We each ordered a different entree and we were all able to share them and still take home leftovers! The beef short ribs were fall off the bone amazing. The A5 Wagyu Carpaccio was incredible we should have each ordered our own. You must try it! I loved the 3 cup chicken entree. It was delicious. I can't wait to go back!

Came for lunch on a Friday. They have a parking structure in the back and the restaurant will validate up to 3H or parking! The place is huge is beautiful. They have nice comfortable seating and lots of lighting. We were seated right away as well! The only grievance is that they don't bother giving you the lunch menu for lunch. You apparently have to ask for it. It kinda irked me but I guess I know for next time. The food we ordered was decent. We got a dungeoness crab salad, upside down noodles, and the panda special for protein. Flavors and presentation were wonderful. I was a little disappointed w my cocktail. The water lily tasted like artificial candy medicine. My partner got the Whisky Jasmine and Honey and was content w it. It was very spirit forward but the jasmine comes through which was nice. Maybe we'll try again some day...

Overall, everything was really good! I went with a large group, so we decided to do family-style dining. We sat on the outdoor patio, but the inside of the restaurant was clean and pretty. Service was good. They were attentive and packed all our dishes to go for us. All the dishes tasted delicious, but the egg drop soup and lettuce wraps were my favorites. I could honestly finish the entire egg drop soup by myself :) that's how much I loved it! The mapo tofu wasn't too spicy and paired perfectly with steamed white rice. The orange chicken and fried rice are always safe options. I didn't try the sushi, but it wasn't a big hit at our table. The only dish that fell short for me was the upside-down chicken crispy noodle...the sauce was pretty bland. This is a great place to come to, and it feels fancier than your average dine-in restaurant.

Lunch date with my mom and she wanted to go to Panda Inn in Pasadena. It's my first time back at the newly renovated Pasadena location. We used to go here all the time before the renovations. Huge difference in ambience, but same good customer service and food quality. They used to have Brunch on Sundays with Mai tais and Mimosas - wish they'd bring that back!! We ordered several things Cucumber salad, chicken lettuce wraps (order more lettuce wraps), the cashew chicken was good, but still prefer their Kung pao chicken. Mongolian beef, upside noodles with chicken, and brown rice. ALL DELICIOUS and portions were great - we had plenty for dinner too. For dessert, we ordered the warm rice pudding with coconut milk and vanilla ice cream. Sooooo good. Great for family lunching - 10 out of 10 for me! Enjoy.

Have been wanting to try this place for so long and I am so glad I finally did for my brother-in-law's birthday! Food: 11/10! Everything we ordered was incredible. From what I remember, we ordered the egg drop soup, green beans, orange chicken, honey walnut shrimp, shrimp fried rice, and mapo tofu. The stand out for me was the honey walnut shrimp and the orange chicken. The flavors were insane! I loved the textures to it as well. Service: 10/10! From the nice ladies in the front to help us to our table, to the actual waitress taking our order and making sure we always had water in our glasses... the service was outstanding! Ambiance: 10/10. Inside was so clean, beautiful, and spacious! Even the outside seating looked beautiful. Overall, this was my first time here but definitely not my last time! Can't wait to come back!

My third visit, mainly to try their mapo tofu. OMG it's the best-tasting version I've had in a long time. Most restaurants either make it Cantonese-style (silken tofu, no Sichuan peppercorn), or Sichuan-style (soft tofu, too much peppercorn). The Panda Inn version is an ideal balance of the two -- soft tofu, mildly tingling peppercorn in a highly aromatic dark brown sauce. Eating it with white rice is mandatory. It reminds me of Iron Chef Chen Kenichi's signature mapo tofu in Tokyo. My compliments to the 'Iron Chef' of Pasadena Panda Inn!

Panda Inn truly did not disappoint! My wife is from Altadena and she would always tell me about Panda Inn and how it's the origin for Panda Express. Last week we were able to bring our family for dinner! My wife order the cooked sushi, sorry I forgot the name of it BUT IT WAS GREAT!! We had Shrimp Lo Mein, Orange Chicken, Shrimp Fried Rice, Beef Fried Rice and it was delicious!! I have a mushroom allergy and they were so nice to ensure they didn't have it in the food. Definitely a 5 star express, thank you all so much for the experience! The building is beautiful and ambiance was great!

Bowls of steamed rice cost $2.50, and we each got one. Portions are generously large and worth the cost; we took leftovers home. The tea offered to us tasted good. The slippery shrimp had a nice crisp with a pleasant blend of sweet, tangy, and spicy flavors. There's a slight spice from the red chili that felt mild on my tongue. This was our first time trying out the dish, and we liked it the most. The orange chicken tasted solid, and it had a slightly crispy texture. For some reason, the rice had an aftertaste I wasn't familiar with, but it was still fresh. There was a fortune cookie at the end of our meal. I'd come back for the slippery shrimp and order something other than the orange chicken. The restaurant opened at 11:30 am, and we were one of the first customers to dine in. The ambience was quiet and relaxed, but they got busier as many more people arrived. Service was good as the staff packed our leftovers in containers for us. Our server asked us where we were from as he was used to seeing regulars during the time we visited. Before we exited, we took some time to see framed photos of celebrities who visited Yang Chow before, including Conan O'Brien and Magic Johnson.

For whatever reason, the quality of the food in Chinatown has deteriorated very badly while Pasadena has improved. The slippery shrimp is always the attraction. The braised string bean is one of the best in town. Fish fillet with wine sauce is always one of my gotos. My only complain about this place is they should use much better quality rice.

Perfect family dim sum experience for us…read more We took out my parents and in-laws for dim sum: my parents' very first time ever. We did wait about an hour, but honestly I didn't mind at all because it gave us a chance to relax, talk, and catch up as a family. Once we were seated, my parents were immediately impressed with the decor: elegant and cultural without feeling overly modern or cold. And can we talk about the tea kettles? They looked like literal pieces of art being poured at the table. Ordering was super easy with the QR code system, so my husband handled the whole spread: shumai dumplings, chicken feet, sesame balls, and more. Everything came out hot, fresh, and beautifully plated. The ENTIRE table agreed on one thing: the chili oil condiment deserves to be sold in bottles to take home. It was that good. Smoky, just the right amount of spicy, and addictive. Now for the real test: my in-laws. They've been to *many* dim sum places and are not easily impressed. They declared this place to have the best chicken feet that they've ever had: meat easily sucked off the bone, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and perfectly seasoned. High praise coming from dim sum veterans. Most importantly, my parents' first dim sum experience couldn't have been better. They loved everything from the ambiance to the food to the overall experience. My husband and I want to come back to explore more of the menu because there's clearly so much more to try

This location is pretty spacious and even has a second floor for dining. Though we were seated inside, a lot of people were coming in and out for take out. They have a QR code to scan the menu and send your order to the kitchen. Unfortunately, they forgot our order of shumai. We had already finished eating before it even came. The waitress was kind but apparently had to bring the receipt back because the staff was claiming we already received it.

The service is consistently great... attentive, efficient, and genuinely welcoming. Fair warning for anyone new to Sichuan cuisine, the dominant flavor is "spicy". That said, the dishes are not just about heat... they're layered, aromatic, and incredibly well-balanced. Every dish I've tried has been outstanding, both in flavor and presentation. If you're a fan of bold, authentic flavors and reliable service, this spot is definitely worth visiting. Tip - If you're new to the cuisine, I strongly recommend getting everything MILD spicy. I've been told by some of my colleagues that MILD spicy is still pretty spicy, so be warned. With that said, strongly recommend the dishes below. Lamb with Cumin 11/10 - My favorite dish here by far. Aromatic, flavorful, and the spices are just on point. Dan Dan Noodles 9/10 - Solid and consistently good. The sauce is properly seasoned and truly compliments the perfectly cooked noodles. Shredded Cabbage with Pork 9/10 - Not to be confused with twice cooked pork. This dish is so simple and bland looking, but it's packed with flavor... so good! Garlic Pork Belly 8/10 - This is a cold dish. The meat was perfectly cooked and properly coated in chili oil. Solid and consistently good. Kung Pao Chicken 8/10 - In my opinion, it's an elevated Kung Pao Chicken. Solid and consistently good.

I like coming here because it is not usually very crowded, and it is possible that it's because the pricing of the food is usually on the higher end. That being said, the food is reasonably good. The seaweed tofu salad has a nice kick to it. The black pepper beef was cooked well and the seasoning was not overwhelming. The crab fried rice tasted good, but the flavor of the crab was not as prominent. The dumpling was solid, but certainly overpriced for five pieces. The Dan Mein with chicken was a solid dish, but probably could get similar dish at the Chinese restaurant in San Gabriel Valley. Parking is easy, on the street or in the parking lot behind the restaurant. You can also park in the parking lot behind the Jamba Juice, which is located south of the Cordova Street. The servers were excellent, very attentive, extremely friendly, and definitely helpful. Would definitely come back, but knowing that it is on the expensive side. For seven dishes, pretty standard ones, it was approximately $150 after including tax and tip. The ambience was definitely immaculate, very clean restaurant, and the food was pretty solid.

Dan Dan noodles were too mushy for me and it was mainly because of the peanut sauce. I thought the sauce was too dense. The black pepper beef was tender and super flavorful. Restroom score 6/10 - could use more TLC. I would take a dump in there if I had to. I would recommend but for small groups. The space is charming and small - not good for large parties IMO.
