Panache Caffe - Large latte - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Lafayette, California

I stumbled upon this place when i was searching for a location to hold a Junior League meeting. I thought the reviews were great, had a great location and offered Internet. The meeting was planned for 630PM so I arrived at just about 6pm to hold some tables. It was busy at all and was VERY cute inside. There was one problem though. The sign said that they closed at 7pm. I was like oh ish....I spoke with the nice lady behind the counter that my understanding was you were open to 9pm based on the times on the Internet. She apologized for the misunderstanding and that they closed at 7pm. I then explained to her that the I had planned a meeting there. She then said she would call the owner to see what she could do. TO my surprise the owner told her to tell us to take as much time as we need. Talk about outstanding customer service. She won me right there. The meeting went smoothly, the coffee tasted GREAT for a really reasonable price and at the end of the night when we were wrapping out the owner came out and told us that we are always welcome there for meetings and if she needs to stay open for us...just give her a call. I was blown away. Not only was she staying open late but offering us to come back and she would stay open again. However I am sure we will organize appropriately next time. I, however will go back on my own to enjoy the tasty coffee in the quiet quaint coffee shop while browsing my Internet. read more

I tried the milk tea with boba once out of desperation because it was the only place close by that sold boba tea. The tea was diluted; an alien must have sucked all the sweetness from my tea because my drink had very little of it left. Overall, a bland experience, at least for boba tea. read more

Disappointed the gift cards I received never seem to work because "the system is down" for my past 7 visits. I must be a slow learner. They seem to forget to turn on the music in this small cafe so we are forced to hear every word spoken. The tables are close and sometimes you just don't want to hear tmi. I don't mind waiting at an independent coffee shop to be served, but lately they are off their game. One of the best coffee shops in town! Their latte is just perfect and all the employees are so nice and sweet. Unlike other coffee shops, it is relatively quiet and I can enjoy my books or be productive. It might not be fashionable but who cares? They won't ruin your precious and limited free time. I had a great experience here. I got a large piña colada frappe and even though they don't usually put whipped cream on the piña colada drinks I asked him if he could put it on my drink and he did! Also, there was some of the drink left over so he poured it into a small cup and gave it to my friend. The drinks were amazing, would definitely come back here again read more

Grading on a curve because it's the only boba place in Lamorinda. I like that they offer almond milk and that they brew their chai tea fresh rather than using syrups or concentrate. It's pricey for a 12 ounce drink, but the people are friendly and it's the only game in town. read more

Cute place! Definitely a good alternative to Peet's if you need some wi-fi in Lafayette. This cafe is bright and spacious, unlike the usual dark tones you'll find in Peet's. The staff is lively and all smiles, and the wi-fi is free and (relatively) stable. Not too many power outlets though... They've got a great variety of consumables here, and I haven't tried much...the coffee was so-so (never tried a cherry mocha, but it was way too sweet and I couldn't taste the espresso) and I had a pretty good Italian chicken turnover (REALLY buttery, but it would have been too dry otherwise, I suppose). They also have gelato, boba, and pastries that may or may not b e worth trying. Anyway, good to know there's a nice cafe hangout in Lafayette in which to do some work or catch up with friends! My boyfriend and I went there to study and there was plenty of room for us to spread out and it was quiet. I have had their lattes several times and they are yummy. They are creative when it comes to the foam--you will know what I mean if you go. They also have boba teas and frappes there. I got the pina colada frappe boba and it was tasty. Everything an upscale coffee would be but at the price of your local Starbucks. The ambience is great, a huge window looking out to Mt Diablo Blvd let's in lots of light. The decor is cheery and comfy. The music smooth and easy. The drinks fantastic and there are parking spots all around. Too bad they don't serve much in food options but 360 Burritos is right next door. They serve Illy coffee here as well as boba drinks. read more

Went to try this coffee shop because of the attractive and great looking matcha green tea latte and some coffee art. While the latte itself was good, there was a lack of coffee art. Perhaps the barista just didn't have the mood for it today, but I kinda wished that they would offer it to all customers, and not just whenever they feel like it. It wasn't busy today either, so not sure why they wouldn't take the extra time to finish off the beverage beautifully. I also tried the blueberry scone, which ended up to be very dry, with texture more like biscuits. On the plus side, there were plenty of seating. If all you want is a good cappuccino, a comfy chair, and a quiet place to read then this is it. Great big picture windows with a couple of cozy armchairs to enjoy your frothy beverage of choice from. The baristas are nice and friendly. They're not a machine like Starbuck nor do they have that snobbish "I make coffee therefore I am" attitude that baristas take on. This place continues to be my absolute favorite! I gave up coffee in January and that was when I discovered their chai lattes!! They are to die for! They make their own homemade blend using fresh herbs and spices. It is so rich and flavorful, I don't think I can ever go back to the powder or liquid mixes. I crave them almost everyday but have to restrain myself. :) The staff here is also still great, super friendly, fast and such consistency in the quality of their drinks! read more

I've been working in the area lately and go here almost every day. Service is always with a smile and they have BOBA!! Their tapioca is always cooked perfectly, chewy, not too dry or to mushy. They don't have a huge amount of flavor options like I'm used to from closer to the Bay, but everything they have is good. My favorites are matcha frappe, honey black milk tea, and mango frappe. I've also had their hot match latte that comes with incredible foam art and they have a nice selection of teas. read more

The lady did put a lot of boba which meant that I didn't get very much tea,so next time I will skip the boba. The price was not too bad either. I've been coming here to work when I need a change of environment for a few years now. I got in the coffee-shop-as-office habit at Brewed Awakening in Berkeley, and Panache is even better in many ways: it's consistent, comfortable, and - unlike BA - very clean. The staff is friendly and they can all make a mean cappuccino. The froth art is amazing too :) PS: someone mentioned a lack of parking; there's actually a hidden lot in the back! read more

As many of you know, in June 2016 Yelp.com placed my account on Reviewer Probation and forcefully removed several of my most controversial restaurant reviews. I will not go into the specific terms of their decision, as this is neither the time nor the place. This is a review of Panache Caffe, a local coffee shop located in my hometown of Lafayette, CA. I will only preface my review by saying that Yelp did what they had to do to maintain their vision of the platform. I begrudgingly respect their decision. When I started writing online reviews, I did so with the understanding that I would make powerful enemies. I just didn't realize how far Yelp's secret police of so-called "community organizers" would go to enforce their pro-corporation view of online reviews. Yelp is not a platform for the truth; it is not a place where the first amendment has any bearing. Following the incident in June, I unofficially resigned from my position as an online Yelp reviewer. This was a difficult decision for me. Uninstalling the Yelp app from my phone was tantamount to uninstalling a part of myself. It was as if I had uninstalled my finger or uninstalled my face. I think we can all agree that something was lost on that day. Were it possible, I would have uninstalled my heart. Perhaps this was the moment when we, as a community of internet reviewers and readers of reviews, lost our innocence. Again, it is not my place to say, this is 100% a review of Panache Caffe, a great place to have a pastry or a delicious bubble tea. Still, I have to agree with the numerous commenters and journalists who privately emailed me saying that my probation marked the end of the Golden Age of Online Reviews. I would like to take this moment to thank you all for your support. It has meant the world to me in a difficult time. Were that your words of support were bubbles in my bubble tea. What a delicious drink that would be. Such a drink would be well worth the price ($3.50 for regular, $4.50 for large). This was a dark period in my life. A philosopher once wrote that "the unexamined life is not worth living" (pp. 37, Socrates, 1987). Since I left Yelp, I have begun to wonder if "the unexamined meal is not worth eating". What is the point of friendly service, affordable prices, and ample parking if you cannot share it with the people you care about most? I have eaten meals since I left Yelp, but I would not say that I have truly "dined out." But at the same time, there was something liberating about returning to life as a non-reviewer. There were fewer highs and lows, but I felt something that I hadn't felt in a long time. Could I call this feeling peace? Let me tell you a story: In the early 2000s, I was just starting out as an online restaurant reviewer. Again, I must stress that this is a review of Panache Caffe, but my anecdote is necessary for me to provide you with context to evaluate my experience as a patron of Panache's East-West fusion of café culture. But anyway, this was early 2002: It was the night before a big review - there was a little mom-and-pop noodle house down the street and the early reviews were mixed. Previous reviewers had seen undeniable talent in the kitchen, but there were doubts about the service and possible health code violations. That night, I knew my review could make or break the noodle house. I couldn't sleep - the fear of assigning this noodle house too many (or too few) stars was overwhelming. Part of me wanted to run away from it all. Live a quiet life, start a family. But in the end, I faced my destiny and assigned the noodle house the fate it deserved, a disappointing 2 stars. What I'm trying to say is that it was a relief to not be responsible. After I left Yelp, I could go out for dinner without being known as the restaurant judge, restaurant jury, and restaurant executioner. The restaurantcutioner, as waiters would call me behind closed doors. I was happy, and I thought that would be enough. But then came Panache. What was it that drew me back in to the life of online reviewing? I cannot say exactly. Perhaps it was the reasonable price point, or the comfortable environment where I could read and set up my laptop. Perhaps it was my mild disappointment at the lack power outlets. No one can say for sure. All I can say is that I stared into my bubble tea and observed the dark orbs of bubbly flavor floating in the shadows. In that moment, I knew my work was not yet done: Nice café, would recommend. Children and dogs unwelcome. Convenient access to two PokéStops, and the baristas often place lures. read more

this cafe is my home away from home. most of Lafayette goes to Starbucks, where the coffee is more expensive and there are less seats. i'm okay with that. I'm here for the free wi-fi. the espresso is pretty good, they also do italian sodas well. clean bathroom, too. this summer they are open late (until 9pm I think) and hardly anyone comes in - great for studying. the only thing about Panache that can be slightly questionable is the choice of music... but the staff is friendly and if you ask for a change they will probably oblige (or at least they have for me). read more

This coffeehouse is unassuming, but the cappuccino is superb. Creamy and full-bodied, replete with espresso 'art' on the surface. Cafe Trieste in SF couldn't do better. I'm a true blue Peet's aficionado, but this little place is on Peet's level, if not one cut above thanks to the artsy trouch with its brews. read more
