    Iced Matcha Latte (supposedly)

The service was fine, we came to get my daughter an iced matcha latte before her long day at school. I waited in the car while my daughter went to order her drink. She came back with what looked like milk so I asked her what she got and she said a matcha latte. I had to check the bottom of the cup...saw a small amount of settled matcha at the bottom. Since we were in a rush to get to school on time, we left. I did take a sip and it tasted exactly the way it looked. It was basically sweetened milk.

I'd like to give Panache 5 stars because the drinks were delicious and beautifully presented, but the scones were a disappointment. We paid for two and they were tiny and thrown on a plate. Maybe they should've just put them on the side of the cup? Otherwise, convenient place to get coffee if you're in Lafayette, plenty of seating. Didn't try the Wi-Fi but others seemed to be working

On the way back, we were sooo thirsty that we needed to stop and get something refreshing. Fortunately we found Lilikoi! I ended up ordering a large POG and literally chugged it within a few minutes. It was tasty and refreshing, but I will admit this was the best drink out of the ones we ordered. They have a strawberry black tea with cream and it honestly tasted really bad and weird. I wasn't impressed with the menu frankly, nothing seemed unique or different. There's also no room to sit inside and it was super hot outside, so we had to resign ourselves to sitting in the shade outside. Overall, I would say it's good in a pinch but there are plenty of other options elsewhere.

The fam and I have been going to Likikoi since they've opened, mostly for convenience purposes…read more Started out amazing, but as we ordered more and more, there's been quite a bit of inconsistency. Will we get good or mediocre drinks today? Will our drinks be accurate or would we need to spend some more time to get our drinks fixed? Always a gamble, but hey, I do love to gamble (usually in a different setting lol). Sometimes the drinks are really good. The ones I've had the most consistencies are their house milk tea and their tropical fruit tea. Recommendation is to order everything as-is since if things (such as sugar level) are adjusted, it's most likely watered down. Luckily the drinks aren't way too sweet, but still a bit sweeter than I'd like, and I'd prefer a bit more tea flavor. My daughter has been big on their Thai tea, but after some inconsistencies with flavor, she's switched to their matcha horchata drink. Pretty good, and they have other kinds of drinks like that too. My son likes the house milk tea with lychee jelly, and the husband enjoys the Oreo drinks here, but they don't taste right in my opinion. I like their house milk tea, jasmine milk tea, tropical fruit tea, and once a while, their ube taro drink. On the safe side, I normally stick with tropical tea and house milk tea at this location. Props to Lilikoi for having some "unique" drinks such as mango almighty (mango smoothie with tajin and chamoy), various horchata drinks, and more. They seem to specialize more in the tropical fruit teas, so highly recommend for those.

And of course, the drinks are delicious. Everything tastes fresh, bright, and really well made. The boba has that perfect texture too, soft with just the right chew, which makes such a difference. You can tell they care about quality :P What really keeps us coming back, though, is the service. I think the owner is usually there, and he is incredibly kind. He always seems to go above and beyond. He's given my daughter a little treat more than once just to make her day, and one time he even helped me carry our baby stroller down the steps even though he absolutely did not have to lol :) Those small moments really stick with you. Great drinks are one thing, but that kind of genuine kindness is what makes a place feel special. It feels a little elevated, a little indulgent, and always like a nice little treat. We love it!!

I have had this before in the Pleasanton area, but it's been quite some time. The location is on a busy street of Walnut Creek, but it is located right across a parking structure. Inside is pretty small to sit, and ordering is via a kiosk. The drink kiosk is further back in the store. Lychee Fruit Tea: I adjusted to 50% sweet and it was still sweet for me. I added sago for texture and it did give it a nice profile overall. The 4 pieces of lychee also gave it added sweetness to my drink. It was chilled nicely and overall, it did brighten up my mood for the day. I think I need to go to 30% sweet and it will be perfect for me. Overall, I can see myself coming back here again.

To be honest though, I only like their pandan boba tea and I occasionally get the mochi donuts for my kids. They're good and I do love coming here when I'm in the area. I think the problem is that I couldn't get past the lack of a restroom in the area. They had some portables, but they are making food and we are supposed to eat it. But because of the cold, I didn't want to eat outside so our food got a cold, but it was good. My husband liked the food he got, but gluten free options are super limited. They get a third star because of the bar! Now there was only one person working there and that's fine because he could go get a snack or something and come back to pour drinks, but again. The restroom issue. Where does he wash his hands, what if he has a cold and sneezes into them, and so on. That's where my mind went. The vendors are quite nice and were helpful and weren't mean when they answered my GF questions and I appreciate that. So, this is like the little engine that could. I can see that it is a gathering spot for people and they have music and speakers which is cool. So I saw and felt a community vibe and people really seemed to like going. If I lived in the area, I may try it a bit more, but in all honestly, Oakland Museum's Off the Grid event is everything I wish this was. I assume it's true because their cup sizing has changed which I'm sadly disappointed. It's more open space/spacious and I had to create a new rewards account. Drink menu names changed slightly on kiosk and on the wall. They don't have that tacky shelf with plush, stuff, Knick knacks, for sale anymore. Drink still good, I don't think recipe has changed. I heard, then seen it for myself, the instagram post and stories shared by friends, of people dancing and partying at the shop late nights after hours. Then when I went in, also still had the sign up that said they did dance concert or hosted DJ nights at the shop. But Im also assuming it was under the old management and they must've got caught something doing something illegal or something they weren't suppose to be doing. The minus one star is for the cup sizing. Bring it back! Main reason why I love coming here, a good price for big cup size. Now it's like every other boba shop. Which is fine, but I won't go out of my way to come get boba here like I used to.

Milk Tea Lab is now under new ownership at this location, and having been visiting this spot quite…read moreoften throughout that time I've become more than familiar with the quality and expectations of this place. This was my first time visiting them again since the ownership change so it's been a minute. What I see here now is just depressing, not just because the place was empty, but it's now devoid of anything that felt like a spot someone would want to hangout at. No music, when I got in there was one person waiting for their food and nobody was even at the front counter for minutes before somebody finally came out from the back. Ordering is just through the kiosk now, which isn't a bad thing. The part that was really rough was the reason why I even came here; the boba. I got a regular milk tea which now they only have a single size. I miss the extra large size they used to have, but oh well. The next issue comes with how much the boba actually costs. They may have gotten rid of the extra large cup sizes, but they're still charging the almost the same amount for it in a much smaller cup. What a deal, right? And we get to the actual drink. When the person making the drink after receiving your order finishes within a minute of making it, it's never a good sign. Why is that? Well, they had premade jug of milk tea ready to pour out for your tasting pleasure. When you have a premade jug of milk tea, it's never a good sign. While I've had them at other places that have done this before, and it's ranged from bad to mediocre, the one here at Milk Tea Lab, now, was in a word, rancid. It was incredibly gross with absolutely no redeeming qualities to it. I generally try not to be so harsh, but this was really not it and I couldn't even finish the boba because of how bad the milk tea was. It's sad to see how big of a dropoff this spot has become compared to what it used to be. This isn't like when they first opened where there were only 2-3 boba spots right next to them. Now there's at least a handful of options within a few minutes away, and dozens of spots within a mile or two, and this is what they're pushing out? It's a shame but this Milk Tea Lab which was their starter store is no longer a place I would ever go back to for boba. It's time is now past with this new ownership.
