I am laughing because I left a review years ago and I must've ordered the same exact thing because I have the same exact pictures again. How is that even possible? SusieCakes always has friendly folks. The Lafayette location was no exception. I am signed up with SusieCakes, but this year I didn't get my birthday cake. I went in and spoke to the lady and she explained that SusieCakes recently changed their policy and it heh now require a purchase to have been made at least 6 months before your birthday to qualify. We were in the Lafayette area recently and craving cupcakes. I remembered we had actually been to SusieCakes about a decade ago and were happy to see they were still around and still highly rated. Got there just before closing and was able to pick up a box of 4 delicious cupcakes. The red velvet and peanut butter ones were my favorites. The store was clean and inviting with friendly employees. They were genuinely appreciative of our business. Parking is a bit tight around the area and the curb right in front of SusieCakes and its neighboring shops is blocked off. I had such an unpleasant experience with this location. I ordered two 6" cakes and 1 dozen cupcakes over 1 week ago knowing that the vintage cakes need to be preordered 48 hours in advance. I set the pick up time at 10:45 AM on the day of my daughter's party and sent a family member to pick it up at 2PM. When she arrived at my house, she only had ONE cake with her. In a panic, I called the bakery and it turns out the vintage cake was still in the kitchen and wasn't boxed up nor were the cupcakes. We live 40 minutes away and I had to send someone else to pick up the remainder of the order! Imagine the stress of coordinating and planning a kids party already! Bought a piece of celebration cake for my daughter. When I got home and opened it for her it's very noticeable that the slicers are very much smaller than they used to be. Stopped by to pick-up a cake on behalf of my cousin for Mother's Day. The process was easy. I wasn't expecting to see that many people in the store, but totally disregarded the fact that it was actually Mother's Day the next day. The wait was not too bad. I was distracted by their pretty in-store display of already made cakes and cupcakes -- while trying to decide which cupcakes I wanted to pick-up myself to give. The guy who helped me was very nice and patient. It was a little hard to hear due to the others that were inside I think, but it was ok. I thought I had ordered 5 cupcakes, but when I got home I had 8. All good, as there were 3 moms around so each got to have a "Mom" cupcake along with a slice of cake! Strawberry rosé = adore the name, the look, and the taste Lemon = didn't try because I know its my mom's fave flavor Red velvet = Mom cupcake Raspberry Vanilla Cake = cute and not too sweet for my palette which was great b/c I was able to eat the entire slice plus the frosting. Easy to find parking in the surrounding area. I parked at a meter, but saw there was also a parking lot around the back. Nice downtown area to walk around on a nice sunny and warm day. The only bad part is that I didn't really have any cell service -- I couldn't really check-in on the Yelp app, nor sign up for their app while I was in store. I don't think this was my first time having SusieCakes, but I don't recall the exact time I've had it in the past. Would recommend any party or special occasion ordering ahead of time. They also have a few party supplies in-store such as candles, decorations, fancy plates, and fancy napkins. Good cupcakes. The cupcakes here are moist and not too sweet. The flavors taste largely natural and you get the sense they use high quality ingredients. I love their carrot cake. But that's it. I've tried their other cakes (lemon, red velvet, marble, old fashion chocolate, coconuts etc..) and cupcakes but none is impressive for the price. Had my mom go pick up some cupcakes that were preordered from Friday to Sunday for my sisters birthday not only were they hostile to her but they did not even get the order right.
