I also ordered their salted butter rice crispy treat which I'm hooked on. It's buttery marshmallow good with a light crunch. The service is pretty quick even when there's a line outside. Staff works the line pretty fast. Ambiance is small with one bench only inside for sitting. Cold water is on table for customers. Parking is all meter parking in front, on the side, and in the back of the center too. We walk here as parking can be hard to find.

There were many to choose from, and I'm so glad I overheard the other customers ahead of us saying that the vanilla salted almond toffee flavor was what they are known for. We ended up getting that flavor as one of our two. For our second flavor of two scoops, we ended up getting the marshmallow neapolitan. -Vanilla salted almond toffee: I can see what the other customers meant for "this is what they're known for." I love that the almond is candied/carmelized with toffee. It gives it a roasty flavor, which gives the flavor so much depth. The almond also gives a bit of crunch/texture, which makes this flavor so unique. -Marshmallow neapolitan: I'm not typically someone who likes marshmallows or goes for neapolitan, as I don't like super sweet and I don't like mixing flavors. You can definitely taste all 3 flavors--vanilla, chocolate, strawberry. The marshmallow doesn't make the ice cream as sweet as I would have thought, it really just adds the marshmallow texture. The ice cream is very thick and creamy. It doesn't melt too fast to meld all the flavors together (which I don't really like), and I really appreciate that the ice cream holds together so well! The gentleman helping us was very patient in letting us try several flavors. The shop had a more old time feel. There is a bench to sit on to eat for a bit, but no tables. Overall, I would totally come back to try their unique flavors!

Receiving a texted coupon for 15% off my order, I was excited to use it since I needed a birthday cake. Though there was an online code, I could not use the discount online. I called the shop several times, but there was no answer, and I even left a voice message but never heard a call back. Finally I noticed there was number on the website to text so I did, and got a response. The response was that it was too late to order the cake, and the coupon couldn't be used online ordering system because the online ordering system was different from what was used in the store. BUT I was told I can still call my order in and pay in advance over the phone to get the 15% discount if I still wanted cupcakes, and if the store didn't answer, the person sending the text said he/she would contact the store. I appreciated that kind gesture. The next morning, I settled for cupcakes and decided to call the order in and pick up the cupcakes in the afternoon since I had no time that morning to go to the store. But lo and behold, I called and again no one answered. I texted the same number from the day before and a response came back that they would contact the store to give me a call. I checked in by calling the store two more times and still no answer. And no one called back that afternoon either. Sadly, I had to give up, but was glad to give business to a way more responsive bakery with delicious cakes.

No changes were noted to the interior -- it's still cozy and relaxing. We ordered a couple of ham and egg breakfast croissants, an iced coffee, and a hot cocoa. The total, with tip, came to about $32. The barista who helped us was friendly, and we were given a placard for our order. Our food was ready in about 10 minutes, and the same barista brought it to our table. The croissants were on the smaller side, served with a side of mixed greens. The taste was pretty good, making it a perfect light breakfast for a cold morning. The iced coffee was fine, though I wish the flavor had a bit more boldness. Overall, this visit was very much in line with my previous ones. I was able to catch up with a friend over decent coffee and food in a comfortable environment. They're favored by many locals for a reason. Keep this place in mind if you're looking for a coffee shop in Walnut Creek. 4 stars.

Since I had thrown out my back this week and desperately needed more support, I moved to one of them. The sign said the table was reserved for up to two hours for customers who ordered food. Great--I had ordered food and had only been sitting there for about an hour. Nope. The same barista who took my order approached me to explain that the table was reserved for customers who ordered food. When I reminded her that I had, she asked what I ordered--as if she hadn't personally rung me up. She then told me I needed to return to the backless barstool. I challenged this because it made absolutely no sense. There were plenty of open tables, I was a paying customer and I was within the posted two-hour limit. She simply repeated that it was the policy. To be clear, the problem isn't that the policy was poorly communicated. The policy should not exist in the first place. Kicking a paying customer out of an empty chair and directing them back to a barstool is a horrible business model that lacks basic respect and hospitality. I left angry, embarrassed and regretting the money I spent here. I will absolutely not be returning.

If you need gluten free, this is your gal! My 31year old daughter asked me to bake her pumpkin cupcakes for her birthday. In the craziness of life, I ran out of time. I happened to find Kristen online. Only giving her 2 day notice, she graciously accepted my order for pumpkin cupcakes with cinnamon vanilla frosting. Best ever!!!!!!!! My daughter was blown away and couldn't believe the were gluten free. Her bestie also has a gluten allergy and LOVED them! We will absolutely use her again and can't wait to try the flavors. Did I mention that they were gorgeous? Kristen even threw in a gold candle and little Happy Birthday topper and sent a picture of them prior to my picking them up! I should also mention that I was extremely impressed with her communication skills-excellent at responding, answering questions promptly and providing information and ideas for storing etc.! Ordered a custom cake for my mom's 65th birthday and had it delivered to her home. I'm located in another state. The cake in and of itself was lovely but what really upped the experience for me was a highly personalized, and pleasantly attentive service from the moment I called where Kristin helped me picked the flavor and the cake frosting and toppings to responding quickly to my follow up emails all the way up to accommodating a delivery date change to actual delivery. I even received a picture of the cake after it was delivered. My mom loved the cake and loved showing off the cake. She didn't even know this bakery existed near their area. What a wonderful treat this was! I ordered a cake for my 4 year old girl and Kristin worked with me all the way to provide the best cake and experience. We decided on a Barbie cake and Kristin was so kind to even go to Target herself to purchase the Barbie. The cake was incredible (see picture) and decadent. I let Kristin recommend the flavors and all of them were spot on. The price was very reasonable and the delivery was impeccable. I cannot recommend this shop enough!!! I did an online search for cupcake delivery for my 10 year old grandson's birthday in the "Time of Covid-19". I found Kristin and SUGAR DOT BAKE SHOP and less than 24 hrs later the goods were delivered. Great service from ease of ordering to delivery confirmation. I came across this pop-up at Epidemic Ales, though you can easily place an order with them on-line for any occasion. My pecan tart was fresh with a flaky shell. For me, the shell of a small tart makes up half of the tart, so it was a plus that it was super duper fresh. The filling was made up equally of fresh nuts but did have a rather prominent taste of alcohol. Some pecan pies contain a bit of alcohol like rum or bourbon. I went on their homepage, and it looks like they also make a Maple Bourbon Pecan Pie. I'm assuming that the tart I got may have been a mini version of that. If you're averse to alcohol in your food, keep this in mind, at least when it comes to their pecan tartlets. Guilty Pleasures makes cupcakes, cakes, pies, cookies and other nicely presented baked goods as well. I spied pre-packaged mixes of mini treats that can be purchased as a nice hostess gift that contained macarons, meringues, and what looked like small pumpkin tarts. I definitely enjoy my sweet treats, but with Guilty Pleasures, it's nice to know that with the smaller bites of desserts I can have them all, minus the guilt...sort of.

I placed a custom sugar cookie order on Sweet Vanilla Bake Shop's website and heard back within 24 hours. We discussed additional design and delivery logistics over email. Miriam is super thorough and was so considerate of my ever-changing requests. I landed on 2 dozen-- 8 sets of 3 custom cookies each. On delivery day, the cookies were delivered promptly within my requested window. She even included extras which I was so grateful for-- they were devoured immediately (so. good.). I assumed that the cookies would be bundled in a simple cellophane bag, but these were individually wrapped and THEN carefully packaged in these adorable boxes. Just above and beyond. Everyone was raving about the cookies that night! My pics don't do these cookies justice :') They're so beautiful and well-made, melts in your mouth and just the right amount of sweet.
