The flavors of this cupcake shop were really unique! I've never seen a hot fudge sundae cupcake before! Also, the pink vanilla cupcake had vanilla bean specks in it, which I've never seen before in a vanilla cupcake, so you know it's quality! The girl who got me the cupcakes even asked if I wanted a label for the gluten-free cupcake, which was really thoughtful! The ambiance was nice, it was clean with a pink and white aesthetic
I love these cupcakes from here ! I had an issue a year ago 2025 & it took two weeks to resolve but I just went for my b-day last week & it was a pre order so that was actually 100 percent better than the last visit . The cupcakes were ready & one was labeled GF - thumbs up & ordered mini cupcakes for friends not GF. It took me a bit to come back so I will be ordering again in the near future. I love the cupcakes here b/c of the GF & they have different options of flavors which they're all pretty tasty . This place is clean & organized & the girls that work here are always nice .
Cute little bakery. Stopped by after picking up some dinner. They have cute little goodies with a good amount of flavors to choose from. They even have a really cute valentines cupcake set. Customer service was okay for the girl working. The cupcakes tried was good but just a bit dry on the cake side. I'll probably try the Danville location next time
Heaven in a cupcake! Wow. Super soft, loaded with flavor, rich goodness without a sugar crash after. Ordered 6 or 7 flavors in a mixed dozen. Everyone, including the 3 yr old, loved them. Young lady was super helpful when I placed my order. She knew the flavors, knew what would be available on the day I was planning for my pickup, and had great suggestions.
The staff was so helpful in helping me organize and design my last-minute gender reveal cake! I originally wanted cupcakes, but a staff member let me know that a 4-inch smash cake would be more cost-effective than custom cupcakes, and she was right! It about half the cost, which was helpful considering we only needed it for a tiny, intimate gender reveal. Even though the cake was small, it was piled high with stunning icing work. I opted for simple flavors, vanilla cake with white vanilla icing. No one was expecting to be wow'ed by a vanilla cake, but the flavors and textures were outstanding! My husband joked that we should order another one to eat at home just because.
I bought these for a friend who loves the cupcakes here. She doesn't live locally anymore so when she's in town I try and pick some up. She loved all the variety of flavors and devoured all of them. These are the best cupcakes in the area.

Long story short I'm not local to the Bay Area anymore and had asked my mom to help me order cupcakes for a friend's bridal shower at Alpine Bakery. Simple flower cupcakes, which they refused to make and were difficult to order with in the first place. I was so frustrated but my mom came to the rescue with this cute little bakery and their delicious cupcakes!! We will definitely be coming back for other events we host. Thank you again.

All of the cupcakes look good and they do have gluten free options. It's a very small place and the staff are friendly and helpful. The place is pretty inviting with all the variety of cupcakes to choose from. You can do special orders for cakes and etc. love to support small businesses.
This is usually my go to for fancy cupcakes for a special occasion. They are always very friendly inside if you wanna just go in and check out their selection. They also do a good job packaging if you order ahead of time. My favorites are their carrot cake, red velvet, and Boston cream pie. But really you can't go wrong with any of them! The cake inside of the cupcake is always soft and moist and for me requires a fork just because I want to savor the goodness. There is a lot of frosting on top, but I think that's what makes it better because I like to have a little bit of frosting with each bite of my cupcake ... some people don't like a lot of frosting so if you don't, you might want to steer clear or just fork some of it off as you're eating. All in all, I think for a special occasion these are a hit!
It's a small shop. We were greeted right when we entered. As we looked in the display case they let us know they were here to help, if we had any questions. Honestly, I couldn't decide. They all looked really good. I went with the Hot Fudge Sundae and the Strawberry Shortcake Sundae. I gave away the strawberry one to a co worker. The hot fudge sundae was very moist and the right amount of sweet. Sorry I started eating before the pic! Side note: we recently went to Sprinkles bakery and Batter 'N Icing was hands down better!
We ordered some custom cupcakes from Batter N Icing for our son's birthday. Ordering was easy online, using their order form. I was able to fill out all the details needed, a theme and also upload inspiration photos. They respond via email and also give you a call - giving you the option to either discuss your ideas different ways. I did end up going in-person (in downtown pleasant hill with plenty of parking in the back lot) and the baker was helpful! She was open to brainstorming ideas and even had a tablet to show different design options. My theme was quite niche but they were able to do the design using inspiration from online. The cupcakes turned out lovely and were a hit at our party!
I would NEVER purchase a cake from here again. Very rude employee had a bad attitude towards me when I told her the cake was poorly done. There was too much frosting and less cake batter. Tasted like the Pilsbury box cake mix. She was very rude to me. I'm sure she would have been more empathetic if I wasn't a person of color.
We ordered a cake for my son's birthday. Design wise it was done really well! He is big time into trucks and he went absolutely nuts when he saw the cake for the first time. The photo alone looks fantastic, but in person we were just in awe. Taste wise it was top notch! The Bavarian cream with chocolate chips combo was incredible. Easily going to be ordering from here again in the future! read more

It was the week of the birthday party and I had no cake plans yet. I did already have some Amazon cake toppers that I had thought would look cute for my daughter's pixie-themed party. I called Batter N Icing on Monday and said the party was on Saturday; if I brought the toppers in, could they make a cake and place them on top for me, please? They said YES! So I washed the toppers and went in and at the counter met Paige, who helped me decide what cake color I wanted (pink) and what frosting color I wanted around the edges (brown), then looked carefully at my cake inspiration photos and used them to label where each topper should go in some instructions to give to the bakers (all at not extra cost). She then helped me order an extra-tall cake, since I had just a few more guests than I thought a normal 8" would feed, and asked if I wanted gold or silver glitter on top (BOTH, of course!). To be honest, I was just relieved that somebody else was able to make the cake. But then, when I returned and they placed it on the counter for me to see, I was BLOWN AWAY! My jaw hit the floor. The placement of everything was not only perfect for a fairy house cake, but the bakers even added little green moss that I hadn't necessarily asked for around the toadstools, for an extra sweet touch!!!! They had also glued one toadstool back together that I had broken when I dropped it on the floor walking into the store, effectively saving me from myself. In other words, Paige and the bakers at Batter N Icing made not only my daughter's dreams, but also this mama's dreams, come true. Finally: I got the cake gluten free with fudge frosting, and ALL the guests loved it (even the ones who eat gluten). So, Batter N Icing, thank you for being reliable, creative, wonderful, and solving all my problems. read more

Celebrated the 16 year old birthday of my wonderful granddaughter with the most delicious and amazing cake I have ever had! Will come back again and again. The entire family loved the cake. I have also tried the cupcakes and they are not to miss. The staff at the bakery are super helpful too. read more

This is my go-to spot for cakes! They never disappoint. I tell them what I want, and they always deliver. The cake is moist, and they don't use that nasty fondant. It's fresh icing only! The cake is usually gone before you can even blink. Their cupcakes are just as amazing. Run, don't walk, to this gem. You can thank me later! read more

Batter 'N Icing has done several cakes for us (birthday cakes, gender reveal cakes, etc.) and not only are they absolutely beautiful, they're soooo good too! They have always been able to create cakes that nearly perfectly match my inspo photos and their turnaround time from ordering to pickup is super fast. They're super intentional with recommendations for your design based on the inspo photos you submit for custom orders and the gals working at the store are so sweet. We use them for all of our events and get compliments every time! read more

Holy cow, these kind folks made my daughter's dream come true! She asked for "purple sparkles with chocolate and strawberries inside"....what?! I could never accomplish that. So I did a quick google search of what that could look like, submitted it to Batter n Icing, and they called back immediately saying they could do it!! It turned out more beautiful than I could imagine, and it was honestly SO tasty too! My daughter (who is 4) says her cake was the best part of the party! read more

We got to try Batter N Icing at a Yelp event a while back and finally got to stop by the brick and mortar. It's located in downtown Pleasant Hill with parking in front and a lot in the back. They have a menu of seasonal flavors that change daily along with the regular flavors served every day. We got a box of 6 for $24 and they were so delicious. The cake was fluffy and the frosting wasn't overly sweet. My favorite was the chocolate vanilla and my partner's was the cookies n cream. All the flavors were really good! read more

Although yesterday (08/31/2024) was my first visit to the Pleasant Hill location, I've enjoyed treats from the Danville location for ~3 years back when they were Smallcakes. We would get the mini cupcakes for birthdays at my old job. I saw a post from Batter 'N Icing on Nextdoor announcing the last day for the August specials. These included two of my favorite flavors, ube and Boston cream pie. Fortunately, I live 6 mins away so I was able to make a quick trip ~10 mins prior to closing. I really liked the Boston cream pie. It wasn't overly sweet and all of the flavors - chocolate, custard, and yellow cake - were nicely balanced. While I liked the cake portion of the ube cupcake, the frosting was way too sweet. I could barely taste the ube in the frosting and felt like I was just eating pure sugar that was purple. I ended up scraping off the frosting and just eating the cake portion. My friend got the ube cupcake a few hours before I went and she said the same about the frosting! The woman working at the store was friendly and efficient, even though I came close to closing time. Surprisingly, I was the only person in the store. I would have thought it would be crowded given the downtown location on a Saturday night. Parking was easy as there were plenty of spots. They have doggie cupcakes, which I plan to get for my mom's dog's birthday this month. Hopefully the dog will give four paws up for the pupcakes. one of my friends wants to get pupcakes for her dog's birthday next month. Yesterday was my first time trying the regular sized cupcakes so I don't know if heavy frosting is the norm. I didn't see mini options for the specials on their website. If they bring ube back, I hope that 1) they'd make the frosting less sweet with more ube flavor and 2) offer a mini size. I'd come back for the Boston cream pie, as well as their regular flavors (love their birthday cake and Oreo) and other special flavors. read more
The minute you walk in the door you are hit with an assortment of delicious cupcakes! The store is super cute and very small and has a lot of options of cupcakes! There were to women working and super sweet and knowledgeable about each of the cupcakes. The service is pretty fast and didn't have to wait for anyone. I got a few different types, what I believe is Oreo and what tasted like a delicious cinnamon roll with a hint of carrot cake! The weight of each cupcake is pretty heavy.. these are not your Safeway dozen cupcakes. The cupcakes are on the sweeter side so you would probably want to share. If you are around Pleasant Hill Downtown; definitely hit this place up me grab a delicious cupcake!! ENJOY! read more

The BEST chocolate cake! I've had a custom cake from here, chocolate and raspberry filling so good!!! And my favorite cupcake is the Caramel Crunch!!! So yummy moist choc cake with a salted caramel frosting. I have been a customer here since they have opened and have ALWAYS been greeted with a welcoming attitude from the staff, so helpful whether I'm buying a few cupcakes or a custom cake! We wanted to try this new place out and decided to go. It's a small shop on a busy street. There's a huge parking lot behind and some parking in front. This is a grab and go spot there's no tables or chairs. They had a good selection of cupcakes and the decor is very pretty. The cupcakes were very good you can tell they definitely use great ingredients. My kids loved it and we will definitely be going back. read more

I stopped by with a group of friends to order cupcakes. I had the red velvet cupcake and it was no good at all. While the cake itself was moist, the batter was overly sweet and the frosting was horrible. You really cannot mess up cream cheese frosting when it comes to red velvet or carrot cakes. That's like the basis of it. The frosting lacked cream cheese (probably didn't have any in it) and was overly sweet. The whole thing just tasted very odd and overall way too sweet. I'm so glad I finally got around to trying my neighborhood Batter 'N Icing bakery. It is now my children's favorite place for cupcakes and cakes! Although their cupcakes are a little pricier than your run-of-the-mill cupcakes, it is definitely worth it. Not only are the cakes super moist with an ample amount of delicious frosting but there are also a TON of creative flavors combinations and options. This time, we just got a small sampling box of 3 flavors: Boston Cream, Red Velvet, and Ice Cream Sunday with the cherry on top! My favorite was the Boston Cream which has the delicious cream filling in the center that is lighter than the frosting. My kids really liked the red velvet option. Also, the woman helping us out was super friendly. We will definitely come back for more! read more

This bakery ruined the gender reveal of my first baby, what was supposed to be one of the most special moments of my life. I emailed the manger and made sure we were on the same page and my request was doable... sending pictures of exactly what I wanted the inside and outside of the cake to look like. I made sure to explain myself very clear in person in the store and they took the gender envelope from my doctor. I had my gender results several days before in my portal, but I waited to look because I wanted this moment to be special instead of just looking at my phone. It took forever to get my OB to print the envelope but I finally got it and took it straight to the bakery. They told me the cake would be white on the outside and vanilla with the gender color frosting inside. When my husband and I cut into it, it was funfetti cake (rainbow color) with white frosting only on the inside and outside. They remade my cake the next day but my husband was on call and there was a chance we couldn't cut into it for another week, so we just looked at the envelope ourselves. Thank you for taking this moment away from me. I had my wedding cupcakes done here too and will never spend another dollar at this company. Truly the worst mistake they could have made. Every time I think about my gender reveal I get sad. read more
