Under The Sea themed cake
Saramarie H.

Kelly is so incredibly talented! She made a cake for our "under the sea" themed baby shower and I have nothing but praise. From the first time I reached out to her she was super communicative and professional. She made the cake exactly as I wanted and even accommodated a last minute request. Not only was the cake beautiful but it tasted great too! We received so many compliments on our cake and I would 100% recommend her business to anyone looking for a cake for a special occasion!

Such a cute shop! It's cozy inside, but I loved looking at all of the cool swag they have, and…read moreeverything is so easy to find. They also sell their beans, which was a nice surprise! We ended up with those and a few stickers before ordering a brown sugar cinnamon latte (on recommendation from the barista) and a giant mint chocolate chip cookie. The cookie was really big. A bit on the drier side, but I loved the flavor. Not too sweet, and the mint was just right. The latte was really good. Perfect temperature, and just the right amount of sweetness. Very good espresso taste came through the foam. Perfect little treat on a cold and rainy day! Service is really fast and friendly. I'll be back!

Since we've been boycotting a certain coffee establishment with the mermaid logo, and our once coffee spot that is now owned by a private equity firm, we wanted to go to a locally-owned coffee shop and support them instead. My friend, who also happens to live in Martinez, found this spot on Yelp and we all drove here. We arrived there with a couple of hours to spare before they closed. It's a small, charming and quaint coffee shop with plenty to offer like baked goods and pastries. The young lady working at the counter was friendly, accommodating and provided us with answers to our questions and explained their menu. My Martinez friend mentioned that he wasn't aware this place even existed and that his kids went to school just a couple blocks away. They've been in business for 13 years, and she actually graduated from the same school that his kids went to. I ordered an Iced Pistachio Latte (not too sweet), while my friends ordered a hot drink (regular latte, I believe) and another iced drink. And yes, one can ask to customize the sweetness level to your preference. We also got a slice of Pistachio Nutella Coffee Cake and a Strawberry Coffee Cake. Coffee is good (that's all we can ask for) and she gave us a generous portion of the coffee cake since there was three of us to share the cake with. My friend said he would definitely return again since he knew this place existed and continue to support local businesses.

4++ Farmers market that pops up in the Downtown Martinez area on Sundays I believe…read more While the market isn't huge, there's a really good selection of produce purveyors along with some eateries, some bakeries, and some general vendors. This farmers market as a small town charm to it and every person I interacted with was friendly. I was in the area because I crashed at a buddy's house the night before. When I was leaving the area, I saw this place and wanted to check it out. Keep in mind it was around the holidays and it was drizzling a bit that Sunday, so I'm not sure if it affected the amount of vendors present as this was my first time visiting. I ended up getting some enchiladas to go from one of the vendors selling Mexican food and a loaf of quinoa bread from one of the bakers (West Won Bread out of Napa). The food was good and the quinoa loaf was amazing and enjoyed by my parents and I later on when we served with some stew. Would love to re-visit with better weather conditions and different parts of the year. But definitely an enjoyable market based on my first visit.

Super location with enough different items to serve everyone. I highly recommend coming here on Sunday mornings from 9-1. Don't forget to stop at at House of Petals the brick n mortar flower shop. The problem was the customer behavior. On New Years day I was the only person seated in the café when two women came in and chose to sit within 2 feet of me, despite many other tables being completely open. While sitting that close, they openly discussed how sick they were. In a shared public space, this shows a lack of situational awareness and basic courtesy toward others. Earlier, I eventually had to ask another customer to take her dog outside, as it was barking nonstop and she made no attempt to quiet it or remove the dog, seemingly unaware that this was inappropriate for a restaurant setting. The overall atmosphere made it uncomfortable enough that I left early. Public spaces rely on people observing basic societal norms of consideration, and unfortunately that wasn't present during my visit. The café and staff were fine. The customer environment was not. I'm honestly shocked at how much my outlook has changed over the last four years. I feel like I've done a complete 360, and at this point I'm just looking for some semblance of the basic consideration and social norms that used to feel standard in this country. I will continue voting accordingly.
