Today, we picked up a princess cake for grandma's birthday. It is a very specific cake, but the woman knows what she likes. While we were in the bakery, we also picked up a strawberry cupcake, a strawberry macaron, and a Napoleon. The strawberry macaron had the perfect crunch to it on the outside and the inside the texture was just right, and it was very flavorful. The cream between the macaron shells had sweet little explosions of strawberry flavor, like the strawberries were dried, and then added to the cream without being chewy. It was very interesting and my son loved. The star of the show was a princess cake. My MIL loves princess cakes and she noted that this one was exceptionally moist and delicious which is perfect. I have always wanted to try this cute little cake shop because I heard that they had princess cakes. Not only do they have princess cakes, but they have princess cake slices! When I went in the shop, it is so cute and the service is so nice! It said they were hiring and it made me wanna work there! Everything looks so good but let's get to the taste. I bought a slice of the green princess cake with the raspberry filling because that is classic. It was absolutely delicious! so yummy ! so perfectly made! I can't wait to go back and try the orange princess cake with an apricot filling! I've never heard of that. I don't think we do that in Sweden, but I've never met a princess cake that I didn't like and I love apricot filling so I'm excited to try it. I also love that the parking was easy. Small, but mighty bakery with limited parking. I came here intrigued by their raving reviews for Swedish Princess Cake. They had two tables inside, but it seemed like a lot of their customers were doing takeout orders. They also don't have restrooms. We shared a slice of the princess cake, tiramisu, and the raspberry crumble. I asked if the raspberry crumble slice can be slightly heated since it was rock hard to grab piece it, but I guess that's not how you're supposed to eat it because they clearly don't do that haha. The tiramisu was everyone's favorite. The princess cake was good, just not as good as the one from SF. I think it was the ratio of the layers that was a miss for me. I sampled some petit fours, macarons and cupcakes and everything was ok but the cake was a little dry for my taste and the petit fours had a thick coating, almost as if they had been frozen. They were not delicate and fresh tasting as I had hoped. We did enjoy our macarons and the girl who helped us was nice but when I asked for a restroom she said they did not have one for public use. Most establishments make a restroom available for paying customers at eateries so I was disappointed but overall I probably would not return here anyway. Even though this business is great for wedding, birthdays, celebrations etc. cakes, they also have walk-in slices, cupcakes, cookies and pastries. Please note if ordering a cake, they ask for at least 48hrs. notice and they don't have every flavor by the slice for walk-ins. This place made my wedding cake and my in-laws' silver anniversary. We loved our wedding cake which was half apricot princess and the other lemon blueberry. I also enjoyed my in-laws' cake which was their Swedish Princess. When preparing for my wedding we were able to sample almost all of their cakes. I've been ordering here for the last 7 years, from wedding cakes to birthday cakes. I placed an order two days ago for a pink princess cake. Today, I went to pick it up, and it was a green cake with pink writing. So I told them that's not what I paid for. She responded by showing me the order slip: "Pink cake," "Happy birthday." Then she said the pink cake would be an extra charge and wouldn't be ready for another 4 hours. I told them I had to go to work and couldn't pick it up later. At no point did they try to make things right for their mistake; they were more concerned about charging extra. Normally, I don't write bad reviews, but this is the second wrong order in the last three years. I will dispute this charge and find a different place. I was so pleased with my wedding cake from them! First of all, they came highly recommended by my wedding venue. However, to be honest, I was thinking of using another pastry shop and reached out to several others as well. Most of them either required me to schedule to come and get samples on days and hours that weren't convenient for me or they weren't available for my wedding date. However, Le Gateau Elegant was not only available for my wedding date but I was able to pickup up samples from them at a convenient date/time. What sealed the deal for me, however, was when I came to pickup the samples. Not only was the sample box huge, but it was free!! I couldn't believe it, as most of the places, including the one that I had thought of using, were charging for just a few samples and it wasn't a small fee either. I then tasted the samples and I was sold! I ended up choosing the Swedish Princess cake, which I believe is one of their most popular flavors, but they were really all good so it was hard to decide! They were also very accommodating when I asked them to use buttercream instead of what they usually use for it which contains almond paste, I believe, as one of my guests has a severe nut allergy and I didn't want want to take any chances. Best of all, I showed them a picture of the cake design that I wanted and they made it exactly the way I wanted it. I recommend using this place for any special occasion, but especially weddings!
