Mistakes happen. What really made the experience unpleasant was the attitude and complete lack of effort to correct the mistake. When you're dining with a group, you expect basic courtesy and service, not to feel like you're inconveniencing the staff by sitting together. Unfortunately, the food wasn't enough to overcome the service experience. The attitude was the most memorable part of the meal.

It was dry, stringy, chewy, and tasted incredibly cheap. There was absolutely nothing fresh or high quality about it. The portions were tiny, the quality was poor, and the prices were completely disconnected from reality. My husband was born and raised in France, and we've spent plenty of time eating at cafés and bakeries there. This isn't even remotely comparable. It's an overpriced imitation that relies on the idea of being French instead of delivering food that's actually worth eating. If you're going to charge premium prices, then deliver premium quality, proper food safety, and an experience that justifies it. This place failed on every one of those fronts.
