This place is cute and classy, with boba tea too. Their flavors are not ones I order often (I prefer mango, litchi, Earl grey, lavender, etc.) I haven't tried their other coffee drinks yet, but I plan on doing so to make this review more complete. It certainly is cheaper than Starbucks or Peet's, and a lot cleanlier and nicer than most chains as well. Don't go in here just for boba. From the other pictures I have seen, it looks like their coffees are pretty cool, and their boba is getting all of the negative attention. Cute little coffe shop on the edge of Lafayette. Serving up classic cups of coffee, tea and boba teas, should your heart desire. It's not in the midst of town, so it's quieter and has a calm relaxing vibe compared to most of the other spots in town. There's art on the wall as you come in from a local artist and an assortment of goodies to buy. I had a chai latte and a blueberry scone. My latte was artless but it was delicious. I have to admit that I was hoping for some of the pretty artistry I saw in the photos. She warmed the blueberry scone a bit. It was dense and just the right amount of sweetness. Yes, Eek! This is totally a Methinks not! It was 100 degrees that day. My coworkers were working long hours at a country club in Alamo. My asian instincts wanted boba, my coworkers also wanted boba. We drove there to get the most diluted boba, even without the ice. I was watching the barista making the milk tea... OMG. I believed it was just an ordinary tea bag (so the tea was hot), then added with the ice. By this time the hot tea have already melted the ice. Tea is diluted. All she added next was the 2% milk. I ordered three milk teas for my family and I, we all agreed the milk teas were amazing and had a great taste to it. However, what really got me was the customer service. Panache Caffe is a solid local place to get coffee, teas, and bubble teas. I have been going to Panache Caffe for coffee or a latte since it originally opened. I always thought the coffee was excellent. The pastries are good, but the selection is limited. I like that this is a friendly place, but not overly busy. It is very comfortable to spend time there with company or when you're there by yourself. Recently, I have been craving milk teas with boba. It is nice to have a place nearby serving the milk teas. Panache Caffe makes a good milk tea. I prefer Bobaloca in Concord or Mr. Green Bubble in Oakland for a milk tea, but the milk teas here are good and I am happy that I can get them so close by. There is a small parking lot off to the side and a larger parking lot in the back, which makes it convenient. I am really glad we have a local coffee/team place here in Lafayette. read more

It's a super cute cafe, and the jasmine green tea was delicious BUT...the tile mosaic wall was messing with my brain! Of course the President was sitting on the bench side so I had to look at this tile wall non-stop. Seriously, it reminds me of those crazy pictures that were popular in the 90's...you know the ones that if you stared at it long enough a picture of something would appear. I don't know what it was about this wall, it's just a tile wall, but it's little tiles all varying shades of white/cream and for whatever reason, my brain just couldn't process it. I'm a coffee-aholic and I get bored of going to the same place everyday so I like to switch it up. I've lived in Lafayette for 6 years and I have never tried this place so this morning I thought, "Why not?" I heard this place was known for the their decorative designs in the foam, so when I got not even a leaf I was mildly disappointed. My triple vanilla latte, while good is one of the most expensive in Lafayette ringing in at $4:30 and that's with my own cup discount. Yes I liked the espresso but because of the expensive price I would not come here everyday. I don't know how much the regular coffee is, but I did notice they use Illy. The place is kinda cute, quiet and even though its small there is plant of seating. I give this place 3.5 stars knocking off a half star because of the price. read more

So I'm from Asia Town SGV in L.A and I've been trying to find a decent boba place in the East Bay. I went on yelp and this is what I found. I gave it a try. I ordered a boba milk tea. It was not good. The tea was watered down and whatever milk they used was :( . The boba's texture was weird too. The outside was too soft while in the inside was hard. As if the boba wasn't fully cooked or was leftovers from the day before. Of course I wouldn't expect this place to be comparable to those asian boba shops in L.A. but at least decent. The boba was not decent. I don't drink coffee so maybe the coffee might be better than their milk teas. I would not go again. The setting is cute though! And the service was nice. read more

On Wednesday I took Bart into the city for a seminar, and timed my return to perfectly coincide with some kind of track blockage up the line at 24th. I took the next train out of Embarc to wait at West Oakland, where at least I could be outside. 20 minutes pass. 30 minutes pass. Nonsensical announcements are played. Finally, a Pittsburg Bay Point train packed to near explosion comes along and I wedge myself in. 20 minutes of awfulness pass and then the driver dumps us all off in Orinda, simply saing the train is out of service. By now I'm hot, sweaty annoyed and have been gone long enough to warrant staying at work till 8 pm. I consider taking a cab, but think the next one will come any minute. Eventually it did, and I walked , relieved, back to work. I was about to pass Panache, when a little sign on the window caught my eye. Gelato! Mi amore, fantastico! If there was ever a day I deserved it, it was today where I waited in 95+ degree heat for 2 hours just to come back to work. It cost $3 for a small, but it was worth every penny. I like Panache quite a bit. I work down the street from here and it always ends up being my sanctuary on my breaks. Staff is always very friendly, coffee is great. Great little coffee and tea shop. My fiancée and I found this place (on Yelp! Surprise.) after the Lafayette Library closed on a Friday and we needed a little more caffeine and a little more study time. The people at the register were beyond friendly, explaining the different backgrounds behind two green teas, smiling, and just genuinely conversating (yes, that's a word, autocorrect!) with us while ringing us up. Nice clean tables to set up our laptops. Check. Free wifi (with a little sign that has the password - I hate when places are stingy with that). Check. Elevator/ spa music in the background to focus. Check. Everything I like in a little study nook. Wish I could give 'em a 6th star for the cool chocolate and honey products they also had for sale.
