For our meal, we shared the combination steak and chicken fajitas for two between the three of us, and there was MORE than enough food! Returned to Paloma Suerte after loving it on my last trip to DFW, and while I still had a great time overall, I was a little disappointed to find this experience wasn't quite as superb as my first. The service was still good, but our requested modification to the queso was forgotten the first time they brought it out, and the marg was good, but not my favorite flavor! The queso still tasted awesome. We ordered the Birria tacos again, and I'm sorry to say that they were very greasy this time around. I know these are always a more moist taco, but the last time I had them here they had great crisp, and this time they were soggy with grease to the point where I had to eat them with a fork and knife. The little details like serving the frozen margs with a koozie weren't present, though the ambiance was nice as always. We ordered chips and guac to start which was good. I didn't feel like they had a ton of vegetarian / fish options on the menu so keep that in mind. I would've loved if they had shrimp tacos. The shrimp fajitas were good but they were very small for how expensive they were. They also came with the regular fajitas toppings + tortillas! My daughter and I had a fantastic experience at Paloma Suerte in the Stockyards! As soon as we sat down, they brought out a complimentary basket of chips and salsa, which was a great start to the meal. We ordered the chicharrón, birria, and carne asada, and every dish was outstanding. The flavors were authentic, the portions were generous, and nothing disappointed. I even enjoyed a Diet Coke with my meal. What really stood out was the service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made us feel welcome from start to finish. They earned every bit of the 25% tip I left. Our total bill, including tax, was $73 for all the food and drinks, which I felt was a great value considering the quality and service. The only downside wasn't the restaurant's fault the parking in the Stockyards is expensive. I paid $26, and that seemed to be the going rate throughout the area. I almost made the mistake of filling myself up with it before the main course. I had the Grilled Elk Loin Fajitas. For some reason mine was the only the only item that came out with the Mexican Flag decoration. I thought the meat was flavorful and tender. I would order it again. The atmosphere at Paloma Suerte is fantastic. The Mrs. and I sat on the patio on a perfect day and really enjoyed it. The salsa and bean dip was solid but the guacamole particularly hit the spot today. I had the cheddar cheese and charred onion enchiladas and they were very good. Chips and salsa were brought to the table and they brought multiple baskets and bowls out so people didn't have to reach far at all. The other end of the table ordered guacamole, but I didn't get any. Apparently it was very tasty. We all ordered drinks and I got the Suicide Schooner. Our server was very polite, albeit slow and seemingly disorganized. Still, the service was OK. I tend to judge Tex-Mex joints on their salsa. This stuff was served cold (which is a requirement for me). It had very little spice and might've been a little on the tart side, but it was decent. I asked for picosa to spice it up, and all they had was a Louisiana-style hot sauce. Oh well. The queso here is among the best I've ever tasted. Indeed, it was obviously Velveeta a Ro-Tel, but they also added chunks of avocado. Divine. The chips were freshly fried and a little greasy, but that's not unusual. I'm a cheese enchilada guy, but my brother in-law recommended the prime beef enchiladas. They were different in a wonderful way ... shredded beef on the inside with a chili con carne and queso topping that is reminiscent of the Texas red I grew up on. If I could change anything about this joint, the salsa would have some spice, and the food would be a little less on the greasy side. Also, the dude who was working as the host (a short chubby guy) might consider smiling once in a while. Stopped here at 10.30 on Saturday night as it was close to our hotel. I was a little unsure about eating here as it had potential to be a bit of a tourist trap and my suspicion was entirely correct. The space is large and we were sat quickly and ordered some drinks. I went with the Paloma and unfortunately this wasn't a great choice (it just didn't taste quite right but I am not sure why). We ordered the BBQ Shrimp and Chicharrons to start and then ordered the duck and goat birria tacos. We waited quite a long time for our starters to arrive and when they did they brought all of our food together, including the tacos. We commented that we had wanted the tacos to follow and the waiter acknowledged that this should have been what happened and walked away. The chicharrons were good but this is where the positive food review ends. The BBQ shrimp was cold and the birria was oily/greasy and just generally very sloppy. The consommé itself tasted like it was made from a stock cube and lacked any flavour. There was no seasoning to the consommé and when I have had it in the past it has had herbs and pieces of meat in there, none of which this one had. We ate one taco each and left the rest. We spent about 15 minutes trying to get a waiter to tell them that there was a problem with the food. When we did eventually flag him down he said he would get his manager. We did speak with the manager and when I explained the issues with the birria he told me that this is how it was supposed to be. I have had birria many times and we have never had anything this oily with such a complete lack of flavour. He continued to insist that this was how it should be, and that I was wrong, which was just a strange way to deal with a complaint on food. He offered us some churros on the house but I said we didn't want any more food there and could we please just grab the check. They did kindly remove all of the food from our bill without us even asking/mentioning that, which we did appreciate and is why I give them 2 stars as opposed to 1. The service was extremely slow. Two tables around us were seated after us but had their order taken long before us, and ended up getting their bill and leaving just after we got our food. We had to ask for our waiter every time after being seated. We had to ask a bus boy to find our waiter after waiting 30 minutes to order. Then we had to go to the front to ask for our waiter and the bill. The water wasn't refilled until we asked. The table next to us ordered guacamole and never got it. As we were leaving it looked like our waiter had all inside tables except for us, which seems like poor management. The Migas off the brunch menu was 80% soggy shredded tortilla, half of one scrambled egg, and hardly any potato. The corn tortillas on the breakfast tacos were plain, chewy, and just not very good. The other dishes were just overpriced with not enough food. Also the salsa was ok but bland. The only thing I liked about it was that the patio and outdoor space was a nice area. However, the outside seating was tiny patio chairs that are extremely uncomfortable. It's like they're not adult chairs, because they weren't fitting people's hips. It's located in the Stockyards, and we really loved this place. We have had our fair share of Birria Tacos and this tops them all so far! This spot gets packed at night since it's in the Stockyards so I would recommend big parties to call and reserve. They only seat you when 50% or more of your party is there. Music is kind of loud in there, probably the only down side. The beef fajitas were sooooo delicious! The meat was tender and it came out so fresh.
