Stopped by Joe T. Garcia's for a quick lunch on my way to a conference and it ended up feeling like a mini escape. The outdoor seating is so charming lush plants, colorful flowers, and a peaceful fountain that makes you want to stay awhile. I had the chicken fajita bowl, and it was fresh, flavorful, and hit the spot. The margaritas were definitely tempting but I behaved and stuck with water... next time for sure. We were recently in Ft Worth and decided to give Joe T Garcia's a try. We had been about 15 years ago and were not impressed then. But we always hear people talk about how great Joe T's is so we thought maybe we just an isolated bad experience 15 years ago. But this time, it was even worse. Maybe people don't speak unfavorably out of fear of being shamed for not praising this "institution"? We arrived on a Wednesday at 5:30 so fortunately our unpleasant experience was not further worsened with a wait. The patio is still very beautiful and umbrellas were positioned to provide ample shade. But the fly situation was very annoying and could probably be helped with the spinning devices on tables or fans spread throughout the patios. The beauty of the patio doesn't compensate enough to endure the flies. The service started out good with waters, chips/salsa brought instantly. But within 15 minutes the service rapidly declined as more customers were seated. It was very tedious to the point of annoying to get refills on our drinks. Literally within 2-3 minutes of ordering we asked our waitress to switch one of the fajita orders from chicken to beef. She initially said "oh I'm sorry but I JUST put the order in". We looked puzzled and said "ok then it shouldn't be a problem changing it?" She went on to explain that she would add the beef to our table and just switch the chicken order to another table next to us who ordered chicken that she had not put in yet. All of that sounded very bizarre but the food was correct when it was delivered our table. At the time the plates were brought we requested a side of sour cream but it didn't come. After 5-10 minutes we spotted our server and requested it from her. But we still never got the sour cream. As I was paying the tab my daughter noticed that we were charged for an extra chicken fajita. So even though the server got the beef fajita added right after we ordered, she didn't take the chicken off the bill. She adjusted it once we pointed out the error. The food was the biggest disappointment out of all of it. I will always give grace to sub par service or atmosphere if the food is great. I say this with the utmost sincerity, I've had more flavorful beef and chicken at Chipotle. The chicken was so dry and served in big chunks which made it even tougher to chew. I seriously could not detect a hint of any seasoning, not even salt. It was very hot but not like the traditional sizzling fajita hot, more like it had been sitting in a heating pan or under heat lamps. For way too long. The beef was a tad bit easier to chew than the chicken but just as bland. The queso that we ordered tasted like canned cheese sauce watered down with chicken or vegetable broth and a tablespoon of pico added. The portion sizes of the entrees, the tortillas, the pico, the guacamole were all very generous. It's just a shame that it doesn't taste good. read more

Eating inside is technically a shorter wait, but still takes forever. As a party of two, we waited about 45 minutes just to get inside, and the outdoor wait looked even worse because of the extreme hype surrounding their patio/outdoor space. That said, one thing they do really well is letting you order margaritas while you wait. Getting a pitcher made the whole process a lot more tolerable, and honestly, you have to do it. The margaritas were easily the best part of the experience. Once inside, the atmosphere was underwhelming. It's about as standard as it gets for a Mexican restaurant, and it didn't feel like much effort was put into making it memorable. On top of that, it's cash only, which in 2026 feels pretty outdated and inconvenient. Service was friendly, but slow and pretty absent throughout the meal. We didn't feel particularly taken care of. The food itself was just okay. The fajitas were fine, but nothing stood out or made them worth the wait. Overall, this place feels really overhyped. This place is amazing. It could be the largest place I have ever been in too. We had a pretty large group getting together and though we had a private space in the middle of the restaurant that was still open to the air around us -- it both felt private and like we were taking up less than a single table in the whole place. Okay, bad description, but take it for what I am trying to say. For us, the food kept coming. I never saw a menu so I am not going to call out specific items. In general, the margaritas were great and kept flowing, the nachoes were amazing, and the main meal, well things started to get fuzzy around that point. More seriously -- come here, enjoy. The Garden is indeed gorgeous -- felt like I stepped in time and into another country. Already had a Salisbury Stake at Paris Coffee Shop half an hour ago; I just couldn't eat anymore. So I decided to try their desserts with their house coffee instead. Had 3 of their desserts: Sopapillas, Parlines, Leche Quemada. All amazing. My favorite was their Leche Quemada -- soft, moist and chocolatty. The atmosphere, the servers and all of the staffs are amazing! Especially their hospitality -- out of this world. I wanna take a moment to talk about my server, DANIELLA, for a second -- amazing young lady: attentive; very fast and efficient but not rushing; clearly loves her job and very good at it. She checked-in with me multiple times, asked me how I like it and if I need anything. Topped up my coffee. When I ordered my third dessert, she also brought me a little bag with her and said "here's a bag to take it you if you can't finish it". Well. She was right; I couldn't indeed finish it. First, what place in this day and age besides the random food truck only accepts cash? You have to use an atm machine on site if you didn't bring cash. The menu is limited. No other table salsa available. I mean even Taco Bell has different sauces. The tamales were mostly masa with limited filling. Which is a shame because the Filling wasn't half bad. The masa lacked fat. It was dry. We didn't use the gravy or chili that it came with. We don't get it, and it's sacrilege. The rice was actually good. The only reason it's a two is because the fajita was actually quite good. They give you plenty of it too. Wait, another negative is they only have refried beans. No charro offered. Tsk tsk. They do give you a ton of guacamole. Very much appreciated. Where the beef fajita was great. The chicken tastes like Chinese Buffett chicken. It's was very surprising. Not at all fajita. We were told in line to notify the hostess, but when we tried, we got scolded and sent back to wait. Once seated, the atmosphere is beautiful--lush plants, stone walkways, and a real Mexican hacienda feel. It's like dining in a garden. Definitely Instagram-worthy. Heads up: They are CASH ONLY. Yes, in 2025. In Fort Worth. There's an ATM on-site, but it's frustrating not being able to use a card in a place this popular. As for the food: we ordered the cheese quesadilla appetizer, beef fajitas, and combo fajitas. Everything came out fast and hot. The fajitas were flavorful with generous portions, and the tortillas were fresh. The food was solid--not mind-blowing--but good enough that we cleared our plates. We also had margaritas, which didn't taste like fresh juice, but were cold, decent, and easy to sip on. Biggest downside? The heat. Most of the seating is outdoors, and there's no air conditioning--just a few fans. It was over 90°F when we went, and by the end of the meal we looked like we just finished a hot yoga session. Definitely recommend going later in the evening or during cooler weather, or bring a portable fan if you can. Service was great though--super friendly, helpful, and kept things moving smoothly. This is a hidden German in Fort Worth, Texas. The restaurant is massive with an amazing outdoor patio that is great when weather outside is nice. They do family style meals and the enchiladas were spectacular. They are known for their margaritas which are made to perfect perfection. I came here with a large group and had such a fun time. This location does get very busy and the wait for a table and for service took about 30 minutes. We ended up getting a little bit of rain, but they were so kind and helped us to move inside. I love their outdoor area . It's festive yet relaxing. Service was great. Just be ready to line up for a little bit to get a table but once seated, waiting is no longer an issue. The best experience of the night: - being serenaded by live musician - their Margarita is the bomb! - one of the best chips I've ever had, served warm Recommendation: - they have fresh guacamole which tastes great with the warm chips - get the salad with the beef over the beef fajita. Joe T Garcia's was one of the most recommended places for our girls trip. The like to get in was LONG but moved fairly quickly. You can get drinks while waiting which is nice. We ended up getting seated quickly as we had a large party that got pushed around to the front for one of the bigger tables. The patio is beautiful. Feels like you're in a villa surrounded by nature! As you've read, they serve two things - enchiladas or fajitas. However they don't share the pricing or menus for food/drinks. We didn't know what came with what (what is included, extra charge, prices of drinks, size of meals, etc). We ended up sharing mostly, one meal per two people. Everyone only got 1 drink. It still ended up around $400+ for a table or 8 ($50/person). It was great, but the price didn't seem to add up for the experience. read more

I will give you a timeline of our Joe T Garcia Misadventures.... 2/1/25 4:15 PM- we begin our wait in line 4:45 PM - purchased pitcher of margarita while in line 5:45 PM - purchased additional pitcher of margarita while in line 7:15 PM - seated by hostess 7:20 PM - we were then accused by Manager Jim of skipping the line, seating ourselves at a "reserved table" (mind you they do not take reservations) and were told to get back in line (are you kidding me?). He was not only erratic but also abrasive. after explaining to him that we had already waited in line for 2 hours l ordered multiple pitchers and were seated by a restaurant employee....he then stormed off. 7:45 PM - get seated at a new table and we were compensated with an appetizer of "nachos" (my niece could have made better nachos with Tostitos, shredded cheese and canned jalapeños) After FINALLY being situated and ordering were received 3 tortilla shells for 2 FULL orders of fajitas. (WTF?) If you want to wait in line for 3 hours for subpar food and to be treated like second class citizens please be my guest. But I would recommend you walk thru the Taco Bell drive thru for better service, food and ambience. Manager Jim needs to be fired and seek anger management.
