My friend said we HAD to try Joe T's...ummm it was all hype...and a bit unorganized. After a Saturday afternoon event we drove here to test it out. At first glance it seemed very cool, ambience was very welcoming, like we were at a family members home. However, the issues began when it was time to order. There were so many exclusions available after lunch time that we didn't really know what we ordered. My friend and I ordered margaritas...barely a drop of alcohol in either and were melted when they arrived. The other thing is a server brought out a plate of nachos (large tortilla with melted cheese) but didn't tell us it was two separate orders. Another friend ate mine by accident. Our server spilled some of my margarita on the table then wiped her hands on our tablecloth. Absolutely unsanitary. I ordered the small enchilada plate and $22 later I was disappointed. Food was mid at best, nothing was spectacular or cause to return. The cash only rule was fine until they told us they wouldn't split the check. Keep in mind that we barely know what each of us ordered since the server suggested items not found on the menu. I just added $40 and said good day. Came here for lunch with friends from out of town. We got there a few minutes after they opened and were seated immediately in the patio area. Our server (Daniella) was amazing. We never lacked for anything. Our drink and food orders both came out in a timely fashion. Food tasted good. Thankfully it wasn't blazing hot outside so it made for a nice, relaxing lunch. I'm going to just make a general statement here: This restaurant is meant for those who consider Pace Picante real salsa. This is the Disneyland of Mexican food restaurants. I grew up with authentic Mexican food and was told this was the best in all of Texas. Lol, ok. I will say the margarita blew my socks off though, in a great way! I'd recommend coming here for chips, drinks and maybe enchiladas. The chicken fajitas were just odd- the chicken seasoning sauce was so sweet it tasted like teriyaki. The patio was just splendid- it's unlike any other restaurant I've visited. It's so lush and overflowing with windy landscaped pathways and giant blowers to keep you cool in the heat. If you haven't been here, it's worth going at least once...just stick to the enchiladas, chips and margaritas! There was a cue outside- no reservations, so we waited about 25 minutes to get seated. Free salsa was great! The service is good, fast paced, a little rushed, but overall everyone was friendly. The chicken flautas were not the best and the cheese enchiladas were alright. I've had better Mexican food elsewhere. The tacos were alright. This place is amazing. It could be the largest place I have ever been in too. We had a pretty large group getting together and though we had a private space in the middle of the restaurant that was still open to the air around us -- it both felt private and like we were taking up less than a single table in the whole place. Okay, bad description, but take it for what I am trying to say. For us, the food kept coming. I never saw a menu so I am not going to call out specific items. Joe T. Garcia's is one of those places that comes with a lot of hype, but my experience didn't quite live up to it. The biggest issue is the wait. It's long. Eating inside is technically a shorter wait, but still takes forever. As a party of two, we waited about 45 minutes just to get inside, and the outdoor wait looked even worse because of the extreme hype surrounding their patio/outdoor space. That said, one thing they do really well is letting you order margaritas while you wait. Getting a pitcher made the whole process a lot more tolerable, and honestly, you have to do it. The margaritas were easily the best part of the experience. Once inside, the atmosphere was underwhelming. It's about as standard as it gets for a Mexican restaurant, and it didn't feel like much effort was put into making it memorable. On top of that, it's cash only, which in 2026 feels pretty outdated and inconvenient. Service was friendly, but slow and pretty absent throughout the meal. We didn't feel particularly taken care of. The food itself was just okay. The fajitas were fine, but nothing stood out or made them worth the wait. Overall, this place feels really overhyped. We sat outdoors mid-Summer and it was still comfortable (well-shaded). Our friends we so familiar with the place that they didn't even wait to see menus but ordered family style for everyone. They grew up nearby and this is the local spot they wanted to show off the most :-) We tried combo fajitas, enchiladas, tacos and nachos. All were good. And the service was epic! We also enjoyed a pitcher of excellent margaritas :-) We didn't even see the inside is the restaurant but there was seemingly no end to the outside. It's a large space filled with plants and fountains and cool lighting and it really just sets a mood. It's like something on the San Antonio Riverwalk but bigger. I was really impressed. We had so much fun that I forgot to take any pictures. Well, that's not true. I took a lot of picks but only of my wife and friends in various locations there. This is the biggest restaurant I've ever been to. Space is huge! We walked through multiple indoor and outdoor spaces to get to our seat in the back room (we had a larger group of about 15). The place is MASSIVE... and the outside patio IS worth the wait. 2. Sorella (sp?) is the manager, well spoken, and is the adult to all the youngsters working there... If you have questions, find the adults (I'm almost 56 lol!). Why am I explaining this... I and certain members of my party have food allergies. Sorella explained what I needed to tell my server and my food came out right... (see photo). 3. Our server was the nicest person I've seen out of California... right attitude, more than happy to accommodate... 4. Yes, everything is cooked/fried in LARD.. you can get main dishes altered.. but unless you want to eat a flour or corn tortilla... you're it eating the chips. 5. Their delicious desserts are lard free, you gotta try the pecan thing, looks like a fritter, but it's all sugar and goodness... literally ate it before my dinner. 6. Now, this is Texas... Have an option for chips not fried in lard... Please change your meat vendor, or buy a different cut... or at the very least marinade it? Even the mariachi band was good (a touch out of tune but as a 40+ year musician maybe I'm too critical? Dunno). Three part harmony was surgery and the trumpet player nailed every note! So all this negative Nelly's out there and the same token all the people that are ranting and raving about it, It's four stars. Brass tacks and bottom lines, if you have an allergy issue or you need something adjusted, just talk to the waiter or waitress and tell them Sorella wants it made like this... you can get something not made with lard, but you need to tell them upfront. The table was under a large tree which would have been lovely if not for the squirrels directly above us.We were barraged with nut shells falling on us and our food, and then the squirrels defacated all over us and our food. Brought some visiting friends here while we were at the stockyards, it was about a 10 min walk but very worth it for a bite to eat before we had to head back to see the rodeo. I will say this visit was not planned so we didn't plan to come early or anything. The outdoor line is typically longer but from what I hear it is worth it and they feature a beautiful patio. The line moves quickly and fairly efficiently. We were told in line to notify the hostess, but when we tried, we got scolded and sent back to wait. Not the warmest welcome, but the line did move fast, and they handed out cold water bottles, which helped in the heat. Once seated, the atmosphere is beautiful--lush plants, stone walkways, and a real Mexican hacienda feel. It's like dining in a garden. Definitely Instagram-worthy. Heads up: They are CASH ONLY. Yes, in 2025. In Fort Worth. There's an ATM on-site, but it's frustrating not being able to use a card in a place this popular. As for the food: we ordered the cheese quesadilla appetizer, beef fajitas, and combo fajitas. Everything came out fast and hot. The fajitas were flavorful with generous portions, and the tortillas were fresh. The food was solid--not mind-blowing--but good enough that we cleared our plates. We also had margaritas, which didn't taste like fresh juice, but were cold, decent, and easy to sip on. Biggest downside? The heat. Most of the seating is outdoors, and there's no air conditioning--just a few fans. It was over 90°F when we went, and by the end of the meal we looked like we just finished a hot yoga session.
