Crispy taco, beef enchilada, rice and beans

I have to drive out to school today. I figured I would finally stop in and try this place. I am glad I did! It was delicious. I got the lunch special #7 (beef enchilada and a crispy taco, beans and rice). I figured it would let me sample a little of everything. The chips wwee suoer light amd crispy. I wasnt a fan if the salsa. The rice and beans were well seasoned and delicious! Almost better than my mom's(shhh). I am always iffy on crispy tacos because they always crumble after the first bite. This taco shell was thin and super crispy BUT it held together till the last bite. The beef enchilada was good. I am not a big enchilada fan but this had good flavor. The red sauce had some deep, smoky flavor. I will have to say this place is much better than the more popular spot across the intersection from it. I will come back and try some other items that sounded delicious.

It actually comes with four but we couldn't help ourselves!

I heard about this palace on Facebook, the most negative thing I can say about it is it's a long drive. The food as incredible, the el girasol sampler was delicious and authentic, but the winner was by far the sopapillas, I've had this at a lot of Mexican restaurants, this sweet treat was on a whole another level, I would make the drive just for this dessert!

We often forget this place is here, despite passing it daily, but won't forget it any longer! We came on a Saturday and sat on the patio- we actually came because it was beautiful patio weather and it's exactly what my soul needed. I'm a sucker for a good Michelada and this one hit the spot! Hubs had a margarita and it was fresh lime juice and he said it was great as well. I just had a single Chile Relleno and he had Tacos Al Carbon and it was all very tasty. The service was wonderful as well, the young man who waited on us was extremely polite and well mannered!

**Update - I am not sure who is responding on behalf of business but they need to stop, it makes this business look bad! From changing their name (Leslie, Jennie, Rosalindawey, Juliana w.), changing their comments and direct message this person is not happy with my review! I've spoken with the daughter. Again we have been going since after C19, had wonderful experience throughout the years, used to be our weekly date night location! We have taken friends and family and loved our experience up until about 1 year ago the magic is gone. I am not evil or trying to ruin their business just open and honest feedback! *** Let me start by saying we used to love this place however the last 3-4 time we have gone in service has gone down tremendous! This place used to have multiple employees and you can tell they have cut back due to lack of customers is my guess. Food prices have gone up of course which I don't fault them for however my dish had grey guacamole on it! So not even fresh! Why would you ever serve that?!?! You can't even claim it went that color from walking to table! For $18 got a bed of onions (not even sautéed lightly cooked) with sprinkle of meat on it, which was bland and unseasoned! You might think it's a lot of food but once you grab first meat lo and behold a huge pile of onions. 2 corn tortillas and 1 flour tortillas was all that was served (never asked preference).....No one came and refilled waters, ask how food was or if we wanted dessert. I truly want to support a mom and pop style restaurant but something is lacking here now! Asking people to come in on social media due to slow hours first should have you looking at the food and wondering why folks aren't coming in!

    Beef Enchiladas

Stopped in on a Wednesday afternoon for a late lunch. My friend and I were greeted and sat immediately. We ordered a couple margaritas they looked and tasted delicious. The cucumber one was a little on the sweet side though. They brought chips and two different salsas to the table. They were both flavorful and Not overwhelmingly spicy. I'm not the biggest fan of cilantro but still enjoyed the salsas. For the entree I got the beef enchiladas, my friend a chicken fajitas salad, and her son a the kids bean burrito. Everything was so Delicious!!! This Restaurant is super cute, the food & drinks were great, Came out int a timely manner, & the bathrooms were clean too! If you have not tried this place yet you definitely should because we will be back for sure!

    Quesabirria Tacos

Los Girasoles totally killed it tonight - dinner was great as per usual... I went all out with the Quesa Birria plate - 3 quesabirria tacos loaded with beef, cheese. shredded cabbage, cilantro, onions and consommé. Then for dessert, I indulged in the Sopapillas, topped with a ridiculous amount of caramel, sugar/cinnamon & whipped cream.

    Complimentary chips and salsas

This place happens to be located across the street from our go-to Mexican lunch spot so it was a big decision to go here instead. The lunch crowd was light so we were seated promptly. They have a lunch menu with quite a few selections and includes a drink for $10. We opted for that figuring we'll try the basics first. Complimentary chips and salsas were brought out. They serve both green and red salsas here. Our first meal was good, not great, but we decided we give it another try, that is, until I saw my receipt afterwards. We were charged $2.50 per drink even though we ordered off the lunch menu. I was disappointed to say the least. Fast forward a couple of weeks later and I found myself here again, not by choice, for an office birthday lunch because our go-to spot is closed on Tuesdays. Our group of 8 were the only ones dining in that day throughout the whole meal. The others were not blown away with the food on this visit either. Service was great though and they even brought us complimentary bunuelos. I don't think I'll be back. Best of luck to them although they are competing with two long standing Mexican restaurants across the street.

The outdoor seating is so charming lush plants, colorful flowers, and a peaceful fountain that makes you want to stay awhile. I had the chicken fajita bowl, and it was fresh, flavorful, and hit the spot. The margaritas were definitely tempting but I behaved and stuck with water... next time for sure. Only minor thing, there was water on the floor going into and inside the bathroom, which could be a slipping hazard. A "wet floor" sign would definitely help. Beautiful atmosphere, relaxed vibe. Such a great little getaway in the middle of the day.

But we always hear people talk about how great Joe T's is so we thought maybe we just an isolated bad experience 15 years ago. But this time, it was even worse. Maybe people don't speak unfavorably out of fear of being shamed for not praising this "institution"? We arrived on a Wednesday at 5:30 so fortunately our unpleasant experience was not further worsened with a wait. The patio is still very beautiful and umbrellas were positioned to provide ample shade. But the fly situation was very annoying and could probably be helped with the spinning devices on tables or fans spread throughout the patios. The beauty of the patio doesn't compensate enough to endure the flies. The service started out good with waters, chips/salsa brought instantly. But within 15 minutes the service rapidly declined as more customers were seated. It was very tedious to the point of annoying to get refills on our drinks. Literally within 2-3 minutes of ordering we asked our waitress to switch one of the fajita orders from chicken to beef. She initially said "oh I'm sorry but I JUST put the order in". We looked puzzled and said "ok then it shouldn't be a problem changing it?" She went on to explain that she would add the beef to our table and just switch the chicken order to another table next to us who ordered chicken that she had not put in yet. All of that sounded very bizarre but the food was correct when it was delivered our table. At the time the plates were brought we requested a side of sour cream but it didn't come. After 5-10 minutes we spotted our server and requested it from her. But we still never got the sour cream. As I was paying the tab my daughter noticed that we were charged for an extra chicken fajita. So even though the server got the beef fajita added right after we ordered, she didn't take the chicken off the bill. She adjusted it once we pointed out the error. The food was the biggest disappointment out of all of it. I will always give grace to sub par service or atmosphere if the food is great. I say this with the utmost sincerity, I've had more flavorful beef and chicken at Chipotle. The chicken was so dry and served in big chunks which made it even tougher to chew. I seriously could not detect a hint of any seasoning, not even salt. It was very hot but not like the traditional sizzling fajita hot, more like it had been sitting in a heating pan or under heat lamps. For way too long. The beef was a tad bit easier to chew than the chicken but just as bland. The queso that we ordered tasted like canned cheese sauce watered down with chicken or vegetable broth and a tablespoon of pico added. The portion sizes of the entrees, the tortillas, the pico, the guacamole were all very generous. It's just a shame that it doesn't taste good.

You order your food at the counter and get a buzzer to come back and pick it up. The staff is friendly enough, but you don't really interact with them much since it's all pretty much self service after you go to the counter. The drink station has cane sugar based sodas; it's a bit heavy on the foam, but otherwise good. We opted for the birria pizza, a couple of cups of pozole, and a side of elote. Everything was solid. The elote was good, not great, but the pozole really hit the spot given how cold it was outside. The birria pizza is what blew me away, though. This was easily one of the most unique, but tasty, things I've ever had. It's not really a pizza, more like a topped quesadilla, but they did a great job of it.
