I'm surprised that the rating here is so low! The food is great, and the service is good! It can get a little bit too packed to eat inside comfortably but it's not the tacos shops fault people like their stuff! Also, they have an sit door patio with heat lamps around to make it more pleasant when it's cold or at night. Full disclosure: I have NEVER eaten here earlier than 8PM so maybe the lackluster reviews have something to do with people eating here at Lunch time. I always get 2 birria tacos & a carnitas burrito & they're always just as delicious as the time before. Just had breakfast after a pop up ad showed them on IG. Did NOT disappoint. Yomara (Alma) was our server and she gave great recommendations. We got the chilaquiles verde and the Breakfast Slam. The only reason I went back was to get their guacamole jalapeño salsa Went on a Friday at 2 and they turned us Allways saying they close for an hour till 3. If you want some tacos, the ones from here were pretty good. The menu has so much to choose from: tacos, burritos, Tortas, quesadillas, nachos, asada fries, sopes & mulitas! They have pictures of their food posted all around and even have a slideshow of Instagram-worthy photos playing on a TV; I could feel my mouth salivating. The tacos were bomb. For meats, you can get asada, pastor, carnitas, birria, pollo, chorizo, tripa, lengua or fish. Whichever ones you get, make sure to get everything on it (because guac is a must)! Not bad but I was disappointed with the al pastor taco...it did not have that sweet, pineapple taste that other bomb taco spots have but I've got to give props to their tortillas. I've been looking for a place in OC that would satisfy my Mexican food cravings I've developed from living in SD. I finally found it here in Palapas tacos. Their Al Pastor and Shrimp is delicious. Usually, their Al Pastor is caramelized on the outside because the fat has been dripping from the Mediterranean style vertical rotisserie. So it's got a very thin layer of hard caramelized fat on the outside but a juicy, tender texture on the inside. I know, it sounds too good to be true, but this is why I come back here every week. The flavor of course is soo good! Best shrimp I've had at a taco place. Very fresh and wonderfully put together with other flavors on a taco or burrito. I just ate four tacos but I find myself salivating some more as I write this review. I haven't said that in any other review I've written. That's how good it is. read more

Delicious tacos every time. A wide variety of food options from tacos, sopes, burritos, mulitas, loaded fries, and even keto meal options. The carne asada and the chicharon tacos are my favorite. The staff are great as well. They provide great customer service and pull out orders quickly. This location isn't very big, but there are enough places to sit inside or out in their patio area. Felt like you were at a walk up cashier restaurant order, pay and go. No recomendations, service was pretty bad, had to ask for water 3xs, asked for a hot coffee refil 2xs, asked for a side of sauce for our menudo and it took 15 mimutes to even get that. We had 3 menudos, only 1 person ate it the other 2 left it behind because it was sour. We complained about it, we shouldn't have. They can't take constructive critisism. "New Recipe" "New Chef" etc... We ordered a Molcajete, did not come out with rice and beans or salsa we had to ask for it also had to ask you silver ware, and so did the table next to us. We got hit with a 18% large party gratuity. Which we do not mind tipping 20-25% when service is up to par and hospitality is great from our server. but this was not the case. Why would you include gratuity, knowing your service was not good what so ever. Only good thing was the guacamole with pork belly. it was delicious but not enough to bring us back! The food here isn't jaw-dropping or anything, but it's really decent for what you're paying - they always have good deals on burritos, tacos, fries, etc. My favorites so far are the Mar y Tierra fries and the al pastor taco. $1.75 tacos ALL DAY on Tuesdays, and the BOGO $4 Thursday Special is really good! Their prices haven't gone up significantly in the past few years unlike other places. It can get busy and a line might form during peak hours, but I've never waited more than 30 minutes for my food here. Love to support local and smaller businesses! read more

One of my favorite places to for lunch during work. Normally they do have outside seating but the quarantine put that on hold for right now. The staff is helpful. There can be a wait sometimes but you know it's fresh. I always order the California burrito that comes with steak, fries, sour cream, guacamole, cheese, and pico de gallo. Another item that has bold flavor is carne asada fries is a go to. They do have a quesadilla with French fries in it which kind of looks like a pizza pie. How do I give them zero stars. That was the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. I was excited to try this place when I saw such a large line of people waiting to be seated. After getting seated we waited over an hour to be given no food. Our server took our order brought drinks and never came back. My family and I sat and watched as multiple parties were seated around us, given their food, checked on periodically, and paid. We couldn't even get a water! After waiting for an hour we paid for our drinks and left. When confronting the manger and explained that it was just busy and chalked it up to it behind Father's Day weekend. I had some take-out tacos from this restaurant last night. Tbh, I was initially a bit intimidated to try this place out bc of the bad reviews on Yelp. Well, turns out that I don't regret coming. Their service wasn't the best, but wasn't as bad as what the reviews were saying, at least when I was there. Also, food tasted pretty good! Meat tasted nice; their tortillas weren't my favorite personally. Definitely had better tacos in the past, but their tacos were absolutely above average! What I liked the most is that it tasted damn fresh. Found this place through IG and had to try their birria menu. I got the birria taco and added cheese. It was really good, especially with their avocado sauce. I think it's pricey for the size, but the taco had a surprising amount of meat in it. Maybe not enough for the price, but more than the flat taco makes you think. My plus one got the birria ramen which also comes with a taco. He really liked the flavor, but said the birria was skimpy. Remember that you can't trust what you see on IG.
