Okay.. I went back even after being mistreated by the employees because I had to pick up food for my parents. There is a very sweet Korean lady who works the register now and answers the phone. She is SO nice! She says thank you and remembers me when I come to pick up my food (ok.. I've been back more than once! Lol) The mood is much different at the counter without the rude attitude. My mom was addicted to the BiBimKookSoo so she decided to buy it for me one day because I love BiBimKookSoo too! Oh my gosh.. it is REALLY spicy so that is your warning. I LOVE spicy food but this is like "lighting my tongue on fire" kind of spicy lol It is such a steal for $5.50 but it doesn't come with much meat.. the trade off is that it comes with a TON of noodles. I decided to get the spicy pork and bibimkooksoo to share with my mom and it was a really deadly choice because the spicy pork AND bibimkooksoo were spicy!! I warn you.. ask for mild if you cannot stand intense spicy-ness. All in all I am happier with the service. I hope they keep that sweet korean lady at the counter because that will be my key to coming back :) read more

After reading reviews of the Palama Food Court, we decided to make it our lunch stop for the day. Located next door to Don Quijote, Palama Food Court is located inside the Palama Supermarket. It's essentially the Korean version of Shirokiya. After scanning the few vendors in the court, we ordered from an unnamed food booth in the corner of the food court and I was surprised at how cheap it was! $6 for my BF's BBQ chicken plate and $5 for my Bibim Kooksoo (cold spicy noodles). Yobo say what?! For $11, you really can't beat that! The women cooking were all Korean so that's always a good sign. It was a 10-15 minute wait for our food but it was certainly better than the standard Yummy's fare. There's a decent amount of seating at the food court, portions are hearty and we both left full. Word to the wise: Parking sucks. The lot was completely cray cray and we ended up just doing metered parking on the street. I'll certainly be back to do take-out, but I think the success of my food gathering missions will depend heavily on what parking looks like for the day. If there's one thing I go to Palama Food Court / Snack Corner for, it's the Kim Bap. The Palama Kim Bap is tasty with all the basic Kim Bap ingredients, but tastes better than many others I've tried. I don't know if they sprinkle crack in there or what, but I can't just buy one roll... I buy at least 3...for me. And at $3.50 a roll, I can get a little carried away sometimes. And I don't even use the Kim Bap sauce that many people ask for. To me, I feel like it takes away from the deliciousness of the Kim Bap. And as of recently, they service more than one kind of Kim Bap -- original, veggie / Gobo, and Kim Chee. The original is my fave. Prices at this "Snack Corner" are very good: Bibim Kooksoo is $5.50, 6-8 pieces of fried mandoo run for $3.50, and naengmyun is only $6. These Palama Snack Corner people aim to please!! Also, bottled water is only $.50 or $.75, which is dang cheap compared to most other places where you get ripped the eff off. Parking sucks, but I usually am very lucky. Be careful who you park next to bc these (Korean) people cannot drive for bananas!!! (I am Korean and I can't drive!!! But trust, these crazy Palama shoppers are worse.) Take a look at the lamp pole bases!! They are covered / cushioned with thick rope, so they don't eff up the 20 bumpers a day that back into 'em. I'm serious. I've seen it in action before, with my own eyes!! Considering both the price and taste, Palama serves up some pretty good Americanized Korean dishes. This blows Yummy Korean BBQ and many of those other Korean BBQs (serving American Korean Fare) out of the water. Plus, the food here are sold at prices that are hard to beat. **BTW - If you like Chicken Alice Chicken, you can get it here!! Yelp 365 - #221/365 read more

I've tried practically everything on the menu but keep coming back to the spicy squid. It's near perfect but perfect for $6!! I'd order it to go, skip over to the market to pick up a bag of red leaf lettuce or sesame seed leaves, then go home to a ssam(wrap) fest! Pairing the spicy goodness with fresh lettuce or sesame seed leaf adds another dimension to the dish b/c the greens help cut the heat while also adding a texture contrast to the chewiness of the squid. While the dish itself is not too spicy by Korean standards, be warned, those Korean ladies in the kitchen are not shy about dousing the food with loads of garlic and chili pepper flakes. So, be prepared for a dragon breath, even my own baby wouldn't come near me! read more

Palama Snack Corner - Ojinguh Bokkeum Stir-fried Squid $6!! - Korean Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

I got a bimbimbap and the banchans were not fresh especially the choi sum. Very disappointed knowing that it is a Korean supermarket. The only that was fresh was the over easy egg. read more

2.5 Stars I tried their mandoo soup recently and it was truly delicious. I gotta give them props and an extra half star for this surprisingly pleasant dish. Everything else on the menu, unfortunately, still remains ho-hum. read more

You get a lot of food for the price, which is a big plus, but the veggies are pre-set unlike the other Korean take out places. If you're on your way grocery shopping and need a quick, large lunch then this place makes sense but otherwise go to a place that offer more customization of your order. That being said, they have a large menu with lots of entree options to choose from. read more

Cheapest Korean food lite around. Not great food but it'll do when the wallet is thin. Good variety all things considered and food is prepared Uber fast. read more

I eat here at the snack corner occasionally when I come to pick up some grocery items at the supermarket. Food: Yuke-Jang was good but the spicy pork was way TOO sweet! Atmosphere: So so. Service: OK usually but poor on 2/13/20. A wrong dish, squid came out instead of spicy pork that was ordered. Price: Reasonable. Overall: I'd give 3.5 stars. read more

Ever since Queen's market closed up, I've been looking for a place to satisfy my soondae cravings. For those of you that don't know what soondae is, it's Korean sausage. Surprisingly, not many places serve it even though it's pretty popular among Koreans. A friend said I could find it being served at Palama (Keeamoku Supermarket doesn't have any at this time, they're waiting for the shipment). I was suprised to find that they were actually serving it. It's $8, which is a little steep, especially since Queens used to sell it for $6... I still decided to order anyway because nothing can keep me away from my food cravings. Upon my first bite I found that it was completely....cold. The sausage was COLD! I took it back and told the girl working at the counter to heat it up because it wasn't warm at all and she told me that they don't have a microwave. Um...there's no microwave here? What? So then my mom proceeded to speak to one of the Korean employees and she said she would steam it up for me. Ok, that sounds good right? After she steamed it, the entire sausage was obliterated. It no longer resembled anything like what I was originally given. We asked for a refund and my mom told the employees that food like this should not be served. I mean seriously, how can you serve such low quality food and call yourself a food establishment. How can you serve food that is still cold and expect people not to complain. The soondae comes precooked in a vacuum sealed package and all they had to do was HEAT IT UP. Apparently the dial that controls the temperature of the water automatically switches to cold...which is not an acceptable excuse for cold food. "Sorry we're a restaurant that serves cold food because our equipment is outdated" makes no sense at all. Maybe you should purchase something that effectively heats water instead of using that as an excuse? Ugh I was so disappointed that I'm never dining here again. I'm mortified by the fact that they can serve this kind of low quality food and give terrible excuses and call themselves an establishment that serves food. That's not food! It's NOT EDIBLE, that's what it is. So sad. read more

Cheap plate lunches, GREAT kimchi... what more can you really ask for? I wish they had choi sum all the time, but I really liked the vegetables they gave. So much food - I would have ate for 2 days on this plate if my boyfriend wouldn't have ate the leftovers. The soup looked SO good. Next time it's raining I'm coming here to get a bowl - yesterday was too hot. I really wanted the cold noodles, but I got the BBQ chicken since we got there at 11:30 and they don't start serving cold noodles until noon. I also want to try the Korean Wrap at the stall across from the plate lunch place... looked great. I wandered around a little in the supermarket place after eating. Produce and meat are cheap; their pork belly looked fantastic. The veggie bar looked great too, lots of choices and cheap. Next time I (sadly) attempt to make Korean at home, I'm coming here. Service is a little brusque, but hey. Whatever. It's not like they're downright rude, they're just not friendly. read more

I don't give 5 stars for plate lunch and take out places, but this place is special. The food is great, delicious, hot, perfectly seasoned and simple. The meat dishes are plentiful and the seafood dishes tasty! When I think of quick Korean food, I go here and you should too. tip: they also make food in the supermarket area right by the food registers. It's perfect to grab'n go, but they might be cold or sitting for awhile, after 8pm, they are discounted! read more

This place is another cheap eat establishment. I only went to the original store once until they opened one in Ala Moana area. The food court offers great Korean plate lunch. The best part is that the price includes tax. I love the Seafood Tofu Soup and BBQ chicken. You cannot go wrong to buy Korean food there. Like other reviews, the food court connects to the grocery shop section. You can buy other Korean specialty items there. Sometimes parking can be a challenge, but I have not run into any problem. read more

Palama Snack Corner = Okay food and decent prices. I visited this nook, hidden in the right corner of this Palama Market, looking for some savory breakfast. They have about ten plus types of dishes to order, and I opted for their daily special (beef soup) and kimbap (Korean sushi). *Beef soup: While I do love chewy beef organ parts, the broth tasted very watery and flavorless. It definitely needed more salt and simmering. The soup also came with a side of white rice to put in, but it just seemed like a dish to help satisfy someone's hunger. Not anything more. If someone saw this special, I wouldn't recommend him or her getting it. ($5) *Kimbap: With the eggs, veggies, and rice inside, it did just the trick for me to help tame my voracious morning hunger. ($6) I didn't leave completely satisfied, but it's hard to expect anything mind-blowing with those more than affordable prices. (Especially considering that it's in Hawaii.) read more

bought a Bibim Kooksoo for someone else. Karen, cashier, order taker spoke clearly, was fast, efficient, smiled, was helpful! Prices were very economical. for a first time visit; I had a very favorable impression. Plus, discriminating peers (korean) highly recommended this place! I'll be back for kim chi, Bibim baps & kalbi's! read more

As someone from Maui, the prices can't be beat. And the quality and taste of the food is awesome! SO cheap and the portions are very generous, the taste is also very authentic. Better than 90% of ANY Korean restaurant on Maui and definitely worth the money! Plus, shopping right after?? Yes! read more

I once rated the food under the actual super market. So I guess I'll put one here. Sure the food aint as cheap as it used to be and all the new staff are even more ornery. But I still love their kim bap and spicy squid. The squid is always the right kick of spice and I never can drive by without picking up 1 or 2 rolls of "Korean meat sushi". Ive ventured out to try some other items but always come back to the tried and true. Heck. I'm eating it now. read more

I liked the meal plates here because it's low price, around $6.00-$9.00. It's hard to find a great value korean meal. I've been to this one and the one around Dillingham. The food was pretty good. But I didn't like the service. The one at Dillingham, they were pretty nice. But the one here they seem pretty rude. I know we came around the time they were about to close. But kinda rude talking to us like that. There was none of this and that on the menu. I was feeling crappy already, and their service made it more worst. Then she started saying like we're going to be closing soon. I understand and it's our fault for coming so late. Not the best customer service. I don't know were they rushing to complete the orders and stuff, but after eating their meal I got a bad stomachache. I thought it was because my stomach was sensitive to outside food, but my parents got a stomachache after too. read more

Was a slightly cold night after my relaxing time at Aloha spa, so my friend and I walked to the Market and into the snack corner. Saw soonduboon/tofu stew and immediately ordered it. Came with rice and some sides of veggie. Not bad for a little market corner. Serving was a bit small, but reasonable prices. Would not hesitate to come back. read more

Pretty great food quality ESPECIALLY for the price. Each plate averages between $7-$10 and I feel like you definitely get your money's worth! The kim chee stew is my typical favorite, I love the spice! And for $7 you get a pretty good portion with rice and banchan. I also love their meat jun here, which is so juicy and way better than other Korean bbq places that most people tend to frequent. read more

Main dish portions are pretty generous but the stingy on the banchan (side dishes).

OMG !!! The BEST Korean Cheap Eats !!! You couldn't go wrong here. Everything is SOOOO good! I recommend: Nengmyon (Cold Korean Buckwheat Noodle) with Short Ribs ($9.00), Nengmyon (usually $5.50, on sale NOW for $3.50 !!) Short Ribs Plate ($8.00), Mandoo(Gyoza Dumpling) Soup ($5.50) and Soft Tofu Pot Plate ($6.00). This place is NOT a Fast Food. They cook upon your order, so expect to WAIT. AVOID going here in rush Lunch Hour. Very limited parking!! read more

So let me preface this with the fact that this is a post-workout meal (so it tastes better than it normally would) and that there is no such thing as a 3.5, so I just want to make that known before I start. I don't speak any Korean, but I eat more Korean than anything else. Perhaps this is something I should work on since the lady who helped me spoke little English. Luckily, I only wanted bbq chicken and that seems to work in both English and Korean. The portions are generous here and for $7, it's a pretty decent deal. If you don't get the sides you like, you can always supplement by buying ala carte items in the supermarket itself. Parking was okay, but I've heard during the day it can be pretty crowded and there isn't really much street parking either, so plan accordingly. read more

I ordered a cold noodle on a hot day. Palama market is great but when I asked why the dish didn't have the meat pictured on the menu I was told if I didn't want it I could return it for a refund. The clerk was rude, dismissive, unapologetic and aggressive about taking my food back. Disappointment met with this unpleasant experience isn't what I expected. This place is cheap if you're willing to put up with a poor experience. read more

Props for ono cheap eats. Heard this used to be a hidden gem not so hidden anymore. This is my 2nd review for them (the 1st one is on the market side). Surprised how low the prices are for how much you get and how good it taste. Haven't tried much but what we all tried we like cold noodles bibim kooksoo, naengmyung, mandoo soup, spicy tofu soup (sondooboo), soybean soup, cabbage kalbi soup real good and filling, Kim-bap and odeng. I think I like the soybean soup, cold noodles and Kim-bap the best. Better know what you want to order as soon as you get to the front since they get real busy. Can take awhile to get the food but I guess that's not so bad since you know you're getting it fresh made to order. You can see the ladies working real hard in the back you almost feel bad how fast they have to work while everyone staring at them. The food is on the the right side of the market. Communal tables. Parking can be an issue but there's a parking attendant that helps traffic flow. If you want good food on the cheap this the spot, good for takeout. read more

The food is tasty and cheap. The service sucks. The website said the snack corner closed at 8 p.m. So I came in at 7:50 p.m., looking at the menu and waiting for my dining partner to park his car. Then when he came in and I tried to order at 7:55 p.m., the person at the counter all of a sudden said they were closed, put the closed sign right in front of me, and left. If they had told me they were going to close a few minutes ago, I would have ordered earlier. Plus, the restaurant always seems to be running out of a lot of its dishes by early evening. read more

Previously reviewed under the market itself, but here again after two weeks travel in Korea and Japan. Writing this second review under a different Yelp location as I was so impressed again that I need to get the word out on the highest quality and low cost Korean food on the island. Ordered my typical fav of soon du bu this AM. So good and better than I had over the 4 days spent last week in Korea. Generous clams, scallops, tiny squid, huge chunk tofu, zucchini, mushrooms and all yummy stuff galore. They have now hired local girls to work up front with the true awesome Korean chefs in the back doing the real work. I had to yell back about specific order mods to the chefs in Korean because the front staff does not understand basic Korean. Still 5 stars and an awesome meal for only 7 bucks!! read more

cheap great fast food... how can u go wrong? i eat here 3 to 6 times a week... and i never get sick of it. 2 scoops rice (brown or white), lots of chicken, 3 sides and kim chi for $5.50 with tax...and its so good... might be the best deal on oahu! its my korean food fix, i love it and so thankful its there. read more

Over the years we have eaten ROLLS & ROLLS of kim bap from Palama Snack Corner. (It was one of our 'go to's" for parties) This past monday, we ordered 4 rolls to go with a family dinner. Food is cheap and good! For the price you pay you cannot go wrong eating here. They have a good variety of Korean food, and most meals come with a side of rice and kimchee as well as some vegetables. It is amazing that one of my favorite Korean restaurants is in a supermarket. The flavors of the dishes are complex and deep.

Was really hungry one day and was craving some Korean food. I shopped here ever since I was little but ever since it moved, I stopped going as often (I have no idea why because it just moved down the block). Anyways, I went on yelp and found this place. Based on the reviews and price I decided to give it a shot. This place is lacked at the back of the store, they have an area with tables and chars for whoever is eating there. It kinda has a open kitchen so you can see what and how they are making your food. The staff was nice and friendly and they have a very good variety of dishes. The price is very reasonable and compared able to other Korean places. My favorite soup is yook gae jang, and it was not bad at all. They give a very good portion of the soup and rice along with 3 side dishes. The side dishes are alright, I had better ones. Wished they had the fishcake side dish which is another one of my favorites. Cant wait to come back and try their other dishes, maybe soondubu or bibimbap. If you get takeout, order then use the waiting time to shop around they store. They have some good things on sale sometimes! read more

No smiles no friendliness robot order taking a shame. Food reasonable and good value pricing. Do not expect service. Order and get out.

I've been to this place many times to get dinner and lunches. Their food is always consistent and the price is very reasonable. They have good quality for the amount you pay here. I like that there is no restaurant-fuss like where you have people wait for you and pester you as you try to eat. This is more like cafeteria style which suits me perfectly. I always get spicy beef soup (yukgejang), sorry for the misspell. Today I got soft tofu soup and bibimap and loved it!! I gave 4 stars because their side dishes aren't that great compare to what they sell in the deli aisle. read more
