I ate here with my boyfriend late at night when we were trying to find a place to eat. This place is open 24/7. The gentleman behind the counter was very friendly . He even gave us some free pink drink and free candied rice of some sort. They were absolutely delicious! All the food we had was so yummy and my boyfriend loved it as it was our first time ever having Pakistani food. We definitely plan to go back sometime soon. One of the BEST Pakistani joints. I always eat and then take a bunch of stuff home with me. I live in Queens, so it is saying a lot that I take the train all the way to Brooklyn to get their food. Also, who are these people giving them 3 stars yet actually enjoying their food? A tip for those who wanna try: they do half plates too. Tasty curries. It's all pre-cooked and on a hot line. I had a potato curry and a chicken curry. Next time would get all veggies. The chicken is chopped in random chunks with the bone--not boneless the way I prefer. Also EXCELLENT keer rice pudding for desert. If you're craving for some Pakistani food in the middle of the night, then Pakiza's the spot. From what I'm told, they don't close? But don't take my word for it. I just know that they open late and caters to mostly the cab drivers. The restaurant has a few tables for you to eat there, but it's mostly take out. The food was good and relatively affordable. A friend took me here to try their Kashmiri chai, which they claimed was really good. I've had Kashmiri chai from a few other well-known Kashmiri chai places and was not a fan till I had it here. Mine was sweetened (normal, not a lot) and it was SO DECADENT. Never thought I would use that term to describe chai. I need at least two cups of it per trip to this spot. They also had me try their kebob with naan, and the kebobs were good but the naan was not the best I've had. Today I stopped for a taste at several different restaurants in my neighborhood. I used to be a regular customer but a few bad experiences and some board of health issues with the previous owners had turned me off to the place. Recently I noticed that the place had been cleaned up and one of my local friends and fellow Yelper, Ibrahim M. had suggested I give them a try, so I did! The restaurant is quite small but much cleaner and better lit than it was before. Likewise the two women behind the counter were friendly. It's a shame that it keeps happening. I be ordered from here 4 times. Each time they did not have at least one of the items ordered. The delivery is always an hour late at least. The food is okay for a hole in the wall. This is my experience this time: The delivery estimate time was 30-45 min. After 1 hour they called and said that one item is not available, a bit late to start preparing an order after an hour. 1 hour and 45 min later the food is still not here. The reviews were mixed but undeterred I ordered delivery. It was delicious. The aloo papri chaat was spicy, tangy, and sweet like it should be and it seemed fresh- the potatoes,chickpeas and yogurt were not off in any way. The keema naaan was tasty too and I enjoyed the sesame seeds on top. The real star though was the Kashmiri chai. Holy crap. It's not like the chai you're used to- this pink tea is a little salty but still sweet and less spicy. There's also a bunch of minced nuts floating around. They were pretty thoughtful to wrap the cup in a ton of Saran Wrap to keep it from spilling. I LOVE THIS PLACE. I live about 8 blocks from here and I come here often. Although mostly frequented by Pakistani locals, they are friendly and welcoming to other people (like me), unlike some of the other Pakistani places along Coney Island Avenue. Their curries are standard Indian fare - chicken, beef or lamb as well as vegetable options - a bit oily and just average flavor. Their dahl is wonderful, less watery than Indian dahl's. The reason I go there is for the kebabs. Wonderfully delicious, full of authentic spice and flavor. Nothing here is diluted to American tastes because their clientele is mostly Pakistanis and Bangladeshi's. These chicken kebabs are wonderful with their freshly made to order naan bread and chutney. If you go on a hot summer day, unlimited free Roofaaza (Rose Syrup, water and basil seeds) is cool and refreshing. They also have a large selection of non-curry meats - fried, grilled, steamed or roasted - chicken and fish - delicious. The steamed chicken is marinated before in herbs and spices - not like any other steamed chicken you had before - I can guarantee. Smack in the middle of Midwood's Pakistan Alley, this restaurant might be enough to tip the balance in the long-running India-Pakistani conflict. Whereas most Indian restaurants in the borough have had their edges sanded off to appeal to the yoga-loving and toddler-accompanying bourgeoise, the Pakistani establishments in the City are largely free from the burden of what they are supposed to be. (Perhaps its because the country is largely seen as a den of Taliban extremists, but that's no matter.) Anyway, the result is that the average Pakistani restaurant in the City is a notch or two above the equivalent Indian restaurant. And Pakiza isn't just a regular Pakistani place, it's truly remarkable. A friend and I wandered in here on the first nice day of the spring, after a long walk through several neighborhoods in Southern Brooklyn. She ordered a thick daal dish, while I went with a piece of spicy yellow chicken curry. I had a large piece of naan on the side and both of us were given a small side salad free of charge. There was none of the grease that can permeate South Asian food in the City (truth be told, this can be a problem in the Subcontinent as well). Instead there were intense flavors, clearing out the nasal passages with each bite. It's possible to eat this food without silverware, in the traditional style. There's no written menu and not a ton of English spoken here, which can make ordering a little problematic. This isn't such a big deal as things rotate and nearly everything is excellent. Kebabs are also available for a snack, although you might as full get a full portion. My friend and I made it out of here, two entrees and drinks later, for just over $10. However the food finally arrives 2 HOURS late, and not only that. The drinks I paid for are missing and the order is completely wrong.. Only 1 thing I ordered came correct. Tried to contact the store and they agreed to refund the price of the drinks, however they insisted the order was correct and when an Eat 24 representative contacted them they said "the driver must've switched the orders".
