Yesterday June 30 2026- I ordered the goat biryani for take ou. I opened the plastic bag and then gently ripped the side of the paper bag containing the food. As I unpeeled the edge of the plastic cover, the bottom of the aluminum container collapsed in the paper bag, creating a hot greasy mess. I immediately returned the food the restaurant. The manager on duty poure the hot mess from the bottom of the paper bag into the remaining amount in the aluminum container collapsed I told him that's a heath violation. He said let me explain, I will give it to my workers. I was livid and stood by the door watching to see if they would make me a fresh order. The workers kept blocking my view. That's when I decided to write this review. Their food is authentically Indian but THE workers' understanding of NYC health and food handling codes are absent. The food was great, as was the service. We went when it was like 85 degrees out and they don't have central AC, so between that and the spices we were sweating, but I'd definitely return on a colder day or get takeout from here again. The lamb vindaloo was great, but a bit spicy (though we were properly warned!). The tikka masala was also great though a bit mild in terms of spiciness. However, it was really nice to be able to go back and forth between spicy and not spicy bites so overall there was a great balance. The naan, rice, and raita were great accompaniments and the portions of everything were deceiving my large. We left feeling full and happy. I also want to reiterate that our waiter, who I presume was also the owner, was so friendly and kind. This is a great business and I hope they stay for a long time. Went in for a late lunch. The first waiter was surely and unpleasant. We had the lunch special, and the shrimp curry and vindaloo were excellent. The shrimp was fresh, and the Vindaloo was definitely spicy, as expected and appreciated. But the mulligatawny soup tasted like warmed-over dal with a little tomato paste. It was meh at best. And they charged us $5 for a cup of tea, which was nothing more than a Stash tea bag in a mug of lukewarm water. We also ordered Masala chai ( tea) , tea was not as expected and not boiled enough. when we reported that tea was not good. They said they boiled it and other guests like it. We came here for an early dinner. Our waiter was very attentive. The vegetable samosas were crispy and satisfying. The naan was super fluffy and dense. I loved the rich, nutty sweetness of the paneer makhani. I asked for it to be made spicy so they added in fresh peppers. The paneer had nice firm texture. The restaurant is very open with natural lighting and cozy seating. For appetizers, we ordered vegetable samosas and lamb shish kebab. The lamb was a bit salty but the sauce on the side paired well. For entrees, we had the chicken masala and butter chicken with white rice on the side. We also ordered a side of garlic naan. The food smelled amazing and tasted authentic. It came with two samosas as well as chutneys and pickles (the pickle was tasty!). The samosa was crispy and the filling was good. 4/5 For the main, I ordered lamb vindaloo, which came with a side of rice. The vindaloo was spicy (which I love), but the flavor was a bit one note and too tomatoey for my tastes. 3/5 I ordered garlic naan on the side. Nothing crazy about the ambiance - it has the feel of a local neighborhood place. Looked like they were short staffed on a late Sunday night as well since many tables were left uncleared. Love the Saag Paneer from Mumbai Palace! It's a little expensive but worth it. The menu states it's "fresh spinach cooked with homemade cottage cheese in a mildly spiced cream sauce." And it lives up to its description- delicious cheese & creamy, almost delicate texture. Just the right amount of spices. By far my favorite dish. The naan was delicious too - very moist & fluffy. We walked in on mid day this week and were seated within minutes and they were extremely respectful and patient (we had our baby with us) and seated us in a space with lots of room to accommodate our stroller. It's a great neighborhood restaurant! The interior wasn't anything to be impressed by, but it was spacious with plenty of tables. When I went, it did seem a bit short staffed. It looked like there was one guy running the whole show. Because of this, the tables weren't cleared when we walked in. However, he was quick to do so and was very friendly and apologetic. I tried the mango lassi which was delicious. I didn't order any food, but my friends tried their chicken tikka masala, which was solid. The waiter brought out a complimentary samosa for me, which was such a pleasant surprise! It was delicious with the chutneys they provided. I had ordered a Masala Chai and when the waiter brought it over, not only was he holding the top of the mug with his hands, but half the mug was empty! It looked like he had spilled half of the drink, then had the nerve to serve it looking a mess. I had asked for a couple extra napkins and they literally brought only two. Stopped in the other day for a spot of lunch and had the most delightful mixed vegetable curry. Often, this dish seems an afterthought - but here it was absolutely delicious. Just the right amount of heat and a wonderful mix of Cauliflower, cabbage, peas, tomato. I brought some Samosas home for later and they were a great evening snack.
