Tasty spot that has two locations. 5 stars for service we came when the place was empty between lunch and dinner and we were treated very well. Vegetable tikka masala with paneer was very sweet, paneer was tasty. Fresh delicious garlic naan and spicy chicken tikka masala. I ordered seekh kebabs (halal) but they were just ok, possibly frozen prior. Would come back! Nice clean bathroom. Dhey Bhalla also great!

Run, don't walk to try this place out! This newly opened Indian restaurant is currently offering an amazing lunch deal everyday from 11-3PM, in which everything on the menu is half price. My friend and I ordered 3 entrees, 2 drinks, and roti. For all that, the total was $26, which included tip! Also, the interior decor was so lovely, and gave off a calm oasis ambiance, with mint green walls paired with silver, flowers, mirror fountain, as well as beautiful paintings. We were served crispy, thin bread with tamarind sauce and a green one. The bread was kind of spicy, so I couldn't have much of it. For my drink, I got the Mango Lassi, which was soo tasty. It was thick, creamy, with just the right amount of sweetness. The Garlic and Cilantro Roti was really yummy, and thinner than Naan, making it a bit crunchy. The garlic mixed was cilantro was a great combination. I had the marinated lamb with peppers and potatoes. This dish only came with 2 lamb chops (probably because it was half price), on top of peppers and potatoes in a slightly sweet and tangy red sauce. The lamb chop was well seasoned, and the meat had a bit of char, while still remaining tender. My friend shared her Lamb Korma and Chicken Biryani Rice. The lamb was delightfully succulent in an almond curry sauce, which was nutty and a bit on the sweet side. The Chicken Biryani Rice was bold with flavor, made up of a variety of spices. The service was wonderful. Our waiter was friendly and on top of it. All the food came out in a timely manner and our water was always refilled. I would love to return and try the Crab or Salmon in Coconut Curry.

The vegetables, lentils, and rice were balanced and comforting, and it really tasted homemade in the best way. The summer salad was also lovely, and the pani puri was decent. We chose bar seating, which ended up being a bit of a tight squeeze facing the wall; not the most comfortable setup, but manageable for a short meal. To start, we had the pani puri, followed by the samosa chaat. The flavors were good, but the samosa chaat was a bit of a letdown. It wasn't served hot, and the samosa itself was soggy rather than crisp. That contrast in texture is really what makes the dish shine, so it felt like it may have sat a bit too long or was over-sauced. We also tried the vegetable pav, which was decent, and the cod, which was actually very good; nicely cooked with a flavorful sauce. I did find myself wishing we had an extra roti to soak up the rest. For drinks, I had the mango lassi, which I appreciated for not being overly sweet. Service was okay but could be more attentive. My water wasn't refilled after a couple of rounds, and we felt a bit rushed toward the end of the meal. We were given the check without being asked about dessert, which caught us off guard. We did ask afterward, but by then decided to go elsewhere. That said, the food overall is flavorful, and I can see why this place has appeal; especially if you're looking for something a little different in the neighborhood. Having met the owner before in Industry City, it's great to see her doing well in Carroll Gardens, and I wish the restaurant continued success.

The decor and vibe of this place is so vibrant and beautiful, it instantly puts you in a good mood. I came here for a solo dinner during restaurant week which was a pretty good deal. Most of the patrons seem like they were neighborhood locals which I love to see. I would say based on the flavors and the people dining here that this restaurant is more of a gentrified desi place than authentic. I found the flavors in most of the items I tried lacking. The fuchka prepared tableside is a nice touch, but again the marketing is geared more towards non-desi patrons. The fish fry was delicious and a good portion but more like a good British fish n chips cod filet than a desi fish fry with proper spices. Even the mustard served on the side was awfully bland with no spice whatsoever. While I can still appreciate the flavors, I will always be disappointed when an establishment trades authenticity to serve and coddle palettes that do not appreciate proper desi food. The lamb curry was very very good, and I specifically asked for it to be made spicy. Dining here felt like invading a curated space for non Indians, so I unapologetically ate the curry and rice with my hands to remind myself that yes, this is still our food even if it's muted. To the owners I say - do better and do not shy away from authentic flavors. This is afterall, New York freaking City. We are allowed to show up and showcase our cuisine with full masala, full spice and full heat - just the way God intended it to be.

What pangat does well is stray from the mainstream and give us the best mumbai street food outside of mumbai! I was craving pav bhaji when I found this little gem in prospect park, and boy did they outdo my expectations! From the moment you step in, you're greeted by low lighting and Mandela art. The iconic songs from your childhood play in in the background. We were greeted by a friendly host and seated promptly. The vibes were 10/10 We were feeling peckish for some apps, so ordered the misal pav and chicken Koliwada. Both were equally good, the spice level was perfect for me, but a bit on the hotter side for my husband (you can order less spicy if you'd like) the chicken for me, was the star of the show! It was perfectly seasoned and crunchy! I would 100% be coming back to try their mains, such a good hidden gem!

We walked right in, no reservation needed! It's a tiny-ish spot, but they still comfortably accommodated our group of 5. Vada Pav: Good, not amazing. BUT the masala is the real star here. Apparently it's the owner's mom's recipe, and that masala is fire Pav Bhaji: This one disappointed me a little. The bhaji was very greasy and not quite what I think of as an authentic pav bhaji. That said, you'll probably still enjoy it because buttery pav + buttery mash is a combination that's hard to not like Silver Pomfret Rava Fry: Star of the show and an absolute must-order. The fish was perfectly cooked, the dry rub was spot-on, and that rava coating was perfect. Goat Biryani: I've definitely had better, but it was packed with goat and the flavors were fine. The rice doesn't separate much, though. But the dough on top is almost like a flaky paratha - amazing. Also, please don't take my word for it on the biryani. I'm a biryani snob and my bar is ridiculously high Prawn Sukka: Expected a little more from this one. Maybe it's just the style that didn't quite work for me. I'll probably give the Koliwada a try next time. Overall, I'll definitely be back. The Sunday thali is calling my name, and I'm absolutely trying that.

In short, we ordered chicken tikka masala and garlic naan through Uber Eats but then received the entirely wrong order an hour later. We got the got the issue corrected with Uber Eats, and I called the restaurant to ask that they remake our order for which we would pick it up and pay for it in person. The main woman who was assisting asked me where the incorrect order was as she claimed it is a requirement that we bring the wrong order back to the restaurant to be issued a full refund (?). I said I was not made aware that we had to do this, and furthermore, I know that based on hygienic food practices, they should be trashing any food that goes to the wrong customers... especially since the food has now changed hands multiple times with a delivery driver and being in our home... She insisted that this was not true and that the food could be used to feed their employees, which may be the case, but again, this was not clear and I am skeptical of any restaurant who accepts back food that has been out of their sight for nearly 2 hours at that point. She and the other woman continued arguing with me on this - at one point insisting they will send their delivery driver back with me to pick up the food?! Absolutely not. I was feeling incredibly harassed at this point - and honestly between being hungry and pregnant, I communicated this and that this situation was stressful, but they were continuing to argue with me. The second woman started to dismiss me, even. I asked my husband to come in and take care of the bill because I had to remove myself from that situation, and I could see him through the window continuing to be berated by the main woman for her assumption that we would be trashing the food that was incorrectly delivered. (I never stated this, I did state that I am aware that restaurants have to throw this food out.) He confirmed that she was being just as argumentative with him. This is such a shame because Indian Spice was such a wonderful part of our experience when we last lived in Brooklyn, and based on this, I would never order from here again.
