In town for work and was craving Indian food. I live in Chicago and we have a great Indian food…read morescene there, but I figured I'd try it (note-I'm Caucasian. Just love all Asian foods). The food was fresh, the flavors complex and subtle and really flavorful. I got the Chicken Vindaloo and garlic naan. The Vindaloo was properly spicy (I love spice). Reasonable price for NYC. Service was excellent. Overall, highly recommend!

Loved the complimentary pappadums while we waited. The lentil wafers paired so nicely with the dipping sauces. The tamarind chutney was tangy with a hint of sweetness. The mint chutney is a vibrant blend of fresh mint, cilantro, green chilies, and spices. It has a bit of a kick. Ordered a lamb entree and a veggie korma to share. The lamb rogan josh was so rich. The lamb was so tender. It was served in a rich curry sauce infused with cinnamon, cardamom, and nutmeg. So fragrant. The vegie korma was full of vegetables in a delicious creamy, almond and cashew nut sauce. Delicious! The garlic naan and the cheese naan paired perfectly with our curries. Service was great. and our water cups were always refilled! Nice to be able to walk from our hotel on Saturday night and get a booth without a reservation. Thank you to Neha for a great evening celebrating life over a delicious meal with our daughter.

Bombay Grill is one of my favorite Indian restaurants in the city. The food is gently spiced and not greasy. The last time I checked, they had an excellent health department grade. It was a challenge to find that plus an affordable lunch special. One of my other favorite Indian restaurants has had several issues with the NYC health department. The Yelp app is very helpful - it lists the health department grade after the ratings. Bombay Grill also makes excellent curries. I prefer those over the usual chicken tikka masala - although that's always good. If you order lunch, the lunch box has more variety but less of the main course. So if you want just one main dish, it's better to go without a box lunch option and just choose a standard lunch deal.

The food, the service, even the voices of the servers, were all excellent.

Very nice little place located in Clinton Hill. Standard Indian decor, but not ostentatious…read more Our waitress was very friendly and the man at the counter as well. Lots of smiles and very welcoming. Now for the food: we ordered Lamb Vindaloo and Chicken Saag (two of my favorite Indian dishes). We also ordered, Samosas, Tandoori Mixed Grill and an assorted Naan platter. Mango Lassi as well. The entrees were good; I've had much better. I know Indian cuisine varies from region to region, household to household, so there'll always be variations in traditional dishes from restaurant to restaurant. Lots of favorable reviews on Yelp for this establishment, so it comes down to personal taste, and this didn't quite ring the bell for me. The Tandoori mixed grill was, well...I'm pretty sure leftover from the day before and reheated--at least portions of it (the chicken, for sure). There was Salmon included (not typical in a mixed grill). Samosas arrived still cold inside, which tells me they were either frozen or made a day or two in advance, or worse yet, not made on the premises and bought from a restaurant supply. Whichever, they were passable at best. The Naan was good, for the most part. The onion Naan was disappointing (onions were minced and only sweated, which made the bread too sweet. The onions should be caramelized). Overall, although the food left a lot to be desired, I enjoyed the dining experience. It's a comfortable place and the staff are very nice. But, that said, it always comes down to the main event--the food.

GET THE CHILI CHEESE TOAST ON A CROISSANT!…read more I'm still thinking about it. Their chai is also solid- a bit too sweet for me but very good. The space is also super cute! Will be back

We chose bar seating, which ended up being a bit of a tight squeeze facing the wall; not the most comfortable setup, but manageable for a short meal. To start, we had the pani puri, followed by the samosa chaat. The flavors were good, but the samosa chaat was a bit of a letdown. It wasn't served hot, and the samosa itself was soggy rather than crisp. That contrast in texture is really what makes the dish shine, so it felt like it may have sat a bit too long or was over-sauced. We also tried the vegetable pav, which was decent, and the cod, which was actually very good; nicely cooked with a flavorful sauce. I did find myself wishing we had an extra roti to soak up the rest. For drinks, I had the mango lassi, which I appreciated for not being overly sweet. Service was okay but could be more attentive. My water wasn't refilled after a couple of rounds, and we felt a bit rushed toward the end of the meal. We were given the check without being asked about dessert, which caught us off guard. We did ask afterward, but by then decided to go elsewhere. That said, the food overall is flavorful, and I can see why this place has appeal; especially if you're looking for something a little different in the neighborhood. Having met the owner before in Industry City, it's great to see her doing well in Carroll Gardens, and I wish the restaurant continued success.

Spoiler, we never made it to any of the other locations because we were so full. Jalsa provide fare from all over India and makes paneer in house. They have plenty of seating and can take care of large catering parties. As is customary, they have a Sunday lunch buffet. We came on a rainy Saturday afternoons and there weren't many patrons dining. We went with the masala chai, mango lassi, lamb kati roll, and a ghee masala dosa with gun powder, upon recommendation. -The masala chai was perfectly blended, with sugar on the side to sweeten to one's liking. -The mango lassi was really good, but a bit thicker than I'd like; good tartness. -Lamb kati roll was really good, larger than expected. The flavours were well balanced and the paratha had a good flake to it. There was A LOT of lamb inside. -The ghee masala dosa was the shining star; it must have been 2.5, if not 3 feet long. The edges were super crispy like a chip, and the masala potato pilling was delicious If I could do it all over again, I'd only eat here and not eat ahead of time, since this was enough food to fill a party of two (maybe add in a samosa or two). I'll definitely be coming back to try more fare.

I have not been disappointed once after eating more than 5 times. Below are items that I order regularly: 1. Chicken Biryani 2. Kosha Mangsho (Goat Curry) 3. Chilli Chicken - This is probably the best I have ever eaten! However I highly recommend eating this at the restaurant coz Togo will get soggy and not as much fun! There are couple of things which I am not a fan of: 1. They do not have a phone number on their website 2. Their Togo menu is different than their sit in menu. However, if you go there and ask them for items that are in their sit-in menu, they have never said no
