Best Indian food in Brooklyn! It had been a while since we went out for Indian food. Last night we headed to Namaste and enjoyed every morsel of our dinner. The staff is so friendly and accommodating, such a great customer service We started with a mango lassi and a fresh mint lemonade. The vegetable samosas were perfect. Not greasy and so tasty. The vegetable pakora was also yummy. We then had the coconut rice, chicken tikka masala and my favorite bread, poori. It was the perfect meal and of course, we will be returning. I've been here four times now. Like I mentioned in my other review, I'm probably not the best person to judge an Indian restaurant since I'm not a huge fan of spicy food or vegetarian/vegan dishes. That said, this place has been solid every time. The naan was great (just a heads-up that it's charged separately -- but totally worth it!), and the chicken tikka masala was excellent -- tender, creamy, and full of flavor. They had two chicken options on the buffet. I tried the second one, but it was a bit too spicy for me -- more about my personal taste than anything wrong with the dish. Compared to Dhaba in Manhattan, this buffet had fewer vegetarian dishes, which actually worked better for me since I lean more toward meat dishes anyway. The lunch buffet is listed at $16 before tip, but once you add naan, it comes out to about $20 -- still very reasonable. The restaurant itself is clean and simple, with basic tables and natural brightness coming in from outside. Service has been attentive every time I've visited, even when the place wasn't busy. COVID wiped out a lot of buffets, so it's nice to see a few places like this (and Dhaba) still going strong. I'm glad this one's still around. read more

I've had two experiences with delivery from Namaste. 1. A couple years ago we had an outstanding order that was delicious and hot and exactly what I wanted when I ordered Indian food. I remember thinking to myself, "This is going to be our go-to Indian delivery from now on." Five stars. And then we went on an Indian food hiatus that I can't explain, but 100% blame on my wife. 2. Last week, that same wife decided she was craving Indian food because it smelled like Indian food in our hallway, and I remembered Namaste. So we ordered a few staples like chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, garlic naan, and added on some gobhi manchurian and a tandoori chicken salad because I was feeling saucy. The staples were all solid, although a bit under-seasoned and under-spiced (easily fixed because I keep salt and a large collection of hot sauce around). Manchurian cauliflower in the best of situations is crispy and for lack of a better comparison, tastes like General Tso's cauliflower. Unfortunately, this version tasted like old, hard cauliflower in a gloopy ketchup-like sauce. More egregious was the tandoor chicken salad, which I thought was a great deal at $8. Sadly, the chicken was nearly inedible. It was dry and unrecognizable as chicken. Three stars overall. I'm going to hope that this was a one-off bad experience, and average the two experiences at four stars. Hopefully next time will be better. read more

I love this spot, especially their lunch buffet which there are so many options and it is a quick self serve. Surprisingly this place is not that busy. We did order additional naan and other dishes on the side since the buffet is rice with multiple different dishes and curries. Great for the price and food is decent. read more

This is my 5th time stopping by on 5th Ave for Indian spices and flavors. I enjoyed the daily Lunch Buffet and it was a great selection of chicken and vegan options. First: Mango Lassi is a treat. Second: Garlic Naan. The servers were very accommodating and helpful. Just a chill place to dine. I stopped here for the lunch buffet on a trip to Brooklyn. It's a modest buffet--just rice, six dishes, and greens + chutneys. But in this post-pandemic world, seeing a buffet at all is a rarity. You can order bread, appetizers, and stuff off the menu, of course. I am vegetarian so I did not try the two chicken dishes on offer. I did try the dal makhani, saag paneer, eggplant + pepper, and aloo zira (aka jeera). Some of the dishes were a bit tepid, but all were tasty. Unfortunately I have that gene that makes cilantro absolutely vile and every steamer tray had ample cilantro sprinkled over the top, so I had some fishing to do in order to avoid the worst. But I left with a happy tummy. Buffet was 17.95 including tax and (surprise 3.25%) credit card fee. A business should let you know if they are going to charge for that. read more

It was my first time going to a indian restaurant! The food was sooo good. I had poori for the first time it was sooo good! The service was amazing. I was an strictly diet and the employee was so patient with me and understood my diet needs and made sure that i was satisfied. We didn't have the wait for the food that long. The food was fresh. Best mulligatawny soup we ever had. When it seems like restaurants are all downsizing their proportions, their's were HUGE. The papadam was so fresh. The shrimp tikka masala sauce was amazing, and the shrimp were lightly charred from being cooked on the grill. Definitely thumbs up! read more

Always fantastic! Came by on the weekend after a beautiful walk in Rockaway. Thought we would stop by the area as we had a craving for delicious Indian food. The buffet is always clean and the staff friendly. Our waiter, an older gentleman, (unfortunately didn't catch his name) was so kind. He was attentive and made us feel welcome. Food: I have my favorites already the chicken tikka, saag. Tried a new dish a chicken curry that was fantastic flavor punctuated with mint and cilantro. Really delicious. For a $14 a person price this is a fantastic deal. We always eat just a little too much. It's a shame there aren't more patrons here as the food is so great and so is the vibe. On a search for Indian food and saw this spot in Park Slope offers daily all you can eat lunch buffets (hard to find in this economical climate). Buffet is from 11am-4pm and $16 per person. Came here on a Saturday around 2pm and it wasn't busy at all -- only one other person dining but 3 more tables came after us. It's self serve and food is inside buffet style trays and kept warm with sternos. However, I felt like the sternos didn't keep the food hot enough. I like my food hot, not warm, so a star off for that. All dishes are labeled. There were lots of vegetarian options and chicken for protein, such as chicken tikka masala, daals, chana saag, variety of sauces, and salad. I wish there were more protein options -- it was only chicken. I have been to Indian buffets where they have chicken, lamb and fish options. Rice is also unlimited and kept warm in the cooker. We were asked if we want naan but didn't realized it's not included with the lunch buffet. It's $4.50 for garlic naan but it's made to order and came fresh and hot. The servers were very attentive and were constantly refilling our water. Overall, it was so good to enjoy a variety of Indian staple dishes with the lunch buffet. The price is unbeatable but I do wish they have better options. I have better Indian lunch buffets where they serve a better variety than this spot for comparable price but overall, this place is a steal. Try it out. read more

We stopped in the restaurant for the 1st time on a Saturday night during an evening walk. We ordered curry goat, channa masala, the garlic naan (not for me), an appetizer (didn't eat it but believe it was a cauliflower), and a pineapple juice. It was more than enough food, however, my stomach felt a bit off post the curry goat, basmati rice, and pineapple juice (plus water). My husband didn't have much of the curry goat (just a taste of the sauce), but he assured me that the menu was labeled as this being gluten free. Well, by the time we got home, I wasn't feeling the best though he felt fine. My sense is that there was gluten in the food or something was up with the meat or juice. I visited Namaste on Sunday before a Nets game and I'm not disappointed. It's a good few blocks from the arena, so don't get too tempted on your walk because there is sooo much to eat on 5th Ave alone. If you did get distracted and eat somewhere else, that's ok. Namaste is a good place to eat and move on. The resturant itself is clean and cozy enough. Staff is friendly and attentive. We arrived around noon, we're immediately seated and offered the buffet or a menu to choose from. They weren't rushing us at all, but they weren't busy either. We went with the buffet cause it looked clean and had everything we wanted and gave us the opportunity to try some new stuff. Naan was extra and worth it, the Chicken Tikka Masala was ok (If you order it from the menu, you can apparently order white or dark meat directly for an extra dollar, wish I did that cause the white meat gets a little dry.) The chili chicken was the only thing they had spice to it. , Veggies where kinda delicious. Absolutely nothing negative about this place, a solid 3.5 (so giving them a 4) and a good lunch stop. It ends at 4pm so we were cutting it close but they were super friendly and welcoming . When it hit 4pm they began to clean up the buffet area and reminded us to get another plate if we'd like! I tried the lunch buffet and honestly it was just ok, food was lukewarm and I tried a little bit of everything just to compare the dishes. Best items there are the chutney, rice, eggplant and curry chicken. The saag was ok but everything lacked true flavor, the most flavorful thing was the chutneys. Also the food isn't refreshed often because realistically not a lot of people come for the lunch buffet. Only thing I didn't like is that they upsell you naan bread in the beginning without telling you it's not included and it's about 5 dollars. It kinda felt deceptive especially because you don't find out until you're done with your meal and you go up to pay, so I made sure to take my naan home. As for ambiance I really enjoyed the music being played as it was two young guys running front of house (I would describe it as Indian hip hop) they provided great service and were attentive. But the inside was a little run down with paint coming off the walls it seems like they may primarily survive on take out orders. I was just turned off about the deceptive up charge and the chicken tikka masala was the worst I've ever tasted. I personally wouldn't come back. read more
