    Garlic naan

2026 Mar 7: we both had the buffer for $16.95 each. And a mango lassi. And a garlic naan. The lassi is small but great. The garlic naan is crispy at the bottom and chewy. Of the buffet dishes, the chicken Dai has the best curry.

I've had two experiences with delivery from Namaste. 1. A couple years ago we had an outstanding order that was delicious and hot and exactly what I wanted when I ordered Indian food. I remember thinking to myself, "This is going to be our go-to Indian delivery from now on." Five stars. And then we went on an Indian food hiatus that I can't explain, but 100% blame on my wife. 2. Last week, that same wife decided she was craving Indian food because it smelled like Indian food in our hallway, and I remembered Namaste. So we ordered a few staples like chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, garlic naan, and added on some gobhi manchurian and a tandoori chicken salad because I was feeling saucy. The staples were all solid, although a bit under-seasoned and under-spiced (easily fixed because I keep salt and a large collection of hot sauce around). Manchurian cauliflower in the best of situations is crispy and for lack of a better comparison, tastes like General Tso's cauliflower. Unfortunately, this version tasted like old, hard cauliflower in a gloopy ketchup-like sauce. More egregious was the tandoor chicken salad, which I thought was a great deal at $8. Sadly, the chicken was nearly inedible. It was dry and unrecognizable as chicken. Three stars overall. I'm going to hope that this was a one-off bad experience, and average the two experiences at four stars. Hopefully next time will be better.

This is my 5th time stopping by on 5th Ave for Indian spices and flavors. I enjoyed the daily Lunch Buffet and it was a great selection of chicken and vegan options. First: Mango Lassi is a treat. Second: Garlic Naan. The servers were very accommodating and helpful. Just a chill place to dine. The delivery drivers (Scooter Pies, as I like to call them) came in and out the front door but did not disturb my digestion.

Service was impeccable, food was amazing. Loved that there were so many vegetarian and gluten free options. Great environment to enjoy delicious food!

stumble on this place while walking in the area sunday evening so it wasn't crowded at all. quick seating and prompt service. we got the paneer tikka and chaat appetizer, and malai kofta with naan for main. the kofta was super creamy. seems like they have a nice deal for lunch buffet so would definitely come back for that

    Poori!

It was my first time going to a indian restaurant! The food was sooo good. I had poori for the first time it was sooo good! The service was amazing. I was an strictly diet and the employee was so patient with me and understood my diet needs and made sure that i was satisfied. We didn't have the wait for the food that long. The food was fresh. You can tell they took the time with each dish. The restaurant it self was beautiful and nicely organize. The atmosphere was peaceful. Will definitely come back.

    Lunch buffet. Always fantastic!

Always fantastic! Came by on the weekend after a beautiful walk in Rockaway. Thought we would stop by the area as we had a craving for delicious Indian food. The buffet is always clean and the staff friendly. Our waiter, an older gentleman, (unfortunately didn't catch his name) was so kind. He was attentive and made us feel welcome. Food: I have my favorites already the chicken tikka, saag. Tried a new dish a chicken curry that was fantastic flavor punctuated with mint and cilantro. Really delicious. For a $14 a person price this is a fantastic deal. We always eat just a little too much. It's a shame there aren't more patrons here as the food is so great and so is the vibe. Hope more people stop by. I know I will be back soon for sure! 10/10

We had dinner for two here last night and overall had a solid experience, with a few things that…read morecould be improved. We chose bar seating, which ended up being a bit of a tight squeeze facing the wall; not the most comfortable setup, but manageable for a short meal. To start, we had the pani puri, followed by the samosa chaat. The flavors were good, but the samosa chaat was a bit of a letdown. It wasn't served hot, and the samosa itself was soggy rather than crisp. That contrast in texture is really what makes the dish shine, so it felt like it may have sat a bit too long or was over-sauced. We also tried the vegetable pav, which was decent, and the cod, which was actually very good; nicely cooked with a flavorful sauce. I did find myself wishing we had an extra roti to soak up the rest. For drinks, I had the mango lassi, which I appreciated for not being overly sweet. Service was okay but could be more attentive. My water wasn't refilled after a couple of rounds, and we felt a bit rushed toward the end of the meal. We were given the check without being asked about dessert, which caught us off guard. We did ask afterward, but by then decided to go elsewhere. That said, the food overall is flavorful, and I can see why this place has appeal; especially if you're looking for something a little different in the neighborhood. Having met the owner before in Industry City, it's great to see her doing well in Carroll Gardens, and I wish the restaurant continued success.

Since then, we've dined in, and taken out, and the food has been unfailingly delicious. If you can swing it, dining in is always the move. Unlike the aforementioned sushi joint, Dastaan has decorated to make the small space much more colorful, and infinitely more welcoming. It seems to be a family business, judging by the somewhat surly (teenage?) waitress, but she was still there for anything we needed. Plus, you'll get some complimentary papadum with homemade tamarind and green sauce. But either way, the food will be good. The naan is fresh and fluffy, the poori is delightful (this airy goodness is dine-in only, I'd imagine), the lasuni gobi starter is one of my favorite things, and the curries are all deeply rich and flavorful. We've had korma, bhuna, and saag, with seafood or chicken or paneer or lamb. We've of course had chicken tikka masala and butter chicken (I'd prefer dark meat in the latter for taste and juiciness, but I imagine I'm in the minority). All of it has been super, super tasty. One of my kids is coming around to the fact that Indian food can be amazing, the other will only eat rice and mango lassi. But Dastaan gives me hope that some day they'll crave it like I do. We're going to keep coming in, and taking out.

It was well seasoned, but some peas and cauliflower were slightly undercooked. The garlic naan was the highlight. Perfectly prepared, right amount of seasonings and butter. Prob the best I've had delivered. Cant wait to try other things from the menu.

We tried the Ghati Chicken, Szechuan Noodles, Basmati Rice, and Chapati (flatbread). The Ghati Chicken is very flavorful and quite spicy; the dark meat chicken is served in a stone bowl with a mixture of spices and spicy oil. It goes well with the basmati rice. The waitress recommended the Szechuan Noodles which was also very tasty and had a mixture of vegetables. The Chapati was good but nothing special - just a flat thin bread (similar to roti but less buttery). I would highly recommend the Ghati Chicken and Szechuan Noodles and can't wait to go back to try their other dishes. They offer a variety of appetizers, entrees (goat and vegetable biryani, paneer, butter chicken, fish), and sides. Service: The restaurant seemed a bit understaffed with only one waitress taking orders and seating customers and another waiter filling water and clearing empty dishes. It took a long time for us to get our order in, but the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Service was a bit slow because they were understaffed, but despite this, the two servers were excellent and did their best to get to everyone. Ambiance: The restaurant isn't big, but they are able to accommodate both large and small groups. Seating is tight but not too bad. I would make reservations because the place fills up quickly during peak dinner time. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant and can't wait to go back!

We ordered the sweet and sour eggplant as an appetizer and struggled over decision paralysis before settling on chicken tikka masala and a mango lassi for her and lamb vindaloo for me, plus a bread basket. Our waitress, seemingly oblivious to the notion of profit, warned us we were ordering too much bread before saying, "You could always bring some home," and explaining that the bread basket would consist of our choice of four different naan. More decision paralysis! We picked plain, garlic, onion, and peshwari naan. The eggplant was good, breaded and fried and served with cilantro and tamarind chutneys. Our entrees came out soon after we finished. My girlfriend enjoyed her chicken, and my lamb was tender and spicy without being overwhelmingly so. Each entree was accompanied by a portion of basmati jeera, and the rice was perfectly cooked. The naan were all good, and my girlfriend and I both agreed the peshwari naan was the winner of the pack. The sweet, nutty bread complimented and contrasted the spicy curry of my lamb vindaloo, and my "best bite" was mopping up some of the sauce with it. Sure enough, we had leftovers both of our entrees and 3/4 pieces of naan (two guesses as to which got eaten on the spot), and lunch the next day was delicious. Stumbling distance from the 7 Ave F/G.
