Wow what a surprise, what attracted us to this place was BYOB and now to find that their food is so authentic and delicious, we will certainly be back for more! They have a pre-fix dinner menu ranging from $15.95-$18.95 depending on if you choose seafood, meat, or vegetable. We ordered the saag paneer pre fix and paired it with 1 samosa, 1 coconut soup, an order of bread nan, and finished off with mango rice pudding. We also ordered a stuffed naan, and chicken korma. Everything was delicious and it was certainly a lot of food, in fact, too much for two people who can really eat. My favorite was the chicken korma while my boyfriend kept praising and love the saag paneer (best part was that he doesn't like vegetable but he fell in love with it). Decent but not great Indian food. Might be worth another half star in terms of quality and value but the delivery exceeded the quoted time by almost 30 minutes so I'm justified in rounding down. My boyfriend and I ordered a bunch of goodies - I had the dinner chicken special, which came with naan, soup, an appetizer (I chose a samosa) and some raitas for about $19. He got the chicken tikka ($14) and we got some papadam as well ($3). Of my food, the samosa and the soup - I picked mulligatawny although there were several options - were great. The naan and my entree (I picked butter chicken) were good. I've definitely had much better butter chicken, but it was okay. The real disappointment was the chicken tikka, which wasn't a huge portion, but was left almost entirely untouched because it was so incredibly dry. My boyfriend is a little bit of a picky eater but I can agree with him here - the chicken was not good. Value was decent, especially when you factor in the $5 off on Seamless your first time ordering. However, with a range of Indian options in the neighborhood we won't order again. This review is for delivery and food quality. So during rona, sometimes we ain't want to eat our groceries and was craving something different! As we were about to click the button in getting thai, Indian popped up in my head and we started to look for an Indian spot! It was between Bombay and another spot and we eventually went with bombay due to price point and availability of the rice with coconut and raisins (we love that ish). The food literally came 30 minutes after ordering piping hot and we was honestly just so happy because the whole order was correct and nothing was missing. I was just finishing up my workout and the scents of the food was so tantalizing! let me tell you everything was amazing. We ordered an okra dish, the chicken with spinach and lamb in a coconut sauce. We added two different types of stuffed naan , one with paneer and the other with coconut and topped it off with a channa, potato dish. The meat was so tender and the lamb melted my soul. The naans weren't over done and the okra was A-1! Before you read any further, entertain me for a sec: go to google and type in "aloo paratha". Then click "images". You see a sea of flatbreads, right? Ok cool. Now see the attached image (the one that looks like a droopy empanada). Let's all take a moment and acknowledge that these two items are NOT the same thing. Aloo paratha--the tasty flatbread hailing from the Punjab, expertly rolled out with a thin layer of spiced potato filling--is one of my favorite foods. Any paratha, really. Add achar & dahi and I'm in heaven. Best breakfast food around. I ordered aloo paratha today and got that really sad empanada/samosa hybrid instead. Mistakes happen, right? Apparently not. After waiting well beyond the quoted delivery time (only to have the driver attempt delivery 2mi away and say he's here) and finally opening our bag of late dinner, I discover this monstrosity and call the restaurant. It's not what I ordered and I'd appreciate not being charged for it. Instead of any kind of apology, or even a refusal to refund me for that item (both would have been acceptable, after all it's a $4 piece of bread--supposed to be, anyway), the guy on the other end of the line doubles down and insists that aloo paratha is deep fried--and I've got it all wrong. What this guy didn't know is that the person who placed this order has studied extensively, cooked and taught cooking professionally...on Indian vegetarian food, specifically. I know what a paratha is, its seasonal and regional variations, cooking styles, the works. That this guy would lie thru his teeth because he assumed ignorance on my part is why we're here now. Play like your customers are dumb = you get salty reviews. ‍ To boot, the food (empanosa?samponada? aside) was edible, but below average on all accounts. The chicken somehow managed to be bone dry despite its sauce, the curry veg were boiled to hell and back & under seasoned, and the gobi manchurian was hard and stale (how is that even possible?) as though it had been pre-fried and sitting out all day (perhaps it's possible). They can probably rearrange their tables for slightly bigger parties. They take credit cards including AMERICAN EXPRESS. The only thing which somewhat nagged me a bit was that the waiter felt like a seller. I came with my fiance, and I already ordered an appetizer and 2 entrees. But then he asked if we wanted Naan, so I decided to order one since he asked. He tried to push us to order 2 orders of Naan, but I told him 1 was enough (which was enough). Then, he insisted on the kebabs... And I decided against it cuz we already ordered enough food for 2 people. Then he kinda insisted on drinks, so I went with the mango Lassi. He didn't force us to order anything, but it was a bit annoying. I didn't realize this place was called "Bombay kebabs", so I guess that may be why the waiter asked if we wanted kebabs even though we ordered 2 entrees. GOBI MANCHURIAN- it was enjoyable. Came with 5 bite sized chunks of fried cauliflower. Flavorful, crispy outside. Texture was kind of like dried fried chicken pieces, which is pretty good..(Being able to make vegetables taste like chicken meat) Garlic Naan- good! Bread was nice and warm. Lotssss of garlic which is great. I can actually taste the garlic with every bite. Comes with 4 decently sized pieces. Definitely enough carb for 2 people especially since our entrees also came with rice so you don't need to eat that much bread. GOAN SHRIMP- Creamy and somewhat sweet sauce. It was decent compared to other GOAN shrimps I've had in the U.S. I tried goan shrimp when I was in India, and this was not comparable to what I had back in India, but it's decent. I kinda wished it was a tad bit spicier. I think my fiance ordered the Chicken vindaloo with potatoes-it was decent/ pretty good. Good amount of spiciness. Potatoes were good. The bismati rice they served was nice and aromatic. Dinner was filling. We were able to finish everything we ordered and I was really full. I'm glad I didn't order extra kebabs/food cuz I wouldn't have been able to finish it. Mango Lassi was kinda disappointing. Texture was somewhat watered down, not as thick as I would've liked. Very sweet. Overall, taste is decent for Indian food. Not better than other Indian restaurants and not worse. Maybe their kebabs will change my mind but until then, I rate this 3 stars. read more

The food was decent, I would eat it again. And that's about the end of the good points here, unfortunately. My dad and I went here tonight to grab a bite. It's a very small restaurant but it was completely empty. They were doing a looooot of takeout, and that's probably where most of their reviews come from (something I need to pay more attention to when pondering a restaurant to sit down in). Anyway, all but one of the tables was taken by leftovers from previous guests or by things like extra silverware. When we walked in and said we wanted a table, the man behind the counter gestured to the table closest to the kitchen rather than the one that was actually clean. I didn't mind that because it was farther from the door/cold draft. Because I work in restaurants, I didn't want to sit right down at the dirty table he suggested, so that he could have time to clean it without us being in the way. But instead of fully cleaning it, he removed the jacket from one of the chairs (his, I think), removed the dirty plate, threw two side plates down, and then for some reason, literally dropped one fork, one knife, and one spoon in the middle. I do mean dropped. Haphazardly dropped them. And just one set? Then he motioned for us to sit. The tables have these paper cloths on top of the fabric tablecloth, to protect them from stains I'm sure. But he didn't change the paper cloth before serving us. Even though it had a big yellow spot of food on it. It stayed there for our whole stay. He took our order just fine. But when the samosas my dad ordered came out, he asked the waiter for sauce. The waiter LITERALLY took the plate with the tiny little ramekins of sauce from one of the dirty tables from previous customers and put it on our table. I'm still rather horrified by that. When the rest of the food came I did have to ask him for those utensils I never got. And there were a couple of other small annoyances (like my father asking for ice for his water and the waiter putting ice in mine too automatically, which I don't really care for.) I don't know if the treatment was because we were black or because he had a long day or because he was overwhelmed with takeout orders perhaps but it was so underwhelming and frightful. I usually tip on top of whatever my dad does because I know what waiting tables is like and I don't think he tips high enough but I didn't feel the urge to this time. There was a white guy who came in to place an order and the guy behind the counter was nearly genuflecting when helping him out. And as I overheard, it was the guy's first visit. So I'm not sure why he got the jovial greeting and we got a big yellow stain and half the silverware needed, but whatever. read more

I really enjoyed my experience at Bombay Kebab tonight. Decided to stop in after an appointment in the area. This place is VERY small, so don't plan on going here with a large crowd. The menu has lots of good Indian staples, and the prices are pretty average. The food is absolutely delicious! My wife got the prix fix meal which is about 15 and come with food an appetizer a bread a soup and a desert. I got the tandoori chicken Kebobs. Spot on on both counts. I really enjoyed the sweetness of the Tika Masala sauce. Naan bread was spot on too. The service was adequate if a little on the slow side, but I thought it was really worth the wait, and we were in no rush. The bathroom: There is one! It may not seem like it, but the bathroom is behind the counter in the back and it's clean but very tiny. read more

Ordered via deliverzero. The food was relatively tasty but I've had much better versions of the same dishes elsewhere. 1. Chicken Tikka Masala: The chicken was tender and flavorful. The curry sauce was not as tangy as I would've expected, but had the expected spice flavors. The portion is a little disappointing as there was not much chicken in the dish. 2. Dal Saag: Mostly spinach, not as many lentils as I would've expected, but tasted fine. A little bit more bland than most other dal dishes, like it could've used more salt or something. 3. Naan: Sadly, this was a miss for me. Must've been a fluke because I have a hard time believing they'd normally send out raw naan. The inside was still slightly uncooked and the outside was pale and soft. I didn't get the delicious crispy dark spots on the outside and it tasted mostly of bland dough, also didn't have enough salt. Not enough time in the oven I guess. 4. Basmati Rice: The white rice was perfect! Cooked to the right consistency, individual grains and everything. This issue wasn't the tardiness, but the rudeness I experienced both times I called the restaurant - one to confirm my order went through on seamless (didn't receive an email confirmation) and two when it was 45 minutes past the expected delivery time. Once the food arrived, we immediately noticed there were no sauces or chutneys. My saag paneer, or as my fiancé called it "sad paneer" was watery. The cheese that they actually provided (4 small pieces for 13.95) was not cooked and the spinach had no seasoning. Our garlic naan was lukewarm and charred at the bottom (not in a good way). My fiancé's butter chicken was basically tomato sauce and chicken - no seasoning. After spending close to $50, this was so disappointing. They will never see me again. read more

Yummy Indian Food in Park Slope?! Finally. I was really excited when I saw signs of this little shop opening up a few blocks from me, as I am always craving some good Indian food. Stopped by on my way home after a long day from work and decided to finally try this place, about a week after their soft opening. I was greeted warmly by the owner, who ushered me to sit down and slowly decide what to order on the menu, as he gave me some papadam (crispy bread/craker) to snack on. The interior design is cozy and fancy-ish, despite the shop's small size. Bollywood music videos were also playing on the tv, for background vibe, and I was delighted to see how authentic this made the atmosphere! I decided to order the pre-fix (owner's recommendation) of lamb vindaloo (slightly spicier than normal curry), with a samosa appetizer and veggie soup. I highly recommend this pre-fix, as well, since it comes with so many and a variety of side dishes, if you can't seem to decide what to order. The lamb vindaloo was great and had so much flavor! Definitely more richer and slightly spicier than the normal lamb curry. I wasn't a fan of the veggie soup, since it was a little too creamy and oily for me. The samosa was great and was extra crispy! I loved all the other side items that came with it (rice pudding, rice, sauces, and naan). Such generous portions! I also got the mango lassi, and it was so fresh and creamy! It's funny. This tiny closet-like space on the main drag in Park Slope used to be a pretty-good Indian place. The way the story goes, that owner was partners with another guy who owned Mexican restaurants. One day, the Indian place closes and two days later, the partner opened a Mexican place. It barely lasted a month, but lo and behold next came Bombay Kabab. And I'm so happy it's here. Errrr, there. Open! It's great. Nice owner. Hot and tasty Indian classics, from Samosa to naan to chicken tikka. I can't wait to go back. My only advice. Be patient. If your carry out order is supposed to be ready in 20 minutes but it takes 30, chalk it up to a busy spot and a tiny space and don't leave a bad review. I waited and I'm so glad I did. I was thoroughly disappointed with this food. It's the Park Slope watered down version of Indian food. I don't know what I was expecting. The fire alarms rang twice when we were there. The food didn't have my flavor. I am surprised they have 5 star review. Here is what we ordered and my review of how it was: Assorted Appetizers: samosa was decent. Egg plant thing was very too oiley. Onion pakoda were soggy and tasteless. Everything else kinda blends together without having any impact. Malai Kabab - we typically love Malai kabab whereever we go. You can taste that the chicken was frozen. It looked like a malai kabab but didn't taste like it at all. Chicken was of course over cooked. Boti Kabab - very lemoney like that gonna add flavor. This was the best item we ordered about it was like best crap of all the other crap dishes. Shrimp Poori- this is typically not an appetizer but it was under the appetizer menu. The shrimps were big and they tasted good but the sauce not so much. Paneer Saag - this is supposed to be sweet and it was but it lacked any other flavor notes it typically has. Paneer was rubbery. This restaurant was a disappointment. All the food was 1 note and lacks the complexity that Indian food had. Maybe this is good for the Park Slope standard but it doesn't stand a chance compared to real Indian food if you have ever had it. This is one of my go-to dinners during the workweek. For a decent price they deliver fresh, creamy palak paneer to my desk. Their palak is just the right amount of creamy for my tastes - not creamed spinach or steamed spinach; someplace in-between. The flavor is mild and comforting. Some places make it bland, or add off-putting spices or 'extras' like tomato or onion. They keep it simple and classic. I appreciate that they can give me an order of all eggplant pakora, since it's my favorite pakora by far. Their chicken pakora is good too. They have a reasonable prix fixe option for dinner for people who want naan, soup, an appetizer, entree, rice, and a dessert. I love the 2 oz. sauce containers of rice pudding that usually come with my order. I'd love to try their Gobi Manchurian someday, but I can't tell if it is made with gluten. It could easily be made with the same chickpea batter used on the pakora, but many places add wheat flour. I'd love to go there in person someday, especially if they have a lunch buffet. The tastiest Indian food that I have ever had in Brooklyn. They tailor the spice to your tastes so you can adjust it from mild to spicy. I got the yellow lentil soup and it was creamy, rich and had a lot of balance of flavors to start. I shared the lightly fried vegetables with my fiance and I loved the variety of vegetables used and how light and airy they were. The show stopper to me was that lamb korma. I've never had one so tender that it melts in your mouth and full of such sweet, savory and buttery flavor before and I tasted some cardamom in it too. Look at the other reviews... there's a pattern here. This restaurant CANNOT handle deliveries. Don't even try to get food from here on delivery. You will wait for hours and may never get your food. Not to mention, these owners are the RUDEST people in NYC... which says something. In my experience, I tried to order food from them and it just never arrived. When we called, there was no apology. Just a guy yelling (yes, actually screaming) how it's not their fault they never prepared the food despite acknowledging that they did get the order. Think about that for a second. They admitted that they got the order, but then somehow said it's not their fault that they never prepared it 1.5 hours later. Hmmm... Looking at other reviews, it's clear that others had the same experience. Some people actually got food... 1.5-2 hours late. We never did. Either way, this place is an absolute mess. So if you want a good experience, order somewhere else. Yes, we're in tough times in NYC with food and delivery and everyone is stressed.
