The door to the restaurant opened for business and we walked in. The buffet food was being prepared and arriving. We settled for the buffet and anticipated for what will arrive. The staffs were kind and updated us on the short wait for the food. There are meat and veggie options. However, my friend is vegan and her options were limited. Review for delivery through Uber Eats: Namaste is fast and fantastic. I live nearby and placed an order at around 8:30pm and it was at my door by 9pm, nice and hot. I ordered tandoori chicken and chicken saag. Namaste either accidentally included a papadum order or they gave me one for free. Either way it was an awesome surprise! The tandoori chicken was delicious - very flavorful and moist. The chicken saag was also awesome. I appreciated that neither dish had too much oil and that both came with excellent basmati rice. I loved every bite and can't wait to order from them again. Hopefully I'll get a chance to try out their lunch sometime too! read more

I tried the lunch buffet and honestly it was just ok, food was lukewarm and I tried a little bit of everything just to compare the dishes. Best items there are the chutney, rice, eggplant and curry chicken. The saag was ok but everything lacked true flavor, the most flavorful thing was the chutneys. Also the food isn't refreshed often because realistically not a lot of people come for the lunch buffet. Only thing I didn't like is that they upsell you naan bread in the beginning without telling you it's not included and it's about 5 dollars. It kinda felt deceptive especially because you don't find out until you're done with your meal and you go up to pay, so I made sure to take my naan home. As for ambiance I really enjoyed the music being played as it was two young guys running front of house (I would describe it as Indian hip hop) they provided great service and were attentive. But the inside was a little run down with paint coming off the walls it seems like they may primarily survive on take out orders. Tasty and affordable buffet! The 7-8 dishes on offer are very flavorful and piping hot. Chicken Tikka Masala had a rich and well seasoned sauce and the saag paneer was pleasantly garlicky. If you like hot spices, the heat level as-is was mild, but there are a variety of peppers and chutneys you can add. The garlic naan was DELICIOUS - regretted only ordering one. Chicken tikka masala was perfect: chicken pieces were tender and moist. Gobhi manchurian had just the right amount of breading with a perfectly balanced sweet and sour sauce. The saag paneer was a tad disappointing because it was slightly dry and flavorless- the paneer pieces were bigger chunks than other Indian places and a bit harder than I'm used to. I read about this restaurant on Yelp because it came up on my businesses close to you list. Some of the reviews were that good; but we decided to give it a try anyway. We went on a cold 20 degree evening and were the only ones in the dining area. Most of the business seemed to be take out. My baby granddaughter was with us and she broke a glass. The staff was great in cleaning up the mess. They did so without any complaint. We felt so bad...Guess that's why God made babies cute...so you put up with their messes. Needless to say, the staff was wonderful. It was kind of nice having the whole place to ourselves. I ordered the chicken curry. It was spicer that I expected; but really good. My daughter-in-law ordered the chicken marsala. She enjoyed it very much. I don't remember the exact Indian name; but the Indian bread was excellent. It had a coconut carrot spread in the middle of the flat bread. The sweetness of the bread offset the spiciness of the curry. It was an excellent combination. Two meals, the bread and rice were enough for the three of us. The baby really liked the rice. They have a reasonably priced buffet lunch. Next time I go, I would like to go check it out for myself. We ordered delivery about 30 minutes before close so take this review with a grain of salt. We ordered the curry chicken, butter chicken and naan (our usual for Indian restaurants). The portion sizes were great but the taste of everything was a bit of a disappointment. From previous reviews I expected the curry to be flavorful with a little kick (spicy) but it was kind of bland and didn't taste much like curry at all. The butter chicken was better but still off. We couldn't really put our finger on why. Maybe it was too sweetness?? As for the naan, it just tasted like bread with too much leavener. Again we ordered right before closing so they could've been out of some things and threw our meals together to fulfill the order. I'll have to try them out again and update my review accordingly. I had the butter chicken which comes with basmati rice and an order of garlic naan which was good and my friend had the paneer tikka masala which was also good. It seems like a lot of places aren't putting as much heavy cream in their sauce as they used to which is healthier but it does taste better, but i guess anything that's not healthy does. We were in the mood for some quality Indian food, on this cool, shower filled evening. Strolling along the restaurant laden 5th Ave in Park Slope, we Yelped and found Namaste, a four star rated restaurant across the street. Upon walking in, we thought the decor was pleasant, and were quickly seated at a small table. There was only one other table occupied at that time. We reviewed the menus and the short wine list and then waited for the waiter to return. And waited, and waited. He was talking on the phone with someone. An order to go perhaps? I finally caught his eye, and he asked if we'd like drinks. We answered affirmatively, ordering a glass of wine, and our dinners. For dinner we ordered: * Tandoori Wings $10: Chicken wings marinated in a spiced yogurt grilled in tandoor. * Chicken Shahi Korma $14:00: Boneless chicken cooked in a smooth rich creamy almond sauce. * Naan $3.50: Plain grilled naan. Tick tock goes the clock. A few more diners arrived and are seated. The waiter passes our table a half dozen times. Finally, I flagged him down. "Do you recall that we ordered a glass of wine?" And with that reminder, he walked over to the wine (about 10 feet away) and brought us a glass. We hoped that wasn't a bad dining omen. Our dinners came out shortly thereafter. Everything was lukewarm. Why?! Most of the time korma is already prepared and just needs to be heated. We were hungry, and rather than return it, we ate the food as presented. It wasn't bad - it just wasn't especially good. The korma and naan were a little bland, the tandoori chicken was tasty but not very hot, so it was "good". An off night for the Namaste? Not great, but still a solid and inexpensive ($12/person) Indian buffet in Brooklyn, which is surprisingly hard to come by in such a diverse borough. We came here on MLK day at approximately 12pm and it was quiet at first with just a few people enjoying the 11am-4pm lunch buffet, but at around 12:30pm customers began trickling in fast. The small restaurant didn't get overly crowded, but it began filling up as time passed during lunch time - which was a good sign. Unfortunately, there was only 1 gentleman working the shift, so service was slow as a snail. Hungry customers kept walking in and constantly waited patiently at the entrance like lost tourists as the 1 employee was in the back. People just stood at the buffet area waiting to be seated. The buffet food was located right next to the entrance, which from a sanitary perspective might not have been the best idea. If you love your food to get some fresh air, then you'll love where they placed the chafing trays though. In addition, many of the community utensils to scoop the foods were half-sitting in the chafing trays, so the trays were all slightly open and getting exposed a bit. Mind you, all of the food were hot foods, so not great that the trays were slightly ajar. Anyhow, enough moaning from me about the conditions inside, but how about that buffet food served? As with many buffets, there were a few hits and winners and some definite losers. First off, here's what they served on the day we were there, which we doubt differs much on a daily basis: Basmati Rice Tandoori Chicken Okra Masala Yellow Daal Aloo Baingan Vegetable Korma Paneer Bhurji Goat Curry Chicken Tikka Masala Chana Masala Saag Mushroom Suji ka Halwa Chutneys Although the buffet is not big, as you can see, they do serve quite a decent variety and, since that is the case, I won't go through everything, but more of what stood out ---- in good and not so good ways. The winners - Okra Masala, Goat Curry and the Chicken Tikka Masala. Everything else was meh, not bad, but just meh. Some a little better than the others, but the rest of them were pretty much considered a "give it a try dish, but I'm not getting a 2nd serving of that" type. I hate to say it, but I know as non-Indian of a dish as it is, the Chicken Tikka Masala was our favorite. I pride myself on knowing what legit food is from different ethnic cultures, but sometimes good food doesn't need to be legit. I mean I love me some chicken and broccoli from the local Americanized Chinese hole in the wall sometimes because it's damn good, even if it is not considered legit Chinese food. You know what I mean? To get back on topic, the basmati rice could have been cooked a bit longer and the naan could have come out a bit hotter as well. If you're going to an Indian buffet, they better have damn good naan (which they provide on the house here during the buffet) or damn good basmati rice to soak all of those curries in. Like I said, Namaste is a nice, solid local buffet. It's not bad bad and it absolutely can be way better than it is in its current form, it's worth the try considering its inexpensive price per person at $12. It was kind of okay for me. I came here for a friend's birthday dinner and I do like that they have a nice back patio that is fairly spacious. The naan was good, and so was the samosas we had as an appetizer. However, the chicken makhani here was just okay to me - the chicken wasn't as tender as I'm used to it from other places. On top of that, one of the staff members wasn't wearing a mask at all, even when customers walked by. It made me feel very uncomfortable, even though the rest of the staff was good about it. I may give it another shot, but there's quite a few Indian spots in Prospect Heights where I'm at that are better that I'm not sure I'd come back here instead. read more

Their lunch buffet isn't worth it if you're vegetarian. Just four basic veggie curries, nothing special at all. Chana saag, like what? No paneer saag...cost cutting? Also no fried appetizer of sorts (samosa, pakora, etc.) on the buffet. Naan isn't included in the buffet either. So bizarre. It's like you're paying for half of a buffet. They technically have dessert (rice pudding) included with the buffet but they serve it to you at the end. Apparently you can get more than one serving of dessert but I'm not a fan of this. Just have it out so I can have as much or as little as I want at any point during my lunch. read more

Excellent food! The flavors were so well balanced, not overpowering. The place was extremely clean and even though it's a small space-they had the tables safely distanced apart. So good I had to choice but to go again-- 10/10! I got the: Goat Korma Chicken Saag Goat korma, well that sauce first of all is perfection. it's a creamy almond curry sauce that just warms the soul! the goat was really tender as well, went perfect with the rice and garlic naan. Chicken saag - this was soooo good and i was shocked actually. it's a creamy spinach sauce with chicken mixed in. honestly would go well with anything! Overall, everything was creamy, smooth, full of flavors, and good portions so perfect for leftovers the next day :) It's a perfect place to go with your friends or family, and get a bunch of platters to share. the service here is really good as well -- This is the prime time to support local businesses! Ordered from Namaste for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. The tandoori chicken was moist and flavored, and larger portion than expected. The kulcha naan was excellent, as was the mango chutney. I was again surprised by the size the of chutney serving, in that it was larger than normally receive online. My only slight disappointment was with the raita. though a large portion, as the chutney, it was too watery for my taste. The delivery was quick. I ordered take-out through seamless as a last minute thing and namaste did not disappoint. I only had the chicken vindaloo and it was superb. When I usually order vindaloo from other restaurants, they usually do not have a level of spicy to choose from. Namaste has mild, medium, and spicy. I opted for the medium and it was just enough for me yet didn't burn my stomach as it went down like other places. Only thing that I did not like is they add potatoes and give you less pcs of chicken. I thought that was a bit gimmicky but nonetheless still good. The rice was also aromatic, you can smell and taste the cumin seeds. I was also given a chip-like thing you dunk into the green mint chutney and I enjoyed it as well. I will likely be back when I am in park slope. I hope the business survives this covid-19 pandemic... They do wear their mask once you attempt to enter the establishment but I don't think it is enforced during the entire shift. Talk about a hole in the wall ! We had plans to go somewhere arrived there sat and everything and decided it was a NO! But let's get back on track arrived at this location and I'm like ehhhhhhh maybe not but don't judge a book by it's cover. The location is in a really good spot, inside the decor is lacking but it's alright. The lighting was fairly dull that's why I judged lol. For starters I got the chicken somosas and the tofu one. They were finger licking good and they huge ! Not sure if typically that's how large they were but I loved it. For our entree we got butter chicken with garlic naan on the side. Oh my gosh, delicious food the most hospitable service on top of that! The Lamb Korma was out of this world and it paired really well with the Saag Paneer (Spinach Dish). The veggie samosas hit the spot, and if you want a sweet treat I'd definitely go for the Mango Lassi drink or some rice pudding (it was perfect way to complete our meal). My sister had the Butter Chicken with Garlic Naan, which you can never go wrong with-- but honestly Yelpers, go for the Lamb Korma Here is a rushed picture my sister snagged to send to her husband. SO GREAT this place is back OPEN. They are doing the best they can during the COVID lockdown. They shut down for a few days, but are BACK IN ACTION, saving us Brooklynites from waiting in line for an hour to enter Key Food. One thing I wonder -- especially now during Ramzan/Ramadan -- which menu items are actually Halal? I LOVE NORTH Indian/Pakistani/Punjabi food and am not too into South Indian cuisine. I like to eat buckets of stew, so Namaste's menu suits me just fine. Lately, I have only been ordering vegetarian dishes, like Baingan bharta and anything with saag. I am curious about Namaste's Dhal, as I have yet to try it. To be honest, I can make better channa masala/chennai, but really appreciate Namaste's channa masala on days I am lucky enough to not cook after a hard day of work. I was addicted to Namaste's Vindaloo dishes before my tongue got burnt off hahaha (I was asking for it though -- I said "make it really spicy on a scale beyond 10). In addition to good food and EXCELLENT customer service, I like Namaste's overall attitude expressed on Namaste's website: "Namaste - My soul honors your soul. Saw this little gem on Yelp and thought I might try the lunch buffet since I read so many good reviews and I must say for 12 dollars it's a great deal. There are plenty enough choices of food to select from and they give you fresh naan bread which is always a plus. The chicken tikka masala was good although I wish there was more dark meat rather than white meat. They had chili chicken which wasn't that spicy and actually tasted more like a Chinese dish which had me wondering. Business during lunch on a weekday is not too packed which is good. The food though was closer to a C hence the 3 stars . The verdict . The food was bland . Very little flavor from the sagg . The chicken was on the dry side and as such had an imperfect texture . The naan . Utter disappointment. I've only had good naan from two restaurants in my life so I am very picky with it especially when it's notoriously pushed as a side . This naan was not fluffy , dry and again not flavorful despite being intensely topped with garlic .
